A Further Perspective

Remember Times Square

What are American Muslims so afraid of?

On a rainy Sunday afternoon, several hundred protesters gathered in New York City to make their displeasure known with Long Island Republican Congressman Peter King’s impending hearings on “The Extent of Radicalization in the American Muslim Community and that Community’s Response” which are due to commence on Thursday.

The most peculiar aspect of this rally was not the presence of hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons nor was it the display of signs that read, “I am a Muslim, too.” Rather the most peculiar aspect of this rally was where it took place. After all, it was a mere ten months ago that Faisal Shahzad attempted to set off a car bomb in Times Square and if not for an alert street vendor there might not have been a Times Square at which to hold the rally much less for Dick Clark to bring in a new year.

While Shahzad was not born and raised in the United States (although he did become an American citizen in 2009) the man who inspired him to carry out the plot most surely was. In the absence of Osama bin Laden, Anwar al-Awlaki is arguably the most powerful voice al-Qaeda has to offer. The fact that Awlaki was born in this country and spent a good part of his early childhood and early adulthood here makes him invaluable to al-Qaeda and that much greater a danger to the United States. Consider what Awlaki said during an audio recording he made in March 2010:

I could not reconcile between living in the U.S. and being a Muslim, and I eventually came to the conclusion that jihad against America is binding upon myself just as it is binding on every other Muslim.

So let us not forget that it was Awlaki’s literature that helped inspire the American born Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad (formerly known as Carlos Leon Bledsoe) to carry out a drive-by shooting in front of a military recruitment center in Little Rock, Arkansas in June 2009. The shooting spree resulted in the death of Private William Long while wounding Private Quentin Ezeagwula. When authorities in Little Rock detained Muhammad he said, “It’s a war going on against Muslims, and that is why I did it.”

So let us not forget that it was Awlaki’s e-mail correspondence with the American born Nidal Malik Hasan that helped spur him to shout “Allahu Akbar!!!” as he killed twelve of his fellow soldiers and one civilian at Fort Hood in November 2009.

And let us not forget it was Awlaki’s e-mail correspondence with the American born Abu Talhah al-Amrikee (formerly known as Zachary Chesser) that provided him with the inspiration in April 2010 to post an online message threatening South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone if an episode depicting the Prophet Mohammed was aired. Last month, Amrikee was sentenced to 25 years in prison for his threats to Parker and Stone as well as for his support of the Somali terror organization, al-Shabaab. While no one lost their lives, the threat prompted Comedy Central to not only pull the two-part episode after its initial airing but also pull a nearly decade old episode which also depicted Mohammed.

So let us also not forget that when cartoonist Molly Norris attempted to show solidarity with the South Park creators by organizing “Everybody Draw Mohammed Day,” it was Awlaki himself who called for Norris to be killed. The FBI advised Norris to change her name, give up her livelihood and go into hiding, which she did last September.

Now one could make the case that Awlaki’s influence only reaches but the thinnest sliver of America’s Muslim community. But when that thin sliver is enough to result in a person having to change her identity, a television network having to jettison its programming — and results in the deaths of American soldiers on American soil — then we have a problem that warrants governmental attention. You would think American Muslims would be eager to denounce those who commit such acts in their name and would welcome such scrutiny. But alas the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) states that King’s hearings “on the alleged ‘radicalization’ of American Muslims” have “sent a shudder through our community.” In an op-ed for the Washington Post, Georgetown University professor John Esposito (a convert to Islam) all too predictably likened King and the hearings as “a successor to Senator Joseph McCarthy and a new neo-McCarthyism.”

Quite frankly, I don’t know what American Muslims are so afraid of. Representative King will have his hearings. Those hearings will likely result in a report with recommendations and those recommendations will be ignored by Congress, dismissed out of hand by the Obama Administration and be left to gather dust on the shelf. I suspect that by the time the dust is blown off King’s report it will be after someone has succeeded in turning Times Square into ash.

I fear the Islamic culture and religion, with its historical radical elements, elements which run throughout its population and now which overflow mine.

Islam was bearable when it was a small minority and overseas, mostly. But this alien population has encroached on my daily life and I don't like it. Call me islamophobic - you won't insult me. Reality bites. Reality kills. Notice the increased frequency of protests and demands. Sharia is like kudzu, it creeps and creeps until is smothers.

This evil religious culture is rearing its ugly head and it isn't going anywhere. There is no separation of church and state allowed. Our precious society so beautifully protected by the Constitution is being attacked, one slice at a time. The problem will increase in noise and number. Rep. King's inquiry is needed. Wait until your mall or local Chuckie Cheese gets bombed - it will be too late, then.

McGavin| 3.9.11 @ 11:23AM

Someone tell me where "radical islam" is distorting the writings of the islamic faith? After researching this myself, I have come to the conclusion that the so-called radicals are following the commands of the prophet pretty well. So why is it that even Rep. King has to preface his statements with "religion of peace" and all that nonsense?

Alan Brooks| 3.9.11 @ 9:04PM

Islamics in America are much better than the ones outside this country. In fact a mosque in the U.S. is a less autocratic house of worship than a church.

KyMouse| 3.10.11 @ 10:18AM

Please define "autocratic" as it pertains to your point, and provide proof. Thanks.

Herb| 3.9.11 @ 6:44AM

Sir, you stole my thunder, except that I will add that I don't like Islam and I don't trust Muslims. Why? Well, their Koran tells them that being Muslim makes one superior to all other peoples. It tells them that they are bound to obey only Shar'ia law. It instructs them not only to wage jihad but that only jihadis killed while trying to kill "infidels" are assured the everlasting pleasures of paradise. It forbids the befriending Jews and Christians except in the pursuit of `taqqiyah', or lying to advance Islam.

And why it's so hard to oppose this evil agenda utterly escapes me. Who's afraid of being labeled (gasp!) "politically incorrect"? And if there is a physical threat, just look to the Copts. Their Christian faith lives in spite of all manner of danger. And unlike them, we Americans have the right to bear arms. I could go on ad infinitum, but for now I will paraphrase a line from a famous movie and declare,

"I'm a free man, O Muslim! There's nothing you can do about it."

I apologize in advance for this post out of context, but something is very upsetting to me and I think it needs to be mentioned:

WARNING!
I do not want to be alarmist, but I have been wrestling with the worst virus/worm I have EVER encountered. It apparently got in through a ‘hole’ in an ADOBE FLASH update message. It will come up as a warning that your computer has been infected by a virus and appear to be scanning your hard drive. DO NOT OPEN IT OR EVEN CLICK ON IT! If you do not know what to do, try to get into SAFE MODE and call an expert. Microsoft has issued more than a dozen security definitions and attempted patches in the last week and it keeps getting back in. This is very serious! I may be paranoid, but it looks like it could be a coordinated attack on our internet. I hope I’m wrong.

You may now return to Mitch's regularly scheduled rant.

Alan Brooks| 3.10.11 @ 12:18AM

"but it looks like it could be a coordinated attack on our internet."

If you-- or your teenagers-- stop going to all those porn sites, you wont get so many viruses and worms.

Appleby| 3.9.11 @ 7:00AM

The Muslims are afraid because they understand more about Americans than some Americans do.

My sister and I were in Kanukistan when the Muslims brought down the Twin Towers, the Pentagon and United 93. We were living in a building filled with Muslims. My sister was terrified. *They know we are Americans,* she said, *and they will come after us.*

*No,* I told her, *they know we are Americans and they are terrified that WE will come after THEM.*

Muslims know that this is what Americans do.

Ken (Old Texican)| 3.9.11 @ 7:57AM

Appleby,
You are absolutely going to love my forthcoming sequel.
"This is what Americans do"...this is INDEED what Americans do.
Sooner than later, the Islamists are going to get impatient...and seal their fate.

Mr ED| 3.9.11 @ 7:07AM

"Quite frankly, I don't know what American Muslims are so afraid of."

Oh come on, thats an easy one. American Muslims are most afraid of being TOO well understood. The alliance between the Leftists and one of their most important "victim" constituencies has been declared "out of bounds" for public discussion by those same Leftists who try so mightily to have absolute control the media. The "average" muslims and the Islamic radicals (but I repeat myself) are just one facet of the Leftists efforts to use their favored victim groups as wedges to split America into ever smaller squabbling sects who, so they hope, will look to those same noble and corageous Leftists to sort out those squabbles. Its one of the Leftists oldest tactics - Create the problem, pour fuel on the problem, and when there is a conflagration, the Leftists stand back and do their best to look innocent and lecture us all on how to be civil, blah blah blah.
There is no room for compromise here. There is no middle ground. The Leftists will have to be exposed, utterly defeated and swept into the dustbin of history. You do not compromise with arrogant Leftist narcissists and sociopaths.

Deborah D | 3.9.11 @ 8:52AM

The American Left and radical Muslims use similar methods...they lie to get what they want. They hide their true intentions here in the U.S. behind (sometimes) calm, cool rhetoric, then behind closed doors they reveal their true feelings.

Like Obama being recorded discussing "those who cling to their guns and religion" the radicals of Islam are safe behind their mosque walls preaching God knows what. Question. Why did they move here? Sharia is incompatible with our Constitution. Many don't want to become Americans. They want to take over America.

The Left and radical Islam have many of the same goals -- the main one? "Fundamentally transforming the United States of America." Both use the Constitution as a suicide pact for law-abiding citizens. Both want to skirt the laws while making us follow them.

I hope there are Muslims who want to bring their religion into the 21st Century. I'm sure there are, but I don't want our country to be the recipient of their Civil War.

GreginOkinawa| 3.9.11 @ 7:23AM

As long as the Muslim population remains around or under 2% in any given country, they will be for the most part being regarded as a peace-loving minority, and not as a threat to other citizens. This is the case in:

United States -- Muslim 0.6%
Australia -- Muslim 1.5%
Canada -- Muslim 1.9%
China -- Muslim 1.8%
Italy -- Muslim 1.5%
Norway -- Muslim 1.8%

At 2% to 5%, they begin to proselytize from other ethnic minorities and disaffected groups, often with major recruiting from the jails and among street gangs. This is happening in:

Denmark -- Muslim 2%
Germany -- Muslim 3.7%
United Kingdom -- Muslim 2.7%
Spain -- Muslim 4%
Thailand -- Muslim 4.6%

From 5% on, they exercise an inordinate influence in proportion to their percentage of the population. For example, they will push for the introduction of halal (clean by Islamic standards) food, thereby securing food preparation jobs for Muslims. They will increase pressure on supermarket chains to feature halal on their shelves -- along with threats for failure to comply. This is occurring in:

France -- Muslim 8%
Philippines -- 5%
Sweden -- Muslim 5%
Switzerland -- Muslim 4.3%
The Netherlands -- Muslim 5.5%
Trinidad & Tobago -- Muslim 5.8%

At this point, they will work to get the ruling government to allow them to rule themselves (within their ghettos) under Sharia, the Islamic Law. The ultimate goal of Islamists is to establish Sharia law over the entire world. When Muslims approach 10% of the population, they tend to increase lawlessness as a means of complaint about their conditions. In Paris , we are already seeing car-burnings. Any non-Muslim action offends Islam, and results in uprisings and threats, such as in Amsterdam , with opposition to Mohammed cartoons and films about Islam. Such tensions are seen daily, particularly in Muslim sections, in:

Guyana -- Muslim 10%
India -- Muslim 13.4%
Israel -- Muslim 16%
Kenya -- Muslim 10%
Russia -- Muslim 15%

After reaching 20%, nations can expect hair-trigger rioting, jihad militia formations, sporadic killings, and the burnings of Christian churches and Jewish synagogues, such as in:

Ethiopia -- Muslim 32.8%

At 40%, nations experience widespread massacres, chronic terror attacks, and ongoing militia warfare, such as in:

Bosnia -- Muslim 40%
Chad -- Muslim 53.1%
Lebanon -- Muslim 59.7%

From 60%, nations experience unfettered persecution of non-believers of all other religions (including non-conforming Muslims), sporadic ethnic cleansing (genocide), use of Sharia Law as a weapon, and ***ya, the tax placed on infidels, such as in:

Albania -- Muslim 70%
Malaysia -- Muslim 60.4%
Qatar -- Muslim 77.5%
Sudan -- Muslim 70%

After 80%, expect daily intimidation and violent jihad, some State-run ethnic cleansing, and even some genocide, as these nations drive out the infidels, and move toward 100% Muslim, such as has been experienced and in some ways is on-going in:

Bangladesh -- Muslim 83%
Egypt -- Muslim 90%
Gaza -- Muslim 98.7%
Indonesia -- Muslim 86.1%
Iran -- Muslim 98%
Iraq -- Muslim 97%
Jordan -- Muslim 92%
Morocco -- Muslim 98.7%
Pakistan -- Muslim 97%
Palestine -- Muslim 99%
Syria -- Muslim 90%
Tajikistan -- Muslim 90%
Turkey -- Muslim 99.8%
United Arab Emirates -- Muslim 96%

100% will usher in the peace of 'Dar-es-Salaam' -- the Islamic House of Peace. Here there's supposed to be peace, because everybody is a Muslim, the Madrasses are the only schools, and the Koran is the only word, such as in:

Afghanistan -- Muslim 100%
Saudi Arabia -- Muslim 100%
Somalia -- Muslim 100%
Yemen -- Muslim 100%

Unfortunately, peace is never achieved, as in these 100% states the most radical Muslims intimidate and spew hatred, and satisfy their blood lust by killing less radical Muslims, for a variety of reasons.

Stammon| 3.9.11 @ 8:06AM

Is there a final solution to this problem?

Mitch Angoop| 3.9.11 @ 9:19AM

Remember Hitler's "Final Solution" which was apalling, abhorrant, despicable, horrible, and downright evil. And NOBODY can ever defend ANYTHING Hitler did to the Jews. But...

The Jews never advocated killing/exterminating every non-Jew. The Jews never firebombed and killed thousands of innocents. And the Jews NEVER declared war on the whole world. The muslims have done this.

King's committee is not only a good idea, it is critically important for the simple reason that we have thousands of really stupid 'kool-aid drinkers' in our Country who just don't get it. We are being targeted by an evil, insidious cancer that must be destroyed by any possible means. In virtually every case, muslims choose their cult over country; ANY COUNTRY.

Our government no longer represents American citizens. They are the self described 'Elite' and they care only about their own power, perks, and bennies. This is not complicated. To accurately represent us, islam needs to be defined as a 'cult' and treated as such. While we certainly run the risk of a 'slippery slope' toward unconstitutional influence over our religious choices, the dems/libs/media (The Usual Culprits) are already doing their best to destroy Christianity, the majority religion by far. Islam is not a religion as defined and practiced in the 21st Century. If it walks like a duck, sounds like a duck, and smells like a duck, it might just be a duck. Same with islam and cults. Watch them closely and crush them before they achieve their clearly stated objective of destroying US. And, if any of these 'useful idiots' (libs) get in the way, well, all wars have casualties.

Mr ED| 3.9.11 @ 9:57AM

I believe you could apply a similar formula to the numbers of Leftists (including their dependent victim groups) in proportion to society. Agressive totalitarians (Leftists/Muslims) will make common cause until only the totalitarians they are left to oppose each other, then the real conflagration begins. A gullible American public, reluctance to believe that totalitarians are in fact totalitarians, are willingly duped by the lies of the Leftists who control the modern infotainment media because it allows them avoid connecting the dots and, eventually, making a stand against evil.

I think the original source was an article in a high circulation periodical, maybe the ECONOMIST or FINANCIAL TIMES out of the UK. I've seen the piece several times from various sources, and they've been quite consistent. The figures do correlate with other sources I've read.

Anybody who underestimates the evil and tenacity of the muslims frankly deserves what comes their way. I do NOT, however, want to suffer and die because of their abject stupidity. What is the muslim american community afraid of, oh maybe they are not the ones that should be concerned so much as the demonrat party members who have and are still accepting money from organizations such as CAIR and their muslim brotherhood associates, co-indited co- conspirators in the holy land foundation trials. Maybe what Mr.King exposes is far more dangerous to the dem party members, including their so-called leader, obamas Bin Lyn, and that's the real reason for the shrilling by the members of one of their fav victim groups known as the muslim american community. P.S. go to the NEFA.org site and start reading, maybe a clue can be brought forth by all of the testimony cited in the transcripts. The MAC has good reason for their concerns, they are warranted. MikeD| 3.9.11 @ 2:43PM

One unfortunate measure of our collective stupidity, and the INTENTIONAL, deadly stupidity of the democrats and their 'willing lackies' is that our enemies have learned, with THEIR help, to hide behind OUR Constitution. But, we must always be painfully aware of one cogent fact:

THE CONSTITUTION IS NOT A SUICIDE PACT.

davelnaf| 3.9.11 @ 8:41AM

It is taken as a given that the profound sensitivity of some Muslims here and around the world to criticism of Islam or anything connected to it is all about religion. But anyone with the slightest knowledge of psychology knows that such attitudes begin at a deeper level of the mind long before the conscious, cognitive part comes into play. By not exploring the psychological basis of why these people think the way they do normal people give them, and their religious beliefs, far more credit than they deserve. In other words, their angst against the West and the US is definitely not about lofty, philosophical principles. The people protesting in Times Square probably have more than an inkling of understanding that this is true. Their fear that we might be on to them and what their religion represents is justified.

hunter| 3.9.11 @ 8:59AM

They are afraid the truth will come out. That islam is evil. Many of those demonstrating against Rep. King’s hearings were proclaiming that they were “Muslim for a day”. What happens when tomorrow comes and they decide they are no longer Muslim? Doesn’t that make them an apostate? Don’t they know that under Sharia law the penalty for apostasy is death? I don’t want anyone to lose their heads over this, but….

Bill| 3.9.11 @ 12:03PM

Those who proclaim themselves to be "Muslims, too" should also be investigated to see if their identification with Islam includes espionage against the United States.

Bill| 3.9.11 @ 12:01PM

Stalinist Communists were never more than a small sliver of American society. There were probably fewer of them than there are fundamentalist Muslims today on America. Yet, until Hollywood's communists were investigated, few people raised much of a fuss against Congress's power to investigate particular groups in deciding whether or not to pass legislation, as is Congress's duty and power.

Some folks are concerned about a resurgence of right-wing "McCarthyism," but they're not particularly concerned about the slanders of Tea Partiers while they're bemoaning supposed American prejudice.

I see the Muslim haters are out in force. Islam as its name suggest is a peaceful path in any conceivable way. It is the only truly monotheistic faith on the eart. Our christain brothers have exaggerated with calling the Muslim prophet Jesus peace be upon him god or son of god. A great blasephmy. The Jews have restricted monotheism to the tribe of Judah . That leaves only Islam as a truly universal monotheistic faith. it is protected by god (amen). I advice you to listen to the Quran in the Arabic . It has the power to melt mountains. there some black sheep in the Muslim community but they are in a minority. This minority was radicalised by non other your country( eighties by reagen & co). King should use the hearings to explore how the CIA radicalised these fanatics and how US foreign policy continues to support them. On a side note the prophet in one of his narration predicted that Islam will rise from the west. USA will one day pretty soon will be a Muslim nation. Why wait guys. Salvation is only one sentence away ( shahada). you will never ever regret it. You will be transformed into light and on the path of the noble prophets of god . Don't believe the lies in above responses. peace to you all.

This is parody, right?

MikeD| 3.9.11 @ 2:49PM

If this is satire or sarcasm, you need to be a little more factual so the sarcasm is evident. If it isn't a satire, then you are delusional and need to be eliminated from the gene pool at your earliest convenience.

I don't think anybody who really believed this crap could be bright enough to actually read and write. You'd be expending most of your energy converting sunlight and minerals into leaves and stems.

If I'm wrong and you really are serious, I suggest that you find a very remote location, build some sort of bomb, and prepare yourself to meet your 72 Virginians. I hear most of them carry side-arms and know how to use them.

MikeD| 3.9.11 @ 2:59PM

By the way, John (Also a name for a toilet) we live on a planet called "Earth", not a place named "ert". Maybe that's a Freudian Slip, which does kinda go with your persona: "ert", as opposed to "inert". Nah! You are definitely INERT!

cl| 3.9.11 @ 6:24PM

Sirhan Sirhan killed Bobby Kennedy in 1968 because he anticipated being radicalized by Reagan in the 1980's.

jawin| 3.9.11 @ 6:25PM

That was mildly amusing, John. In the muhamadan "religion", the way to peace is to kill off those who oppose you. Real peaceful.

Rick| 3.9.11 @ 1:27PM

From the beginning of Islam in the 6th Century the goal has been to spread the religion by force. There is no word for "Peace" in Arabic, there is only a cessation of fighting. Mohammed himself made peace treaties, with the only goal being defeating them at a later time when he was better prepared. The Koran tells them to kill infidels, it tells them to lie in order to achieve their goals, and even mentions the preferred way ,beheading. There may be moderate Muslims, as I'm sure there were Germans who didn't agree totally with the Nazi's, even with that they still murdered millions of Jews and not one Moderate German stood up and stopped WWII. If you are expecting moderate Muslims to stand up with you, I believe you are mistaken, they will stand with the radicals. Moderates cannot even argue facts with the radicals, for the radicals just quote the Koran. We need to be aware of what is happening and not classify Islam with other religions. Islam is not a Theology, it's a Theocracy, there is a big difference.

gsr| 3.9.11 @ 1:43PM

Moses and Jesus were preachers/teachers/philosophers.........Mohammed was a soldier, a conquering general. Consequently, Judism and Christianity are much more benign; Islam is much more militant.

Name one other religion which has in it's doctrine, that's it ok to lie as long as you lie to infidels (non-muslims)?

The reason why we are discussing this today is because.........you guessed it boys and girls, Mohammedans are here in large, growing numbers because of......immigrati0n.

Open borders uber alles!

Predictably the “left” is pushing the line that King is the new “McCarthy.” It is the “old” “tired” communist line to turn the tables. Study the transcripts of Alger Hiss. He was brilliant and rather than answer the judge’s or prosecutor’s questions he either a) asked them questions or b) claimed “abuse” or evaded the questions. Of course the guilty ones were the judges and prosecutors. Also study the House Committee on Un-American activities hearings. Same thing. Different lines but same tactic. Study Louis Budenz, “The Techniques of Communism.” He has an entire chapter devoted to phraseology—also known in the communist agenda as “Aesopian Language.” McCarthy may have been bombastic but he was right as evidenced by the recent release of the Venona files. So now we have a new “McCarthy” which probably means he is a) right b) brave and c) has plenty of evidence. As soon as you see the word “McCarthy” you know who is behind the attacks. Lies. Abuse. Deceit. Eventually violence. The tactics never change. THE ONLY MAJOR CHANGE NOW is that the left has joined hands with the radical muslims as detailed in Unholy Alliance: Radical Islam and the American Left by David Horowitz.. Don’t fret about 9/11. Don’t fret about Time Square.

The prophet (pbuh) lived in the Arabian desert. His divine mission lated 22 years. In the various conflicts with the pagan tribes only a few hundred died. America vaporises hundreds of afghan civilians on a daily basis with drone attacks, killed well over a million Iraqis , actively supporting murder of Palestinians. And I'm not even going into the blood soaked history of the west. The prophet by comparison was a mercy to mankind. Islam was never ever spread by force. On the other hand christinaity was spread by the sword in places such as Latin America. When it comes to mass murder nobody can touch the west. Islam by comparison has not a single violent bone on it. Now thats the truth. peace.

MikeD| 3.9.11 @ 2:53PM

John,
If you actually buy into this crap, and you're not pulling our leg, then you'd better learn how to use the English language. With your poor language skills, you couldn't convince a 10 year old kid to sell you nickels for a dollar.

Sam Levi| 3.9.11 @ 5:20PM

What we have here, is a failure to communicate.
Islam is a bastardized religion/government that stole precepts from Christianity and Judaism, and then corrupted them for its own gain. The "prophet" was a plagarist, a pedophile, and a murderer. Only a "few hundred" died because he didn't have automatic weapons and high explosives. I didn't give a pig's behind what the muslims did in their own country; but, now it's effecting the country I served with pride. This is one infidel that would be happy to help you and yours to their 72 virgin reward. By the way Jon, where does it promise you that your 72 virgins are female?

Mitch Angoop| 3.9.11 @ 5:38PM

Islam is a cult worshipping a murderous thug who made up his own rules as he went along gathering willing female bodies and idiots who turned over their lives and possessions. Yup! Sounds like a cult to me. This is the same kind of alleged mind that worships barry the muslim...and votes dem.

John| 3.9.11 @ 5:40PM

In the Islamic creed true religion is the worship of god and him alone. All the prophets Moses, Jesus, Mohammed ( pbuh) preached only this creed. Islam is the completion of this creed. It is the last revelation from God. Islam rejects the previous revelations if they stray from the pure abrahamic monotheism.

Steve A| 3.9.11 @ 2:44PM

Hey John, I suggest you test your theory. Try this one out. Travel to (pick a Christian church), ask to meet the pastor & deacons, pull out The King James & some lighter fluid & torch it on the spot.

Now, I'll sponsor you first class travel to (pick a Middle East Mosque overseas) & try the same little experiment with a Koran. Report back results.

John| 3.9.11 @ 5:02PM

The bible and Torah are books Muslims must believe in. They are divinely revealed. It would be evil to burn any religious text.

Sam Levi| 3.9.11 @ 5:22PM

You have contradicted yourself. If you believe in the Bible and the Torah, you can not by default believe the Koran. They are mutually exclusive.
Example one, the Torah promises the land of Israel to the JEWS and spells out exactly where the boundaries are, it makes no allowance for "palestinians".

John| 3.9.11 @ 5:52PM

The Quran represents the last revelation from god. The previously revelations have been tampered with and changed. They are respected but if they contradict the Quran they are rejected. Islam does not accept that Jews today have a divine right to Palestine. It makes no sense from any moral angle to use divine justification for murder and ethnic cleansing in Palestine today .

Sam Levi| 3.10.11 @ 10:43AM

You're a hoot. Ever heard of the Dead Sea scrolls?
The Torah changed and tampered with.......what a maroon.
You just changed your story from "must believe" to "are respected: ergo, you are a liar and Islam is a sham.
And it's ISRAEL not Palestine......
"It makes no sense from any moral angle to use divine justification for murder and ethnic cleansing in Palestine today ."
And just what do you think the Palestinians you are so righteous about are doing? Islam's goal to push Israel "into the sea".....
Crawl back under your rock...

Richard Baker| 3.9.11 @ 2:45PM

John:
"Islam by comparison has not a single violent bone on it." Amazing that you could say such as Sunni live to kill Shia who live to kill Wahhabi and all are dedicated to the death of Infidels. I guess 9/11, the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, and all the rest were done by those damned Presbyterians, eh? The Koran is a murder/killing code similar to Japanese Bushido. As Allen West has said recently : Don't try to blow sunshine up my butt" on this subject.

gsr| 3.9.11 @ 3:09PM

You are correct, similar to Japanese Bushido. Good point.

Stop your killing me.......

I thought you were required to believe the Torah.....

John| 3.9.11 @ 5:57PM

Judaism is only for Jews . Islam is for everyone. The christains have taken a wrong turn with the trinity business. That leaves only Islam as a universal monotheism.

Amnesty International National Security Expert to Observe Chairman King's Hearing re: the American Muslim Community...
WASHINGTON, March 9, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Geneve Mantri, Amnesty International USA government relations director for national security and human rights, will be observing the U.S. House Homeland Security Committee hearing on "The Extent of Radicalization in the American Muslim Community and that Community's Response."

He will be available to the media to provide commentary and analysis during and after the hearing.

"Amnesty International is deeply troubled by the perception, real or not, that Chairman King is trying to stigmatize and demonize an entire community because of the actions of a few people," said Mantri. "Muslim Americans have no more connection with acts of terrorism than average Americans on Main Street with the actions of Timothy McVeigh or the Atlanta bomber, Eric Rudolph."

Pat| 3.9.11 @ 3:57PM

Unless it’s meant as a rhetorical question, what American Muslims are so afraid of is obviously mean white guys. Every other American minority is afraid of mean white guys so why not our Muslims? Blacks and Hispanics harbor the fear all male, American descendants of non-Jewish northern Europeans will someday rise up and drive them from this land – or worse. Whenever a juicy entitlement is on the line, white guys are always portrayed as former Klansmen - or wannabe Kluxers if under the age of 12. White women are convinced mean white guys (which is a surprisingly large percentage of all white guys) are out to enslave them back into their kitchens – barefoot and pregnant. Gun controllers secretly fear mean white guys, convinced the only good gun is a gun not in the hands of a mean white guy – unless it’s a white cop stopping a mugging – their mugging in particular.

What’s your basic mean white guy to do? How do we calm these minorities down, soothe some unwarranted fear? Even portraying white guys in popular entertainment as imbecilic clods, supported behind the scenes and mentally dominated by their wives, doesn’t entirely serve to vanish this universal “mean white guy” fear. So, if you’re a white guy, make the effort to appear meek and mild, act a little effeminate like a Barney Frank on the podium hugging Barack Obama during a press conference orgy – use your imagination and let’s put this “mean” image to rest. Not vanish “mean” entirely however, mean white guys are always welcome party guests whenever some foreign despot is out to destroy us – even American Muslims are convinced mean white guys are the ultimate in nasty dudes – maybe that’s why, when we’re unarmed, we get shot at so often.

Sam Levi| 3.9.11 @ 5:30PM

Why can't Jews be mean white guys too?

The muslims in the government seem to think we are....
(to back up my claim, the deputy of the IT department (a GS15) for the Miner's Safety Health Administration is a muslim from Pakistan (if he isn't director already) and the entire IT security department for the same group is muslim.)

Pat| 3.9.11 @ 7:46PM

Sam, your Mean White Guy card is in the outgoing and on its way to your mailbox - enjoy. But in those decades before the JDL earned its rep and the Israeli’s began exporting Krav Maga to every suburban kid in this country, American Jews had to be content with the Real Smart White Guy label, there just weren’t that many Jewish varmint hunters from Long Island who could shoot the ears off a prairie dog at 200 yards using open sights. No offense intended and welcome to the honorary ranks of Scotch-Irish hillbillies from the backwoods of Kentucky.

Muslims, both the jahadist types and others, will use our liberal media, courts and politicians to defeat us without another shot being fired. They now realize our fear of being called politically incorrect is enough to stop us in our tracks. A Muslim sympathizer in the W.H. and DOJ doesn't help us either. If this continues after 2012 the country will not survive as our founders envisioned.

Dan| 3.9.11 @ 4:29PM

The biggest threats to our country are Muslims already in our prisons and those being converted to Islam, while in our prison system. And I doubt if any non Muslims know what anti American rhetoric is being preached in the Muslim mosques springing up all over the country.

Mitch Angoop| 3.9.11 @ 5:48PM

I am seriously afraid that civil war is the only result of the divisions being fostered by obama and his lib allies. The only thing that has kept them remotely in check is the presence of an unknown number of firearms in the hands of Americans who know how to use them.

If obama didn't have to fear our weapons, we'd already be a total dictatorship. Just think of what his willing lackies are doing to us behind closed doors... Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty. Unfortunately, way too many Americans even suspect what these traitors are doing to us.

Even Bill O'Reilly, somebody who I once respected as an independent thinker and analyst; now spends most of his time attempting to insult us into submission while he continually praises our imposter president who will not even tell us who he really is. Frankly, everybody in the lamestream media should be fired and arrested for complicity in the whole affair of obama's hidden documentation. What's he so afraid of? And, Mr. O'Reilly, why won't YOU press him?

Sam Levi| 3.9.11 @ 5:31PM

Isn't it obvious?
It is an invitation.

All American American| 3.10.11 @ 7:58AM

Actually Seek according to the traditions, this is what allah commanded of mohammed and his followers. You see mohammed went to paradise while in a dream (his "Night Journey" is what muslims call it I believe), and allah told him they needed to pray 50 times/day. Then on the way back down to earth Moses spoke to mohammed and asked "hey what did allah say?" Mohammded told him, and Moses said that's too much, go back and ask for less. So mohammed went back and allah knocked it down to 40.

Well, this went on a few times until mohammed and allah agreed on the now 5 prayers a day.

I am not making this stuff up. I swear if more Americans would read the koran and hadith they'd be like, "What kind of idiotic, moronic, third-grade drivel is THIS???"

Intelligent Design| 3.9.11 @ 6:08PM

Islam is a political ideology and organization whose goal is to merge "church" and state, banning religious freedom, individual freedom, and secular law. For example, in Saudi Arabia the constitution is the Koran, the law is "holy law" (shari'a), and the practice of any "religion" other than Islam is prohibited. Islam discriminates against anyone who is not a Muslim, whether they be Jews, Christians, Buddhists, or more generally speaking, Infidels.

Islam is subversive to the U.S. Constitution, and Congress should identify it as such. True religions oppose evil, whereas Islam embodies evil. It is fundamentally at odds with modern civilization. Muslims should abandon the 7th century and join the 21st, by rejecting Islam. Of course they will risk the death penalty for apostasy. The problem is not just Muslim terrorists, or "radical Islamists", or the Muslim Brotherhood. The problem is Islam itself.
