The Obama Watch

Why Does Obama Support Regime Change in Egypt But Not in Iran?

Once again, his predecessor George W. Bush is making him look bad.

Last week, I attended the premiere of the film Iranium, a documentary about Iran’s Islamic regime and its apocalyptic intentions towards the United States, Israel, and the rest of the world, not to mention its own people.

Yet with the protests in Tahrir Square, Egypt was very much on the minds of those assembled. How could it not be? After all, the beginning of the film showed scenes from the demonstrations that gripped Tehran in early 1979. A critical mass of Iranian society, both secular and Islamic, joined forces to demand that Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, better known as the Shah, leave office. The protesters, of course, got their wish and ended up with a regime far worse than they could have possibly imagined.

In 2011, there is very little to leave to the imagination. Despite the largely secular aspirations of the protesters in Cairo, the Muslim Brotherhood remains the best organized opposition force (and best armed) in the country. While some might take comfort in Hosni Mubarak’s departure and take additional comfort in the Egyptian military temporarily taking the reins of power, the political situation in Egypt is far from resolved. With such fragility and uncertainty abound one cannot discount the possibility of an Iran like Islamic takeover albeit a Sunni version.

As I was watching Iranium I thought to myself, “Why does President Obama support the aspirations of the Egyptian people in 2011 but not those of the Iranian people in 2009?” Following the film, two Iranian dissidents, both members of the Confederation of Iranian Students, addressed the audience. One of them was Siavash Sartipi, who currently resides in Germany. During the Q & A, I asked Sartipi if he was perplexed by President Obama’s inconsistency. Sartipi replied that not only was he perplexed but wondered why Obama was prepared to “meddle” in Egypt but not in Iran.

Indeed, in the space of fifteen days, President Obama issue three separate statements on the protests in Egypt. Consider what Obama had to say during his second statement on Egypt, which was prompted by Mubarak’s announcement on February 1 that he would leave office in September:

Now, it is not the role of any other country to determine Egypt’s leaders. Only the Egyptian people can do that. What is clear — and what I indicated tonight to President Mubarak — is my belief that an orderly transition must be meaningful, it must be peaceful, and it must begin now.

Furthermore, the process must include a broad spectrum of Egyptian voices and opposition parties. It should lead to elections that are free and fair. And it should result in a government that’s not only grounded in democratic principles, but is also responsive to the aspirations of the Egyptian people.

Now it’s true that President Obama never used the term “regime change.” Yet by calling for free and fair elections in Egypt, for all intents this is exactly what he was proposing. Well, there was an “election” held in Iran in 2009 that was neither free nor fair. But did President Obama demand of the Mullahs and of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad that there be an orderly transition? He made no such demand of the Iranian regime. Instead, President Obama stood in the Rose Garden and told the people of Iran he didn’t want “to be seen as meddling in Iran’s elections.” Those words have made a lasting impression on the Iranian people. Indeed, Obama’s words were shown in Iranium.

Sartipi further noted what had made a lasting impression on the Iranian people was Obama’s message earlier in 2009 during the traditional Persian holiday of Nowruz in which he called upon “the Islamic Republic of Iran to take its rightful place in the community of nations.” Unlike President Obama, President Bush never harbored any such illusions during his Nowruz message of 2008 and expressed his desire for the Iranian people “to live in a free society.” Bush went on to call Iran’s reformers “brave people” who “have no better friend than George W. Bush.” Not only has President Obama never described himself as a friend of Iran’s reformers but his futile efforts to engage the Iranian regime have served only to legitimize it. So is it any wonder that members of Iran’s pro-democracy Green Movement would ask, “Obama! Are you with us or are you against us?”

Iranians undoubtedly have that question on their minds as they have once again taken to the streets. Despite the Iranian regime’s public support for the demonstrations in Egypt, they have made it clear they brook no dissent within their own borders. While National Security Adviser Tom Donilon and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton have made statements critical of Iran with regard to its handling of internal dissent, as of this writing President Obama has not done so.

Should protests in Iran should grow as they did in Egypt and if the Iranian regime meets these protests with an escalation of violence, then President Obama cannot sit on the sidelines and let members of his Cabinet do the talking. If President Obama does talk then he must demand Iran hold free and fair elections which result in a government guided by democratic principles which responds to the aspirations of the Iranian people. In other words, he must be prepared to demand of Ahmadinejad what he has demanded of Mubarak.

But if President Obama is unwilling to make such demands then he must tell us why the aspirations of Iranians are not as important as the aspirations of Egyptians. President Obama must tell us why he supports regime change in Egypt but not in Iran.

There is also unrest in Yemen, another US ally. And Obama seems to be backing the protestors. So here we have a president backing opposition to governments friendly to the US (Egypt and Yemen) and ignoring opposition to a government hostile to the US (Iran). Anyone else concerned?

David W| 2.15.11 @ 9:20AM

It is clear, in my mind, that Obama likes the Iranian theocrats for the following reasons:
1) They kidnapped and held hostage American citizens, violating international law but more important - slapping the US in the face.
2) They were able to rub our noses in "it" after the failed rescue attempt.

In both cases the little country of Iran kicked the big USA in the crotch. This is something that our current President appreciates. Anything that can knock the evil US down a few notches. Countries that are friendly, or actually do our "bidding" are countries that Obama cannot support - it goes against the training he has received from Rev. Wright and Bill Ayers.

To hijack a phrase from the global warming proponents, this view by Obama of the US is pretty settled. Let's just hope that the mental pygmies who blindly supported Obama in 2008 will open their eyes before the election in 2012.

SpiralArchitect | 2.15.11 @ 1:11PM

Interestingly, you know where good ole' Wm. Ayers has been for the last month plus ( let me give you a hint the it begins with Egyp_ )
Interesting bit, eh?

Want to see another fascinating read - http://www.renewamerica.com/columns/jon/110214 Unbelieveable how much this person hates all that the country he is 'President ' & all she stands for.

It occurred to me, the one good thing about B.O. ( he stinks) is that perhaps, hopefully, in the future the populace will be more scrutonous of potential secret Muslims or /and America haters for elections ( all elections ) but MLK had a dream too & look where it got him :(

BackToBasics| 2.15.11 @ 11:35PM

Yes, whatever is bad for America, Obam likes. Whatever force is the MOST anti-American he backs. Iranian tyrannical leaders are the most anti-American so he backs them and not the people protesting. Mubarak in Egypt is more pro-American so he backs the opposite group, in this case the protesters......

I've mentioned this about 3 times in the last 10 days on posts and others here have mentioned it as well. On one or 2 occasions, I asked this question of liberals posting on here who support BHO and of course it was not replied to since they had no answer they could admit to. Good to see an entire article about it.

AzDebi| 2.24.11 @ 11:31PM

Thank you for the link...the article was certainly informative and fascinating! God Bless America!

Yes| 2.15.11 @ 1:50PM

Exactly right... if you knew history you would know that the evil regime in Iran USES U.S. encouragement of its dissenters AGAINST them and claims that there are "foreign instigators" etc. So it's only LOGICAL (yes, logic is good) that he try to let them succeed in their revolution without our help initially otherwise it would be crushed extra forcefully as US intervention. However I do think that Obama miscalculated thinking that the protesters had enough momentum in 2009 to get the job done while being able to claim the US did NOT intervene... So hopefully now he can try to apply more pressure in a calculated way.

And yes, it DOES have a big impact in favor of democracy when the US is even-handed enough to criticize its OWN friends and recommend regime change in Egypt e.g. because the world sees that if we discipline our FRIENDS we're not just engaging in crony-ism.

It's wonderful how the people on this site can take the obvious and spin it into some convoluted conspiracey.

Anyone who understands diplomacy is nodding their heads with me, and the rest of you Limbaugh/Beck/Hannity fans probably have some other excuse for why Obama's careful calculation are "wrong". I guess he should make a big deal about how the US wants the overthrow of the regime and let them use that as an excuse to brutalize the dissenters, right? It seems everyone here thinks one-dimensionally. But dissenting on this site is unpleasant because the sheer number of brainwashed, ignorant, racist comments here is just plain ugly.

Steve A| 2.15.11 @ 2:25PM

Yes, I happen to agree with the first 3 paragraphs you wrote. I also love to listen to Rrush, Hannity, Beck etc. but I will tell you that my impression is that they are simply unwilling to cut Obama any slack on this Egypt deal.

First off, I do not really think Obama could have had any impact on events one way or the other. The only valid criticism is that he tried to play both sides of the fence. After all, he is a politician, what do you expect?

Secondly, I feel that the developments in Egypt & elsewhere are a net positive for the long term. Short term, who knows. With new freedoms in Iraq & Afghanistan on full display in the Middle East, new social media to broadcast this liberty & Egypt as an example of what is possible, I would be looking for the Exit if I were a Middle East tyrant.

There are 2 primary forces responsible for this middle east transformation: George Bush & the USA military. Facebook & social media. Obama is along for the ride.

Yes| 2.15.11 @ 2:36PM

For once there's a comment that's reasonable and non-propagandistic. I salute you for that on this ugly site.

"Along for the ride" i would disagree... The Art of Diplomacy is like Chess... one can appear neutral while actually DOING things, that's a real talent. So, when you suggest that Obama appears to only be taking a passive role implies that he's actually doing his job better than most think... because there is a ton of wrangling going on behind the scene and the "audiences" are on all sides, our friends AND enemies... So if Obama appears to be doing nothing, perhaps he's doing what he IS doing perfectly... Ever heard of a "poker face"? If everyone knows what game Obama is playing right off the bat, then he loses before he even starts. Somehow this logic escapes 90% of the posters here.
But kudos to you for you surprisingly reasoned reply.

Steve A| 2.15.11 @ 2:43PM

Very well. Take care. Hope you return.

W| 2.15.11 @ 6:11PM

exactly what game is obama playing and how do you know what he is playing?

"The president has alienated everybody: not only Mubarak’s cronies in the military, but also the youthful crowds in the streets of Cairo. Whoever ultimately wins, Obama loses. And the alienation doesn’t end there. America’s two closest friends in the region—Israel and Saudi Arabia—are both disgusted. The Saudis, who dread all manifestations of revolution, are appalled at Washington’s failure to resolutely prop up Mubarak. The Israelis, meanwhile, are dismayed by the administration’s apparent cluelessness."

You folks are all blinded by the smokescreens . Iran is already in the hands of islam . Eygypt is a plum being dropped into the hands of the muslim brotherhood by obummers pressure on Mubarak to quit before any other political org can form .

"Once again, his predecessor George W. Bush is making him look bad."

Obama can only do better than Bush, even if he tried to make things worse. Bush was the worst president since his father-- and if you voted for either of them, whose problem is that? whose guilt?

Appleby| 2.15.11 @ 7:01AM

That was my thinking exactly -- Obama wants to overthrow friendly governments and prop up our enemies. Either he is the antichrist or he is a puppet thereof. And it will not be long until we learn which it is.

Um, electoral votes supercede popular votes.

Ohio, Pennsylvania, Florida - BIGGIN electoral votes - have gone to Republican Governorship this past November.

One does not believe those GOP governors are going to sit on their butts and not be ENGAGED to
get out the vote for the Republican candidate in 2012.

canuckistani| 2.15.11 @ 10:45AM

Perhaps there's another reason.

Everyone seems to leave out Saudi in any of these calculations.

I believe the machinations within the Kingdom of Fat Bastardia are playing important roles.

The rift between traditional (Sunni) and factional (Shia) Islam as as large as ever, with an increasing number of marginalized Shia resident in Arab faux-kingdoms ready to jump on the revolution bandwagons.
I believe Saudi is hystercally afraid of a nuclear Iran, but strangely the Iranian obsession with Israel may actually be mitigating their ire for the House of Saud.

It will interesting to observe the near period.

Another interesting point is that no-one of consequence in the Iranian opposition is suggesting a dismantling of the Islamic state. We may in fact be trading a known quantity - which is universally despised and somewhat contained, for a dynamic that is far outside our control, with no assurances the next regime will be moderated.

I do not envy any pres or diplomat in this era of uncertainty.

We should be patient on Iran, becasue when it comes to understanding Persia, we suck at it.

Some Tabasco:
Our last foray into nation-building and projected power for dubious reasons gave us Iraq, $1T for no oil and most importantly: BHO. The 50K wounded and nearly 2M new vets is also our gift from Junior that keeps on giving.

And a little Bhut Jolokia:
RR's cabal of freedom fighters, including Ollie North, Buster Poindexter and Cap Weinberger, entered into the probably the greatest folly of them all when dealing with Iran. They sought out "moderates" within the regime and got hosed badly, transferring weapons like Hawk and TOW missiles, insinuated Israel as well.
We were the laughing stock within diplomatic circles and the October Surprise conspiracy was allowed to live on for years. Our impatient patriots nearly sank RR's admin, and showed us playing both sides in the Iran-Iraq war.

Too harsh on Chamberlain for several reasons:
1. Chamberlain was a British Patriot who was sincerely concerned for his country.

2. Chamberlain eventually did recognize his mistakes and the need to fight the Nazis. Unfortunately for him, he died before he could do anything about it.

Obama seems to have not the slightest tinge of concern for his country and completely lacking in the ability to admit mistakes or engage in a real fight (not a Chicago style political fight).

hey, you learned how to spell one word.

Negro X| 2.15.11 @ 6:46PM

You are pretty tough for a little faggot. Bet your not so tough when the Brothers have you bent over.

Yes| 2.15.11 @ 5:59PM

Because if you can't beat my arguments, that's all you have, huh? Pretty pathetic. But go ahead and make that threat a little more concrete and desperate, I dare you.

FTM| 2.16.11 @ 12:03AM

Not a threat actually, just an observation. An observation that you are an immature jerk with a computer. Now that's pathetic.

Yes| 2.16.11 @ 10:17AM

12:03 AM?

So I guess it IS true that old people have. like chronic insomnia! Not something I'm looking forward to, nor the mental deterioration that apparently ensues...

Anthony| 2.15.11 @ 8:42AM

Need you really ask this question? Obozo and Ahmadinejad are brothers in the fight for the acendency of militant Islam over America and the West.
Obozo would bow to Ahmadinjad, but the militant midget is too damn short.

Intelligent Design| 2.15.11 @ 8:42AM

Obama is comfortable with the Islamic regime in Iran, and would like to rid Egypt of any traces of secularism. But he is advising the Muslim Brotherhood to disguise itself, including a name change to Progressive Brotherhood.

Negro X| 2.15.11 @ 6:47PM

Too Many Tims| 2.15.11 @ 9:09AM

Why doesn't Obama criticize the anti-american regime of Iran? Professional courtesy...

Doctor Right| 2.15.11 @ 9:40AM

Obama supported the Government over the protesters in Iran because the Government is a Muslim Theocracy.

Obama supports the protesters over the Government in Egypt because the protesters there are supported by the Muslim Brotherhood, and they wish to transform Egypt into a Muslim theocracy.

In ant crisis involving Muslims vs. non-Muslims, don't waste time looking for the underlying, root causes of the conflict to try and figure out who Obama will support. He will support the side that supports Islam.

That's because he is a Muslim.

Once you accept that simple fact, and combine it with his malignant narcissism, his actions are easy to explain.

BackToBasics| 2.16.11 @ 12:47AM

Yes, it is a simple formula to predict who he will back. And add to it some inherited grudges against colonialism and the formula will predict who he will bow to, i.e. leaders of color, and who he will backslap, Queen Elizabeth.

It's a simple formula but it can be used to predict so many things regarding his proclivities and "policies."

And though his mouth moves and speaks of democracy in Egypt, he'd like nothing better than to get the people out of the election process here in America if he could get away with it.

Ohiolad| 2.15.11 @ 9:48AM

From Obama’s full support for the protesters in Egypt that will probably lead to an anti-American Islamic theocratic dictatorship and the total lack of support for those in Iran protesting against an Islamic theocratic dictatorship, it is hard to escape the conclusion that Obama is at heart an Islamic socialist. Nothing else fits. It’s just another reason to believe that we have put into the White House someone who is basically an enemy to this country.

y8r| 2.15.11 @ 10:09AM

My take on BO is that Egypt is the friendliest Arab nation toward Israel. Any successor would likely be anti-Israel. Iran already falls in line with BO's stance so why promote change there?

Da Monk| 2.15.11 @ 10:10AM

Please: What proof do you have he is a Muslim? Previously you accused him of admirer of an anti-white Protestan minister. Make up your minds

Doctor Right| 2.15.11 @ 10:25AM

Sorry, "Da Monk", but there's something called "logic" that you need to become acquainted with before anyone takes you seriously on this board.

The idea that Obama is a Muslim (he is) and that he attended a racist, anti-American protestant Church for over 20 years are NOT contradictory. They are, in fact, complimentary.

The idea that links Obama and Wright is not God, and it certainly is NOT Christ (neither of them are Christians). It is hatred of America and the west, and a desire to see western civilization brought down.

For Wright, the race-baiting Elmer Gantry who hides behind the pulpit to spew his hatred and idiocy, the main source of evil in the world are white guys. He repeatedly invokes slavery (which ended in 1865, by the way) to continually stoke the fire for racial animosity because that's how he makes his living. He's a charlatan.

Obama was attracted to Wright because he (Obama) wanted to understand and apply Wright's demagoguery to the larger, global view. Wright is all about settling local scores, and fattening his wallet (like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson). Obama thinks bigger; he doesn't disagree with Wright, but he wants the entire 1st-world to pay for the "crimes" (real and/or imagined) perpetuated against the developing world since the days of the Crusades. Obama is a strategist; Wright is merely a tactician.

What proof do I have that he's a Muslim?

1. His Dad
2. His upbringing in Indonesia
3. His books
4. His bowing to the Saudi Prince
5. His 1st trip abroad as President was to the Muslim world
6. His refusal to support the Iranians against their Islamist oppressors
7. His embrace of the Egyptian protesters who are supported by the Muslim Brotherhood
8. His directive that NASA (NASA!) devote resources to "Muslim outreach"...(???)
9. etc, etc, etc...

Actions speak louder than words.

He IS a Muslim. Period.

If you're going to try and deny this, use real, concrete examples. Otherwise, don't bother.

Yes| 2.15.11 @ 1:35PM

You are an idiot douchebag.

Doctor Right| 2.15.11 @ 2:00PM

"Liberal fool"...Is that an oxymoron?

Yeah... you'd better stick to your own kind here....

FTM| 2.15.11 @ 5:54PM

Liberal states, you mean the states that are crushing themselves under a debt burden that they expect someone else to pay? Those states? The refuge states, where whoever from wherever can come in and sign themselves up for whatever social services that their little hearts desire and it'll all be OK in the end because the evil, rich people will be made to pay for it all? Those states?

Boy are you in for a suprise when you get out of school, when you take off your rose colored glasses, cut your hair, shave, take a bath and walk away from your ivory tower and get a job.

You won't last a week in the wild.

Yes| 2.15.11 @ 6:02PM

I'm IN the wild you loser! By the way, google it, red states vs. blue, you have no correlation re: financial health. E.g., you people may like to ridicule California, but a little temporary deficit does not make a failing state when you consider future tax revenues... So, put up the data or shut up... if you make it interesting moneywise (wager) i might even take you up on the google-it challenge. Till then, you don't get to make up pseudo-facts cause someone on the radio said it was so. I have data that says your Red vs. Blue state financial soundness argument is hogwash. Try the truth for a change instead of propaganda. Look it up yourself and stop copying others' words.

DR. RIGHT, WRONG AGAIN! ALL YOU OFFER IS INNEUENDO. 1)WHAT PROOF DO YOU HAVE HE IS A MUSLIM? BECAUSE HIS FATHER WAS A MUSLIM? WHAT ABOUT HIS MOTHER AND HIS GRANDPARENTS ARE YOU SAYING THEY HAD NO INFLUENCE ON HIS RELIGIOUS UPBRINGING.
2) OBAMA LIVED IN INDONESIA FOR 5 YEARS FROM 5 TO 10 YEARS THE REST OF THE TIME IN THE U.S.
3) WHAT ABOUT HIS BOOKS? PLEASE CITE HIS "ALLEGIENCE" TO ISLAM?
4) HE BOWED TO A SAUDI PRINCE. I GUESS ALL THE PEOPLE WHO BOW AND CURTSEY TO QUEEN ELIZABETH HAVE TO BE CONSIDERED BRITS NO MATTER THEIR ORGIN ACCORDING TO YOUR DEFINITION. WHAT ABOUT OUR DIPLOMATS WHO BOW JAPANESE DIPLOMATS? IT'S A SIGN OF COURTESY TO THE CUSTOM OF THE COUNTRY THEY VISIT.
4) OK HIS FIRST TRIP ABROAD WAS TO THE MID-EAST. YOU HAVE TO START SOMEWHERE. WHERE DO YOU, SIR, SUGGEST?
5) NON SUPPORT FOR IRANIANS FROM THEIR ISLAMIC OPPRESSORS. HOW DO YOU KNOW HE IS NOT DOING SOMETHING SECRETLY LIKE BUGGING THE IRANIAN ATOMIC PROGRAM?
6) YOU STATE "HE EMBRACED THE EGYPTIAN PROTESTORS WHO ARE SUPPORTED BY THE MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD" FYI: THE MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD PLAYED A SMALL ROLE IN THE REVOLT AND ONLY ENTERED LATE IN THE BATTLE. THE REVOULTION WAS THE ENTIRE CITIZENRY OF EGYPT.
8) CAN'T SAY I KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THE NASA THING SO I WON'T COMMENT
NO, DOCTOR "WRONG" IT'S YOU THE ACCUSER WHO HAS TO OFFER CONCRETE EXAMPLES. IN MY OPINION YOU WOULD HAE DONE WELL IN THE INQUISTION OR THE SALEM TRIALS

Doctor Right| 2.15.11 @ 2:09PM

I suggest that you depress the "caps lock" button on your keyboard.

Otherwise, you appear to be a madman who has spittle flying from the corners of his mouth while you type.

Your juvenile insinuation regarding the Inquisition or the Salem Witch trials is laughably predictable. Would that be the Spanish or Italian inquisition? And where IS Salem, actually?

I know he's not doing anything about the Iranian nuclear program for two (2) simple reasons:

1. He's stupid, and
2. He likes it...Because he's a Muslim.

There's a difference between a President and a Diplomat. Diplomats bow, Presidents don't...Ever. Or at least, they didn't bow until O-dimwit became President. For the same reason, the US Navy NEVER dips it's ensign to foreign ships.

And yes, his non-religious mother and maternal grandparents had no religious influence on him.

So we've established that:

1. Obama IS a Muslim, and
2. I know more about him than you do.

Yes| 2.15.11 @ 2:13PM

Even O'Reilly and Limbaugh think you "obama is a muslim" people are lunatics. Guess it must be exciting to live on the Fringe of the Far Fringe...

DRed| 2.15.11 @ 4:30PM

Presidents before Obama have bowed to foreign leaders before. Nixon, for example. I know, you heard on Fox that Obama was the first, but to be fair and balanced I'd like to point out that you're wrong.

Doctor Right| 2.16.11 @ 2:05PM

Got a pick, or a source to back that up? Or are you just talking out of your ass?

DRed| 2.16.11 @ 7:32PM

Well, there are images out there, but I can't get them past the spam filter on this site. Just google "Nixon bow" or "Eisenhower bow".

buckyeman| 2.15.11 @ 10:12AM

Ohiolad: Good post, my boy. Obama's hatred of his putative "native" land is the natural consequence of his own self-loathing. He is clearly faithless in general so I don't believe he is a true muslim but rather has warm fuzzy feeling toward islam. His support for the Iranian Islamic Dictators comes naturally for him but the Egyptian dynamics were more complex. He dawdled for a few days because it took him a while to determine which faction would be the most harmful to US interests, then he backed them.

Matthew Quigley| 2.15.11 @ 10:29AM

I honestly doubt that anything would please Obama more than seeing the mullahcracy in Iran spread through the middle east...and then entrench itself here. In my considered opinion, Hussein is a toxic mix of Democrat constituencies combined into one foul package: A Marxist supporter of islamists and racists. Any nation or ideology which opposes liberty and the United States is his ally or he crushes on it. In short, he is a threat to our national existence, adheres to our enemies by providing them aid and comfort, and warrants prosecution and the Constitutionally mandated punishment for his treason.

Yes| 2.15.11 @ 2:14PM

Do you people really BELIEVE this garbage or is this just a 'fun site for kicks'? Cause it's *so* crazy even my friends in the Militias don't believe that sh-t. Wait, maybe Jared Loughner is in your court.

Tadit Kundu| 2.15.11 @ 10:32AM

Obama's behaviour is logical... An emperor can only issue directives on states that fall within the empire's border... Egypt, Yemen and many other samll Arab states fall within the US empire and the American empire has supported the respective governments... Therefore it is in America's interest to see an orderly transition in its allies. On the other hand, Iran does not come under the US empire.

Ken (Old Texican)| 2.15.11 @ 10:41AM

Aaron, sometimes my own prescience sends chills down my own arms. Please word search "dithering" in my novel.

Yes| 2.15.11 @ 2:17PM

Your NOVEL!!!!!

Ho ho ho, I didn't realize that Glenn Beck/StarWars fan-fiction really rose to the level where you could call your keyboard ramblings a "novel". If you get published by any press known to man, please contact me and I will send you $10,000. Good luck with that!

Like you invented "dithering"... That's a stupid "talking point" that's been going around for the last several years since your good buddy shamed-General McCrystal tried to rope Obama to send more troops to Afghanistan a couple years ago....
Ho ho ho.

Ken (Old Texican)| 2.15.11 @ 3:15PM

Hi Yes
Welcome to the conversation.
I needed a few laughs today.
There is a really neat little trick in E-books that allows one to find a particular word. One has to own the book first of course.

Reading your posts here I note that you enjoy fiction a lot...check out chapter one on the web page. www.texassaidno.com
When I complete part two, I will go ahead and kill some trees. If your mom will give you an advance on your allowance, you can buy it all inside one cover.
Have a nice adolescence.

Yes| 2.15.11 @ 3:40PM

YOU will go ahead and kill some trees... You mean that you will self-publish, right? "Vanity-press" it?

Gosh, you managed to take your musings and make a PDF FILE?! Which at some point you will commit to PAPER?!
That is so impressive! BTW I come from a family of writers who are published, William Morrow among the publishers in case you were wondering...
So, if running off a few copies of your ridiculousness on a laser-printer, stapling it, and having approximately 5 pseudo-friends read the first couple pages, pretend to read the rest and throw a couple vague compliments your way is enough satisfaction to justify the 100 nights you spent typing like a madman and imagining yourself interviewed by Rush... well, then I guess you like to spend your time differently from the way "normal people" would... But hey, good luck on your writing career... Maybe you should have a few real fans before you have the Attitude... just a thought!

Ken (Old Texican)| 2.15.11 @ 4:36PM

Heh, Actually over three hundred "early mornings", scribbling, (typing), furiously.

The hard part isn't the writing however. It's the thinking leading to the writing that is difficult.

As a country, we are confronted with some real existential problems.
Instead of wasting your time dissing folks here, please consider wrestling with some of those problems.
Thank you

Yes| 2.15.11 @ 5:32PM

I AM, by being on this site and attempting to rebut plain ignorance like the accusations that our President is a Muslim!!

I do it in other ways too. Now if you could stick to the truth yourself and not invent stuff like that you are a "best selling novelist" I will try and stop dissing you...

George| 2.15.11 @ 6:22PM

What is wrong with being a Muslim? Who are you to rebut it and why? Did someone appoint you to rebut the claim he is a Muslim?

GavInTucson| 2.15.11 @ 9:50PM

And there you have it, George. Yes sees Islam as a bad thing, a slur, a pejorative.

He just won't admit it outright.

Yes| 2.16.11 @ 10:32AM

Nothing wrong with being a Muslim (but I prefer when people aren't radical militant fundamentalists... of ANY religion).

But calling a Christian guy a Muslim cause his FATHER who he never KNEW was... well that's just a lie! Nothing wrong with being a girl, but do you want me to call YOU one? See, that's called "Logic"!

BTW, I'm a Jew, mentioned it elsewhere. But I say Muslims have the right to be Muslim, but America has separation of Church & State, no Sharia Law *here* if I still have a vote!

Doctor Right| 2.16.11 @ 2:10PM

America has a "separation of Church and state"?

Really?!?!

Do tell! Is it written down somewhere?

GavInTucson| 2.16.11 @ 9:42PM

It's certainly written in the communist manifesto. It's one of the communism's pillars.

Doctor Right| 2.16.11 @ 9:30AM

Which "family of writers" spawned you? They must be oh-so-important, I'm sure.

Pony up or shut-up, l'il libby boy!

Yes| 2.16.11 @ 10:29AM

Both parents are multiply published authors, 1 non-fiction reference book (From Berkeley Books, was interviewed by many people regarding it including Larry King), and 2 fiction works (William Morrow, publisher, heard of em?), another one on the way, recommendations in front by several well known and multimillion selling authors. Then again *I* didn't write them, my mother (w/help from father) did.

I'm not stupid enough to give you my last NAME though. But how bout you give me YOURS?

I put up, now you SHUT UP. You see, unlike people here, I don't make sh-t up. No NEED to.

Doctor Right| 2.16.11 @ 2:09PM

Look, Sheldon...Here's a simple lesson in life:

Proof.

Got any?

Doctor Right| 2.16.11 @ 2:12PM

For example:

I have a Bachelor's from Harvard, a Master's from Harvard, and a PhD from Columbia.

My father invented the secret formula for Coca-Cola; my mom perfected open-heart surgery. My brother won the Medal of Honor - 3 times!

See! I'm important, too!

Bob Grant| 2.15.11 @ 4:40PM

Ted,

I Find Texs' ramblings to be novel (adj.), you know, in a quirky, off-base, left-field kind of way.

To put them in an (((actual novel)) displays the kind of rugged individualism and capitalism that makes this country .......................... umm, you know kinda quirky and odd ball.

Why anyone is perplexed is beyond me. Mubarek was an oppressive autocrat, but also a friend of peace in the region, and an important ally. Egypt, however, is not a major oil producer and its military has deep ties with our military. Hence, it was easy to get on the side of the protesters in Egypt and help ease Mubarek into retirement.

Iran, however, is an entirely different situation. There are no friendly ties between any element of Iran's ruling class and our own. The Mullahs are nearing the atomic threshold, and are capable of fomenting chaos next door - in Iraq - where thousands of American servicemen and civilians have bright red targets painted on their backs. Oh, and let’s not forget about Iran’s constant threat to interrupt the flow of oil in the Straits of Hormuz.

In short, Obama - a moral coward and international clown - is more than happy to encourage "regime change" in countries where the United States can safely monitor events from a distance. When the going gets tough, as in Iran, and where there are significant risks in encouraging protesters, don’t count on Obama saying a word. He might create an international incident which plunges the world into oil shock, or worse, he might look stupid (not hard to do).

Forget about the vicious, oppressive Mullahs, and the young people dying in, and disappearing from, the streets of Tehran. The twit POTUS is too busy hiding behind Hillary’s shrill skirt.

Sad to say, but our nation's current crop of so-called leaders are simply incapable of dealing with a problem as complex as Iran.

And - no - I am not suggesting "we go to war." And, no, I was not commenting on Iraq. Rather, I was commenting on the inept POTUS and his clownish minions who'd prefer to hide from, rather than confront, the evil embedded in Iran's ruling class which - even as we speak - has vowed to EXECUTE protesters (now, that's rude).

Any word, yet, from that churl in the White House on the promise to execute protesters in Iran? His silence is deafening to the brave young people fighting for their lives. You are a fool for supporting such an abject coward.

vtwin| 2.15.11 @ 1:31PM

What about Turkey? Turkey is both a democracy and is a predominately Muslim country. And, like Turkey, Egypt has close military to military ties with the United States. Yes, with the cold war behind us Egypt could become the next Turkey as opposed to the next Iran provided the neoconservatives don’t freak-out and demand cuts in the military aid to Egypt undoing this thirty plus year relationship because a few Muslim Brotherhoods get elected to the new Egyptian Parliament.

THATs COMMUNIST-STYLE CENSORSHIP.

And all you others just follow along, don't you? Thinking everyone agrees with you, since you are sheltered from other views that disagree with you.

If the Spectator was an honest publication they would let other views through.... What a laugh.

Yes| 2.15.11 @ 1:39PM

You should be so proud of yourself, going to a site where 100% of people already agree with you before you even came to the door, then "debating" with people who already agree with you. If that's not stupid "groupthink" then nothing is. Please point me to where you posted anything substantial in reply to someone who *dis*agreed with you. Good luck with that, and "preaching to the choir"... Where I come from this is called a "circle jerk" and it's a waste of human life. But it's exactly where you deserve to be. Now go on, waste 1000 more hours stamping YOUR feet to people who listen to the exact same dumb radio shows you do, parroting the same exact misinformation you got from the same guys! Enjoy your sad life. At least *I* argue with people who DISagree with me, it takes a little more courage and skill.

Keep up the good fight, maybe let the caps lock down (cause they'll use that against you to divert any points you score) sometimes and good luck with these backward-a-s bumpkins who need to turn off their radio and step outside the trailer home and get some fresh air... realize Obama is NOT the antichrist, he was the choice of 54% of the population and almost has us out of the worst financial crisis in 80 years, no thanks to GWB and the Wall Street folks adored around these parts....

GavInTucson| 2.15.11 @ 10:13PM

Wow, THREE dissenters on this site of 500 posters!!!

You should get a medal for bravery. Preachin' to the choir... makes you a lousy 'minister'.

Steve A| 2.15.11 @ 1:54PM

Yes, Generally what happens is these type of dissenters make a lame effort at a criticism of conservatism, get their a** handed to them on this site & quit posting as they are unable to back up their attempt to justify Progressivism as it has failed in every historical attempt. (RCV is the only rational left leaning poster here in my opinion)

Take you for example. You have offered absolutely nothing to the conversation but a weak criticism of the volume of leftists here. This is not our problem. They just can't stand to have their views shredded in full display.

Yes| 2.15.11 @ 2:28PM

So you fancy yourself a debater and yet prowl a site where you yourself admit that your opponents have abandoned (due to ugliness, IMHO).

Good for you! Keep up your noble pursuit of debating non-existent opponents. A life well-spent, I'm sure! ;)

Steve A| 2.15.11 @ 2:32PM

You fail to recognize the fact that someone like you, with no depth, rolls in daily & then somehow vanishes, never to return, after getting spanked.

Yes| 2.15.11 @ 2:54PM

How would you know if I had no depth? Read some of my postings, I am highly educated, know the nations of the world quite well and could take you to school if I had the inclination. However, I already spent my allotted 100 hours trying to convince idiots Obama was born in Hawaii and my time is valuable. Beating dead horses on a site like this is a waste. I replied to some other posts of yours that might suggest that I could take you for a tough ride in a debate; I don't just parrot what Rush said about Reagan, I KNOW what he did; I have lived in the Middle East whereas most of these jokers haven't left West Virginia.

Don't presume because my posts here mostly just express my frustration and horror at the racist/ignorant comments here that if I were to turn my formidable mind against yours that you would come away having "handed my a** to me". Sometimes the winners in life just don't GIVE ENOUGH OF A SH-T to play with babies in the mud here with this ridiculous collection of characters.

I think that's my cue to go back to a site where "grownups debate". But I will say that you do appear more intelligent than many of the others here, so there you go. But making it all about "who handed whose butt to whom" just lowers who/what you COULD be, so try and wise up, and don't take someone's unwillingness to engage in stupid arguments with "birthers" as evidence of their intellectual inferiority, because one day, they may turn on you and pull off your diapers in public and not on some troll-page like this. Stick to the high road and you probably have some potential. Hasta la vista.

I don't know what Obama is, but look at his actions and make your own conclusions (see Dr.Right's post above). The Muslim Brotherhood declared war on the US in 1998. We did not. I would prefer there be no war. Look at Obama's actions, not what he says. At least the Muslim Brotherhood is honest, and we can't even get that out of Obama.

Aaron HIT THE POLITICAL BULLSEYE with his thesis/editorial here. Let me propose a scenario to you readers here: Suppose that there was a carismatic politician who was previously unknown but who was, through his word power, able to convince a large majority of citizens to vote for him. Suppose that his unknowns were possibly rooted in his being thoughout his lifetime programed by enemies of a country to become educated and placed in a position to run for the highest office in the land. Suppose that, after achieving election victory for same, he was thereafter able to use the political power of said office to facilitate the political overthrow of other countries and to facilitate the resultant takeover of same by his favored enemy comrades with similar philosophies as his own. SUPPOSE???????

Perhaps because the Eyptians did it themselves-and going from Hosni to the military is as much change as going from vanilla to French vanilla anyway. Iranians kinda tried, didn't succeed. And the regimes of foreign countries are the responsibilities of the people of those countries only, not America or its' citizens. The Obozo seems to have actually done something right, possibly by accident, by not getting involved in the crazed cameljockeys attempts at working it out themselves.

I don't know why you find the idea funny. History is rife with examples of dictator wannabes creating and fomenting phony crises to acquire power for themselves. Since you obviously know nothing of history, maybe you could watch some movies that tell the same story, Star Wars I-III, perhaps? Do you want historical examples? Julius Caesar and the Gallic Wars. How about King John of England giving the English Island to Pope Innocent III and having it enfiefed back to himself, just to stay in power? (This was after signing the Magna Carte under duress). Or perhaps William the Conquerer invading England... I could go on, but I doubt you get the idea.

Hi again Yes
(see above answer to you)

Yes, we have sorta' become a community of conversationalists here. We do enjoy folks like you dropping by. It helps us keep up on the current delusions of the communists, (pardon the shorthand).
Please try to be at least a little original....or just be consigned to the yawn/scroll button.

Yes| 2.15.11 @ 3:51PM

See above answer from me Mr. Fan-Fiction!

You can say what you like, but if you don't see that I have some originality, the fault lies in the eye of the beholder. If you think I'm more lame than the "Hussein this" types, then I can't help your life be any less yawn-filled.

"Communists"... Jesus... what year is this. Yes, Chavez is a d-ck, but how IRRELEVANT can you be? Are you a Hungarian immigrant? At least then you'd have some reason to even be talking about Communism.

You are a community of identically-minded (with like 3 exceptions) people engaged in a giant circle-jerk of group-think. It's basically the Rush Limbaugh Fan club chat room... enjoy! Not really that much for those that already broke away from amateur status... but don't worry, you may go Pro... someday!

VBMax| 2.15.11 @ 4:35PM

To Yes: I've been following the thread and I would like to compliment you on your passion and sometime wit. However, I'm a staunch conservative and my observation is that you are typical of the progressive that we have to endure here on a regular basis. There are many reasons why you folks don't resonate with the majority of posters.
1) Your arguments defy common sense: e.g. "Obama has saved us from a really bad economic scene". It is easily observed that everything he's done the last 2 years is totally opposite to what history tells us will create a recovery.
2) Your politics are dishonest: e.g.This last congress and the administration passed laws against the will of the people through the use of deceit, bribery etc.
3) You have fixed ideas that are untrue: e.g You call us racists which is very insulting. And you generally demean people of good will.
Axiom: Progressives accuse others of the very things they are themselves doing.
4) You don't believe in the Constitution and the rule of law: You may disavow that, but it's really, really obvious that you operate with "the end justifies the means" philosophy.
So, if you feel that you can't engage in a positive dialogue here, it's probably because we're fed up with the likes of you. I'm sure we've tried and all we got for our efforts were assaults on our reason and our goodwill.

Albert| 2.15.11 @ 9:57PM

MUSLIN = A type of fabric
MUSLIM = A person of the Islamic religion

So... which IS it? Is he Muslim or Christian? He can't be Muslim cause they always have to kneel down and pray 5x a day or else they AIN'T MUSLIM, and no one has ever ever seen him do that.

But since you said "Free and Fair Societies"... hell, YOU should be president!! I'll bet you run circles around that Hussein Obama ! (end sarcasm)

Actually, Yes
We often refine our thinking here. You know, "iron sharpening iron".
We actually have some pretty fascinating debates.
Most of us try to be honest however.

I have been using the little (pardon the shorthand) shortcut for some years now here.

I have written bestsellers digging into the "shorthand", but those go on peoples' shelf for reference.
These comments are comparatively short-lived.
Besides, your reality-shutters are up in any event.

Sorry, we just can't fix stupid here.

Yes| 2.15.11 @ 4:29PM

By "refine thinking" on this page you mean that when you hear posters calling Obama "Muslim" you call them out and correct them, right? And explain that Obama is a (Reverend Wright style?) *Christian* correct? Or do you let those slide, iron-sharpening-iron-bedamned?

Not sure what you mean by "shortcut"/"shorthand" unless you mean hitting CTRL-F on a PDF file to find the word "dithering" that *you* invented, of course you never heard Gen. McChrystal say that, right? Feel free to clarify your cryptic references to the "shorthand", not that I'm fascinated in the slightest.

Here's the awesomest part of your post:
"I have written bestsellers"...
If you mean Bestseller in the way that (non-imaginary) publishers use the term, then I have an offer for you... PROVE THAT YOU HAVE WRITTEN BOOKS THAT SOLD MORE THAN 5,000 COPIES and I have $100 of PayPal money to donate to your worthy cause! Sure, it's not much $ for a big "best-selling author" like you, but you deserve it!

Please provide the evidence to claim your cash reward. No, I'm not from Nigeria, trust me ;)

Oldefarte| 2.16.11 @ 1:55PM

Many of us here would gladly contribute to a fund-reward if you were able to prove that you had the ability to author/write anything beyond your signature/endorsement upon the back of a GOVERNMENTAL WELFARE CHECK!!!!!

Again, no offense intended to you; posting this I cannot recall a single post of yours that ever bothered me. Kudos sir.

Yes| 2.16.11 @ 9:57AM

Dude, I'm slightly over 40 and went to an Ivy-League school then went on to grad school, lived overseas multiple times... Say what you want, but I think I'm both smarter and have more relevant experience (to talk about the article above) than you.

True. Deal with it. Make up lies about me, who cares. Says more about you than me. If you want I'll go toe to toe re: credentials/age, maybe even quality of life, hotness of wife, broadness of friend-base, whatever. You won't win, so just go ahead and keep imagining your dumb fantasy version of myself as pimpled kid in front of computer, but you'd simply be wrong. Oh well. Now shall we talk about YOUR personal lives?

Were you offered a scholarship to attend MIT?
Have you lived in one the 2 or 3 poorest, lowest quality of life countries, on the planet?
Have you run the operations for more than a handful of companies?
Say what you want, but I think an individual making so many false assumptions has neither an acceptable amount of intelligence nor an adequate quantity of relevant experience to be considered an authority on much of anything.
Highly educated my ass.

If you want to go toe to toe I'll consider it but you have not proven you can contribute anything substantial as of yet. On the following topics I will cause you to lose sleep if you have a shred of conscience, or an iota of concern for our nation.
Topics such as:
Facts we know about Obama and Christianity and Islam.
The function and intent of the Constitution.
Consequencess of the presidencies of Reagan and the Bushes versus the presidencies of Carter, Clinton, and Obama.
Capitalism and free markets versus government controlled economic activity.
Obama's staggering incompetence on topics covered in any Basic Econ 101 class.
The authority and validity of information produced by the media.
The effects of humanity on the natural environment.

I did not make up the fact your vocabulary and grammar more closely resembles an immature post-adolescent. You volunteered you were "approx. 40". You voluntarily typed the words into the internet "play with babies" in this day and age. As long as the internet and computers exist anyone will be able to verify this with a relatively simple search.

In order to qualify for any toe to toe discussions, how about you opine on Obama's budget proposal revealed on Monday? The budget proposal in which the deficit will acumulate and add to the debt at a rate of over fifty thousand dollars a second for the entire year?

Asinine assumptions such as a flat out declaration I won't beat you in any debate reveal you are likely incapable of proving you have the intelligence or honesty to go toe to toe with me without risking damaging your narcissist image of yourself and exposing yourself as a monumental hypocrite.

According to my dictionary, the definition of hypocritical is: one who pretends to have virtue, feeling, etc he or she does not have. Sounds to me that this accurately describes the current president and Democrats in general, does it not???????

VBMax| 2.15.11 @ 4:41PM

FTM| 2.15.11 @ 5:14PM

Q) Why does this administration support a regieme change in one country and not another?

A) The administration is a little boy that is lost in the woods.

These people couldn't find their own butts with both hands.

What you're seeing here in the Peter Principle in full bloom. You saw it in the Bush Administration also, and Clinton and the other Bush and so on. The people that are the most qualified to act on behalf of the American people know that the job is the most demanding in the world and therefore spend their time in more rewarding persuits. Managing a company like GM or GE and so forth. President Obama has never in his life so much as managewd a cool-aid stand and it shows.

Yes| 2.15.11 @ 5:25PM

@VBMax,

Hm, at first I thought "Oh, finally someone willing to reason (besides the other fairly reasonable Steve A)!" but then I actually *read* what you wrote, which must be based on your Mental Version of Me and not ME, the barely Left of Center Moderate Centrist.

A bit rushed but let me do a quick point-by-point reply:

See your points above, one by one:
1) Your arguments defy common sense: e.g. "Obama has saved us from a really bad economic scene" -- OK this is your ONE correct observation and I will openly admit that I don't think Obama's handling of economy was perfect, neither do I think McCain's approach would've worked better. Score yourself 1/2 point, but it ends there.

2) I didn't even MENTION the Will of the People nor Congress, so you are just making stuff up or imagining my views in your head. You must have a whole symphony going on in there... show me my quote that references that stuff in the slightest way and I'll bake you a pie.

3) You have fixed ideas that are untrue: e.g You call us racists which is very insulting.
Here are some quotes from this page, some of which aren't pure 'racist' but implying he is Muslim perhaps because of his race/parentage?

"It occurred to me, the one good thing about B.O. ( he stinks)... but MLK had a dream too & look where it got him" :( -- SpiralArchitect

"we will not have a nation, just Muhammed & Obamma-lhamma-dingdong ( Allahs newest prophet)." -- Spiral

"I always here as to O'Bummer as 1/2 black, why don't they ever talk about the other half."

"Hussein is the Neville Chamberlain of our time."

"Obozo and Ahmadinejad are brothers in the fight for the acendency of militant Islam over America"

"He likes it...Because he's a Muslim."

4) You don't believe in the Constitution and the rule of law:
Where the HELL do you get THAT? No where, that's where! I think the Constitution is maybe the greatest living document on earth; you just PRESUME cause I disagree with you that I don't "believe in it"! That's just weird, sorry.

In conclusion, most of your attacks on me are I guess based on your thinking I am typical of some sort of Extreme Liberal (I'm not, I'm moderate).

You can't just make sh-t up like that. I hope you are happy I took the time to address your points one by one.

VBMax| 2.15.11 @ 7:47PM

My points referred to progressives in general, in which you appear to be one and I stand by those.
If I misjudged you, I apologize. If I didn't, I take my apology back.

GavInTucson| 2.15.11 @ 10:44PM

You wrote, "I think the Constitution is maybe the greatest living document on earth..."

The living document nonsense is where you nailed yourself. It isn't a living document. It's a contract, a legal binding compact, only subject to change through the amendment process, and not subject to the politically expedient legislation or "interpretations" of the moment.

Love for the Constitution, my ass.

Yes| 2.16.11 @ 10:01AM

Hey before you pluck the speck from my eye, look up what a "living document" is... it means it's in current USE and that it changes/has life over time through Amendments and is interpreted by various institutions and put into practice.

Re-read what you wrote, it's either a lie (it IS "living") or you're just slightly confused... I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and time to google it, then come back to me with your apology if you feel up to it.

Yes| 2.16.11 @ 11:26AM

Oh btw here's one link among the THOUSANDS that attest to the OBVIOUS FACT that the Consitution is a "living document".
http://library.thinkquest.org/.....iving.html

How does it feel to be made a fool? Cause that's what you just did, you grabbed a megaphone and challenged me on an obvious junior-high-school fact and were wrong, blaring that to the world. The internet is forever too, so if you continue using this handle/nickname, look forward to googling your name + The Constitution and seeing your dumbass comment into perpetuity. In the year 2050 google will STILL probably be returning your dumbass comment as a result.

Congratulations.

Doctor Right| 2.16.11 @ 2:32PM

A "living document"?

Now we KNOW you're a teenage dip-stick.

Doctor Right| 2.16.11 @ 2:35PM

How does it feel to be made a fool?

You tell us, little boy!

Hate to break the news to you, but one (1) internet link does not undo 230+ years of legal scholarship, especially when it's three (3) unreferenced, unsupported paragraphs!!!

BWAH-HAH-HAH-HAH!!!!!! What a joke!

...Oh, I'm sorry...Didn't they teach you about the importance of citing sources at the Ivy league???

Oldefarte| 2.16.11 @ 2:11PM

[OK this is your ONE correct observation and I will openly admit that I don't think Obama's handling of economy was perfect, neither do I think McCain's approach would've worked better]..........Geez, we all know what Obama's HANDLING translated into, but we don't know what McCain's decisions/administrated policies would have been [since he was defeated], now do we? Wow, what a brilliant DUMBARS!!!!

Lee| 2.15.11 @ 5:44PM

McCain was the Manchurian Candidate and Obama the result. We are being governed by an anti American Kenyan Muslim.

Yes| 2.15.11 @ 6:04PM

O...... K....... there buster! Whatever you say!

Ken (Old Texican)| 2.15.11 @ 6:01PM

NO, Yes,
the little trick is used to find a key word within a particular manuscript, not out in the world.

You know it is ironic. Heh. I'm actually sitting here wasting electrons...sorta'.
You will never hear me, but thousands of commenters here have come to appreciate my thoughts on a lot of subjects...many of them merely lurkers that never or rarely post.

I suppose I'm really writing here for them.

I MUST remain anonymous here, and in the #1 bestseller I have written. Thousands of children's futures depend upon it. My newest book will probably get me blown to smithereens by some Muslim idiot.
I can only hope he does not show up at one of my 36 pediatric clinics across the country.

So far, Mr. Regnery and staff have kept my e-mail confidential. (Thank you gentlemen)

I had a chance to visit with Mr. Regnery the other day. We discovered that we have a lot of mutual friends. Cool guy. (Oh, he is the publisher here in case you didn't know).

I congratulated him one more time for a totally open forum here.
You can write just about any thing you want unless it is grossly ..gross.....or beyond the pale of adult conversation.

So yes, I have some five million books moldering on someone's shelf ...or toilet backs and coffee tables. heh.
(One of the best compliments I ever received was from a man who wrote to tell me he had read one of my books cover to cover three times, but now just keeps it as his daily "john" book. ) heh, cracked me up.
Bud,
get real or get dead. Your "world" is collapsing.
God bless

Yes| 2.15.11 @ 6:06PM

I CALL TOTAL F-ING BULLSH-T.

I'm sorry, that post itself was a work of mediocre fiction. Too busy to care, signing off... Just like a guy with "36 pediatric clinics across the country" would be too busy to engage me here.

Sad/Loser/Pathological Liar = you? Perhaps?

Oh well, it's been fun. Sayonara.

Ken (Old Texican)| 2.15.11 @ 6:11PM

Awww, come on back just any old time. Send your invoice to Soros, now, ya' hear?:

Yes| 2.16.11 @ 10:03AM

Don't you guys ever get tired of talking about Soros?

Hey this is fun let me try! "Send your invoice to the Koch brothers!"

Gee, that *IS* SO satisfying to play Pretend like that!

Oldefarte| 2.16.11 @ 2:16PM

In case you're interested, DIPSTICK, the NYT, CBS, WaPo, etc all have blogging networks available to you and yours!!!!!!!

Yes| 2.15.11 @ 6:55PM

I want attention and demand to be relevant, I'm important and smart too.

Yes| 2.16.11 @ 10:04AM

Nice try... when all else fails hijack the username and try to ruin the "institutions" of reliable nicknames...

FALSE FLAG!!! FALSE FLAG!!!! That's what you guys love to say, isn't it? ;)

-- the "real" YES

THe Big T Machine| 2.15.11 @ 9:42PM

Yes, I nominate you for Iron Troll. What a waste of manic energy, you could be doing something very important like stomping out chewing tobacco in major league baseball, or lobbying for medium speed rail funding for the Chicago to Rock Island line or making billions aggressively shorting Western currencies. Instead you tilt with a bunch of race obsessed doucheoisie and their window monkeys for six hours. God Bless.

GavInTucson| 2.15.11 @ 10:50PM

The "doucheoisie" remark was priceless. Best thing I read all day.

I nominate it the best new word of the month (right after I wipe the soda from my screen).

Yes| 2.16.11 @ 10:12AM

Actually T-Machine, believe it or not I found your comment one of the smartest on here! You are actually really correct on most of your points!
It so happened I had a big lull yesterday waiting on something work-wise, saw this page dominated by one point of view and a certain number of racists, so I decided to spend some manic energy (you nailed it) doing what I rarely do, which is get down in the mud arguing with people with what I consider radical, ugly views in a venue where you all weren't getting any posters with counter-arguments, arguments that it seems clear to me, people should HEAR (at least for one day).

It's not something I do often, and certainly DO have better things to do.

You wrote: "Instead you tilt with a bunch of race obsessed doucheoisie and their window monkeys for six hours."

Thank you so much for that obseration... and thanks for sneaking in that clever jab at many of the posters here (the doucheoisie and monkeys) with whom I joust/'tilt'.... Funniest part is that the average IQ here is so low they thought you were calling ME those names instead of THEM (unless I 'tilt' with myself?... not possible)!! For that I salute you and perhaps I'll see you all again some time. A bit more of a challenge would be great, so I'll keep an eye out for you, Mr. T! Take it easy.

Nite| 2.15.11 @ 10:36PM

It is obvious that Obama favors the Muslims over Israel and any other country. He also has shown contempt for Christians. His actions have caused a lot of concern for me.

prestonsbrooks| 2.16.11 @ 11:34AM

Since Barry is likely a secret agent of the Iranians, it is unlikely he would suppport revolt in Iran. He would, however, help engineer an islamic takeover of Arab countries that would be dominated by Iran, hence his support of the MB. He may also have control of all the terrorists currently hiding in the US, and is waiting for the right time to order them to attack.
