Governor Sarah Palin just hit a home run with her
cogent
op-ed in the Wall Street Journal
endorsing Congressman Paul Ryan’s (R-WI) Roadmap for America’s
Future, a tax-cutting, budget-balancing, entitlement-reforming
proposal which House Republicans still
refrain from embracing wholeheartedly.
In putting her political capital behind the Ryan plan, she
may be giving a needed spine transplant to the Republican Party and
saving it in spite of itself.
Governor Palin nicely highlights the relative merits of
the Ryan plan over the recent recommendations of the president’s
Nation Commission on Fiscal Responsibility which, while certainly
calling for some necessary and painful cost-cutting proposals,
“makes only a limited effort to cut spending below the current
trend set by the Obama administration.”
Lest we forget, the National Commission is also
proposing an additional trillion dollars of
new taxes, something that is antithetical to everything the voters
told us in the recent election and anathema to most
Republicans.
So, if Republicans don’t want to raise taxes, they
presumably want to cut discretionary spending and, even more
importantly, reform runaway entitlement spending which is about
ready to deluge the nation in red ink with the aging and retirement
of the Baby Boomer generation now underway. Why then are the House
and Senate Republicans seemingly without any comprehensive,
programmatic alternatives to the presidential Commission’s
recommendations? After all, it takes a horse to beat a
horse.
What is the GOP’s Big Idea? I am all for cutting earmarks,
but they are drops in the big bucket of federal spending. I am all
for reducing marginal and corporate tax rates; but this game of
chicken in which Republicans join Democrats in spending on new
entitlements, two wars, increased discretionary spending, and
bailouts, well, for everyone, is going to turn out badly for
limited government and taxpayers absent a major overhaul of the way
the federal government does business. Something, as they say, has
gotta give, as the Greeks and Irish are finding out.
Which brings us back to Paul Ryan’s Roadmap.
No sitting Republican in the House or Senate, no GOP governor, and
no policy wonk in any conservative think tank has produced anything
as comprehensive as Ryan’s magnum opus which deals with
health care, taxes, entitlements, and economic growth all in one
audacious proposal.
This last point, i.e., the need to energize economic
growth, not simply stop the economic bleeding and outrageous
spending, was not lost on the former Alaskan governor. Ryan’s
proposal “does more than just fend off disaster,” says Palin. “CBO
[Congressional Budget Office] calculations show that the Roadmap
would also help create a ‘much more favorable macroeconomic
outlook’ for the next half-century.”
“The CBO estimates that under the Roadmap, by 2058
per-person GDP would be around 70% higher than the current trend,”
says Governor Palin. This is so because the plan replaces the
U.S.’s high and anticompetitive corporate income tax, maybe the
highest in the developed world, with a business consumption tax of
just 8.5%.
“The overall tax burden would be limited to 19% of GDP
(compared to 21% under the deficit commission’s proposals),” notes
Palin.
Notwithstanding the Roadmap’s comprehensive approach to
cutting the Gordian Knot of high spending, spiraling health care,
entitlement costs and an inefficient tax structure, only a dozen or
so Republicans have signed up to co-sponsor Ryan’s legislative
package. The party of Lincoln has gone AWOL on the only credible
proposal for fiscal reform consistent with Republican
principles.
The GOP’s no-show on the Ryan plan would be understandable
if there were several other viable alternatives floating around out
there in the political ether. There are none.
At some point, the Republican congressional leadership is
going to have to… well… lead. In this case, leadership begins by
educating the American people to the dimensions of the crisis they
face, something Governor Palin actually gives the President’s
commission credit for doing; but it cannot stop there. It is well
past time for them to embrace a concrete proposal that takes on the
tough issues, head-on, and prepare the electorate for the momentous
issues that must be faced now and in 2012.
The only game in town is Paul Ryan’s Roadmap around which
Governor Palin is rallying the troops, be they independents, Tea
Partiers or GOP mainstreamers. This may be her greatest
contribution to the Republican Party and the nation in its time of
need.

Reason why repubs are not where near Ryan's plan is that their leadership is the same old wineskins that were behind the bushes...we have new wine now in congress and it'll spoil unless new wineskins are put in place...now they're worried about next election and appealing to 'moderates'...hoghwash...do the job people want u to do...but the new repubs in dc need to get new leaders and let the old ones just sit and rock...they're no good

Thanks for this, Mr. McCain. What was it Carville said about Hillary v. Obama? If she gave him one of her "cajones" she'd still have more? Well, the same (and much more) can be said about Sarah Palin v. the Republican "macho" men. Man-up, guys, and if it takes a gal to do it, well, so bet it. Go, Sarah!

G. Tracy,
A fascinating article over at American Thinker today.
The only quibble I have with the article is the title.
Sarah is anything but "normal". She is in fact extraordinary, in a whole lotta' good ways.

Ken,
Really insightful AThinker piece on Sarah. I confess to swerving back and forth on our conservative darling doll and Stuart Swartz has his hand squarely on why I love her - that quintessential patriotic REAL American. And here goes the "but", will this country elect her? I despise all ruling class pols and Rhinos most - and she is a country class conservative, but can she take the kind of headwinds the media has yet to unleash? Just sayin...
Ken (Old Texican)| 12.13.10 @ 7:04PM

Thanks. Let's hope that Congressman Paul Ryan of Wisconsin stays the course and -- let us hope -- stays AWAY from 'stardom.' Hopefully he can be Plugger that makes the 'limelight' GOP cats look like the stooges they are.
Stay humble, Mr. Ryan.
As for soon-t0-be Speaker John Boehnor pounding his chest last week with self approval over 5% staff/costs reductions....well Gooolllllllyyy!
Now, that is going to really make a difference Mister Speaker. (big guffaw)
How about 35% for 2011 followed by a resolute 10% every year for the next decade.
And only 50% FOR ALL CONGRESSJERKS' salary/pay until we have an annual balanced budget. (not a dime more until it is permanently fixed)
Freshmen House Congresspersons earn approx: $180,000 (base salary) in their first year.
Then I might think our new Speaker one worthy of some props. Not until.
We need some positively radical behavior/deeds in Washington, D.C. otherwise the REVOLT will proceed.
Jack Bauer| 12.13.10 @ 8:00AM
While Sarah Palin is not Maggie Thatcher's intellectual equal (but then few politicians are, including Rodham) , she certainly has many of the winning personal attributes of the Iron Lady (Rodham has none that I have ever noted).
Including the ability to lead when all her male colleagues take one step backwards.
Bob Grant| 12.13.10 @ 9:16AM
How can a private citizen "lead" on anything?
I suppose by extension I'm a "leader" because of my freely dispensed opinions provided each day.
Tex Expatriate| 12.13.10 @ 1:18PM
How can a private citizen lead? Look at the evidence. Everywhere Mrs. Palin goes she draws a huge crowd of genuine Americans. Her remarks and very presence shape the conservative debate even though she holds no elective office.
jstwndring| 12.13.10 @ 4:33PM
You have, like me, zero influence on the nation as a whole, so, no, you are not a leader. At least, not of any political consequence.
If, on the other hand, you believe you are, by all means, go and try to book an event somewhere where you offer your opinions and see how many people show up to take in your wisdom. Then compare your results to the results Sarah gets.
Sarah is a leader not because she declares herself one, but, because people agree with her and follow--freely.
Bob Grant| 12.13.10 @ 10:27PM
They always follow "freely". Some people "freely" follow their leaders to tiny countries in South America.
I'm afraid you're setting yourselves up for a major letdown.

Anthony| 12.13.10 @ 9:47AM
Jack, Sister Sarah may not have Maggie Thacher's intellect, although, I'm not ready to concede the point, nonetheless, she sure as hell has great political instincts and the ability to connect. Her moral and political clarity scare the hell out of the ruling class.
Sh is so right, on so many levels, no wonder the political class, both Ds and Rs, hate her. She has Reagan's ability to distill the complex to its most basic understanding, a scarey thing for obfuscating elites!!!
Funny, there's another TAS article today about a lefty Columbia prof who has been having consensual sex with his adult daughter. While blogging on the Huffington Post, the Obozo worshipper called Sarah," self centered and weak".
I bet sister Sarah would have a unique way of dealing with Professor Esptein of Columbia U. and his "weakness" for incest.
Jack Bauer| 12.13.10 @ 1:03PM
Anthony -- that wasn't meant as a slam of Sarah. Few can match Margaret Hilda Thatcher. Especially Lady McClintoon.
Born to a grocer father in a tiny English village with no money or influence. Oxford Science graduate in 1944
Career as a scientist. Married with two children. Trains as a lawyer while still a working mother.
ALL BEFORE 1950!!
Runs for parliament. Wins at a time when most MPs are men - certainly conservatives in the UK.
Enters the cabinet as member of government in 1972. Runs against the Brit equivalent of a RINO -- the corpratist statist Ted Heath to become first female leader of Conservative party.
Become first British female Prime Minister in 1979 -- beating socialist into a pulp. Wins three elections and one war.
A truly remarkable woman who earned everything on merit. Like Sarah Palin -- unlike Lady McClintoon.
And you know what. The left despised and mocked her. So it does not really matter what a conservative's achievements are to leftists. They always generate hate. Roll on Sarah!
Pelligrino| 12.13.10 @ 5:55PM
Yes, indeed. Thank you, Mr. Bauer. PM Margret Thatcher brought the UK back from the brink in the early 1980's. She delayed the "fall" that her 10 Downing Street successors cannot seem to thwart.
If you have come across a particularly solid biography of her life, please post that book title here. Might make a very good reading suggestion for many.
Or superb Christmas gift idea. I confess that I must again reacquaint myself with the details of her life, the challenges she encountered, and those very wobbly times in the UK and the rest of Europe.
Even Germany's Angela Merkel can thank Lady Thatcher. The Germans, ever cautious and unsure in political matters, could look to the solid leadership of Lady Thatcher as PM and say, "Well, now, yes. Europe has had a very competent woman at the helm. That is not a preposterous idea."
This is not comparing the two; it is asserting the notion that Germans could warm to the idea of a woman chancellor because Lady Thatcher set a shining example.
In present-day America we do not have this problem.
All praise to this very fine lady. Her tenure at the top helped save a nation.
Amanda| 12.14.10 @ 8:15AM

She could be a potential MENSA member but she tends to flaunt her ignorance on certain matters.
No worries, however, as she is now on a fact finding mission visiting Haiti, England, and Israel. I find it interesting she decides to do this AFTER her money-making endeavors are winding down. Her priorities seem to be to financially milk her media opportunities bone dry before becoming a serious presidential candidate.
No worries because Sarah has this master plan that in time we, the great unwashed, will discover the genius behind it.
It will be interesting to watch Sarah - the now serious presidential candidate - learn stuff most of us on this blog have long since discovered.
No worries because it takes time for our female version of Ronald Reagan to fully blossom. We simpletons need to sit down, shut up, and fully appreciate what we are witnessing.
Bob Grant| 12.13.10 @ 9:03AM

Careful Bob, you make it sound as if only those members of the existing ruling class, currently holding elected office, have the right to opine, because they have "skin in the game".

Hey Sarah, how about spending a little time with Art Laffer, Jim Baker, John Boener, Mitch McConnell, Thomas Sowell, corporate CEO's (pick one), or any former Fed Chief, military or foreign policy expert? .........Na too conventional.
Why do that when what the country really want's to know is will Kate get back together with John, Dick, Fred, Clyde or whatever her freak ex hubby's name is.

FYI, I believe Ronald Reagan was a superb President.
Sarah Palin is no RR. She not only displays an appalling lack of knowledge about world affairs, but she has no apparent desire or interest in becoming knowledgeable. She quit her job as Governor the minute it became too hot in the kitchen, to use a metaphor from a real President, Harry Truman. She utterly unqualified to do anything other than pure demagoguery, which she is very, very good at.

Yes, Sarah dealt with her serious ethical problems by running away and quitting her job. That shows the fortitude required for the toughest job in the world! If she thinks her problems can be avoided that way, she's got a big surprise waiting for her. The media will run down every one of those ethics charges she ran away from, including the misuse of state funds for her personal benefit. Sarah, in short, is an ethically-challenged money chaser.
Ronald Reagan was her opposite. A man of impeccable integrity, whose first concern was always his country, not his own pocket, or power, or the glare of a camera. He was self-deprecating, not a publicity hound like Ms Palin. (Can you even imagine him dragging around his baby for publicity shots and then passing him off to an aide, like a prop?). As our Governor in California, he never ran from a fight, and if his integrity were challenged, he wouldn't have abandoned his job and the people who elected him to avoid facing the music.
Even the people of Alaska have come to see her for what she is. She couldn't even sell that pathetic male Palin-clone to her own state, and was beaten by someone not even on the ballot. Her efforts on behalf of Angle and O'Donnell, her two other chosen clones, fell equally flat.
Reagan was above all a conservative thinker and intellectual. To even put Palin's name in the same sentence is an insult to his memory.
Go ahead, please, work hard for her nomination. There's no better gift you could give the Democratic Party.

I love the fact that it bothers you so much that she has so much influence even out of office. She can't be fired. Kind of like Rush. Ha!

Bob, you know I agree with you about Sarah running for POTUS. But, that said, give the woman her props. She is forcing the issue of cutting entitlements to the forefront in a way no one else seems to have the guts to do. Yes, she's a private citizen, but if she runs, this will be tossed into the ring (as praise or condemnation, depending on your side) and I say good for her to stand up and say what you believe in. She and Paul Ryan are both a refreshing change from the status quo in that regard.

Mrs Palin's name keeps popping up. You can't stop her. In the American Thinker nor here. She many very well be the Republican nomination in 2012, or a Goldwater from 1964. The Republican status quo must be nervous, and why not? At least she's out front leading the charge, something I don't perceived Boehnor as doing. He cries too much.
jstwndring| 12.13.10 @ 4:58PM
I just love how easily she gets under the skin of democrats in general. Every word she utters makes them nervous. I don't even know if I want her running at this point. She does a masterful job of challenging the establishment of both sides from where she is right now. She is a tremendous motivator. She is the unofficial face of the Tea Party movement. In other words, for those of us who distrust the government in general, she is our voice. She consistently endorses ideas that seem to be in the best interest of the country, bringing attention to them. She's not perfect, but neither is anyone else. And I would further point out that any of her shortcommings are far less troublesome than those of the professional ruling class. She's trustworthy, or, at least has been up to this point.
A Holzer| 12.13.10 @ 9:45AM
Embracing Ryan's plan now, before the GOP has any real power to enact laws, is viewed as political suicide by many republicans. The media and the left will spin the plan as the end of Medicare and Social Security as we know it. These entitlements are in the red to the tune of 100 trillion dollars over the next generation, but are still considered sacred by many uniformed Americans. They need to be fixed. But never underestimate the media's ability to distort facts and influence public opinion. The GOP is "playing it safe" for the time being, and it may be the safe play. They will never get things done unless they get the Senate and Presidency first.
Armchair General | 12.13.10 @ 12:45PM
Undoubetedly the Republican "leadership" is calculting the response of the mendacious media. This is a measure of the degree to which they are unconnected to the vast majority of real American. The fact is that most of us in that real America don't give a tinker's dam about the opinions of the NYT, LAT, MSNBC, etc.,etc.,etc. We look to Drudge, Breitbart, Hot Air, Michelle Malking, Red State, The Blaze, etc., etc., etc. where lies the best chance to really learn what's going on and what's really important.

Oldefarte| 12.13.10 @ 11:57AM
Ryan's plan is a good starting point, but the lack of guts from congressmen when asked by reporters for examples of possible cuts is amazing. My suggestions [and don't tell me this excrement about these being protected and can't therefore be cut] are foreign aid, farm aid, welfare, education transferred to states, space program, NPR, unnecessary military hardware, wtc. The excrement of politicians scaring taxpayer-voters with suggestions of cut to Medicare and Social Security is ludicrous and extremely stupid. The only problem with Medicare is that, like all medical care and the health insurance that pays for same, IT'S TOO DAMN EXPENSIVE [and could be remedied by cost cutting generally of eliminating medical malpractice lawsuits that enrich attornies, allowing purchasing of medical insurance across state lines, total computerization of the medical profession, etc]. Social Security could be remedied by forcing the government to repay the $trillion that it has stolen from the SS trust fund to pay for their welfare schemes for the last decade; and by removing the income limit for payment deductions [all income would be subject to payment of SS/Medicare on a graduated basis]. If some wealthy individuals wished to opt out of SS/Medicare, they should be allowed to do so after legally waiving their rights in writing to futuristically claim benefits from same. If/when these spinless politicians start talking about the above, etc methods of substantially cutting government's expendatures, the exorbetant budget defecit/debt will be substantially reduced, consumers and business will thus be motivated to spend and grow their businesses and the economy will be repaired. It spinless and ludicrous that they continue to harp upon only tax policy and procedures [and not detailed spending cuts] as an economic solution!!!!!!!!!!!

I suspect the size of the national government could be cut in half, or even trimmed by two-thirds, by closing all the unconstitutional departments and agencies that constitute today's government. Of course, that could not be done until the Supreme Court consisted of originalist justices.

So much for Ryan's "Roadmap For America's Future". While not perfect, it is the best idea out there right now, but doesn't go far enough as others have already said here. I admire Sarah Palin & if she runs for President in 2012 she has my vote, but her endorsement of Ryan's plan will energize the spineless weasels in "the ruling class" & "leadership" of The GOP to ignore the plan just because she is for it. Not her fault & I laud her for standing behind Ryan's ideas. Unfair as it may be her association with Paul Ryan's plan will keep it from moving forward. The "ruling class" & "leadership" of The GOP would much rather keep Palin in her place than forward Paul Ryan's plan with her endorsement attached to it. Also, The GOP "leadership" & "ruling class" are a bunch of snakes which are invertebrates. Invertebrates inherently have no spine. The GOP "leadership" & "ruling class" are the definition of inverebrate.
Tim the Enchanter| 12.13.10 @ 5:31PM
Sorry- snakes are reptiles, which are indeed vertebrates. The animal you are probably looking for is the worm- and ALL flavors of worm ARE invertebrates. Probably a more fitting analogy, though.
idalily| 12.13.10 @ 6:05PM
Gotta disagree with you here. Sarah is forcing the Road Map into the conversation. The GOP will not be able to ignore it for long. If nothing else, fiscal collapse will force it out there, and way sooner than most people realize. SS and Medicare are unsustainable. Period. The Road Map provides a starting point, and we've got to start somewhere.
Expel "The Ruling Class"!| 12.13.10 @ 6:16PM
I hope you're right Idalily, but I never underestimate the ability of "ruling class" & "leadership" of The Stupid Party to pull defeat from the jaws of victory. The "ruling class" & "leadership" of The Stupid Party fear Palin more so than the left & Democrats do.

All the talk in the liberal media is that in his State of the Union Address Obama is going to address the long term need to fix the debt and entitlement situation. I doubt there will be any program, just a reference to the Debt Commission and the work to be done. Sarah is very savvy. Knowing that this will be the big issue in the next election (along with America's Decline) she is already putting in place the beginning of a plan that will certainly differ with anything the Democrats come up with. She is, in effect, laying down the guantlet and shaping the discussion before any other Repbublican (Romney, Huckabee etc.) have had a chance to think about the issue. Now where do they go? If they drift to Ryan they will simply be Palin followers. If they don't watch out they could end up being Obama followers. Now the ball is their court. She is a very savvy poker player. I would never count her out. Maybe she is not polished but she has great political instincts and she is learning on the fly.

Mrs. Sarah Palin is also - amongst many other things -- quite interesting as a person and to the American public because of ...what was it I heard: "4 generations all living under the same roof." (I believe I heard that correctly.)
Sarah and Todd have not only their children but also now Bristol's baby. And her parents, I believe.
Folks, this is what so many crave. Family connections right there. Sure, no one is so silly as to think that it is 90% harmony ALL THE TIME. What home is? But it is fascinating and piques the interest.
Doesn't it? She seems to truly love her father and treasure his comments, jokes, advice, and wisdom. She praises her husband at every opportunity and Todd seems to indeed measure up. She dotes on her kids. (I think a lot of credit goes to Todd.)
(Contrast this with our current president. What family members does he have in his life? He is living the liberal’s dream; he is living the consequences of a liberal’s life. He is alone.)
My only question: Where does Sarah find all this time to do all these things? I guess that is where the exceptionalism comes through.
America is falling apart from within. Look at the broken families all around you. Look at the men who happily date well into their late 40's now because it leaves them footloose and fancy free, no responsibilities. (and maybe they'll never have to deal with the issue of having children of their own?) Yes, all this matters. The number one thing that every kid in America HAS to know: That mommy loves daddy. And that daddy loves mommy. If that is rock solid, your kid is already 80% ahead of all his or her peers.
Look at the political men/top businessmen who just use their families as props as in a stage production -- something to project that they think the audience wants to see.
Is there honest-to-goodness love there? Or is it just a charade?
And then you see the Palin family.
(I pray for them; I pray that is is real and not a made-for-TV creation. But it does seem real, does it not?)
Is there another political family out there like this?
We usually see a politician where the politics/work/media interaction/press releases etc. come FIRST and family is something that, well, is useful when it comes time for the campaign literature or the 2,500 greeting card list at Christmas.
No, having a family all 'round you does not you the ideal political leader make. Not at all. But it can help. Because you have to figure out everyday family kitchen table decisions. Sometimes really BIG decisions.
You stay connected to the "little people" of this world because your own "little people" in your household (your kids) are out there mixing it up daily. Particularly when those kids are being raised outside Boston, NYC, LA, San Francisco, or Washington, D.C.
The family connectedness of Sarah Palin's life is something that -- sadly -- too many Americans, I believe, find themselves attracted to. Why? It is something they do not have.

...and, the fall of the Berlin Wall and the collapse of the evil Soviet Empire was one of the most thrilling moments in my life. My wife and I flew to Berlin in 1989 to hear Leonard Bernstein conduct the Berlin Philharmonic in Ode to Joy to celebrate with East and West Berliners that great event. Along with the thrill of watching Romanians cut the hammer and sickle out of their flag on the fall of their communist masters, and that moment before the slaughter when those brave Chinese students in Tienamen raised their "Godess of Liberty" in homage to our Statue, it was one of the most moving moments of my life.

Pelligrino| 12.13.10 @ 11:33PM
Margie, thank you for your nice comment (above). I hope that everyone here really considers what I stumbled upon in my own thinking several hours ago.
A serious consequence of long term wrong-thinking is no family ties. No siblings. (like in China where this has been law or in W. Europe/E. Europe and now some parts of South America where it is now 'custom,' i.e. the parents/living together adults don't procreate)
One then goes through the decades of life with no one who accompanies you -- essentially from start to finish -- on the WHOLE journey. You journey alone – as our current president does.
(This is not Mr. Obama’s fault. It is the fault of the behaviors of his parents. He gets the consequences.)
For him or anyone else, no siblings means: No one ever calling you “Uncle,” fewer cousins, no brothers or sisters-in-law. And that’s just siblings. When you deprive a person of REAL relationships with a parent or both, well, then there may also now be no grandparents around to try to fix the messes the real mom or dad or both have made.
Not good. For anyone.
A serious problem is not having anywhere to go -- to be with family -- at Thanksgiving or Christmas and New Year's. It really is. For A LOT of people.
Either not going somewhere to be with family or not hosting.
Why? You want to avoid all the extreme troubles. The real reason for so many today is there was never a relationship in the first place.
Across our land: All the kids now fully grown that never had a father. We all know that this is rampant. This has existed at perilous frequency over 40 years.
Get that: Adult people, all grown up and middle aged -- now in all the places of management, leadership, responsibility -- with no relationships that keep them grounded.
A best friend in life or couple of best friends can certainly help or augment, no question. But they ain't kin. They aren't your blood relatives who still love you and put up with you despite all you've done. (Relatives, you see, they're often the ONLY ones who'll tell it to you straight.)
With whom do you confide (and been able to confide) in these adult years of your life – spanning decades? It rarely is a good friend, neighbor, or work colleague from 2, 3 or 4 decades ago. Life paths have long since drawn you apart.
Note the countries present and past where dark liberalism triumphs: Doesn't the prevailing trend show small or smaller and smaller families? Lots of singles. Certainly divorces everywhere, so easy to obtain.
The Palins are celebrating family and good friends; they look like they are having a ball doing it.
They are the contrast to modern day thinking: Thinking that tells us marriage is so "old school" as to not just be passé, but also to be completely foolhardy/unnecessary.
Even if she never runs again (just, say, helps candidates and causes as with this year) and post-2012 Mrs. Palin decides to slow the pace and just enjoy more time with Todd, her kids, raising the youngest, time with her parents, occasional TV appearances, etc. even if that is what transpires, Sarah will have helped millions of Americans.
(Maybe a lot of Canadians, too? Methinks yes.)
She already has. No other prospective candidate of either party for 2012 or party leaders can say the same.
I wish the Palins well. I wish them strong personal faith and will pray for this. No matter what, the months ahead will be grueling. They do not just contend with the RINOs, a gross media, and hysterical Democrats, they, I firmly believe, contend with Satan himself.
Now, please, stay seated. Stick with me and...just think with me for a moment: Does Satan really want you to succeed? Your marriage? Your healthy relationships with your parents and own children? Your relationships with your best friends and colleagues?
No, he does not.
He desires the opposite.
And I tend to wholeheartedly support those with the wisdom who know this.

Gov. Sarah Palin's record and Political Platform for America, and as the next President of the United States of America..
-
She was a successful City Council Member.
She was a successful Mayor.
She was a successful oil and gas commissioner.
She was the youngest Elected Governor, in Alaska's history.
She Lowered all Alaskan Residents Property Taxes.
She cut wasteful spending.
She has rooted out corruption in her own party, as well as the Democratic party, starting with defeating the Corrupt incumbent Governor, Frank Murkowski, the Father of the other Corrupt Murkowski, Lisa.!!!
She had negotiated a Natural Gas pipeline deal that people said was impossible.
She had taken on the big oil companies that are the most powerful companies in the world to make sure the people were not getting screwed over, making sure safety standards were top shelf, and while still maintaining the importance of continued and increased production, and getting the major share of the Oil Revenues for all the Alaskan Citizens, as evident in the Annual State Oil Revenue Dividend check, aka, PDF, that every single person in Alaska gets, once a year.
And when she left office, which was to save the State the cost of Tens of Millions of Dollars in Legal fees, because of all the Hate Mongering Liberals, and their organizations, filing frivolous lawsuits against her, and the State of Alaska, just to destroy her, which they failed, when she left the Governor's office, she had turned a State Deficit, into a State Surplus, for Alaska, and the Alaskan People.
Sarah’s successful efforts to stop the cronyism and reform the energy business in Alaska were so impressive Kay Cashman, the publisher and executive editor of Petroleum News, wrote the book entitled: "Sarah Takes On Big Oil". This is a must read for anyone who wants to understand the leadership Sarah Palin has exhibited in the area of reforming government and industry.
-
These are the Facts, and they are Undisputed.!!!
-
Gov. Sarah Palin is a True Do it Yourself, Strong, Self-Made, Self-Reliant, Independent, "Andrew Jacksonian" / "Ronald Reagan", Constitutional Conservative Patriotic American.
Gov. Palin knows exactly what she is talking about, despite the far left's hate mongering ideological and political anal attempts to discredit her.
-
Here's her Political Presidential Platform as it stands now, in an article by Morgan Freeberg..
-
The Palin Platform
All Great Ideas Are Simple
by Morgan Freeberg in 'Politics'
That her ideas possess currency is undeniable. In fact, just now there is a burst of energy behind her ideas. Which is interesting, because her ideas are rather plain; in fact, they are wholly lacking in anything remarkable at all. They are deficient in the irony people usually crave. These are quaint, bland, “up is up and down is down” ideas. If she were to announce a run for the Presidency, it would probably be along these lines:
1. The Government should fear the citizens, not the other way around.
2. If you want the economy to be stronger, do not fight the people who produce our nation’s wealth. Help them.
3. If your plan will not get us the results we need, with all due respect I could care less how smart you are.
4. If we have seen this scheme put into action before, and have yet to see it succeed; then let us shelve it until someone makes it work.
5. Make it inexpensive to put people on a payroll, or to keep them on it. Then, maybe businesses will make cuts somewhere else during the lean times…and perhaps hire some more. We are not beating this any other way.
6. Every move we make on foreign policy should send a signal to our allies that they made the right choice defending us; or, to our enemies that they made the wrong choice and need to reverse course. Those who are undecided about us, but watching, should be motivated in a powerful way to decide in our favor.
7. Anyone who does something you might not be ready, willing or able to do yourself – regardless of what they pull down for an hour on the job before overtime – is deserving of your respect.

Palin's success as a public servant, small business owner, wife and mother speaks for itself. Intelligent, informed people know why Palin resigned as Governor. It was a completely honorable decision. People that say otherwise are either misinformed or relish dishonesty at any cost to promote a personal agenda.
Sarah Palin will be what God wants her to be. And all the hate mongering, gender bias, lies and insults won't change it. In fact, it seems to be empowering her. She said if she decides to run for President she will not do it in the conventional way. I am certain she has a strategy. She's smart and savvy and I have no doubt she would put the best and brightest in her cabinet.

Bob,
I concede, you're right, Sarah is completely unprepared, 18 years of experience in government, starting at the locla level - all the way to the governor's mansion is not enough experience.
So Bob, how much experience does one need?????
This whole unprepared meme is getting old and just reveals your latent condescension toward the country class and maybe even a bit of mysogyny rolled in for good measure. . ... got any one else who might even be a close 2nd in 2012 ?
Bob Grant| 12.15.10 @ 12:35PM
First: I'm far from an intellectual and am not looking for looking to vote for one.
Second: I find it tiresome how Palin supporters - in knee jerk fashion - throw the misogyny accusation at the slightest criticism of her. There are many females whom I deeply respect for their political thought, e.g, Margaret Thatcher, Jeane Kirkpatrick, Ayn Rand, Liz Cheney, etc. ...I've already stated numerous times I would vote for her should she win the nomination.
Third: Although I deeply respect her record of service to the people of Alaska, her accomplishments should be put in their proper perspective considering the relatively small, homogeneous state that it is. She's not had to deal (lead, negotiate, wield power on) with large, disparate groups of people. Would a conservative leader in a tiny European country, say Liechtenstein, be well suited to lead a superpower nation? Probably not. That is not to diminish her political record in any way.
Fourth: Yes, I do believe she flaunts her unwillingness to educate herself to the "satisfaction of the media and the left". When she does attempt to show what she knows, it seems forced and provides nothing deeper than what Rush Limbaugh discusses on his radio show, or maybe a quote from Thomas Sowell (both of whom I deeply respect).
I've yet to find an original thought express by her.
I would talk about her personal motivations but that would require and additional two thousand words and I'm getting bored...
