Opposing Obama

Recognizing whom we’re dealing with.

Gird up for battle. The next two years will be a rocky road.

Barack Obama is no Bill Clinton. He’s far more leftist. He’s at least equally as ruthless (which is really saying something, because both Clintons are among the most ruthless American politicians of our lifetimes). His outlook is far more alien to middle America, in that he really does believe much of middle America is benighted — clinging wrongly to God and guns, unable to think clearly under pressure, too stupid or ignorant or bourgeois to know what’s in their own best interests. And he doesn’t share Clinton’s neediness for short-term, person-to-person, feel-the-brotherly-love positive reinforcement. His goal isn’t personal “connection” with voters; it’s long-term adulation or adoration, verging on worshipfulness — an adulation that recognizes him as a world-transformational figure, a virtual gift to mankind.

Clinton, for all his faults, actually did empathize with individuals. Obama doesn’t empathize; he pities. And the object of pity is not an object to respect, so he doesn’t really respect the citizens he serves; he merely wants to tell them how to live, for what he imagines is their own good. But it’s a cold, supra-rational (but far from reasonable), hyper-judgmental conception of exactly what characterizes the “good” in the first place. Not to push the analogy too far, but at times he reminds me of “IT,” the brain on the planet Camazotz in Madeleine L’Engle’s A Wrinkle in Time. One gets the impression Obama would be perfectly happy if all of us bounced our basketballs in unison — in “mechanistic synchronicity,” as the Wikipedia entry put it — with his aim being “to enforce absolute conformity…, with the claimed benefit of eliminating war, unhappiness and inefficiency.”

Again, the analogy should not be pushed too far: This is not to suggest that Obama, like IT, is evil, but only that he seems in a rather bloodless way to want a society that marches to a uniform beat, dictated by supposed cognoscenti from above. Even if not evil, this vision is antithetical to freedom — not to mention astonishingly creepy.

Obama is perfectly willing to push executive power — actually, executive fiat — to the limit. The blizzard of regulations, or administrative rule-making divorced from congressional intent, that will come in the next two years will be staggering. So will the executive orders. The “privilege” claims against public disclosure will be extravagant. He’ll use the IRS, other administrative agencies, and perhaps the Justice Department, to harass political opponents. He’ll keep trying to find ways to empower union bosses and trial lawyers, leftist “non-profits” and interest groups; and he’ll use AmeriCorps and other federal outlets to help organize quasi-political efforts, too. And everything, absolutely everything, by hook and crook alike, will be aimed at creating a vote-generating machine — (and this does mean generating votes, not necessarily real, live, eligible voters) — unprecedented in the annals of American politics.

This is, after all, a man who looks with a fair amount of disdain, rather than pride, at American history. He sees our flaws, and imagines other flaws that didn’t exist. He despises our ally Great Britain, and resents our ally Israel, and doesn’t really mind leftist agitators such as Venezuela’s Hugo Chavez. He believes corporations are inherently evil, unless they are “partnered” with (or dominated by and directly answerable to) government. He believes not in a free market but a managed market, not in entrepreneurship but in incentivized “investment,” both private and especially public, for the supposed common good.

Obama is, to use the vernacular, an entirely different breed of cat. He does not think in conventional American political terms, or conventional societal terms. This is problematic: While some escapes from convention are devoutly to be desired, his model of action does not even nod to convention at all, and thus not to established and valuable societal norms. We want to celebrate American civilization; Obama wants to redefine it.

Ronald Reagan famously advised Americans to “trust but verify”; when it comes to Obama, conservatives should verify without trusting. We can even give him credit for what by his own lights are noble intentions, while knowing that there really is neither nobility nor admirability in them.

To deal with Obama, then, conservatives will need to keep our cool and keep our wits. But in keeping our cool, we must not be cold-blooded. We act not in hatred for what Obama stands for, but through love for country, Constitution, and civil society. The better angels of our nature, guided by a tough-minded realism, must prevail.

Sooo, a criminal con is better than a narcissistic Communist. Got it.

Clinton was and is the scum of the earth where going back recently to recap his loathsome record is fresh in my mind...like a daymare. However, to chooose between the two, I agree with you to that extent.

JF| 12.2.10 @ 4:19PM

Clinton was a leftist, to be sure, but he was astute enough to realize that for a parasite to survive, it could only drain so much blood. Obama, on the other hand, is perfectly willing to kill the host. He is a socialist vampire, and the American private sector is his prey. And as a narcissist, he cares not about the Obamazombies who will be left as destitute and desparate as they were when they voted for the man as long as he escapes well-fixed.

Nate W| 12.3.10 @ 12:20AM

Read Dinesh D'Souza's new book to see Obama's motive for ruining our country. His attitude, along with his hair-brained policies, will make perfect sense once you see the anti-colonialism behind it.

megapotamus| 12.6.10 @ 9:30PM

Call me crazy but the obvious and overwhelming awfulness of Obama is exactly what gives me the greatest hope. Well, really I've not yet had a lapse of confidence to need a hope infusion. All that is really necessary to remedy all our crushing problems is for Americans to pay serious attention. The worse things get the more attention they pay. The Clintons' advantage over Obama is largely in stagecraft. They know when to walk softly. This makes them far far more dangerous than Obama regardless of what he actually believes or plans. Of course it must be said that on many issues, fiscal especially, McCain would have been only slightly superior to Obama if superior at all and while indulging his expiating pseudo-socialism he would have been tarnishing this thing we call conservatism with the stink of our current malaise. So, while Voltaire was being sarcastic, I truly see that we are in The Best of All Possible Worlds and ultimately our fellow citizens will remedy this by joining us at the ballot box so long as bright lines are struck and maintained both high and low. Even squish Republicans might have a hard time screwing this one up.

Bush was a terrible President in most ways (except for taxes and judges) from a donservative perspective.

Only a mindless partisan (i.e., a liberal Democrat) would persist in believing that conservatives think GWB was great. There are lots of posts here that indicate exactly the opposite.

We conservatives held our noses and voted for him because the alternative was so much worse. And, especially in 2004, we hated it.

skip| 12.4.10 @ 8:45PM

I most certainly did not hold my nose.

Especially the second time around because America had not been attacked again.

He should be lionized for keeping two utterly despicable and contemptible excuses of humanity from being most powerful person in the world.

Too bad it wasn't three. The Founding Fathers had no Constitutional restriction on presidential terms after all.

And he put two high quality conservative justices on the supreme court. Eisenhower, Nixon, Ford, Reagan, and Bush 41 failed to do this.

Fiscal conservative he was not but I wonder how much of this was due to a partisan attempt on his part in order to secure funding of his efforts to keep America safe.

Over time history will be kinder to W.

The opposite is in store for Jimmuh, Slick, and Barry.

Romney is RADIOACTIVE! No Romney, no how, no WAY!
The only circumstance that would let any conservative consider electing Romney dog-catcher would be if he publicly and in detail denounces Romneycare and a good remainder of his record. And even if he did so, why should we believe it is any more than expedience? Romney is only a slightly lesser squish than McCain. His claims to competence differentiate him somewhat but those remain mostly "claims" until he explains why he predicted Obamacare, created it in scale and continues to defend its roiling disaster in Massachusetts. This would be a refudiation far deeper and more profound and more politically jarring than Obama's pitch of Wright under the bus. He's not up to it. Who would be? So long, Mitt. Enjoy the millions. Romney is RADIOACTIVE!

Everyone knows that the far left is socialism but the far right is called fascism. We are so far to the right that even a stones throw to the left looks like socialism. By all indicators, including the mid term election results, we are heading in to a liberal era. Obama will be elected again if historic indicators hold true as they are doing. Thank god for the left. Its been 4o years of unimaginative, selfish, right wing leadership.

Sorry Boris, the far right is not fascism; this is a distortion told by textbook makers and college professors to make people think that rightist ideology is a capable of evil as is leftist, and that the best case scenario is some sort of "balance." Libertarianism, minarchism, and anarchism are the right. If there were complete government control were at either end of the political spectrum, then anarchism would be in the middle; this is illogical.

Fairbanks99| 12.5.10 @ 3:26PM

It was a Lie began by Stalin that Facism is "right wing." Facism is every bit as Progressive as any other socialist "ism." The National Socialist German Workers Party and Mussolini's Facsists were very much the Big Govermnet control freaks. They were an amalgam of Big Business and Big Govermnet, not at all unlike what we have today with GE and Goldman Sachs. Western "intellectuals" loved Der Fuhrer and Il Duce in the beginning. This is why Stalin labled them "right wing." It was strictly a PR effort. Only when Hitler invaded the USSR did the Western Left turn against him.
No sir, anarchy is the "far right." No government at all.

chris| 12.6.10 @ 7:59AM

Another idiot that does not know left from right. NAZI= National SOCIALIST. Socialisim = LEFTIST. The German NAZI and the USSR Communist are wholy LEFTIST.
Extreme right would be anarchy. No govt at all. Who told you that The nazi's were right wing. Let me guess. A liberal progressive teacher. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Not even remotley close.

megapotamus| 12.6.10 @ 9:39PM

When someone declares himmself a socialist there is one question: Are you a national socialist or an international socialist?

Appleby| 12.2.10 @ 6:52AM

The best thing to do when it comes to Obama is ridicule him. The man is so thin skinned that he will soon show his true nature to a barrage of comedy. He has no sense of hum0ur, and his sense of self is so precarious that the only jokes he tells about himself are those written by others.

Meanwhile, find some way to remove him from relevance. Stand shoulder to shoulder and do not let him pass.

fbom0724| 12.2.10 @ 7:00AM

To ridicule is to acknowledge that 'the chosen one' has form and substance. A better approach is to ignore him. People like him need acknowledgement as food to feed their egos. Why do you think the ‘buggy whip’ or ‘lame stream’ media continue to bow down and kiss a certain part of his anatomy? Typical propaganda – tell a lie often enough – people will start to believe it.

Dr. Bob| 12.2.10 @ 8:41AM

As Mr. Hillyer has given license to armchair psychologists this morning, I have to go with Appleby's diagnosis. Obama has classic narcissistic personality disorder. He has an overinflated sense of self worth which carries over into a sense of entitlement. But the flip side of that is his self esteem is very fragile. Therefore it is difficult for him to take criticism, so laughing at him will drive him up the wall. He also clearly lacks empathy which enables him to be extremely exploitative of others. He believes he is special and can only be understood by brilliant people (like himself). And he needs those brilliant people to validate his underlying insecurities. So, let's just laugh. It's better than scowling and it will drive him nuts.

DCD-in-Indiana| 12.2.10 @ 9:38AM

I have to agree with Dr. Bob. I've suspected from the get-go that Obama's narcissistic personality disorder is so severe that the man's likely to come unhinged at any moment, as the overindulged are wont to do. Public ridicule and the complete frustration of his so-called progressive agenda are the countermeasures most likely to drive this guy off the rails. If the chorus of scorn attains sufficient volume, the guy just might pull a Nixon. The possibility may be remote, but a guy can dream, can't he?

Eric Cartman| 12.2.10 @ 12:09PM

Sure, but there's a dream tax.

idalily| 12.2.10 @ 3:32PM

Agree with all but the Nixon part. He may pull a Nixon (he may already have done), but we'll never know about it because no journalist will ever put the story out there. It will be hushed up, if and when it happens. Carl Bernstein would never have investigate a Dem for Watergate. And even if he had, his editor at WaPo would have killed the story.

Alan Brooks| 12.2.10 @ 10:32PM

" but a guy can dream, can't he?"

A hopeless dream, you Hoosier dope. Obama is not a psychopath like Nixon.

CalMark| 12.3.10 @ 12:22AM

Flee| 12.3.10 @ 12:24AM

He already had a slight Nixon moment with his "they talk about me like a dog" comment. Not much different than not having Nixon to kick around anymore. This guy is so sensitive he may lash out at any moment. The Republicans have to continue to resist his overtures at all cost. Push their agenda and forget compromising at this point.

Occam's Tool| 12.2.10 @ 1:20PM

Hey, I actually am a psychiatrist. The POTUS may not have any mental problems at all; haven't evaluated him. However, his media personna and the personna shaped by his campaign during the 2008 election season, along with what past history we can garner, reveals him to be behaving LIKE a Malignant Narcissist with a strong steak of Anti-Social PD (High functioning). Keep in mind, DSM-IV works off an atheoretical OBSERVABLE trait model of diagnosis. In other words, we don't know what's going on in the black box. We don know, however, what the actions and statements emanating from the black box are. Fit those to the diagnostic categories and yup, he's a Malignant Narcissist.

Occam's Tool| 12.2.10 @ 1:21PM

Sorry, "we do know, however"

John Navratil| 12.2.10 @ 1:35PM

Occam's Tool,

I'm not a psychiatrist, but am given to believe that the narcissist is so self absorbed that he cannot effectively delegate or play as part of a team. True? If so, would Obama's 32 czars rebut the assumption? I'm asking, not suggesting.

Occam's Tool| 12.2.10 @ 4:11PM

Inability to delegate is not a sign of NPD. As I'm finishing for the day, I happen to gaze upon my DSM-IV TR, Quick Reference. To quote: (and, by the way, he meets it from documentable actions alone, but I have NOT examined him, and that would be required for a real diagnosis. Let's say that this is for entertainment alone, shall we?)
*******************************************

Narcissistic Personality Disorder 301.81

A pervasive pattern of grandiosity (in fantasy or behavior), need for admiration, and lack of empathy, beginning by early adulthood and present in a variety of contexts, as indicated by 5 (or more) of the following:

1) Has a grandiose sense of self-importance (e.g., exaggerates achievements or talents, expects to be recognized as superior without commensurate achievements). [Uh, check. ot]
2) is preoccupied with fantasies of unlimited success, power, brilliance, beauty, or ideal love. [I won't check that one. ot]
3)believes that he or she is "special" and unique and can only be understood by, or should associate with, other special or high status people (or institutions). [Check. ot]
4)Requires excessive admiration. [check.ot]
5) has a sense of entitlement, i.e., unreasonable expectations of especially favorable treatment or automatic compliance with his or her expectations. [check. ot]
6) is interpersonally exploitative, i.e., takes advantage of others to achieve his or her own ends. [check---how many people has he thrown under the bus? ot---at this point he would meet diagnosis, but let's go on]
7) lacks empathy: is unwilling to recognize or identify with the feelings and needs of others. [I'm not going to check this---I'm trying to go with hard data that is easily verifiable. saj]
8) is often envious of others or believes that others are envious of him or her [the latter portion, that others are envious, is probably a check. ot]
9) shows arrogant, haughty behaviors or attitudes. [Yeah, I think so. Pretty well documented. saj]

So, criterions 1, 3,4,6 are very hard locks. Criterions 5 or 9 are solid locks, if less so than 1, 3, 4,6. 8 is the softest of all, but probably there.

Note that a narcissist CAN delegate and play with a team, as long as he's the boss. Note, too, the minimal amount of psychobabble in this definition. DSM-IV TR, as previously stated by me, is an ATHEORETICAL model---not driven by Freudian or Jungian views. It is driven by descriptions of behaviors and statements by the patient that can be observed. That makes for better interrater reliability and the means to scientifically study this, to some extent. DSM-V will be coming out in a few years, I think. The DSM-III, released in 1980, began this atheoretical approach to diagnosis, and we are trying to refine this, which is quite difficult for a variety of reasons which I shall not bore you folks with here.

I make my living keeping people from killing themselves or others. This is a relief valve for me, and you guys are, almost entirely, a lovely and forgiving audience.

RCV| 12.2.10 @ 6:53PM

I don't share the popular disdain for psychiatry, but the good practioners I know don't diagnose patients they haven't seen personally, particularly on criteria as amorphous as these and evaluated through rather unobjective political lenses.

But given my respect for you otherwise, all is forgiven.

Occam's Tool| 12.3.10 @ 11:10AM

I did say "for entertainment purposes only," and that I would need to evaluate him personally, RCV.

However, to get away from it all for a moment, anybody who would let someone get away with calling him "a god," as Obama did with Joe Klein in Newsweek, without calling bullshit, worries me. Harry S. Truman had a much better view of this, and Plain Speaking is well worth your time RCV.

But, again, I think you missed my introductory paragraph which addressed your concerns directly.

RCV| 12.3.10 @ 12:05PM

"Plain Speaking" is indeed a gem. I love the book, and its subject. My comments were also in good natured fun, as I tried to indicate at the end. Best regards.

JF| 12.2.10 @ 4:22PM

I would think that the 32 czars' primary role is to agree with Obama. This would be in keeping with his narcissism while maintaining an appearance of giving a rat's behind what other people think.

"We act not in hatred for what Obama stands for"

Are you serious? This guy is a Marxist to the core. The same marxist religion that relegated tens of millions to their graves and millions more to labor camps, torture, and prisons in the 20th century. His kind of government philosophy needs to be defeated and destroyed at every turn. as it is the enemy of every freedom loving human on earth. He is a follower of the most ultimate evil mankind has ever foisted upon itself. He's a Marxist Quin, get it? Call him was he is and save the philosphy lesson.

Deborah D | 12.2.10 @ 8:22AM

Yeah, Mike D., I picked up on that line as well. I do hate what Obama stands for -- I can't pretend not to. He stands for "fundamentally transforming" the United States of America. Um...there's nothing to like about that.

Ellen| 12.2.10 @ 12:48PM

He warned that if we elected him we would see a transformation of America. I listened. I did not vote for him. Appparently not enough people did listen. The sooner he moves back to Chicago our nation will begin to belong to us as citizens again

canuckistani| 12.2.10 @ 12:53PM

So you are suggesting everyhting is just fine with America?
You can explain it to your children and grand children that the country once had a burgeoning middle-class, a patient, effective foreign policy and a growth curve that was the envy of the world.

This occurred AFTER the collapse of 1929 and the introduction of the New Deal and the GI Bill.
Big business and banks screwed themselves into a corner then, and guess what, did it again when government lifted their thumb off of their greedy little spines.
Small business and the regular guy gets it in the ear, every time.
There is noone amongst your sycophantic community that would even dare to consider these "fundamental" transformative changes to American policy as even utterable in a positive light today.
That is the shame of current discourse here. It is ok to slam the policies of your opponents and offer real, practical alternatives and not ones that smack of baser suspicions of the exotic in the WH.

He'll be gone soon enough, and neutered by the new house (possibly). And then what?

You offer the American people nothing, especially in the modern world where your quaint ideas about an America that never really existed is supposed to be the roadmap back to la la land.

The Arabs have the dough, the Chinese are eating our lunch on growth and alternative energy, and our industrial might has been undermined by corporatist thugs that abandoned their birthrights a long long time ago.

BHO, for all his apparent faults, is the first president since Ike to substantively challenge preconceived notions about American capabilities - within the structures in place today.
Debate him and offer alternatives that have even the faintest chance of working, but to ignore the necessity for the debate is dishonest.

DL| 12.2.10 @ 1:23PM

Excellent post canuckistani.

carnot| 12.2.10 @ 1:57PM

BS it is. it's full of left-wing cant and ignores what we have all observed for over a quarter century - a huge swath of this country's problems find their source IN THE GOVERNMENT ITSELF. we can get to Unions and other corrypt quasi-government creatures...before digesting private greed in all its glory.

canuckistani can eat feces and die. it's the same ole rhetoric of aligning all faults to one set of perceived villians. in other words...not to be taken seriously......

idalily| 12.2.10 @ 3:50PM

It's not an excellent post. It's nonsense. The New Deal did not create a burgeoning middle class. It lengthened and worsened the depression, and only the war shook us out of that. Without the New Deal, the middle class boom would have happened anyway, and much sooner than it actually did. We see nothing positive in the New Deal because there is nothing positive to see. The New Deal was nothing more than theft, redistribution of wealth, and it is WRONG, WRONG, WRONG. Also, it does not work.

As to our quaint ideas, sneer all you like. Sneering is one of the left's favorite tactics. It doesn't make those quaint ideas any less real or any less valid.

And conservatives have been offering solutions to the problems we face all along. People like you simply stick your fingers in your ears and don't listen, much like Obama did to Paul Ryan at the Health Care Summit.

And challenging preconceived ideas is only good when you have workable solutions. As we have seen with painful clarity during the past two years, Obama has no workable solutions. And it is Obama who is dishonest; if his lips are moving, he is lying. Believe me, no one here would ever shirk from debating Obama about ideas, or solutions. Bring it on.

txn4ever| 12.2.10 @ 1:57PM

Obama isn't interested in debate or have you forgotten what the "won" has said many times? You know, like the time he said the oppostion can come along for the ride but they need sit in the back and keep their mouths shut. How is that for a debating point?

Also, I think you need to go back and check out the history of the New deal and the years immediatley following 1929 crash before the New Deal was implemented. Because you obviously don't have a clue.

John II| 12.2.10 @ 2:32PM

"Debate him and offer alternatives . . ."

Apparently, you haven't been paying much attention, Nuckie. Narcissists don't debate: we've been treated to abundant evidence of the Professor's indifference to serious argument.

The real (economic) enemy to the Obamanation is precisely the small businesses (about 16 million of them, accounting for nearly 70 percent of American productivity) for which you claim to feel some admiration. The evil big businesses which you denounce are scrambling to get in bed with the Obamanation. What on earth do you think the Professor's ad ridiculum slander of the Chamber of Commerce was about?

Occie's psychiatric diagnosis of the Professor is plausible so far as it goes, but it doesn't get past the therapeutic ethos, which itself is intrinsically evil insofar as it distorts human motivation.

Mr. Hillyer is weirdly wrong to prescind from the question of evil in the wake of describing something evil. There is a moral dimension to all this, and Appleby's got it right to suggest ridicule as an effective response to the renegade Obamanation. The devil, Erasmus tells us, is the proud spirit: he cannot endure to be mocked.

And now back to "King of Kings" (1924), the best Jesus-flick to date. Apparently the silent screen was perfectly suited to capturing the universality of the Christ figure.

RCV| 12.2.10 @ 7:11PM

Oh, John, you have been too immersed in the movies of late and succumbed to the temptation to see everything in black and white and good and evil. The political disagreements among Democrats and Republicans on matters such as whether the top tax rate should be 32 or 36 or 39, or whether the Start II Treaty is strategically smart or not, are decidedly NOT battles between good and evil. I have the same arguments with my friends on the further-left who see Obama as constantly caving into the evil conspiracy of right-wing fascists and their handmaidens, the evil rich. President Obama is a good person, with whom you have disagreements on the best way to achieve what we all want for our country: a return to prosperity and opportunity for all, and peace and security. Don't demonize those with whom you disagree.

But speaking of evil, on this day in 1859, John Brown was hanged for attacking an institution that was indeed truly evil to the core.

John II| 12.2.10 @ 11:27PM

Actually, no. He was hanged for murdering (not just demonizing) people who disagreed with him.

And now back to "Santa Fe Trail" (1940), in which George Custer (Ronald Reagan) demurs with Jeb Stuart (Errol Flynn) on their way to capture and arrest John Brown (played to a smug T by Raymond Massey) for his terrorist activities. Custer says to Stuart that, after all, slavery is bad, and Stuart says to Custer yes but you don't fight evil with evil. Charles Middleton, who had distinguished himself in the role of the emperor Ming the Merciless in the Flash Gordon serials, plays the evil racist Gentry. (I mean, his name is really Gentry--I don't mean to use the lefty term "racist gentry.") Boy, those were the good ol' days, when evil was evil and good was good, and a five-dollar cigar cost a nickel.

Fredrick Ward| 12.2.10 @ 3:10PM

"Big business and banks screwed themselves into a corner then, and guess what, did it again when government lifted their thumb off of their greedy little spines."

Uh,.. It is the centralist planning that screwed over the businesses, and banking system; not the other way around. The unions, who are not necessary any longer, have done much harm to our country. They've driven up prices with their incessant greed, and in doing so they have also driven jobs to other lands.

Obama is a marxist who wants nothing more than to rule over every breath we take, and you want me to bother debating with him? His preconception about what America is capable of is quite clear; he shows it every time he treats us all like a nation of morons who he must preside over and correct. The only answer for the Obama problem is to obliterate him and his ilk where ever they are, and treat them as true enemies of this country.

MikeD| 12.2.10 @ 7:00AM

How true it is! However, it still leaves us with the basic question: Short of unlawful removal, what do we do about him? For unless something radical is done with/to obama, history will record this time as "Hitler, The Sequel", a time when we all knew what we were dealing with but nobody did anything about it. Will we be treated as savagely as German citizens in the late 1930s by future historians?

I can't wait to see what the furious, foam spouting liberals will have to scream about the mention of obama and hitler in the same piece, but we'd better not dismiss it too soon or too easily. Like the Fuherer, this man will do anything because he really believes that the ends justify his means. As a reminder, remember that he was perfectly willing to pass a law that would force a baby that survived being yanked out of its' mother's womb to be let to die. That's the kind of monster we're dealing with.

Do not believe a thing this man, or his thugs like reid and pelosi, just to name a few, says. Watch what he does. We all have to be afraid, be very afraid.

If the Republicans believe that there is ANY compromise with this evil man they'd better think again; for the Republicans will be judged as harshly as the obamamonster if they do not do everything they can to stop him at every turn. Only the future existence of our Country, and our individual liberty and even our lives, are at stake.

Well, in dealing with this newest Hitler wannabe at least the one thing America has in her favor is that Obama does not have the societal meltdown at the beginning that Hitler did -- just a lot of stupid people. So although Obama may CAUSE meltdown, I think we have a chance to halt the damage before it goes too far ...

Kerry| 12.2.10 @ 11:44AM

I must disagree, Obama will never be Hitler. He could never burn 6 million bodies and pollute our atmosphere, now turning us into soylant green and feeding us to the poor, that is a different story.....

Eagle| 12.5.10 @ 3:22PM

You have to be kidding me! There is more than one FEMA/concentration camp already built or being built in all 50 states for Americans. The 50 states are known as 10 districts. The new Council of Governors for the 10 districts will oversee these camps. They are all built on railroad lines and the sitings of millions of black cacket liners have been seen all over the country only to disappear once found and reported on. Stupidity is going to get us all killed. He is a very sick man with a team of sick followers. Many won't believe this until you are standing in line at the trains heading for the gas chambers! It's all over the web with reports, sitings, documentaries, videos, etc.

Richard Cummings| 12.2.10 @ 1:09PM

The idea that Obama is Hitler is simply nuts. There is absolutely no basis for this. Show me some alternative policies! Get serious about ending farm subsidies, for example, that Republicans still support. One of them owns a ranch that has made her millions in subsidies. She has "sold" it to her parents, who take the subsidies. Cut the defense budget, with all of its waste and corruption. Do what Romney says: go through all government agencies and programs, line by line, cutting whatever is not absolutely essential. The Republicans are about to vote to raise the debt ceiling, but making themselves sound tough by demanding that Obama accept a continuation of all the Bush tax cuts. Are they not aware that we are at war? You just don't cut taxes for the wealthy when you are war. During the Cold War, Eisenhower got tax rates to the highest in American history. It was necessary. How about winning the war against the Taliban and the terrorists. Our troops need all sorts of things to win, so let's give it to them. That takes money. The wars cost fortunes every month. Get real.

Mayte| 12.2.10 @ 2:20PM

Nobody is getting a tax-cut. The vote being considered is to keep the current tax-rates, so as to not allow the spend-thrift congress to continue to waste. What is being considered is the Obama tax-hike. The so-called wealthy did not get to where they are because bags of money fell on their heads from heaven. They got that way by taking risks, being entrepeneurs or innovators, or by advancing their educations beyond what most people do in order to have lucrative careers. With their money that remains untouched by gov, they donate to whom they choose --their church, their favorite charity, a disabled family member, etc.-- and save for their children's futures and their retirements so that they would never be a charity case or the responsibility of government.

Mayte| 12.2.10 @ 2:22PM

And I may add: The "wealthy" hire. They employ people. Business owners employ and provide benefits. Plus they spend on many services. That is how you stimulate the economy.

And it would be good to not get into wars that one cannot afford.

Phil| 12.2.10 @ 9:11PM

I agree with Mayte 100% it's nice to see some people
Have a clue to what Obama is doing this nation. He is every bit as bad as Hitler. All you have to do is read your history books people. He is going through all the same steps to communism as every other country that went that way. Obey or go to the death camps.

Kenny| 12.2.10 @ 7:18AM

Appleby writes, "The best thing to do when it comes to Obama is ridicule him."

Yes ridicule Obama --- and his supporters, too.

Also expose Obama's radicalism and resist him and all his allies.

Ellen| 12.2.10 @ 12:52PM

As he said in a campaign speech, he really believes he is the one we have waited for. Arrogant and egotistical, he really believes he is a Messiah. He is so thin-skinned that I believe when he does not get his way he resorts to stamping feet, pounding tables and cannot understand those of us who doubt him. He lies so much he makes the Clintons look like amateurs.

skip| 12.4.10 @ 8:30PM

Wait, are you talking about Obama or his supporterslike Alan Brooks and RCV? Or all of the above?

idalily| 12.2.10 @ 3:56PM

Agreed. I mean, it's effective, and not really that hard.

John Daniel| 12.2.10 @ 7:22AM

Why are we so afraid to call Obama what he is - a communist. When he advocates the redistribution of wealth, well, last I checked, that was also advocated by Karl Marx who kind of defined what it is to be a communist. Playing nice won't work. We must fight!

Mike D.| 12.2.10 @ 7:37AM

John, your dead on. Communist is still a bad word. Too many of us who remember what Communism is and what it did to untold lives are still around. As soon as the school system can sanitize, scrub and sterilize the history of Marxism and Communism to the younger generations coming up it will remain so. He's a communist and so many still are afraid to call this usurper what he is and what he stands for. Afraid to be called "controversial" for calling this two bit Maoist thug what he is still permeates debate. Alas, the left still controls the language at least for now.

John daniel| 12.2.10 @ 8:52AM

Good point. Our civic education is so bankrupt that most probably believe "redistribution of wealth" is in the Bill of Rights.

Mike D.| 12.2.10 @ 9:13AM

John,
Unfortunately many already do!

idalily| 12.2.10 @ 4:06PM

Excellent point. Communism has already been sterilized, making it more palatable to the American people. Many early Communists had Aryan ideas, but the left ignores this or is ignorant of it. Margaret Sanger, for example, is lauded by the left for her ideas about birth control, but her motive of racial/ethnic purity has long been hushed up by the Left. Most on the Left don't even really know who Mao was, and don't care. They gloss over Lenin, and his inevitable consequence (Stalin) as if those were accidents, and ignore the fall of Communism's heretofore most glorious example: the USSR.

Why do you think they fought so hard to get national control of education? I have a friend who is a teacher with a Master's who does not know who Mao was, does not know what caused the Soviet fall, and thinks "helping the poor" is something the government needs to be doing. She has been indoctrinated all her life. Liberalism is a cult. A brainwashed cult, because it ignores plain truth any time truth goes against the dogma.

I very much fear that even complete economic wipe out will not pull the rosy red glasses from their communistic eyes.

Lawrence Boccardi| 12.2.10 @ 7:25AM

PaulD| 12.2.10 @ 7:48AM

christopher| 12.2.10 @ 7:52AM

The wikileaks provide the best example of the hypocrisy of Obama and his sycophant followers such as the media.
We now know Obama conducted a secret war in Yemen. We bombed terrorists bases, and probably killed innocent civilians. The Yemen government assumed the responsibility and stated it did the bombing. They lied. Obama lied. Now I have no objection to attacking the terrorists, but let us be honest about it.
When the media broke the story in 1970 thatNixon conducted the so called secret bombing of the Ho Chi Minh trail in Cambodia there was widespread condemnation, including rioting at college campuses, remember Kent State? The media and liberals went crazy accusing Nixon of war crimes, etc. And during the impeachment of Nixon, one of the charges discussed was the so called illegal war in Cambodia. Guess who, as a young staffer on the Democrat committee, pushed for this charge? She is now the Secretary of State, HILLARY, who participated in this Yemen cover up.
This shows how Obama views himself as above the law

Ned| 12.2.10 @ 11:31AM

Elaborating on the bombing Cambodia theme: the bombing of the Ho Chi Minh trail had been going on for over a year before it broke in the media - it was entirely a contrived media event. The NON-reporting of the military action in Yemen, and the swallowing whole of the Yemeni claims that it was their doing is also an entirely contrived media event. Barry Bullsh*t is an entirely contrived media event as well. So might a suggest a two pronged approach. Ridicule him, actively ignore them.

Stormzeye| 12.2.10 @ 7:57AM

"This is not to suggest...that Obama is evil."
I beg to differ. He is the personification of evil because his duplicity and prevarication is coupled with the lack of moral compass...a wolf in sheep's clothing.
He is not a Moslem (only a Moslem sympathizer). He is incapable of worship. I believe him to be an atheist. His "theology" is rooted in centralized control...national today, globally some day. Individual liberty and personal freedom are anathema to him. He must bend us to his will not for the good of mankind (that would make him a romantic) but to enable even greater control. If this is not evil, it doesn't exist.

Deborah D | 12.2.10 @ 8:32AM

I couldn't agree more with your assessment, Stormzeye. This man is just not that in to us. He doesn't care what Americans think, what Americans believe, what Americans want -- we're too stupid, too clingy to our guns and religion. We should be bowing down to him, to his ideology -- otherwise we deserve what we get. The entire country must be aligned with his thinking -- who do those stupid Founders think they are -- they are sooo 18th Century. That's his mindset. It's obvious for those who are willing to look.

Joe Oliva| 12.2.10 @ 12:43PM

Excellent point Storm.

Not only that, but he doesn't even care about his fellow Black American brothers. He destroyed the voucher program in D.C. and now his Obamacare is causing the 1199 HealthCare workers union to drop their coverage of children because they can't support the up to age 26 requirement. Here in NY, want to guess what the ethnic background is of most of these union workers whose kids will now be denied health care?

You only get one guess.

Occam's Tool| 12.2.10 @ 1:27PM

I must agree with Stormzeye and respectfully disagree with Quin on the subject of Obama's "evil."

I think BHO is evil. His aims are definitely evil, his means are morally suspect, his friends are scum. In short, walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, has feathers, floats, flies, and bacteria cultivated from his stool samples are native to the Fulvous Whistling-Duck --- Dendrocygna bicolor.

Yes, probably a duck.

Actually, Roberto, the Apocalypse has been in progress, so to speak, since Adam bit into the apple--again, so to speak.

Now and then, however, that condition becomes strikingly obvious--sometimes in our personal lives but rather more often in the public arena, amid this oddly apocalyptic era.

The reckoning is nigh. I reckon.

And now back to "One Million B.C." Panaceas are Man's attempts to improve the world and are always sponsored by Satan.
Any solution sought apart from divine truth is a cosmic panacea. A cosmic panacea is an Evil (Satanic) solution which tries to keep the Lord Jesus Christ out of of the picture. The world's panaceas reject any salvation by grace or spirituality by grace. Instead of freedom, there is the demand for equality. "The end always justifies the means" is the motto of the believer participating in this. He believes in redistribution of wealth, over-taxation, legislation to solve all problems, sameness in life, big government and little people where citizens are slaves of the state, regulation of private enterprise, confiscation of private property, and utopianism. Cosmic panaceas lead to violence, terrorism, and revolution under the principle of social engineering. The state trains the children to be obedient to the dictates of the state rather than to parents. There is a total rejection of freedom and authority.

God says to abstain from every form of evil. Therefore, learn what EVIL is. For more information:

Mike D.| 12.2.10 @ 8:37AM

Communism, Socialism, theocracies, among many things are the paneceas of evil. Governments as they grow, feed, and consolidate power turn into self-preserving, self protecting, parasitic organisms that will kill the host. Marxism in all its forms is a packaged form of Utopianism. Thats why its so easy to sell to students, both K12 and university. Its the answer to all man's shortcomings rolled into one nice tidy package, what history challenged youth could not agree with that? Its also the perfect vehicle power hungry, ruthless individuals use to ride to power and control over the people. Ironically, when the most ruthless sociopath of the "revolution" consolidates his power, its the "Comrades" and the "useful idiots" and the academic elitists who are the first to be purged and eliminated. A person who espouses an evil philosophy is therefore an evil person. The writer of this article is halfway home and in a semi state of denial maybe suffering from "it can't happen here" or "he's couldn't really be what he really is" disease.

Osama ben Obama was not raised by parents with a vested interest in the child. He may have been spawned by them, but not raised. He was raised instead by every hack in the anti-culture of his time, bombers, demonstrators, communists (pardon the short hand Ken), including his grandparents. He was brought up outside the world of the USA, perhaps even born there. His records (birth, educational, etc.)are sealed for the good of the man or nation, can't tell which. And you're asking us to understand this person?

"conservatives will need to keep our cool and keep our wits. But in keeping our cool, we must not be cold-blooded."

Obama is cold blooded from the git go. Yes, we must be cool and witty, and to keep our minds towards the good of the nation should be foremost, but we should fight fire with fire, in the streets, in the fields, on the beaches, and never surrender.

coal carrier| 12.2.10 @ 8:26AM

Ladies and gentlemen, who is this guy? He came out of nowhere and now he is our president. What is his experience? He was a community organizer on the public dole. Never held a job in the private sector. He was elevated to the rank of a Jr. Senator and ran for president. He campaigned on “we are going to fundamentally change the United States of America”. Fundamentally change America to what? Did anyone in the media ask this question? No they didn’t. I guess they were in awe of the Roman Columns.

Does the general public know anything about his father and his background? How about his mother and what was her ideology? What was the political ideology of his grandparents who raised him? Look at the people that he has surrounded himself with and who he looks to for support: Andy Stern, Jeff Jones and Bill Ahyers, radicals from the 60’s. Socialists looking to destroy America. Who else? Cass Sunstien, the Propaganda Czar. Van Jones, an avowed communist, just to name a few. And who are these people?

They are all socialists or communists. Not one person in his administration or sphere of influence is a free market capitalist. Ah, you say, because capitalism has failed. You say, look at the state of the economy. I say, the state of the economy is what it is not because of capitalism’s failure, but rather the outrageous, over weighted, intrusion of governmental intervention in the private sector for 50+ years. Taxation, regulation and excessive entitlements are about to bring the US to its knees. Special interest political groups and individuals with an open door to the Oval Office have raped the Treasury. Foreign aid has risen to billions of dollars, yet the worldview of the United States is at an all time low.

What do these socialists and communists want? They want the total collapse of our entire economic and financial system. They tried it in the 60’s but they failed. Their failure was due, in a large part, to our parents. The Greatest Generation would not let this happen. The men had balls and the women had guts. So overthrowing the American government by force wouldn’t work. So now they are working inside of the government. In the words of Van Jones “ We will achieve the change we want from the bottom up, from the top down and from the inside out”.

Why has he issued so many executive orders? Because, in his eyes, there will be no need for the Constitution or the congress any longer. What the hell do you think he meant when he said, “we are going to fundamentally change this country”? Educate yourself. Read his books; look at the people that he has surrounded himself with and look at his family. Who they were, what they believed in and how he was trained.

Stan Redmond| 12.2.10 @ 9:52AM

We all knew who he was. He told us. In two egocentric books he told the world who he is.

He is half black and a self proclaimed full black. That's all that mattered. How many voted for Obama because "it would be cool to have the first black president?" I wager 50 % of his votes were for that simple fact.

Redstateboy| 12.2.10 @ 11:28AM

one of the great ironies is the Black population in America roundly voted for and Still support their Boy.. and they're taking it in the shorts the most for it.. 16% unemployment and 40% for Blacks between the ages of 17-24

For those of you that think that the Country can come to some form of reconciliation after Clinton and Obama are sadly chasing fools gold.
I do not mean to deride your hope, but between the politics of the Clinton's and Obama 's they have much to their credit, have so divided this Nation with their polarizing policies, there is no way that even after they're out of office that this Nation can ever be unified again.
This Country will continue to exist, but not as the United States that many of us once new, but rather a state that is more similar to the State of Zimbabwe, Somalia, or England.
The Clinton's and the Obama's have created vast armies of sycophant bureaucratic followers that infest every nook and cranny of all levels of government.
The Peoples Liberation Army of China openly contributed the Clinton's and it got them technology to our nuclear submarine propeller technology and guidance technology for the multiple nuclear warheads to make them more accurate.
The Clinton's and Obama's are dirty rotten political scoundrels and have done more damage to this Country than any invading forces ever could.
Am I just being overly pessimistic? No I don't think so. The Republican leadership have entered into a power sharing agreement with the current and past administrations, so there is no hope for recourse there. The 2010 elections will be a mute point due to the Republican Progressives, marginalizing the new Senators and Congressmen to the point of them saying, "The Hell with it, it is all rigged."
2012 will come and go and even with a new President from either party the status quo will not change.
So is summation. We have had the 2010 elections, and will have 2012 elections with nothing changing but the faces, do you think America will have the cajones to confront those who sit upon their gilded thrones and wrap themselves with the aura of supremacy and elitism?
Both the Republicans and Democrats have pretty much taken everything we have and own. We have nothing left but the blood that flows through our veins, but I think that even that won't be enough to sate the thirst of government.

Miked| 12.2.10 @ 1:00PM

I sit here wondering in fear what obama, reid, and pelosi are doing behind our backs to continue their destruction of America. Ideally, we should be able to trust that our Representative Republic should be able to reflect the will of the electorate; but sadly, that may not be the case.

What makes any of us think that the obama gang will give one damn about us and our wishes? After all, we're only the "great unwashed"; and they are the "Brilliant Elite" who have been appointed by the "Great Earth Mother Gaiea" to rule over us because we are not capable of making our own decisions. They should be thrown out of Congress physically and arrested for even staging this charade of a "Lame Duck Session". It is nothing but an arrogant attempt to smash the will of the people as expressed on election day. These people will stop at nothing to get their way; and we should arrest them and charge them with malfeasance in office at the least, and more reasonably; TREASON. These people are deadly serious about imposing their will on the rest of us illegally, and by force if necessary, and that is a criminal offense.

We'd better get accustomed to the possibility that obama is confident that he has some mechanism of thwarting the democratic process; as revealed in the liberal voices publicly plotting to 'do away' with the Electoral College. The Founding Fathers were very concerned with the sewage oozing from cities grown too large on the backs of the theft of resources from those who earned them to those who wanted them; ie., liberals and democrats bleating in favor of 'redistribution of wealth. That's a very thinly veiled synonym for STEALING.

If the Electoral College were eliminated, the worst of the oozing sewers would rule the Country. This president will do ANYTHING to get his way. It was precisely for situations like this that the Second Amendment was made part of the Constitution. We may all very well need our weapons before obama and his thugs are done lying and stealing.

Remember, barry the muslim and his thugs could STEAL EVERY ELECTION FOR THE HOUSE AND SENATE; AND FOR THE PRESIDENCY, AND, EVEN IF CAUGHT, THERE IS NOTHING WE COULD ABOUT IT SHORT OF ARMED REBELLION.

Al (The scum) Franken shamelessly stole the Minnesota Senate seat, and even though the theft has been proven, he still sits in his own oozing sewage in the Senate. And we can't do a damned thing about it.

Obama doesn’t seem to accept the election results. Why should he? With his election the Left made it all the way into enemy territory for the first time. This was their chance to ‘fundamentally’ transform the country. If you’re a leftist you don’t let go of something like this just because of one election; you fight back with anything and everything you have. One manifestation of this is the Bamster’s, “election? What election?” Republicans will have to accept the reality behind this and go about the business of bulldozing Obama’s agenda into a landfill where it belongs. In the meantime they have to buck up and deal with the Washington Harpies who will try to make their lives miserable. They should also keep an eye on RINOs who will try to fill the spiritual shoes of ousted dems. Last, but not least, they will have to find a way to manage the Bamster’s decline. There is a lot of harm left in him. You Republicans in Congress should accept that he will never be straightforward or honest with you. He views you collectively as his ideological enemy, a far worse threat to him and his imaginary America than Al Qaeda or the world’s superabundance of criminals could ever be. Once you accept this as a fact you will start making progress toward getting rid of Obama’s agenda. The voters will take care of the rest of it for you in 2012.

Mattled| 12.2.10 @ 8:51AM

The RNC (hopefully with Saul Anuzis running it) should hire Ari Fleischer to start running a PR campaign with common sense slogans designed to stick in people's heads. The Republicans should hold a press conference every day to announce what went on and preempt the Liberal Lying media from their spin.
Cutting budgets? The media will say that R's are denying food to starving indigent one-armed blind school children. They lie, they lie and then they lie some more.
Talk above the media. Without the complicit lying treasonous media, Odingo would still be in the Ill Legislature voting "present".
Can't someone start a media campaign against the media? I've been watching the Newsbusters 2.5 Million dollar campaign against media bias. Is it working? No. Why? Because the targets are NBC, CBS, ABC and NYT.

"This is not to suggest that Obama, like IT, is evil, but only that he seems in a rather bloodless way to want a society that marches to a uniform beat, dictated by supposed cognoscenti from above. Even if not evil, this vision is antithetical to freedom -- not to mention astonishingly creepy."

So Quin, exactly what part of totalitarianism do you find to be "good?" Which breed of tyranny is Obama pushing which you find beneficial, and not "evil?"

Obama has no one's best interests at heart but his own, has no respect for human life but his own, and no tolerance for any point of view save his own. He has a thirst for societal revenge which he packages as "fairness" or "justice." Hatred is at the heart of his philosophy, and power - absolute power and control over how everyone lives their lives - is his greatest aspiration.

Sorry, Quin. Obama is evil, thoroughly and completely evil.

Albert| 12.2.10 @ 10:04AM

I agree completely. Totalitarianism IS evil, inherently. What Mr. Hillyer misses is that many despots of history whom we commonly regard as "evil" did not see themselves that way. Stalin and Mao pretty much saw the World and their roles in it, same way as President Bozo, that is the World is unruly and needs a strong hand to "lead" and "rule." These people's egos were so massive that they saw themselves as the only ones qualified to hold such great power and that by virtue of their egos and their power, their actions were automatically classified as "good." Such people see themselves as incapable of evil, whereas the rest of us see them as the personification of evil. But then, it is easy to judge oneself favorably when one is atop the pyramid. Those who suffer under such rulers have a different perspective. Of course the important differences to understand between Stalin and Mao on one hand, and President Bozo on the other, are 1) Bozo legally has no such power and is unlikely to get it in a nation of armed citizens, and 2) Stalin and Mao were actual LEADERS who made their own destinies, evil as they were. Bozo on the other hand, is a puppet for other people, people with money who have manufactured Bozo and his vacuous career from whole cloth.

George True| 12.2.10 @ 12:46PM

You make a good point that we should always keep in mind. In their own minds, statists of various stripes have convinced themselves that they are doing God's own work, while we who oppose them are at the very least churlish and uneducated, and at the most unrepentant evildoers.

Even Hitler did not wake up every morning and think to himself, 'Gee, what's the most evil thing I could do today?". He was convinced in his own marcissistic and sociopathic mind that HE was the good guy.

And this is what makes these people so very, very dangerous. There is no compromise, no common ground, and no accomodation that can be entered into with such as these. They have their own system of Taquiya, wherein they will tell you any lie they think you need to hear in order to get you to "compromise" with them. And any such compromise in the name of "bi-partisanship" will only get the camel's body farther under the tent.

Let us all make sure that we reinforce this understanding in our newly-elected members of congress.

Joe Oliva| 12.2.10 @ 1:29PM

Your most succinct point Albert, is the money angle. Soros, Bernanke, Geithner, Paulson. et al, know very well that the key to bringing down America is to ruin her financially. Have they done so? With amazing success, they are getting close.

We need to be aware of how far they have gotten because their goal is to allow only large corporations beholden to the federal government to survive. The GM bailout accomplished that, denying legitimate bondholders their stake while giving control to the faithful union. Along the way, 1600 dealerships and their workers were all screwed out of jobs!

Look at this monstrosity of a Food Safety bill. The main object is to allow the major food corporations to survive while running the smaller farmers & ranchers out of business. It also explains the absurd EPA ruling that cut off water to mostly small farmers in California to protect some irrelevant fish species.

The illegal immigration battle is being lost as our own federal government sues its own state, in this case Arizona, for wanting to enforce federal law and protect its citizens. Ruthless and extremely violent drug gangs now control United States territory!

Every act that the GOP agrees to will further the loss of freedom and our rights, and once the Constitution is effectively made useless by the actions of the communists, what will we have left to fight back with?

Our next battle is not for the Presidency, it is for State Governors who will "man up" and stand solidly behind the 10th Amendment, telling the feds to butt out. States should reject federal judges' rulings that are unconstitutional in that they tread upon states' rights.

The battle is now joined and either we win or we will lose for our children and grandchildren the freedoms all of us have taken for granted. They are already attacking speech with vigor, and of course, Christianity.

Under new guidelines for education, children will soon be given psychiatric examinations starting in grade school. What we used to call rowdiness (boys will be boys) will now be labeled as a disorder needing drugs and/or treatment. Guess what follows that? As an adult, people with such past diagnosis will not be allowed to purchase firearms.

My wife, who hates politics and only pays attention because I force her to came to her own conclusion without any prompting from me that Obama is pure evil. Sorry Quinn, but there can be no compromise with any of this man's agenda!

idalily| 12.2.10 @ 4:19PM

Totalitarian dictators have to convince themselves they are gods, or god-approved. Mainly because their true, deepest motives are so, so trivial. Hitler, for example, wanted to be an artist. His paintings didn't sell, and that I'll-show- them mentality gave us the Halocaust. Castro didn't make the Washington Senators. Manson didn't sell his music, Osama didn't get to lead the Saudi army in the Gulf War...we could go on and on. Amazing how pathetically small evil is when held up and examined in the light, but oh the havoc it can bring if allowed to grow in the dark.

Communism is such an evil, right now, growing in the dark.

Hannah| 12.2.10 @ 1:01PM

Quin,
I do understand your hesitancy in calling a spade a spade here.
Just like me when I published www.texassaidno.com under a pen name.
You don't want to put a target on your back, or more precisely, upon the back of TAS.

Nevertheless, as demonstrated above, we know he is a communist, (pardon the shorthand), with all that it implies.
We will not compromise with him, regardless of the levers of power at his command. Since it is his mission to destroy us anyway, as individuals, and as a country, we feel that we might as well go down fighting.
It must just chap his ass that we are not unarmed, uneducated peasants. It must chap his ass that we have advocates in Congress with the courage of their convictions, and who recognize him as well.

I have personally whispered a prayer of thanksgiving every single day after the elections last month.
The phrase, "the banality of evil" keeps tickling around in the back 0f my mind. He is finally a banal man, but in my opinion, no less dangerous for all that.

It may be that his sins of "omission" are his ace in the hole. ie: sit and do nothing while the Islamists try to gobble up our country, through terrorism combined with stealth Sharia/multiculturalism.

Our ace in the hole is our faith in God and the contract our forebears signed with our government...way back when the contract reflected it.

He is doing his best to shred that political/social contract we call our "Declaration" and our constitution that "constitutes" the nuts and bolts of that contract.

Running up to the elections, my biggest fear was that enough good Americans would not get off their dead butts and vote. Each and every one of us has a unique "built-in trigger" in the back of our minds, Quin.
That trigger might be pulled by any number of "usurpations" that affect us personally as the "law-fare" being waged against us by our government hits home.....personally.

...For one of us, it might be being forced into bankruptcy by the IRS. For another, it might simply be the forced use of the new dim-bulbs.

For yet another, it might be the banning of "Merry Christmas" from our yard lighting, or the banning of a manger scene.
The list is endless of course and as diverse as we are, but those "triggers" are there in each of us.

One thing I believe is that the pot must come to a boil during the next two years, because that is all he and his comrades can be sure they have left to them.
To switch analogies, the question truly is, which straw will break each back. The communists', (pardon the shorthand), last gasp might be massive election fraud in 2012, but I doubt they can restrain themselves that long.

Also, it's not just him but the combination of him and Pilosi, Reid, Schemer, Rangel, Hoyer, Clyburn, etc that is destroying our country. One can write volumns about him/them, which can only be useful in defining how it relates to the future. The important point is what does this country do going forward into the future? Do we say OH THERE'S NOTHING WE CAN DO TO STOP HIM/THEM, or do we continue with the initial 11/2/10 political sweep in our future elections?????????????

Doctor Right| 12.2.10 @ 10:51AM

Clinton and Obama are both narcissists. Obama, unlike Clinton, is a MALIGNANT narcissist.

Both are bad when granted so much power, but Obama's mental disorder (and it IS a mental disorder, despite the strange, recent announcement from the APA) is much more insidious.

First, Clinton. Don't pretend that Clinton feels real empathy, because he doesn't. He's just a better politician than Obama, and has better insights into human nature. When Clinton pretended to empathize, he was actually engaged in a narcissistic ritual known as "mirroring". In other words, he transforms into what the other person is, or wants him to be, in order to gain their trust. This "mirroring" behavior was most famously expressed in the much ridiculed Clintonian phrase "I feel your pain". Truth be told, he didn't...But because he's an expert at "mirroring", he convinced millions of Americans for 8 long years that he did.

Want another example? I once had a business colleague who worked in Army intelligence. This staunch, Conservative Republican recounted his own personal encounter with Clinton when the President visited the base where my colleague worked. He said that Clinton was "Awesome!", that he was personally engaging, and that when he speaks to you, he makes you feel that you are the ONLY person in the room. That is classic "mirroring" behavior.

Yes, some people who AREN'T narcissists also have this gift. But when stacked against what we already know about Clinton, from his early days as a youth in Arkansas, through high school, college, law school, the Governor's mansion, and afterwards...The pattern is there.

Clinton fits the profile, too. Like Obama, he dealt at a young age with feelings of paternal abandonment that made him deeply insecure and insular. His humble origins only intensified this insecurity, and made him more eager to be perceived as special by anyone and everyone he met. This meant that he learned to bury his own "real" persona in favor of that persona which appealed to those around him - Mirroring. Such behavior inevitably leads to detachment from one's own ego and emotions, and also detachment from the emotions of others. Toss in the need-to-please that often accompanies the children of alcoholic parents, and his Mother's somewhat (by the standards of the day) scandalous personal behavior, which probably caused him deep shame and embarrassment (as well as anger since it conflicted with the image he wanted to portray), and you have a volatile mix...And a misogynistic one, at that.

Just ask Juanita Broderick about Clinton's "empathy", as she recounts his chilling advice: "You'd better put some ice on that".

Now...Obama.

I've probably beaten a dead horse on OBama's narcissism, so I don't mean to be redundant. However, in my humble opinion, Obama's narcissism is far more problematic than Clinton's.

Unlike Clinton, Obama does NOT "aim to please". He does not care whether he is perceived as "likeable" because he's convinced, in all situations, that he's right.

Thus, don't look to him to be introspective - he can't. And I mean that quite literally. Introspection implies a willingness to reconsider one's position, and Obama has amply demonstrated that's not how he rolls.

Barack Obama may be the most mentally damaged man to ever serve in the White House, and I do not say that with any sense of glee, or jest. I think that aside from his narcissism, which prevents him from feeling ANY empathy whatsoever, he also suffers from extreme delusions of grandeur. Conservatives and critics often joke that he thinks he's "God's gift" to mankind, but that judgment may not be too far from the truth. He told Harry Reid "I have a gift, Harry", and he wasn't joking.

He's a very, very dangerous man to have in the White House. In fact, he is the archetype of the kind o man that the Founders often warned us about, and designed the Constitution to prevent.

The next two years may not only be rocky, they may be literally perilous. Obama will NOT yield from his course of "reinventing America". While that may be to our advantage politically, it could be extremely dangerous for the country.

Obama IS dangerous. I take him extremely serious as such, and like Ken (Old Tex) said in his post above, my biggest fear is that not enough of us will get out and vote.. and I will say vote Republican.. or else we will have Obama II.

I used to say this and it is the truth:

Liberalism=Socialism=Communism=Satanism.

This is spiritual warfare.

"For we are not contending against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spiritual hosts of wickedness in the Heavenly places." Eph. 6:12.

And we're the warriors.

Bob Grant| 12.2.10 @ 12:15PM

And if you were really a positive/optimistic soul you'd be celebrating what Sarah Palin is and what she stands for.. everything good and right and true about the U.S.A.!

idalily| 12.2.10 @ 4:23PM

I agree, Bob. The thing is, who is (a) staunchly conservative (b) tough, AND (c) electable? Sarah is (a) and (b), but IMO she is not (c) and that is our problem.

Bob Grant| 12.2.10 @ 4:32PM

It's a tough one.

I agree with the Noonan's and Charen's when they say people will look for someone who is sober and competent. I would add a third characteristic > effective!

The only one who I think fits these criteria is Haley Barbour but he has his own special set of obstacles which probably keep him from being (c) electable.

I'll keep looking.

idalily| 12.2.10 @ 5:04PM

I like Barbour, but like Sarah, I don't think he's electable (though for very different reasons). The best hope I see is Mitch Daniels. I wish Rubio had more experience. I just don't know at this point.

Bob Grant| 12.2.10 @ 12:09PM

Very nice.

If you look at his history you will discover the people surrounding him continually fed his narcissism. From his grandparents, to various mentors, his selection as Editor of Harvard Law Review, the curious details of his first book deal, the odd chain-reaction of events that led to his U.S. Senate election victory, the mainstream media's single-minded determination to have him elected president, and his unearned Nobel Peace Price award.

In his mind he's king of the world and no one is going to stop him!

Doctor Right| 12.2.10 @ 3:16PM

Bob:

You have actually landed on a very critical point concerning narcissism.

Despite their seeming arrogance, narcissists are actually very insecure, and suffer from extremely low self-esteem.

To compensate, they surround themselves with psychological yes-men who play the role of "feeding" what's known as their narcissistic "supply". These enablers prop-up the narcissists self-esteem, and support his/her ideal self image.

To the narcissist, that is the ONLY reason to include someone in their inner circle. Once someone ceases to "feed" the narcissists supply, they are immediately and unceremoniously jettisoned. One day, and enabler may be a close associate; the next day, he/she may be completely cut-off.

Thus, Obama's "supply" was constantly "fed" by those around him because if it had not been, they would have not been around.

This is a man who feels absolutely entitled to his current position, and absolutely beyond criticism, which is something a narcissist CANNOT TOLERATE. Criticism and ridicule have very adverse effects on the narcissistic personality...

...Which is why, in my personal opinion, the GOP should be criticizing and ridiculing Obama at EVERY opportunity.

Bob Grant| 12.2.10 @ 4:54PM

In other words the GOP needs to publicly expose his other side? They seemed to have come close several times. He ALMOST lost it during the healthcare summit.

I completely agree that the public will not be impressed at all with his "other side" and his personal favorability ratings will suffer as a result.

The Big E| 12.2.10 @ 12:27PM

Your insights into Bill Clinton's personality are illuminating, and in my opinion, right on the money. But I must respectfully disagree with you about Obama.

Frankly, I believe that when we try to explain Obama in terms of psychology, what we are really doing is denying the reality of Obama to ourselves, probably because that reality is simply too horrible to accept.

Obama's disease is not mental or emotional - it is spiritual. He may well suffer from any number of psychological quirks or ailments, but those are merely symptoms of the underlying corruption, not the corruption itself. Obama's disease is not Narcissistic Personality Disorder, it goes by another name. Evil. And we should call it what it is.

A narcissist thinks always and only about himself, and how he appears to others. A narcissist may sincerely believe that he or she is smarter than everyone else, and may engage in actions which are harmful to others because he or she believes those actions make him look good or to keep him from looking bad. But a narcissist does not set out to CONTROL and DOMINATE the lives and thoughts of millions of people he does not even know. Josef Stalin did not murder millions of people because he thought it would make him look good, neither did Mao. They murdered to maintain absolute and total POWER over the populations they ruled. They didn't care if they were liked, or if they looked good in other people's eyes. They wanted to be feared, and because of that fear, obeyed.

Barack Obama wants to destroy this Country as it has been - he calls it "fundamental change" - but in truth, his desire is to leave our liberty and freedoms in ruins. He wants to control the lives and thoughts of all of us, not because he wants people to like him, but because he wants to have absolute and total POWER over us all. Those are not the goals of a narcissist. Those are the goals of an evil, power-mad, would-be tyrant. The sooner we stop denying the horror that is right in front of our faces and begin accepting that yes, this country has elected a potential butcher to its highest office, the better off we'll be, and the more effectively we'll be able to deal with him.

People with Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD) do not and cannot empathize with others. It is this fact that make them DANGEROUS, because it allows them to do whatever the hell they want without regard to how detrimental their policies or actions affect ordinary people; they simply do not care. What matters to NPDs is themselves, their ego.
Obama, like all Marxist Leninists is DANGEROUS.

Jim D| 12.2.10 @ 11:39AM

Hey, everybody. We’re the United States of America. Not a corrupt, weak Weimar Republic standing on centuries of militarism and conformity, not collectivist, Communist China, built upon anciently fragmented dynasties.

We are unique. We are built upon the greatest principles of social, economic and political behavior in world history – by far! We will overcome Dear Leader and his cohorts of destruction. And we will overcome him with positive action by dedicating our lives, through volunteering as much of our “free” time as is equal to our perception of the danger he and his like-minded socialists represent.

We will defeat him and his corrupt beliefs by giving of ourselves through political activism to defend our freedoms that were bequeathed to us by the blood and treasure of our ancestors. Now is not the time for lashing out in frustration but for uniting in opposition.

I humbly suggest that each of us dedicate ourselves to ending this scourge through the miracle of our democratic institutions. If we do so in large enough numbers in the end not only will we bury the philosophy of these socialist purveyors, but we can pull most Americans along with us to re-invigorate our republic on the proven solid principles of freedom, self-reliance, compassion and empathy.

Now is the time to get involved and STAY involved to beat back this threat once and for all.

Nice comments, Jim, but I am sorry to say they sound more like whistling past the graveyard than a genuinely rousing defense.

Last year, after Rush Limbaugh gave a blow by blow of how nationalized health care has failed miserably in every country which enacted it, a leftist caller said, "Well, that's everyone else. We're the greatest country in the world. It will work here." I wanted to scream that we are the greatest country in the world because we have not bought into such dunderheaded schemes. There is no magical fairy dust which will always make everything turn out all right for us.

Study the European critics of our founding - and even that great admirer, Alexis de Tocqueville. Democracy is the most volatile and unstable form of government ever devised. The genius of the founders was that they intertwined the benefits of liberty with stabilizing elements that would prevent it from flying apart. Sadly, over the last century, we have slowly - and in the last 50 years, much more rapidly - been tossing the stabilizing elements out.

You want a real study in terror? Study the history of Democracies. They follow almost an identical pattern in their sudden, sharp decline. Many of the symptoms were very evident 20 years ago. Now, the symptoms match those of democracy on the very edge of collapse. I fear the question is no longer whether we can keep our democracy, but whether we will be able to get it back after having squandered it.

Next year has a good chance of being the most terrifying year in the history of the republic if Obama is half as authoritarian and contemptuous of law as I think he is.

Doc| 12.2.10 @ 11:50AM

I agree with everything that has been stated but I still have one serious concern-60 % of the women and 8O % of the liberal Jews voted for Obama. I have this uneasy feeling that women, liberal Jews and our youth will still vote for this man in 2012. When will they ever learn. Obamacare, for example, is a debacle that will damage our health care system-just look at Massachusetts.

this

MikeD| 12.2.10 @ 5:34PM

I've always been confused by the supposed smarter, and more wealthy American Jews. During my time in Israel my Israeli friends constantly complained about how stupid their American 'bretheren' were by supporting Democrats since the Dems virtually always hate Israel. It's the same with American Blacks. They ALWAYS vote Democrat, like 90% plus, and all the Dems have done is destroy their families, institutionalize welfare, make Black fathers irellevant, and established policies that result in unemployment rates significantly higher than Whites. And, if ANY American Black EVER really knew what L.B.J. said while signing the Civil Rights Act of 1964 they'd call me a liar. Look it up. (To repeat my statement from the other day, he called them the "N" word!)

Occam's Tool| 12.2.10 @ 6:54PM

I've always been surprised by my brethren voting Liberal. The large percentage of academics among us may account for this. On the other hand, both my patrents and my sister are Liberals, and none of them are academics, and I have the highest degree and the most education in my immediate family. But, Mr. D, you are right on this, and it mystifies me. The days of the Scoop Jackson Democrat are closing fast---only Lieberman comes to mind on this issue today.

RCV| 12.2.10 @ 11:45PM

I seriously doubt that, since Dr. King, Roy Wilkens, James Foreman and a dozen other civil rights leaders were standing around him as he signed it.

Deborah D | 12.3.10 @ 6:46AM

From Dick Morris:

"In one of the most important findings in the post-election polls, the McLaughlin and Associates polling firm has found that men and women both voted for Republican candidates in the 2010 midterm elections.

"Pollster John McLaughlin noted that 'The Republican candidates for Congress had a 12-point advantage among men [53-41] and a 7-point advantage among women [50-43].' This finding is historic.

"The Republicans won married women by 57-38, suburban women by 55-38, and independent women by 51-40. Democrats maintained reduced margins among single women, poor women, and minority group women."

This indicates to me that women (Moms!) have awakened to what the future holds for their children in Obama/Democrats' America. Let's keep them awake!

The comments on this article are as usual well thought out and interesting. If you get a chance take a look at Dinesh D'Souza's latest book "The Roots of Obama's Rage". Yes Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe was bloodless at first, but several years later after rigged kangeroo election and self appointment of dictator for life.....Well bloodless no more. His idea of just being fair has ruined what was once a prosperous country, a country that was the breadbasket of Africa. Obumba is following his path. After 2 years of cramming, lying, pushing health care down the peoples throats, turning a blind eye to opposition polls by the people, a deaf ear to the Republicans, now he wants to sit down to talk? The only way our country to get right again is to bottom out... When the Bible (not quran) hugging, gun tote'n people in his nightly nightmares wake up and decide enough already, and demand impeachment of him and his Mugabe like gooms Reed and pisole. Ohh by the way stock up on can goods.

Destroying lives is evil. He is a psychopath, the same way Ted Bundy, Stalin, Hiter, Mao were. No different. You are being too kind. Read Malignant Narcissist. Obama has ice water running through his veins. If he could kill his opponents and get away with it he would. Right now I think it's 50/50 anyone would stop him. They'd talk about had bad it is, and let him continue on his path of destruction. If people would quit tip toeing around the fact that he is evil, he might be stopped.

Tom Anderson | 12.2.10 @ 12:24PM

I thought the article was pretty insightful about Obama. I just have to laugh, however, in reading so many of the comments that simply ignore the role of George W. Bush in advancing the cause of Leviathan. Granted, Quinn brings up Clinton, but his focus in on Obama. Yet on and on, the comments spew their disdain and hatred for Clinton, a president, who, with a conservative Republican Congress, gave us some of the best, most limited government we've had for decades.

George Bush wanted to transform the world by using Leviathan to advance "freedom" not understanding how self-contradictory and inconsistent it is to create a Leviathan in order to transform the world. Thus we got the Second Iraq War.

GWB created the TSA. He's the president who passed the bank bailouts. He's the president who increased spending and vastly expanded the scope and power of the federal government.

Yet one hears not a peep of criticism. Bush was not a conservative. Advancing the unholy alliance between religion and conservativism, Bush demonstrated that philosophies of government have a moral foundation and when that foundation is based on the religious morality of altruism, of the view of man that claims his life has worth only when sacrificed for the benefit of others, then what do you expect?

Obama simply takes Bush and the religious at their word. He argues that we are all our brother's keeper. That's what altruism boils down to in practice, and that is what the Left believes. Everyone should take care of everyone else.

If you wish to advance the cause of true conservatism, i.e. limited government, protection of individual rights, then religion must not be allowed to corrupt the conservative message and the conservative goal of limiting government to the protection of individual rights, as stated in our Declaration of Independence.

Altruism is fundamentally incompatible with capitalism and with any governing philosophy whose goal is the protection of individual rights. Such a philosophy must be based on the moral premise that man has a right to live his life for his own sake, and not for the sake of others. He is an end in himself, morally, and not merely a means to the satisfaction of other men's desires, goals and purposes, no matter how "noble."

The justification is always that someone, somewhere, might possibly be offended or feel uncomfortable living in the midst of a largely Christian society, so all must yield to the fragile sensibilities of the few. The ultimate goal of the anti-religious elites is to transform America into a completely secular nation, a nation that is legally and culturally biased against Christianity." — Ron Paul

This war is dangerous to America because it’s based, not on gender equality, as Mr. Giuliani suggested, or any other kind of freedom, but simply because of what we do in the Islamic World – because ‘we’re over there,’ basically, as Mr. Paul said in the debate.”

Scheuer also agreed with Dr. Paul’s statement in the debate that the war in Iraq was a diversion from capturing or killing Osama bin Laden and that bin Laden was “delighted” that the U.S. is occupying Iraq as it has become a training ground and recruiting tool for new jihadists joining the movement."

Ronald Reagan On Defense Waste:

" During my 1980 campaign, I called federal waste and fraud a national scandal. We knew we could never rebuild America's strength without first controlling the exploding cost of defense programs, and we're doing it. When we took office in 1981, costs had been escalating at an annual rate of 14 percent. Then we began our reforms. And in the last two years, cost increases have fallen to less than 1 percent. We've made huge savings. Each F-18 fighter costs nearly $4 million less today than in 1981. One of our air-to-air missiles costs barely half as much.

Getting control of the defense bureaucracy is no small task. Each year the Defense Department signs hundreds of thousands of contracts. So yes, a horror story will sometimes turn up despite our best efforts. That's why we appointed the first Inspector General in the history of the Defense Department. And virtually every case of fraud or abuse has been uncovered by our Defense Department, our Inspector General. Secretary Weinberger should be praised, not pilloried, for cleaning the skeletons out of the closet. As for those few who have cheated taxpayers or have swindled our Armed Forces with faulty equipment, they are thieves stealing from the arsenal of democracy, and they will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law."

It seems like we've fallen into his trap. Why is it off base? Today, when the gentleman indicated that he did it because of the bombing, you know what the administration said? They dismissed it. Greetings Quin!

Great article, and well spoken, IMNSHO. (That's in my not so humble opinion for those of you in Liberal Land).

Of course we aren't hateful, but we do hate the evil practice of Leftist Socialism, and I know that's what you're getting at. Some say we are hateful for speaking the plain truth because we dare to speak it, but that's a lie. The Bible says to:

"Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it." Ps. 34:14.

How to depart from evil? Speak the truth, call an ace an ace~ which you've done.. seek peace? What's God's definition of peace? It's amazing doing a word study in the Bible as to what God considers peace. A lot of times it's not quite what we think it is. For sure it isn't anything to do with "being nice" or speaking softly.. wars are not won by wimps.

Which is why the Republicans lose way more than they should be losing.. till now that is. Why? Because we the people have had enough!

Energy prices will necessarily skyrocket as expensive solar and wind power are implemented while traditional energy sources are stifled(offshore drilling moratorium).

Food prices will increase as more crops are used to feed the new bio-fuel standards.

Health-care costs will increase dramatically as 30 million new people are added because of Obamacare, many of whom cannot pay their own way. Guess who gets to pay? Hint: It's not the Federal government.

Obama has increased the debt during his presidency more than all prior debt combined. The bill will eventually come due, and it will be a massive shock to the economy.

Let's assume that no new taxes come down the pike. All other costs will increase dramatically, further suppressing the economy as businesses flee the country. No matter how I look at it , Obama is an economic disaster, and I think that it's intentional.

jharp| 12.2.10 @ 2:50PM

Welcome to our newest PuffHo troll. Mr Jharp, you are a perfect example of what a certain R. W. Reagan said about leftists: "It's not that liberals are ignorant. It's just that they know so much that isn't so.".

The reality is that Obama and his minions have RAISED taxes on everyone who actually PAYS taxes. He also seeks to raise taxes on all of us in myriad additional ways. In addition, his 1.5 TRILLION dollar deficit last year and the 1.4 TRILLION dollar deficit this year has caused a 15% devaluation of the dollar within the last 18 months. So that is an across the board tax increase on everyone in America, and it hits the poor especially hard.

The proposed wage freeze on some federal workers would not amount to more than a drop in the bucket as far as reining in spending. It would equal, at most, about two percent of spending.

You could always purchase a Cadillac health plan in the individual market. And prior to Obamacare, the private sector was coming out wiht more and more health policies that covered pre-existing conditions, and were affordably priced. And it has been the case for decades now, by law, that no health insurance company could cancel an in-force policy because the insured got sick. The idea that they could do so is a ridiculous and childish lie.

What I object to is people like you who repeat the talking points (or blatant lies) of the left without actually having a clue what you are talking about. God forbid that you would ever crack some books and search out the truth for yourself, regardless where that truth would lead you. You come on here and claim we are all stupid, and yet you yourself have NEVER researched any of these issues on your own. Until you do, you have no right to call anybody else stupid.

By the way, this particular "ignorant redneck" has an advanced degree, is a retired military officer, and has earned his living for the last several decades as a financial advisor. I would say I am rather rather more educated than you, and am an order of magnitude more knowledgable about the nuts and bolts of the aforementioned issues than you are.

George True| 12.2.10 @ 2:53PM

Above commentary was submitted by George True, and was directed TO jharp. I have no idea how his username ended up at the head of my comments.

jharp| 12.2.10 @ 3:03PM

George True

"The reality is that Obama and his minions have RAISED taxes on everyone who actually PAYS taxes."

You are a liar. Obama cut taxes. For 95% of us.

It's called "Making Work Pay Tax Credits". $400 for individuals and $800 for couples.

But you'd actually have to file a tax return to know that.

Now go get a job. Loser. And quit yer whining.

Quin| 12.2.10 @ 3:28PM

You really are a nasty, name-calling person, aren't you? You are wrong, too. Calling something a tax cut doesn't make it a tax cut. Sending money, via a "refundable tax credit," to people who don't even pay taxes, is not a tax cut, it's an expenditure. How about if I give you a piece of mud and call it chocolate? That still wouldn't make it chocolate -- and Obama's policies are not tax cuts. Period.

jharp| 12.2.10 @ 3:47PM

"Calling something a tax cut doesn't make it a tax cut. Sending money, via a "refundable tax credit," to people who don't even pay taxes, is not a tax cut"

You are an idiot.

Cutting taxes $400 for individuals and $800 for couples is a tax cut.

No one got sent any money you imbecile. If you didn't pay any taxes you didn't get any tax cuts. And how you idiots can think someone got a tax cut that paid no taxes befuddles my mind.

Are you teabaggers really that stupid?

George True| 12.2.10 @ 3:55PM

As Quin said, you really are a nasty little name-calling piece of work. I'll bet you convince a lot of people with that type of debating prowess.

By the way, do you eat with that mouth? For your sake I hope not.

idalily| 12.2.10 @ 4:41PM

Personally, I think someone who says that me getting a tax credit is a tax cut even if I don't pay taxes, needs to go to school and take a class in basic bookkeeping.

jharp| 12.2.10 @ 4:55PM

"I think someone who says that me getting a tax credit is a tax cut even if I don't pay taxes, needs to go to school and take a class in basic bookkeeping"

You don't get a tax credit if you don't pay any taxes you dumb*ss.

And I have an accounting degree from a Big Ten University.

It is you that needs to go to school son.

idalily| 12.2.10 @ 5:11PM

The Big Ten part explains a lot. So...since 50% of the American people don't pay taxes, how is the tax credit enjoyed by 95% of the people? Never mind. You know what, never mind. This is like shooting fish in a barrel. I'm bored. Feeding the insulting, name-calling trolls has lost its fleeting charm. We're done.

idalily| 12.2.10 @ 5:14PM

Oh, one more little thing. I'm not your son, or anyone else's for that matter. Being you're so smart and all, it might behoove you to drop the insults long enough to read posters' names before you make assumptions. Ida and Lily usually mean a GIRL.

jharp| 12.2.10 @ 5:26PM

"So...since 50% of the American people don't pay taxes"

You are an idiot. Care to try to substantiate this lie?

Alaskan| 12.2.10 @ 9:00PM

The only way you have an accounting degree from any collegen is if you stole the plaque from someone's room when you were cleaning it. You know as much about taxes and economics as Charlie Rangel and Tim Geithner. All you know how to do is name-calling, keep it up, it shows how left wing nuts like you "think" and "talk."

Quin| 12.3.10 @ 8:41AM

yes, you do. That's how the Obama tax giveaway works. Literally. That is how he claims that 95% of the people get a tax cut when only about 60% of Americans actually pay income taxes. Check your facts.

Occam's Tool| 12.2.10 @ 7:08PM

He's about to raise 'em, Mouthorgan. No problem for me what the Republicans do, because, unlike you, I am a Mensan, not a moron. "Your mind is to mine as an amoeba's."

Oh, and I have a job, and make more than you. Stop whingeing. I'm worth it.

jharp| 12.2.10 @ 3:06PM

"By the way, this particular "ignorant redneck" has an advanced degree, is a retired military officer"

I missed that. Hmmmm.

So how is your government paid for health care working out?

Typical teabagging redneck loser. Sucking off the government teat and lying about ObamaCare and Obama's tax cuts.

George True| 12.2.10 @ 3:24PM

My, my, we do seem to have a problem with calling people names, don't we? You have no argument, sir. If you did, you would be articulating it. Instead, you go right to personal attacks. When you do that, you have just lost the debate. You are truly pitiful.

jharp| 12.2.10 @ 3:36PM

"You have no argument,sir."

I'm not arguing anything you idiot.

I'm simply pointing out that you are a typical ignorant teabagging hypocrite. Sucking off the government teat for YOUR health insurance and then condemning the governement for daring to make a law so everyone else can buy private health insurance.

God you people are stupid.

gtrue1@cox.net| 12.2.10 @ 3:49PM

"God you people are stupid"seems to be the sum total of your argument. Is that all you got?

Since getting out of the military some 30 years ago, I have always bought my own health imsurance. I have sold health insurance (among other insurance and financial products) for 22 years now. I know orders of magnitude more about how health insurance works than you do.

jharp| 12.2.10 @ 4:17PM

gtrue1@cox.net

"By the way, this particular "ignorant redneck" has an advanced degree, is a retired military officer"

"Since getting out of the military some 30 years ago"

You are also a horrible liar.

Let's see. Joined the military at age 18. Retire after 20 years and this was 30 years ago.

That'd make you 68. Jackass.

So you are sucking the taxpayer teat for Medicare. And not buying your own health insurance.

Liar. And dumb*ss.

2) Hussein has already racked up 3 trillion

4) A one-time tax rebate is not really a tax cut

5) Increasing government employment 10%, raising the government employment budget 30%, and then claiming a pay 'freeze' is both fraudulent and dishonest

6) Hussein is for gun rights like he was for the Marriage Act on the campaign trail, and is for tax cuts; his actions betray the truth

7) Congress is exempt from Husseincare

9) Anyone with a modicum of common sense can see the damage Hussein has done

5) It is too stupid to address, adding 10% to the government payroll in an economic slump (created by liberals in the first place); increasing any government budget 30% in these conditions is criminally negligent (but too stupid to address), but to then claim a 'freeze' is not brazenly dishonest, it is in reality too stupid to address???

12) It is despicable conservatives have not been more adamant in their actions to overturn what even a genius like you has to admit is a blatant violation of the Constitution, but that automatically means the liberal position is superior??? Non sequiters are a sign of intelligence?

Yes. By $125 billion.

Try the non partisan Congressional Budget Office.

http://www.cbo.gov/

"CBO estimates that the federal budget deficit was about $1.3 trillion in fiscal year 2010, $125 billion less than the shortfall recorded in 2009."

And because I am positive that you are too stupid to know this, 2009 is Bush's baby. That's how our government works.

God you people are stupid.

skip| 12.2.10 @ 8:58PM

non partisan CBO?

The CBO was set up by congress as a budgetary tool (since you too are a tool I won't explain that term). The CBO is tasked by congress with examining the budget when provided by congress with various assumptions. If congress says, for example, that the 100 million tons of space dust that accumulates on earth daily has a value of $5 per ton, then how much can congress spend annually on homosexual teabagging education programs, the only thing the CBO can do is assume that 500 million dollars a day are available to congress from the space dust.

Not only is the CBO not non-partisan, since either Dumocrats or Repubs are in control and whoever is in the majority gets to set the parameters, but the CBO is in fact non-reality. It is constrained by its role as a tool available for and subject to congress and any assumption made by congress.

Anyone who took any high school civics class should know this.

When I say you are wholly lacking in intelligence and wholly lacking in honesty, another way to put it is that you are a stupid liar.

Hey, sparky! Nothing you say is actually true. You can claim it is all you want to, but that doesn't make it so. And you can engage in all the infantile name-calling you want, but that still doesn't make any of your rantings true.

I see a lot of projection going on with your rantings. You know, projecting onto others the very shortcomings that you yourself are afflicted with.

And you are also very childish in your rantings and ravings and name-calling. It is truly amazing that you have such a high opinion of yourself while at the same time thinking that nobody could possibly have a legitimate disagreement with any part of the leftist agenda. In that regard you are much like your messiah Obama.

Oh, and name calling is the last refuge of those who have no ammo in their debating arsenal. The people who post here may not agree with you, but they are not stupid. In fact, from what I can see, the fact that they disagree with you makes them smart. I think we're done.

Income taxes. And if you didn't pay any income taxes your payroll taxes were cut.

BTW, 168 republicans voted against cutting taxes today.

idalily| 12.2.10 @ 5:21PM

Ad hominem arguments usually aren't regarded as true arguments, JHarp. For example: (although I AM a Mensan)

"I am a Mensan, and you are a moron. Your mind is to mine as an amoeba's."

Now, while this is true, it does not prove an argument. Payroll taxes are Regressive taxes that affect everyone. Income taxes are Progressive taxes. Have you ever looked at your paycheck and done the numbers, or do they pay you in bananas, as befits the performing Monkey in the zoo? (Now that last was a factual argument and an ad hominem, combined. Go to the anti-idiotarian Rottweiler site, and review types of arguments. Kastellos| 12.2.10 @ 1:53PM

It's great to someone with straight-thinking on this thread. Those who claim Obama is a communist or socialist have no idea what a socialist or communist is. Socialism is the ownership and control of all factors of production and services are in the hands of the people. Communism is the achievement of total socialism but where the Party replaces the people.

Obama is as far from either of these as was Reagan. Those that attack his so-called income re-distribution are also idiots. Yes, since 1980 there has been a re-distribution, but it has been from the poor and middle class to the rich. In 1980 the top 1% controlled about 9% of the nations wealth and income. By 2009 that same 1% controlled 24% of the income. The bottom 90% in 1980 had 65% of the income, now they have 53%.

Obamacare. The working poor had no health care. It was not the welfare mothers (they have Medicade), rather it was the working poor and the young who were underemployed (working at McDonalds because the Republicans destroyed the economy). The right says the government should not require health care insurance. Yet every state (including Alaska, Kentucky and Minnesota where ignorant people such as Palin, McConnell and Bachman reside) require auto insurance. Why - for the public good. That is all that Obamacare is seeking: Insurance to better the public good. If it is not perfect, then real statesmen would say let's give it time to see what is wrong with it and then fix it, while ignoramuses say Repeal.

The right is pathetic. The only thing worse is the general stupidity of so many Americans (e.g. 25% still believe Obama is a Muslim, 20% believe he was born in Nigeria, etc.)

Oldefarte| 12.2.10 @ 2:42PM

You ignoramous! How can wealth be redistributed from the poor and middle class to the rich, when the former groups HAVE NO INCOME TO BEGIN WITH, DUMBARS? Wealth is gained by individuals who work hard in school, become educated and then use their education to earn income/assets [does Bill Gates, Donald Trump, Warren Buffett, etc ring a bell?]. The poor are POOR and INDIGENT because they do no use the free public educational system to learn enough to earn high incomes [and instead depend upon the government/taxpayers for their financial support]. The term middle class has been misused by these domestic terrorists Democrats for propaganda purposes; and represent educated people who work for others [corporations/small businesses], earn decent incomes and support themselves. The Democrats constituents are not middle class, but instead the poor, indigent welfare dependent lower class. What a fool your are!!!!!!!!!!

If you want your posts to stand on their own, then why keep saying you are CEO of two of the largest companies in the world? and why now brag about your wife's job?
don't really care, but since you brought it up, thought i would ask, ok tex? somewhat pompous of you to believe i would be intimidated by your companies, or i am two stupid to be intimidated. there are more explanations, such as 1)congratulations,2) who cares,3) why did your bring it up,4) what are you afraid of by not disclosing ? i could think of more if i cared more.

Occam's Tool| 12.2.10 @ 7:43PM

Chris, I am not Ken. I know who he is. There are 342,000 hits on him under his real name on Bing. I don't know your name, Chris, and you don't know mine. I'd like to keep it that way because I worry about a guy who types all lower case (grin).

Ken, I hope I defended you without breaching data. I think I did.

By the way, Chris, I recognized the companies. Sorry. Oh, and I am a Mensan, and you are not. "Your mind is to mine as an amoeba's."

One day, if I'm really, really, really lucky, a guy like MikeD will say something 1/1 millionth as nice about me as he does about Ken. That's about the right ratio, I think, and it would thrill me.

Occam's Tool| 12.2.10 @ 7:51PM

Chris,

Ken's wife runs a company that does more good in one day than you will do in your entire, snivelling life. As an MD I stand in awe of it, as it helps the suffering on an industrial scale. And no, it is not the Red Cross. (What do you think, Ken? Absolutely true, every word, and no way to identify it from the description. Pretty good, eh?)

Occam's Tool| 12.2.10 @ 8:05PM

Oh, and by the way, Chris, just so you have an idea of the practice I work in, I treat indigent psychotics in a catchment area that covers 3 native reservations and where the winter temps can get down to 30 below. Previous to this, I worked with the Maori in New Zealand, also working with the indigent. I have not worked for a for profit company since 2000. Nonetheless, I'm a Conservative (I have worked for enough governments to know that the answer to America's care problems is LESS government, not more, and that our healthcare payment system is broken because of government intervention. Paradoxically, my current situation offers me more freedom, but the practice model is similar to private practice.) and I stand in awe of Ken's work. I'm sure I do more to help people and save lives in a single day than you do in a year, Chris, and I stand in awe of Ken's work. Got it?

MikeD| 12.2.10 @ 5:48PM

Ken (OldTexican)

You are right up there with "Booger". I love reading your posts. It's great fun reading the drivel these inferior morons try to post. Evidently they have no facts at their disposal, so they think higher volume makes up for complete ignorance. Every time these cretins touch their keyboard they validate every negative attitude and stereotype about the "foam sputtering, cursing, leg crawling, mind numb Liberals".

Ken, Keep it up. My background is much the same; but my difference is that I can no longer smack these morons in the face to shut them up. Oh, to have working limbs... was it worth it to defend these idiots?

SEMPER FI

Occam's Tool| 12.2.10 @ 7:26PM

Mr. D, I hope you see this.

Yes, it was worth it from my perspective. I'm fat and physically lazy, and probably a moron compared to you in many ways. However, I deeply appreciate the pain and sacrifice that you underwent to save my sweaty fat ass. I can't say Semper Fi because I did not earn the right, but G-d Bless you very much, and thank you.

Ken, you know what I think of you. Both you guys, Merry Christmas, and thanks for all you do.

Occam's Razor,

First, never be self depricating, especially on this kind of forum. I'd venture that very few of the louder mouths here have any idea what it means. Second, we of similar minds must all stick together. I enjoy your posts and appreciate your intellect and wit, as sharp as Occam's Razor. Stay safe and keep the fight. We live in dangerous times.

MikeD| 12.2.10 @ 6:08PM

Christopher,

Youj appear to be new here. I guarantee you that you'd know the companies if he told you, but why should he? Frankly, your posts confirm the fact that you have probably never done a damned thing except whine about what's unfair.

I served in the military, earned two degrees (without affirmative action), hold several patents, managed a multi-BILLION dollar company, and I laugh at you people who betray your ignorance with every word. I've been married to the same classy lady for 45 years and raised two kids who are now leaders in their communities.

Go back under your bed. If I make a typo, it may be because my hands do not function.

Now, what have YOU done with YOUR LIFE?

SEMPER FI (Do you even know what this means?)

Occam's Tool| 12.2.10 @ 7:19PM

Ken, you also write great books. And you are a lovely man, sir.

The secret for doing well in America is simple: work hard and smart, and take care of your people, and they will give you their best effort.

Christopher| 12.2.10 @ 9:11PM

wow, occam and mike, you guys have a lot of time on your hand. all this overheated nonsense for asking the name of the company? hit a raw nerve? are you three all the same person? no wonder the liberals call you guys morons, and i am not a liberal. but to react the way you guy(s) did is unbelievable, if you are a doctor i feel sorry for the patients. can you explain why you guy(s) reacted this way to a simple question, what is the name of the company? you make the liberals sound sane.

Christophere| 12.2.10 @ 10:18PM

Hey Mike/Occam/Ken?
the issue here is obama's competence. why do you feel the need to state your occupations, your military service, and what wonderful person(s) you are? a true conservative, and especially a Marine, would not start attacking someone he does not know, and brag about income and occupations. Frankly, I do not believe you are a Marine or a true conservative. No class and no manners.
the only post of mine is:christopher| 12.2.10 @ 7:52AM

Mojo Risin| 12.2.10 @ 1:56PM

Boehner calls it "chicken crap."

There needs to be a march on the white house and the leftist leaders who are directing the brain dead ideology that's driving this train off the tracks. An entity of sort, (Military) needs to take charge and remove the people who are destroying 233 years of freedom.

Obonehead was elected, along with congress, but that doesn't give them Carte Blanche on the implementation of destructive policy, the appointment of Czars wanting to influence our freedoms by Fiat. Oh say, almost literally: My ass itches and therefore I think I'll run FOX News out of business, along with the internet. Remember there's a bum-load of those Czars out there and redistributive justice is long overdue... Obonehead be the man!!!

MikeD| 12.2.10 @ 9:08PM

I take issue with obama's legality; not just because he has hidden his past from the people; but also because nobody can be certain he actually did get enough votes to win the election of 2008. The Democrats have proven time and time again that they will do ANYTHING, and stoop to whatever depths necessary, to steal, snatch, or grab any election. If the vote is EVER close, it is ALWAYS the democrats who magically discover just enough votes to win.

Once any country loses confidence in the truth of the electoral process, tyranny and dictatorship follow closely behind. See: Washington State, Minnesota Senate, Nevada Senate, etc...ad nauseum. Trust (?) but verify. Frankly, none of us should EVER trust a thing any democrat says unless it is a concession speech, and not always then. (See Algore 2000) Can anybody even imagine what 4 or 8 years of a Gore administration would have done? He's already been proven a liar and a thief, wrapped in a coat of pure hypocricy. (See 'globull warming' scam) Just where did ole Al get ALL THAT MONEY?

Mojo Risin| 12.3.10 @ 12:23PM

Funny how that happens. Has a republican ever won a close/contested, recount election---NO!!! Does the continual/ubiquitous finding of votes during a contested election by democrats, even remotely arouse suspicion, apparently not... All those valid votes found in the trunks of cars, floating in toilet tanks, the nearest dumpster, over at Vinny's place, or was it Rocco's Social Club???

james| 12.2.10 @ 2:30PM

It's worthwhile to say all this, and to repeat it, but it all boils down to a very simple thing, which also bears endless repeating: Barack Obama is a communist radical, the inevitable product and outcome of the Sixties' freaks' Long March Through the Institutions. You can flesh it out and use words and phrases that help explain things, but we should never use two words when one will do.
Obama hates America because that is how he was raised, trained and socialized. He has never - and I mean never once - been close to a single person who isn't or wasn't also a communist, whether his own parents, Frank Davis, Bill Ayers, Donald Berwick or Van Jones.
Dinesh D'Souza has it wrong and so does anyone else who seeks "penumbras" in this man's character. Only the terminally gullible have ever found him slick, and only the moronic ever believed him to be smart. He's an existential threat to America and he needs to be penned in for the next two years and then thrown out of office with two-thirds of the vote.
And for God's sake people, I'm begging you, don't let Mitt Romney anwwhere near the Oval. He will never undo this. Any of it.

idalily| 12.2.10 @ 4:47PM

True that. Every word.

Bunkerville | 12.2.10 @ 2:40PM

Where hate is an extreme word, I loath this President, unlike any other , like my worst enemy. He is arrogant, condescending, detached from his constituents, inexperienced, and despite what his education reveals, he is the dumbest President in modern times. An ideologue that couldn't run a lemonade stand that the American people elected just because they wanted change. Well guess what America, you deserve what you got because you ignored the warnings and elected a left wing pragmatist. Now its time to put this guy in his place and vote him out of office in 2012 before it's too late.

idalily| 12.2.10 @ 4:51PM

I have worked all my life, saved, made mostly wise choices, taken judicious risks, and busted my ass. What makes you think you are allowed to take what I have earned? You're not entitled to any of it. Not to one thin dime. And there is NOTHING, absolutely NOTHING filthy about simply being rich. What is wrong is theft. And that is what Communism is, a way to justify theft.

George True| 12.2.10 @ 8:28PM

Idalily, it goes beyond a desire to steal the income and assets that others have built up over a lifetime of hard work. It is a spiritual sickness based on the sin of covetousness. Theirs is a doctrine and ideology that cultivates and encourages covetousness in its devotees.

Steve A| 12.2.10 @ 3:06PM

Jon, Your jealousy is oozing through. Better plug the leak. The vast majority of "filthy rich" who actually get a salary over 250K (not trust fund Kennedy elites) busted their ass to get there. People like you believe you are entitled to vote for some other person to reach in the "filthy rich" guy's pocket , take his $$, & give it to you & call yourself a compassionate patriot & champion of justice. The sum of all the comments is: How to stop the man...NOW...before he finishes his insane programs of taking over the powers of government and begins ruling by executive order aka edict.

WE are faced with: The Blind Spot of Science and the many Branches of Government. Demons just dont' show up in X-Rays or Constitutional Political Deliberations or The List of Safeguards of Democratic Instutions---or in the Gunsights of Minute-Men.
Obama has presented the country with a new diminision of evil...demon spirit control aka witchcraft tactics. Lies/truths deception/transparency so that lies become the truth and the truth is seen as evil. The switch has been made, the good is evil; what was once evil is now good. It is too late.
The USA-- who has thrown off the mantle of religion, even the Christian religion, is ill equipted to deal with demon spirits, who are far smarter and more powerful than any man or group of men. Demons are not afraid of A-bombs.
America is in a spiritual battle for its life. A battle that it is losing and will continue to lose. For the Almighty God who created the universe and man said: When a nation rejects and exiles the Only Lord God, the Lord Jesus Christ, long enough ...they are turned over to a reprobate mind - (a spiritual entity) which will believe a lie....and by believing a lie, instead of the Truth (Jesus Christ) they- will be damned. Obama is that reprobate mind, along with religious reprobates like Hinn, Osteen, Crouch, Graham, et al who are recruiting for the antichrist program which is unfolding before our eyes....i.e. Church/State abomination. the reincarnation of Babylon the Great: aka The Great Whore, Mother of Harlots and the abominations of the earth...
Stocking up on canned goods and dried beans and brown rice is good avice. But it will be only a very limited stop-gap measure.

The remedy will be like the 8 humans on an Ark, out the entire world population.

Bunkerville reminds me---

The other morning I awoke and remembered I had a dream. Oh yes, a dream and I don't dream much anymore.

My dream was Obonehead was at a podium, a podium he had pymp-walked up to in all his arrogant, self-assured, hubris emitting, chin-jutting style that only a terminal narcissist can exhibit. As dreams go there wasn't scripted continuity and this one was certainly without a script, but at the moment I woke-up all I remember was Obonehead was being carried-off by aides horizontally, kicking and screaming incoherently, apparently the job had finally gotten to him, the charade was over.

Yep, he fundamentally transformed my dream cycle, that schmuck!!!

Albeit just a dream, but it's my dream and I really had it...

Bob Grant| 12.2.10 @ 4:08PM

martin j smith| 12.2.10 @ 4:08PM

I am inclined to agree that the idea of "compromise" with Oboma is an oxymoron--or worse. The truth in my view is that Obama hates the majority of Americans and especially those who believe things like free market capitalism,American Exceptionalism ,and the Consitituion. Obama is NOT and American President from my point of view fundamentally because he does not like the basis of our founding. This is crucial.
Now look at the behavior of Pelosi and other Dems during this lame duck session . Any sign of reasonableness --Nope. Any sign of wanting to work for the betterment of the country as a whole-Nope and sign other than the usual class warfare, hate America and spend spend spend even if we do not have the dough ? No change there.

So, keep your shirt on,be cool, trust but verify--but be ready for a bloody political battle ahead it will be nastier than ever--you can bet on that..

Love that dream, but alas, suspect it more wishful thinking than prediction. Federal Judges refusing deadon to pay attention to any request to investigate the man's eligiblity. Now, several have brought obamacare to court and again, Federal Judges refuse deadon to hear a word. Will the Supreme Court really give American citizens their well earned time in court? The Wikileaks are another story. WWIII: I bet that's just the kind of crisis somebody would find too good to waste. Did Wikileaks do what Ron Paul

ROBERT | 12.2.10 @ 5:01PM

I agree with most of what has been written here: very interesting comments. Sadly, I recall the lines "We have met the enemy and he is us!" There is too much truth in this statement. In the last twenty years.

1. Americans have stopped reading books choosing instead TV situational comedies, interspersed with ads for viagra, and such intellectual smash hits as AVATA a movie with flashing lights, and wierd colors, a story with the same silly and too often theme pitched in "Dances with Wolves" Rooseau's noble savage is exploited by the dredges of humanity, the American citizen.

2. While there is nothing wrong in the pursuit of wealth, Americans have made it a habit as dangerous and the taking of drugs. They have leveraged everything and acquire consumer goods they cannot afford by paying off the balance on four of five credit cards. Now, as they have saved nothing and leveraged everything, they are in a world of hurt. Sadly they are looking to government to bail them out which is precisely the request that delights a totalitarian state.

3. Sadly, American morals have declined. Individual rights trump the concept of duty and civility.

6. Americans have forgotten how to think and have substituted emotion in place of reason. A majority of Americans voted Obama into office on such vacuous campaign pledges as "remaking America, Yes we can" and perhaps the most stupid campaign slogan ever pushed: "We are the ones we have been waiting for." Just how stupid does it get. The Republican primary debates were an exercise in pathetically stupid questions from the media and equally stupid responses from the candidates. They seemed to please everyone.

The most reasonable question called in was intentionally a joke: A man had a chest of drawers he was trying to sell and was wondering whether any of the contestants were willing to buy it.

I do not mean to criticize Americans unfairly and my comments certainly do not apply to all Americans. But that the Obama administration, themselves a coterie of leftist morons, considers Americans to be dumb as grass is an opinion that has some merit. After all, Obama won the presidency on speeches centered it seems on themes recovered from a half dozen or so Chinese fortune cookies. "We are the ones we have been waiting for. Yes indeed!

Janice Fortin| 12.2.10 @ 5:13PM

Character analysis didn't keep America from being sold down the river by its own leaders and the congress and senate did nothing to protect citizens....and that's the bottom line. Actions speak louder than any education, i.q., or looks.
With all his education and one would think smarts to go with it, Clinton sold the reactor to No.K. without which they wouldn't be in present position. That's a done deal. An oz of prevention would be worth many lbs of cure. Now you have a cowardly president who brought a State of the Union to court. Such could be expected of its worst enemy. Oh I do think he qualifies. There again every action of his proves his words are jello. He wants USA to be 3rd world gutter, every talent outsourced, schools dumbed down to accommodate 26, 36, and more languages in one school: wow! wot a recipe for failure, not only of students, but of the entire country. Take a peek at Numbers USA Gumball Demonstration and you will be shocked at the absurd policies presented by the socalled educated. I hear a rumble of some good stout hearts considering a run at the Executive Office. If the Justice Dept, the Congress and Senate did only a fraction of their duty, this administration will be out the door way before 2012. But dear friends, we must prepare for all contingencies. WE'RE GOING TO MAKE IT AFTER ALL.

MyGirlFriday| 12.2.10 @ 5:39PM

I would like to suggest to those of you on this post that so admire President Obama, and have every faith in what his administration has done to date, should not worry about those of us who think and believe differently. If you wish to unload your frustrations on others because their beliefs are different and not inline with yours, perhaps you should start your own blog. There you could insult as many people as you like, those of course who will tolerate your name calling. I do not believe I am out of line when I say that our respectful AmSpec posters have attempted to explain to you in the nicest terms possible that all thoughtful opinions are welcome, but name calling, and insults are not just disrespectful but intellectually cheap. A drive by the Huffington Post or the Daily Kos might be much more enjoyable for you and more to your likening. There you can join the President Obama Love Feast. They work very hard to up with news ways to rehash George Bush, George Bush, George Bush or any other fall back from his administration. No one will even ask you to articulate your discontent, your hate, your rage, you will just be......... There.

Repost

Behind the facade, Obami is completely ruthless, despotic and tyrannical, oppressing people, taking away their constitutional rights, their freedoms and their dignity.

The law of the Chicago ghetto jungles gives Obami the perverted rationale for using intimidation and force when it suits his ends. He believes he is a law unto himself, cynically living in the world of realpolitik where what matters is having the might to prevail, regardless of right or wrong.

It is impossible to be congenial with and dangerous to trust a person like Obami, since he takes every sign of friendliness or cooperation as a sign of weakness and therefore as an invitation to take advantage of others. Treacherous and immoral, Obami has absolutely no compunction about lying, cheating, stealing or reneging on his promises. He will resort to any unconstitutional illegality or ruse to get what he wants. He will blatantly and outrageously lie repeatedly so endlessly and vehemently that it begins to be accepted as the truth. The smallest hint of opposition from others will bring an avalanche of retaliation from him.

Obami is able to destroy because he does not identify with anyone else. His egocentricity allows him to see only himself in the country, and if the country does not reflect him, he will eventually hate the country so much that he will attempt to destroy it.

To quote the philosopher Hillel, “If you are not for yourself, who will be? But if you are for yourself alone, what are you?”

konastephen| 12.2.10 @ 6:52PM

Hilyer lost me when he casually lumped the entire plaintiff's bar in on the Left. This blanket hostility towards trial lawyers is a sure indicator of an establishmentarian mentality. It's the country-club elites that love their silk stocking firms, the firms that defend their portfolios, that keep banking and lending insulated from the unwashed masses, that preserve the Fortune whatever from accountability for all the dirty deeds that keep them supreme. I suggest that it is only the likes of Hilyer who have a hard time understanding the place of the righteous trial lawyer in the new Grand Old Tea Party. Fortunately his is a waning argument.

Occam's Tool| 12.2.10 @ 7:32PM

The plaintiff bar donates exlusively to the Dems, who represent the Left. The reason I oppose the death penalty is because I wouldn't trust the attorneys to pour piss out of a boot with instructions on the bottom. I have been an expert witness more times than I can count.

Righteous trial lawyer my tail. 90% of all medical malpractice lawsuits are won by the defendant, chumley. Your typical trial lawyer is much closer to John Edwards in his mentality than not, and I've known dozens.

Thanks G/friday. Obama is truly out of touch with reality. But he was always that way. He was raised in so many different worlds -- mostly Muslim - and learned at an early age -that the way to handle all who disagree with your leadership or religion is to kill them. Like he, on the sly, had his opponants taken off the ballot in the Ill. Senate race, just before ballots were printed..so he won his first battle by breaking the law-made by the will of the people. That is his M.O. to achieve victory and will always remain so.
Like the Muslim owner of a TV station in New York-3 years ago, who thought his wife had committed fornication-so he called her into his office in his TV station and ...(I'm not making this up folks- as Rush so often must say when describing the nefarious and near insane acts and words of the ONE and his cohorts in crime)
and he had her bend over and he cut off her head. Then he calmly called the police and said it was for family honor according to Shiria law. It happened in New York, in 2008-and not one thing was done about it. It was Shirah law-so the Muslim religious law trumpted US Criminal law. And why? Because the top ONE is Muslim.
The frustration of our fellow bloggers is evident except-those few that G/friday mentioned.
But one thing has begun to emerge from the entire blog - With the Congress and the Courts refusing to lasso the dangerous wild child, the citizenry are definitely willing to engage in armed rebellion against the top man and the next 3-4 levels below him to clean them out. These Bloggers are not willing to allow the Feds to order violence against a brother state AZ who is fighting for its life and the peace and lawful order of it citizens - who by the way....are American Citizens, tax payers too.
America got beautiful - by following the prescriptions for law and order the founders composed in the Constitution.
But today, America is victim of so many unbeautiful cliques and clans and minority groups and special interest groups, and even dregs of society who are trying to take a bite out of our pocketbook.... Those unbeautiful got in through the giant hole bored in the side of the Constitution by the 1953 Supreme Court decision that---IT IS illegal for Americans to choose their associates any longer. Choosing your associates in social situations is a crime now. And a left bank hero lead in that fatal decision, B vs. B of Ed. That hole in freedom, sucked in every unbeautiful and undesirable reject of every kind. The parade is not over of the unqualified who are scrambling to get in through that hole and set themselves up as a minority who forces their will over the majority. Think about it. We can no longer lease or rent our property to people who meet "our" standards. We must be guided by the government dictates over our private lives and property in all the institutions of society. Our religioius conviction are illegal and can no longer guide us. But for the Muslims, their religious convictions are permitted and even legally mandated.
America is not so beautiful now or the land of liberty it once was and will never be again.
Stock up on dried beans and brown rice and canned goods. And seek the Lord God Almighty in praise and pray and worship, the Lord Jesus Christ.

A greatly overlooked verse is Luke 23:9 "Then he questioned with him in many words; but he answered him nothing."

Interesting how Jesus humself had so little respect for Herod that he would not even speak to him. American-style Christianity is so afraid to show any "true grit." I think that some of the problems we face in America are due to a mentality shown by the whites that could be lebelled as "compassion without wisdom." I think it is rooted in the fact that though we started as mostly a Christian nation, we forgot that it is OKAY to have a toughness to balance Christian grace and mercy. Now what we have is neither Christian nor merciful.

I am glad that though you refer to yourself as a Reverend in your title, your post shows that you have not lost the tough-love, true-grit aspect of Chritianity. We need to get back to balance in American Christianty.

This guy's thinking is wrong--not about Obama, necessarily, but about his plan to counter his efforts.

With arrogant "mouthpieces" like Obermann, Bill Maher, David Letterman, Jon Stewart, and Stephen Cobert whose every word is hung on by millions, the man is carrying the equivalent of
190 pounds in the Derby. They’re going to help the left in a BIG way swallow the myth that conservatives (and those who represent them) are shoeless, banjo-picking genetic freaks like the kid in “Deliverance”. And conservatives will gladly play the role of “Columbo”.

The key to finishing off the left is to assume the role of the hapless dupe. This has been a winning strategy for everyone from Sun Tzu to Maxwell Smart.

NOTHING is so self-destructive as underestimating one's opponent no matter how outclassed you might think he is--and if Obama has proven one thing, there is no antagonist he believes up to the fight.

BackToBasics| 12.3.10 @ 12:12AM

from the article:
"Obama doesn't empathize; he pities."

Revolted is the word not pity. As condescending as pity is, it still does not give its object the "middle finger" as Obam has done.

He does not pity the white middle class, he finds them revolting.

Margie said: "I do believe that what Tom Anderson espouses is the Lefty Libertariansim of today.

"Exactly the anti-God philosophy of the Ron Paul Libbers, and the very thing that is trying to infect the Republican party through a certain faction of TEA partiers.

"Beware and take heed, conservatives!"

The surest way to crush people's enthusiasm for a radical break with Leviathan is to argue on the basis of religion, for the very obvious reason that on the basis of religion one can advance any vision at all of governmental power.

My point was simply that the surest intellectual check to Leviathan is a moral principle, which is, that there are certain things society cannot do to human beings, and that principle of limitation, is the idea of individual rights.

Individual rights, the notion that a man has a right to live his life for his own sake, is, prima facie, inconcsistent with Christian moral teaching, which is based on the doctrine of Original Sin, and holds that to be moral one must sacrifice one's interests, even one's life, for the sake of others. Christ on the cross is the very symbol of this Christian belief.

So pardon me, Marge, if I beg to differ from you perspective.

We shall never recover our rights and institute limited government so long as we tie the political fight to religion.

It is wrong to reject supporters of individual rights merely because they disagree with your particular views on religion or a belief in deities.

To call me a "lefty" is no different than when real lefties call me a racist and try to bully and intimidate, rather than meet the point with a rational argument.

Margie| 12.3.10 @ 11:44AM

Actually, you're wrong and I'm right, darlin'.

Read it and weep:

The surest way to crush anyone's enthusiasm is to claim the religion has no place in politics. THAT is the Leftist lie of the ages.

"The Constitution was designed for a moral and RELIGIOUS people. It is wholly inadequate for the governance of any other."
John Adams.

I'm out of breath reading all the comments. I loved them all but you Guys missed the point. Barack is a misguided soul coming from Muslim roots with a belief Christanity is beneath his dignity. Therefore he refuses to touch the Bible as it might burn a mark in his hands. He is a tool of the Fed Bank as was his predecessors, every president since John Kennedy. The most damages inflicted to this point by (Believe it or not) R. Reagan and Geo W. Bush. Obama might become the most dangerous. But it an't over til the "FAT LADY" sings Folks. I did enjoy all the comments. I think they were all Brilliant. What will everyone think of mine?

I thought the anti-semite Tim* was banned.

Why is he being permitted to harass and claim my husband and I are posting as other people, as he is doing under other names in other threads as well?

Each time he does this, claiming to be either myself, or claiming that we are posting as another, I will ask you this, Quin.

Why is there a double standard here?

If I am warned of name calling, yet this man is allowed to continually harass and lie doing what I have just told you, why is it that he is permitted to do these things?

Just wondering.

Fantastic, impassioned string of commentaries and very refreshing to see real Americans, exceptional Americans, voice their opinions for the sake of liberty. I was just about to quote Ronald Reaan when I read the last comment from WOW WEE about the damage that last great American President, Ronald Reagan has done. Can you be more specific? I recall the 80's and the early 90's as being pretty good. And to quote RR " It is up to us, in our time,to choose and choose wisely between the hard and necessary task of preserving peace and freedom, and the temptation to ignore our duty and blindly hope for the best while the enemies of freedom grow stronger day by day". I believe we have an enemy of freedom in our WH,and if one is opposed to freedom of one kind, then be sure h/she will oppose freedom of any other kind. Freedom, in this case is in the form of those "certain inalienable rights" that our Founders so aptly observed as having been "endowed by our Creator", and not from any earthly institution. Having said that, here's another favorite phrase from another favorite Author: "He controls the course of world events; He removes kings and sets up other kings. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the scholar". Daniel 2:21.
So now then, can we all just pray for the removal of a certain man who would be king? Please do!

Margie writes: "'The Constitution was designed for a moral and RELIGIOUS people. It is wholly inadequate for the governance of any other.'
John Adams.

"I take my stand with not only Christ Himself, but the Founding Fathers."

Of course your statement begs the question, when certainly one of the points at issue is whether Christ is a deity. As for John Adams, his views were not the only views represented among the Founders.

Notwithstanding the historical references, while it was not unreasonable to believe in divine creation and a providential deity in 1800, it is certainly inappropriate to so believe today, in view of such modern developments in thought as Darwinian Evolution.

But here again, why should I be forced to argue the contest between science and religion when all I want to do is defend your and my right to our own lives?

The answer to the question between science and religion has zero immediate consequence for deciding the moral issues involved. One does not have to believe in deities in order to believe in man's need for a moral code to guide the actions of his life.

Margie| 12.3.10 @ 3:17PM

That's quite an astonishing statement to make given the growth of government over the decades since the New Deal. I wonder what country or what alternative universe you must be living in that you are unaware how high the tax rate is in the United States? The corporate rate is the highest in the world right now. Or would you argue that confiscatory taxes do not constitute a violation of individual rights?

Are you unaware that most of what the federal government currently does is unconstitutional, were you to interpret the Constitution as our Founders would?

Soul less cybernetic humans that are part of a great collective (that sounds kinda Marxist ehh?) here to assimilate everything in their wake. No dissenters allowed in The Borg - like the Left. I'm sorry, but Obama is Evil, period. I don't care what reasons he may use, or others interpret his meanings and reasons are for, Evil is Evil..
And why, because anytime, someone wants to take power and control, away from the People, as in a Republic, and assume it for himself, as in an Authoritarian Totalitarian Regime, and or an Oligarchy, for whatever reasons, is Evil, in any Human Civilized Society, but especially so, in America, where the Founding Fathers, set up the United States of America, with the U S Constitution and Bill of Rights, as it's Foundation of this Great Nation, which is a Republic, and for which the Govt, is, " Of the People, By the People, and For the People".!!!

Rev. RL Bufkin | 12.4.10 @ 1:12AM

The justices of many levels of the US court system have all formed a block against all law suites to force Obama to reveal his true identity, and birth certificate. BUT NOW - the Supreme Court has refused to hear a case against Obama to force him to reveal his true identity and birth certificate.
NOW the QUESTION IS...if the smartest and most intelligent legal eagles among us...dont see the EVIL that we all see...and the shakers and movers of last resort refuse to come to the aid of the majority of frustrated ciizens.. AND if the epitomy of intelligence and legal remedies can't SEE the idiocy and danger and bumbling errors and even outright crimes against the Constitution on which the Supremes Sit...to hatch out solutions for the worst problems among us... WHAT THEN?
If their sitting continues to hatch out resistance to the very spirit and letter of their nest and the will of the vast majority of the people...WHAT THEN?
That is really the greatest mystery of all !!!! They know the vast majority are agaisnt Obama period...and don't support him as a man or leader much less as President, yet they refuse to grant relief to the masses whom they are sworn to serve by lessening the steam build up of frustration which has grown now to boiler plate blow off diminisions....and is just short of armed rebellion...
The condition of the USA,,,bless the Lord, is far worse at core than most people realize ...me thinks.
True, the Lord ruleth in the counsels of men...but not always by sudden input...but always by his predetermined outcome... Which may take decades or longer.. rlbm.org Good bye - USA - hello collectivest free for all - down to "the last man standing". "To deal with Obama . . . we must not be cold-blooded. We act not in hatred for what Obama stands for, but through love for country, Constitution, and civil society. . . :

We're in a street fight with the Democrats, liberals and leftists--and have been so for a very long time.

Unless we understand that, something that I think that the Republican Party, but particularly its elite and some of the conservative punditry, itself elite in nature, neither understand nor embrace.

'Til all who oppose the Marxist, anti-American, anti-capitalist, mendacious Obama and his party, we do behave as sheep to the slaughter.

He and his thugocrats and their party count on such behavior by anyone who opposes Obama. Perhaps that's why they're so very scared of the Tea Party and others in the electorate understand that we all stand on very dangerous ground now. Should we fail to defeat Obama and his ilk, it won't matter how much we love country, Constitution and civil society.

I do not see that Obama and his party behave with love of country, Constitution and civil society.

I see that's exactly what they seek to destroy.

And that may take courage and commitment that the opposition has not yet accessed.

Some people believe that Obama is not a good leader. On the contrary, I hold that he is a diligent politician.
Though in some aspects, he failed to obtain the trust of his black brother.
All in all, he took many efforts to behave like a president.

Obama's intent is for the good of the people, but for the good of Obama...with all his touting of fatherhood, he would sell his children to accomplish or gain whatever it is he wants. He is not to be trusted by the people or, for that matter, his family. His inability to be human and capability to see himself as a God-like creature has proven that he cares for nothing that does not serve his will. We, the American people, are expendable.

Hi Everyone...Isn't there a time limit for this negotiation on the Bush Tax cuts? The IRS has to print the tax forms before Jan. 1, 2011. They need some time to do this. They can't do it if the decision to change the tax code comes on Dec 31. I think they need a decision by about Dec 10th. That would give them 3 weeks to print the tax forms so that the forms could be available on Jan 1. Another thing. Not everybody who earns more than $250,000 is a business owner. Why not tweak the tax code so that people who earn over $250,000 and are NOT business owners will have to pay the higher tax rate? The tax code aready has lots of features, so why not add one more feature and end this debate about hurting small businesses with higher taxes? Have fun. Allan Guida
