The Obama Watch

Obama to Voters: Drop Dead

He is not interested in political strategy. He is interested in left-wing ideology, and the New Revolution.

The good news is that the Democrats and the Washington Establishment have heard the message from the American people on Election Day, 2010. How could they have not? It was an epoch beginning, 1932 style rout, as predicted here first 18 months ago.

The bad news is how much trouble our country is still in. For after all of President Obama’s double talking sweet talk right after the vote, the harsh reality, inconsistent with our very democracy, is that the Democrats and the Washington Establishment are rejecting the message the people sent. Their response is the political equivalent of “Shut Up.”

How else can we interpret the decision of House Democrats to defy the American people, and reelect ultra-left San Francisco Democrat Nancy Pelosi as Minority Leader? House Democrat candidates will now campaign in 2012 on the theme, “Vote for Us, and Bring Back Pelosi!” I think they have now answered the question, “How stupid do they think we are?”

And how else can we interpret President Obama, who said at his press conference the day after the electoral rout, “Over the last two years we have made progress. But clearly the American people have not felt that yet. And they told us that yesterday.” Just what exactly is he saying here? The words say the American people told us on Election Day that the Democrats are not moving to implement their left-wing agenda fast enough. President Obama is now acting as if this is the message he got on Election Day, as we will see below.

And how else can we interpret Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D-WV), who said in a Senate hearing just before Thanksgiving, “I hunger for quality news. There’s a little bug inside of me which wants to get the FCC to say to Fox and to MSNBC: ‘Out! Off! End! Goodbye!” Funny he should say that. Because there’s a little bug inside of me that wants to get the FEC to say to Rockefeller: “Out! Off! End! Goodbye!”

This is your modern Democrat party, run by New Left hippies from the '60s in suits, who don’t even believe in the First Amendment, because they are really just Hugo Chavez in waiting.

Obama to Rule by Decree

President Obama is already taking another step in that direction. For now that the American people have terminated his ability to ram his socialism through a thoroughly Left-Wing Congress, he has decided to rule by decree.

President Obama indicated as much again in his November 3 press conference. Regarding the cap and trade carbon tax bill, Obama said, “Cap and trade was just one way of skinning the cat. It was a means to an end. I’m going to be looking for other means to address this problem.”

Obama’s EPA has now begun the process for regulating carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) under the Clean Air Act. Note that CO2 is not a pollutant, but a natural substance in the environment essential to all human life on the planet. Without CO2, plants would die off, and without plants there would not be oxygen or food for humans and other animals.

This CO2 regulation will be even more burdensome to the economy than cap and trade. Both the Wall Street Journal and Bloomberg News reported last week that major energy, manufacturing, and construction projects will be shut down in an indefinite moratorium as a result. The Journal reports that the regulation will force “mass retirements of the coal plants that provide half of America’s electricity.” As a result, electricity costs will “necessarily skyrocket” as candidate Obama let out in the 2008 campaign, when he thought he was speaking only to an environmentalist extremist audience that would applaud that.

But there can be no applauding the impact of those higher electricity costs on manufacturing, and the jobs of blue collar workers. The regulations would take time to fully phase in and produce their full economic effects. But the resulting job losses are estimated to be 7 million or more nationwide, which would be a 50% increase in today’s persistent, high level of unemployment. That would involve an estimated trillion dollars a year in additional costs to the economy.

There is no scientific justification for this economic suicide for America’s economy, which is why even the current overwhelmingly Democrat Congress refused to pass cap and trade. But this doesn’t even take into account the full economic effect of the recession that would inevitably result. Indeed, achieving the CO2 targets would essentially repeal the industrial revolution, which would involve a lot more lost jobs than 7 million. If you don’t think anyone would ever attempt that, then you don’t understand the extremist threat facing our country.

The effect would be particularly harsh in areas where the industries produce higher than average CO2 levels, such as Republican Texas and Louisiana with their vibrant oil and natural gas industries. Again, those higher CO2 levels are not harmful to anyone. The scientifically proven effect would merely be to increase agricultural production in the region, again because CO2 is like oxygen for plants. But as Dick Morris explained in his column on November 22, “that’s what the EPA plans to do, virtually making economic growth illegal in large parts of the United States.”

But the EPA is not stopping there. At the very same time, it is moving ahead with new regulations to further reduce the national ambient air quality standard for ground level ozone. In an editorial for the Heartland Institute, William Shugart explains:

First, that video of Jay Rockefeller talking about FOX News ranks right up there with Barbara Boxer's Ma'am (I worked so hard to get this title)comments to the general. Have they met? Now that would be a power couple.

Jay Rockefeller oozes arrogance which without his power could be ignored. If this blind pig can't find sources of news which meet his standard, he is "stupider" than previously thought.

Jolene| 12.1.10 @ 11:23AM

Since so many intelligent people in multiple organizations are on to these criminal acts, why are they not organizing themselves, educating the public, and going public on Fox News and fighting in the courts to oppose these soon to be new laws?

Svecky| 12.1.10 @ 11:59AM

Though this would indeed be a great idea, remember that the public who is the least informed about the current state of our Union are those who watch the 10:00 news on local channels of ABC, NBC and CBS and NOT the Fox New Channel. So long as the liberal agendas dominate these "news networks," the words of truth will not get to those who really need to hear it. We, the informed, need to quickly spread the word with friends, co-workers and family members; we cannot wait for others to grab the reins. I do think the Tea Party movement was an excellent strategy for relaying pertinent information across the nation. Another outreach like this would be spectacular!

David W| 12.1.10 @ 2:32PM

Here's a thought. Can we conservatives determine which of the MSM companies is doing the worse (ratings, ad revenues, etc.) and present ourselves as a "progressive" group of people to want to save that network. Then, once we own it, we can set about re-assigning the liberal anchors and writers and producers and bring in real anchors and writers and producers? That way we sneak in, create a foothold in enemy territory, and create a pincher movement with Fox on one side and our "redesigned" network on the other???? I'd be willing to donate a few bucks to help that happen (what I'm no longer giving to PBS).

J Mark| 12.2.10 @ 2:31AM

Excellent thoughts. You have proposed the exact strategy that the Progressives that put Obama into office used to usurp the Democrat party and take over our government. They are all Marxist, Leninist, and Communists starting with Soros on down to the big fake himself. It's time to use their tactics on them and educate the public with REAL news based on facts.

JohnD| 12.2.10 @ 10:25AM

I stopped my subscription tp PBS last year when they refused to run a story that favored the right. I will never ever donate any money to them. And as a former Registured Democrat who voted independently and donated to aspirants in both parties. After watching the arrogrance of the Democrat the last 4 years in can truthfully say that they will never get a penny of mine. I am now a Conserative. But let me qualify that, I will still vote for the persom but never for a democrat, because they are decidely out of touch with the majority of the American people.

John D2| 12.2.10 @ 11:02AM

I still contribute to my local PBS TV station because they have outstanding shows that have zip-bupkis-nada to do with politics. On the other hand, shows like "Fresh Aire" with Terry Gross are a total left-wing joke and are continuing evidence of the left's obliviousness to fundamental political, social, and economic realities. I feel your pain.

johnqadams2nd| 12.2.10 @ 10:28AM

Jolene.
Why?
It can be wrapped up in one word.
Apathy.

eRIK| 12.2.10 @ 12:13PM

Dear John Q.

If it's apathy, realize that is only an affectation. What he does is according to his plan.

John Navratil| 12.1.10 @ 5:58PM

At least Senator (she worked so hard to get that title) Boxer is a joke and her behaviour did nothing more than make her a laughing stock.

Rockefeller's comment was much more like Maxine Waters threatening to nationalize the oil companies.

GregA| 12.1.10 @ 6:46PM

Boxer's arrogance didn't prevent her from getting re-elected. In some pockets of this great nation, pompous elitism and contempt for the will of the people actually plays well at the ballot box.

John Navratil| 12.1.10 @ 7:31PM

No doubt! But I'd rather schmooze the arrogant Boxer than have Waters nationalize the oil companies.

Still, until all these bozos are contained, we'd better keep an eye on the silverware.

Alan Brooks| 12.1.10 @ 10:15PM

And what is your solution?: Mitt Romney?

BillboTex| 12.2.10 @ 9:38AM

Thanks, Alan.......YES, YES, YES!

Vote for honesty and capability, not lies and arrogance! Remember the current administration is proposing that your children will be forced to retire after age 80? Same principle as income taxes started at 2% - WAKE UP AMERICA! Don't become lobsters who don't struggle if the boiling water is turned up SLOWLY!

Beth| 12.3.10 @ 6:09AM

Now, if that proposal were to FORCE retirement at age 80 - especially for all congressmen and congresswomen and judges - I'd be all for it!

Nikolai Yezhov Jr.| 12.5.10 @ 6:55PM

Congratulations comrade, job well done.

Any day now the capitalist exploiters will fall like an over ripe fruit into our proletarian hands. And your name will shine forever in the Hall Of Progressive Heroes, for your steadfast dedication to the People's Struggle, here behind enemy lines.

I'm taking the liberty of forwarding to you your Hero Of Socialist Labor and Order Of The Red Banner awards. Wear them with pride and know that our Glorious General Secretary is watching, always watching.

Nicky.

Drudge, I agree with you and the author Ferrara: "Because there is a little bug inside of me that wants to get the FEC to say to Rockefeller, "Out! Off! End! Goodbye!" and I want to say, "Jay! You're next!"

Appleby| 12.1.10 @ 7:00AM

There is really no solution to th Obama problem save removing Obama. To a degree we the people can neutralize him -- and the best way, already demonstrated, is ridicule. The man cannot stand being laughed at.

Until they make it illegal to mock the Dear Leader, point and laugh.

GreginOkinawa---you have just committed a felony. I disavow any of your comments on Mr. Obama. I don't like him and I want him out of office, but we don't even joke about such things. It wasn't right when the Left did that to Bush, and we don't do this type of crap.

East Texas Rancher| 12.1.10 @ 7:03AM

Before the election I was accused by a friend, of being really negative when I said, "The election will not change anything and, folks ought not to hope it will." I went on to explain that Obama was not in it to listen to voters and that even if we "whopped up" on the Dems, Obama would rule by edict. He isn't here to govern. He never was and never will be. He is here to rule and tear down and dismantle. If folks want to believe otherwise and believe that Democracy always survives need to take heed. Just listen to one Glenn Beck tv program and here him say, "Prepare for the worst," and you have it. We are going down.

I don't have to even like typing that, but this President is here to do just that, tear down and dismantle and hand us to the world stage, collectively, and allow the world to judge us, to pass on our punishment, and to dismantle. If you believe the ride was rough now, well, strap in and hold on, the ride is just starting.

You are so right, this Bull has just started to buck !

L. Ross| 12.1.10 @ 11:30AM

Could someone please explain to me the "Texas" thing about telling everyone you are from Texas? I don't see anyone identifying themselves as Vermonters or Minnesotans or Oregonians but Texans just gotta let you know. Why?

svecky| 12.1.10 @ 12:09PM

The question you should ask yourself is, "What difference does it make? Does it affect the way you put your pants on in the morning? Are you really losing sleep over this when there is so much more to be concerned about?" What's wrong with being proud of where you come from? Is saying you're an American also taboo?
Come on...
I'm a Minnesotan...and one of the few conservatives trying to stay afloat in a liberal la-la land!
Try being proud of who you are and what you believe in!

Ken (Old Texican)| 12.1.10 @ 12:37PM

L. Ross
I will 'splain it to you.
We true Texans are willing to pay for our freedom... In cash, and in blood if necessary.

Always have, and always will.
Why aren't you proud of where you hail from?

GKPAL| 12.1.10 @ 6:30PM

He is probably from New York or California.

Linda| 12.7.10 @ 3:26AM

No, I will 'splain it to you. That person is probably for Minnesota. And to busy shopping at Target where the Muslims decide what they will and will not ring up at the cash register, thereby regulating what you can buy. And the taxi drivers want to dictate what you can have and no have in your luggage at the airport and whether you can travel with a dog not even a seeing eye dog. Minnesotan are lining up like cattle for Sharia Law.

Occam's Tool| 12.3.10 @ 6:44PM

Dear Margie: Merry Christmas, in advance, and please see my discussion of Texas.

JFGalt| 12.1.10 @ 1:04PM

Something interesting about that - when you travel outside of the US and someone asks an American (non-Texan) where they are from they typically say from the United States but a Texan will answer that question by saying that they are from Texas. In France where Americans are often shunned by their response amazing a Texan is not. Its called pride about where you are from and the rest of the world see it. How many states can boast that? Here in central Texas (as most of thte state) you see people flying the Texas flag everywhere and in aschool after the Pledge of Allegiance come the Texas Pledge. You should be so lucky to feel the difference living somewhere where people take such pride in where they live. I've lived and traveled in different parts of the country and the world and can tell you that I am happy and proud to be in Texas. Maybe you just have to experience it for yourself?

gene| 12.2.10 @ 12:57PM

I was born in Michigan, left there in the 70s and regretfully moved to Calif. Spent 35 years in the only conservative county in Calif. but it has now turned left also. In 2006 I got out and moved to Alaska. The majority in Alaska are conservative but there are still a bunch of swing voters and the left is trying to corrupt the whole state. The city council in Anchorage are left wing idiots that want to raise taxes again so the Unions can continue to ripp off the city. Begitch our last Mayor gave the police and firefighters a 15% raise his last 2 weeks in office before stealing the election from Ted Stevens. Look at which states are doing well in this ressesion TEXAS and LOIUSIANA. Both with conservative governments. With the lefties it is there way or no way but they say it is the conservatives blocking everything. Yes the conservatives are blocking the communist takeover of our great country.

Ray| 12.1.10 @ 2:58PM

Can you explain to me your obsession with the nicknames of the members here? I don't see anyone complaining about your nic, for example. I mean, really, what's your" "thing" about including a period in you nick? Is that to indicate something of relevance, some type of credentials, or is that simply how you want to display your public persona here?

Here's the thing, how people portray their public persona, what names they pick to identify themselves, is immaterial. It's their comments, their opinions, the statements they make, that are important in a public forum like the comment sections here at Amspec. Other than to identify one person from another, the names themselves are immaterial.

John Navratil| 12.1.10 @ 6:03PM

Is that the best you can do? "Intellectual honesty" from the great canuckistani! Brilliant!

BillboTex| 12.2.10 @ 9:45AM

Deborah, Texas| 12.2.10 @ 10:37AM

Because every Texan believes in Texas. We believe that every thing grows bigger, we have core values above the rest of the world, honor and pride comes before greed and contempt, but most of all...we believe in each other.
Texans are arrogant for a reason. We raise our children to be strong in our values. We are Texans and there is no place on earth like Texas!
Just the way it is.
We all wish the yanks would move back to where ever it is they came from because they don't share our way of life. They've shoved liberalism to far, corrupt our children and they corrupt our legal system.
Texas is the greatest state in the Union...i.e. we are not begging from the federal government to take care of us, we can take care of our own!
Can your state say any of these things?
Didn't think so.

A Concerned Montanan| 12.2.10 @ 11:31AM

If every state in the union were standing up like Texas and making their patriotism known, we could maybe make the socialist gathering in Washington DC sit up and listen.
I have always been proud to be from the "great state of Montana" but can't say I am very proud of our senators, Max Baucus and Jon Tester. As far as I am concerned Max is an outright traitor to his state, and Jon just follows along, unaware of the dangers of the Obamanation. And our Democratic governor and state attorney just sit back, hoping conservatives from other states (including you Texans) will do the work for them.

Linda| 12.7.10 @ 3:42AM

To: A Concerned Montanan, I agree with you whole heartedly. I have lived in Montana and would love it if it wasn't so bloody cold. I still have relatives there. But Montana is getting over run with leftist liberals too. One of your school districts, want to teach all children by fifth grade all the different ways to have sex, included use of graphic pictures of different sexual positions that are blantant porno.

Rick in LO| 12.2.10 @ 1:58PM

As a conservative Wolverine I can say I love the work done by all conservatives in every state. We are making slow progress in Michigan but we aspire to be like Texas. (Except maybe the exclusion part) Keep up the fight Deborah, love your passion you're welcome in Michigan.

Occam's Tool| 12.3.10 @ 6:30PM

Dear Mr. L Ross. As a non-Texan, but a graduate of Texas Christian AND University of Texas Medical Branch, let me elucidate some points so as to alleviate your ignorance regarding Texans:

Texas is the Greatest of the 50 States. It has the best BBQ, The Best Steaks, The Best Cancer Center (MD Anderson), the prettiest cheerleaders (both College and Pro). It is the largest of the contiguous 50 States. It has at least 3 world class Universities (A&M, UT, and Rice), and several superb Medical schools, including the Oldest One in Texas, my alma mater. The safest major metro area in the US (El Paso) is in Texas, and El Paso also has 350 days of Sunshine a year. Texas also boasts the greatest Jewish Country singer of all time (Kinky Friedman) and the greatest Jewish author of Ney York based mystery novels (again, Kinky). Texas also has the Best Governor of the 50 states (Rick Perry). Texas also has the best and largest honkeytonk in the 50 States (BillyBob's of Texas).

To be a native Texan, it is not sufficient to have been born there. No, the appropriate wild-thinging between your parental units must have occurred on the sacred soil of Texas for you truly to be a native son or daughter of the largest (and greatest) of the Contiguous 48 States. In addition, other than my wife, the prettiest and sweetest girls I ever dated were also from Texas.

I currently live in Minnesota, and, were I not heat intolerant, and my job so awesome, I would probably be living in Texas.

As for Svecky, yes, it does make a difference on how you put your pants on in the morning, but that is a complicated medical issue regarding the additional bulk one acquires in the front from simply being on fine Texas earth surrounded by Texas women, and in the back from acquiring extra weight due to insatiable need for Texas BBQ.

I do hope this was explanatory enough for you, Mr. Ross, sir.

Occam's Tool| 12.3.10 @ 6:31PM

Sorry, I was so mystified by Texas that I pulled an Obama---contiguous 48 states.

Occam's Tool| 12.3.10 @ 6:33PM

Well, we would Ralph, but everything written or televised during the Bush administration was produced by the leftist media! Bush couldn't even say "good morning" without some news feed snarling about the way he said it. He was malignantly caricaturized, made the butt of every comic's joke, and still is considered the instigator of all our current problems. I am happy to see that more and more people "see" what Obama is all about. From the day he took the Oath of Office he lied. He abhors the Constitution becuse it is antithetical to his Marxist ideation. His 'orders' from somewhereare to destroy the USA's form of government. Everything, and I mean everything, he has done is to ruin this country! He is allowed to hide behind the people's respect for the Presidency. This country is in more danger than it has ever been in its history because of the Progressives who have infiltrated every aspect of this country. They are like a plague that has grown in strength over the past 75 years! An antidote is needed or America will die.

johnqadams2nd | 12.2.10 @ 10:53AM

Richard. A comment if I may.
It riles me just a tad when these people get called "progressive". They are Socialists and that's anything but progressive.
Aside from that. yer right on.
"Keep yer powder dry, n yer eyes sharp."

Brian H| 12.5.10 @ 11:18PM

You gotta know the history of the word. It was self-applied by those who decided that all of history was primitive and debased, and that only they, with their new superior above-cultural-illusion ideas, were able to see or speak Trooth. They would "progress" to new heights of enlightenment, and bring the dummies along, or cull them until they were under control.

I am not exaggerating. The Fenians were quite explicit about all of the above, e.g.

So being "progressive" means demolishing all tradition and loyalties, all beliefs and nations, and submitting to the New Masters.

johnqadams2nd | 12.2.10 @ 10:48AM

B-gunn. I couldn't agree with you more. I been saying this from the get-go. osama et-all will do anything they can, any way they can, to rule. Ignoring the will of the people is "business as usual" for them. Twisting the meaning to our vote results is the norm. These people truly disgust me. They USE the constitution when it means they can achieve part of their agenda and when that does not work they do it by edict.
To all U Texans--stand tall. At least in your state U constantly try to do something about all this ka-ka. Here in the socialist capital of the SW, NM it's "business as usual". But--maybe--just maybe, with a Republican getting in as govenor it may start to change but I ain't holdin my breath.

Lucrecia| 12.2.10 @ 1:23PM

East texas rancher AGREE 110%, it is going to get so bread, people will want to die, all because of these dang communists, and the stupidity of the constituent, how can anyone in their right mind believe all the jibberish this man (Obama) has said.

I do like a good potboiler ( is that a oxymoron), maybe we can give sixteen year olds the vote and elect Lady GaGa as president next election.....and I thought Bill Clinton was as bad as the democrats could do. Boxers or briefs

Peter... As always you have put into "WORDS" exactly what is on our minds...We are told to " SHUT-UP" while the DEMS agenda goes on..business as usual. Seems we are captured and "RULED" by the 2 coasts EAST and WEST!! Where are the BOLD ..LIBERTY loving , strong (and I mean STRONG) leaders? We have done our job... now is the time to tell the DEMS...unravel this mess you have let happen...start doing some logical things..put the BRAKES on the LEFTIST...enough with your idiologal nonsense!!!

Texas Jayde| 12.2.10 @ 9:10AM

exactly! which is why we don't want to get rid of the electoral college. if we do, the big cities, which are almost totally democrat, will control the presidential elections and keep electing leftists who will suck this country dry.

Once the newlyelected start their terms there will be a better opportunity to pressure those who were voted in as a NON to OBAMA ET AL by reminding them of the reason for their election. And, there may well be some more agressive individuals willing to buck the REPUBLIC ESTABLISHMENT and confront in the face LIES when they hear them. I certianly hope so. Like RAND PAUL for example.

canuckistani| 12.1.10 @ 6:41PM

The earmark vote has already failed. The GOP can't even whip their own caucus.

Let's see how many Paulian bills beyond procedurals get past first reading.....I'm betting on ZERO. That goes for sr and jr. Let's see if jr has the balls to filibuter the debt ceiling debate. He wouldn't risk his toupee on that moot point.

BHO has the GOP beat on taxes, you watch how they screw it up. The DADT report was non-news and still the GOP opposes it.
All of the HCR court cases will be dead on arrival and the refusal to extend employment benefits before Christmas will be the flavor of the coming year as painting the GOP as racist corporatist thugs.
Miller's refusal to concede and leave it to the courts smacks of voter disenfranchisement and kicks the TP populists in the groin with his petty hostile actions.

China is kicking our ass on growth, investing enormous sums on green energy and we have congressmen contemplating introducing "birther" bills this term. Who is un-American in this equation? If you don't know, then you need to look in the mirror, herr comrade.

Billy| 12.1.10 @ 11:41PM

China "investing enormous sums on green energy"? Hardy har har -- the most egregious polluter on the planet worried about the environment. Or do you mean they are building nuclear power plants? -- too bad you enviro-wackos have destroyed our ability to do so here.

RAMIII| 12.1.10 @ 10:04AM

Yes! Exactly. Will they do it?

The Washington Machine is "persuasive", corrupt and like falling into a snare (the more you try to get out or change it, the tighter it throttles you).

The newly elected politicians have their work cut out for them. Let us hope they have and maintain their courage. Methinks this paradoxial principle is at work here: If anyone wishes to save his "political life" he will lose it, if anyone loses his "political life" for "RIGHTeousness" sake he will find it. This after all is a moral battle and the immoral marxists are looting our country and its citizens with lies and thievery.

JH Lawson| 12.1.10 @ 10:48AM

I wish I thought the Republicans were strong enough to stand up to the establishment but I don't have high hopes. We're fighting evil and you have to be strong to do that and I just don't think they have it in them to do the dirty work we hired them to do.

Redstateboy| 12.1.10 @ 11:45AM

I'm with you!! and now the EPA has signed off on allowing 15% Ethanol in to the System!! Wait until people begin inadvertantly begin putting that in their Motorcycles, lawnmowers, Jet-ski's, ATV's and pre-2007 Cars!! Things are going to explode!

David| 12.2.10 @ 11:17AM

Ethanol, just another left wing agenda of destruction. They damn well know ethanol burns hotter, dirtier, and kills fuel economy. It will destroy engines, if, as my jet ski dealer advised, I run too long without adding a conditioner to my fuel. Another expense heaped on us.

Louis Jenkins| 12.1.10 @ 8:19AM

So where do we go from here? Obviously Osama ben Obama has no inkling of what needs to be done. Our noble Pretender n Chief means to rule one way or the other. I noted that the headlines showed our Republican leaders meeting with the Chief and, for apparent sakes, fell right into line with the "harmony and get along." We sent those people a message-ENOUGH already. And this is the results of the first meeting? Well, E. Texas rancher, you're correct.

"Boykin actually cited the 1970s as an era of superior economic performance." That may very well turn out to be true as Obama is less than Carter. Never thought I'd come to that.

Louis Jenkins| 12.1.10 @ 3:34PM

And now the US is going to send billions to the EU via the IMF. These people strangle the US and themselves on debt. We prop up the weasels, which makes us no better than they. The 1970s are an era of superior economic performance. Have we had enough yet?

DaveE.| 12.1.10 @ 9:39PM

I'm from England. Believe me, our lunatics have yours outranked by several orders of magnitude.
One thing I can't understand though is how Obummer got elected after proclaiming that energy costs would "necessarily skyrocket"!

J Mark| 12.2.10 @ 3:04AM

Dave, at first I wondered the same thing, but realized that the stupid people that voted for him thought that because it was "their" party that was going to stick it to us that they would somehow be exempt through new entitlements. Surely all of those tax increases would only apply to the "rich" that deserve to be knocked down a peg or two. The people that went out in droves and elected him did so for several reasons. Not the least of which was his skin color. Oh don't shout racist you'll sound like an Obamaite. I didn't care and still don't care about his skin color. What I cared about then as now was that the man didn't have the qualifications for the job. His background as a senator wasn't just weak it was flimsy. I didn't think he had spent enough time in federal politics to have the savvy and connections to run the country. I have to admit that I was wrong. He doesn't need the connecti0ns 0f a typical politician. He brought his own in the form of czars. Czars with the same goals and ambitions that he has. Ignore the Constitution, ignore what Joe the plumber thinks, and level the playing field regardless of how it affects individuals. He is a product of George Soros' socialism and communist philosophy. When he proclaimed the the United States is the greatest country on the face of the earth join me and we will change it, it was the only time he has ever actually told the truth that I can think of. He said it in front of millions and laughed behind their backs because he meant exactly what he said. Diabolical, just diabolical.

Another truth| 12.2.10 @ 8:07PM

He also inadvertently told us what he really thinks when he was at that party and referred to some Americans as angry folks who cling to their guns and religion.

David| 12.2.10 @ 11:25AM

Dave E. , You ask how could we have elected him...More amazing is we still know nothing about him. Not that it mattered in the least. He has apparently effectively sealed all documentation of his past. I still don't know how one individual can hold several social security numbers.

Linda| 12.7.10 @ 3:59AM

Hi Dave E., I live in the US and I don't understand how he got elected either. Especially when you consider, he was running his mouth about his new world order, loud and clear, starting two weeks into his campaign.

Linda | 12.7.10 @ 4:01AM

His new world order sounded a little to Hitler like to me from the gate.

Coal Miner's Son| 12.1.10 @ 8:23AM

I do seem to remember back during the presidential campaign, Obama saying he'd rather be a "great one term president than a mediocre two term president". Doesn't that seem odd? One would think if you were great in one term you'd almost certainly get a second. I guess his definition of a "great president" and ours are different.

L. Ross| 12.1.10 @ 11:32AM

Well said. I thought the same myself.

Tom Osterman| 12.1.10 @ 11:51AM

And his definition of "one term" may be longer than four years.

Linda| 12.7.10 @ 4:07AM

I assure you his idea of "One Term" is "til death do us part". Just like Hitler and Castro's idea of rule.

J Mark| 12.2.10 @ 3:12AM

He didn't figure on a second term because he expects the first one to last the rest of his life.
I hope I'm wrong about this, but I'm afraid of what he can do. He has proven that he has no qualms about doing and end around the Constitution. His meeting with the GOP this week is a feint. He has an agenda and all his chess pieces (czars) in place and Pelosi and Reid to run interference. Time will tell..........

Georgia from TEXAS| 12.2.10 @ 10:35AM

I totally agree! He has no intention of "running for President" again. In two years, at the rate we are going, there won't be an election. Mark my words!! The "Politician Game" will be no more! Something else I'd like you to consider, if there is no election, there most definitely will be a Revolution, if no where else BUT Texas!!!!!

Roberto| 12.1.10 @ 8:30AM

Congress has allowed themselves to become irrelevant over several decades and ceded near authoritarian power to the President and his minions. That cannot be corrected overnight. Up until now, Presidents have shown at least some restraint in abusing that power. This one won't. Short term Mr. Boehner, my Rep BTW, has to 'man up' and use his weapon of last resort, pound these lawless agencies with the purse strings. Should the EPA and NLRB go through with these abominations, the GOP needs the courage to ZERO OUT rogue agencies. He needs to publicly get that threat out on the table to put some fear into their machinations. When it comes down to our country's survival or the EPA, so long EPA. Did we really even need you? And that goes for several other agencies and cabinet level departments as well. Stopping them is no longer enough. We cannot wait until 2012 to begin their retreat, assuming the electorate doesn't get tricked again. Right now, despite their mid-term debacle, the neo-Marxists are still on the offensive. We're looking for at least a shot across their bow now, to show us and them that enough is enough. Radical revolution must be met with equally determined counter-revolution. When Obama et al. start squealing like stuck pigs, then you're doing what we sent you to do. Make the case against an authoritarian White House's fundamental transformation, and then, let loose all hell.

Svecky| 12.1.10 @ 12:18PM

"Up until now, Presidents have shown at least some restraint in abusing that power."

I'm not sure I agree with your detective work Chief!
Woodrow Wilson and (especially) FDR had TONS of experience abusing power. Something they never taught me in school. Hmmmm,...wonder why?

Frisbee| 12.1.10 @ 5:48PM

Right on Roberto. Unfortunately the president's "minions" include the Supreme Court, which has proven it cannot read but can make stuff up on a whim. (like Roe v Wade and Kelo v New London)

canuckistani| 12.1.10 @ 6:44PM

....or citizens united or Bush v Gore.

It goes both ways, with enormous consequences.

davelnaf| 12.1.10 @ 8:33AM

The majority have said they don’t want any more Obamism. But Obama has every intention of giving it to them anyway. He counts on his minions in government and the media not overly alarming the masses while this is being carried out. It helps that his people don’t go around with and loaded rifles and pistols at the ready to grimly dispatch counterrevolutionaries. But, when you’re not killing people, putting their economy against wall is the next best thing.

The Republican leadership understands they can’t compromise with Obama. This doesn’t mean they won’t be tempted to if the dems and their media minions take the chess board and give it a couple of shakes. You have to hand it to the left; they’re pretty good at this. But it’s the only thing their good at.

Republicans should be reminded often during the next two years that they can’t sit on their hands and let Obama and the dems self-destruct. They might be going down with them if they do.

Anthony| 12.1.10 @ 9:04AM

Like it or not, we are in a war with the Left. There is no common ground, no bipartisanship, and no backing down.
This is an ideological struggle with clearly defined political and cultural divides.
One side must prevail; that's how this will be decided.

canuckistani| 12.1.10 @ 6:48PM

And when you lose, what will you do? Hang yourself or wake up and get off your ass and become a useful citizen?
Dealing in absolutes are for cultists and children. Are you one?

Not long ago Catholics, Jews and Blacks were the scum of the earth to real Americans. (Many writers here still have the same stunted opinions). Women were chattels.
The good ole days.....er I mean.......

Wake up, dummy.

idalily| 12.1.10 @ 11:39PM

That is a flat out lie. Learn some history. The United States never advocated slavery. Compromises made were later broken, hence the Civil War where thousands of Americans died. It is EUROPE where millions of Jews were brutally murdered, it is EUROPE that tortured both Protestants and Catholics, not the US. Name one, just one country in the world where women in 1776 were NOT chattels. I'm sick and tired of these people who belittle the US for things other countries do far more often and more blatantly. Go away, learn some history, then come back and maybe you'll have a salient point to make. Personally, I doubt it.

Sam Vaughn| 12.1.10 @ 9:05AM

As simple as it sounds cheap and reliable energy is the single most important ingredient to a prosperous economy. Having been in technology for more than 25 years computers are at the heart of productivity improvements. Raise the cost of energy and the impact on our economy through the exponential reduction of productivity is scary to consider.

Robert Pinkerton| 12.1.10 @ 9:52AM

However, the alacrity with which we in the West have embraced computerization, has augmented our vulnerability. Electromagnetic pulse kills many electronics dead beyond possibility of resurrection. Yes, electromagnetic pulse comes from nuclear (fission- or fusion-bomb) detonation, but there also are other ways to generate this on a wide scale. Rest assred that this country's enemies are studying any means to create this.

Mark you, I enjoy my computer; but then I am a private citizen who uses it only recreationally. No lives would be lost if it suddenly died.

Ray| 12.1.10 @ 3:14PM

"However, the alacrity with which we in the West have embraced computerization, has augmented our vulnerability."

The same could be said about any technology that we utilize. Take large scale farming as an example. As most farmers rely upon hybrid grains as a seed stock, ones that are almost complete clones of each other, it wouldn't take much, say an invasive, veracious form of fungus (potato blight, anyone?), to destroy the majority of our grain supplies in America. That would be far more devastating than the loss of all electrical devices in an EMP disaster. Yet, despite the apparent increase in risk, that has not occurred. The question is: why?

Here's the thing, the actual risk of things like a blight or an EMP, the risk of widespread devastation is extremely low. Our technology and the abilities to improvise and adapt that this technology gives use, make such wide-spread devastation more and more unlikely. Yes, some people may want to set off an emp "bomb" and a few may actually be trying to develop one, but the actual risk of such a scenario occurring, the risk of someone successfully detonating an emp device, is VERY low thanks to the very technology you say is so vulnerable. That's why, even after more than 30 years of the knowledge of such a situation (the detonation of an emp device rendering the majority of electrical devices inoperable) being possible, it has not occurred anywhere in the world. It's far too difficult to create that kind of wide scale devastation these days because of our technology, not in spite of it.

As risks increase, so does our ability to combat those risks at a far greater rate than the increases in risks itself.

DaveE| 12.1.10 @ 10:00PM

I cannot agree I'm afraid. A Carrington event a Solar EMP could do a great deal of damage. A small event knocked out quite a large chunk of Canadian power a couple of years ago.

Brian H| 12.5.10 @ 11:28PM

Sam; email me at brianfh01-AT-yahoo-DOT-ca , and I'll give you some reason for hope, and lots of it, coming far sooner than you can imagine.

MikeD| 12.1.10 @ 9:07AM

I have a good friend who serves as a county sheriff. One night in a friend to friend conversation I asked him a hypothetical question: "If obama and his thugs forced the American people to take up arms to save their country would he order his deputies to fire on their friends and families?"

His answer was quick and decisive: "Hell no!" He is a demoncrap who admitted voting for barry the muslim and just as quickly stated that it was the worst mistake of his life. Our "messiah for life" had better be very afraid. The American people are patient, but that patience has a limit. I wonder how our Black citizens, and friends, and brothers will feel knowing that the black president they waited for so long will end up the most despised figure in American history?

The founding fathers made sure to include the right to bear arms in the Constitution; specifically to protect the people from their own government. The terrible possibility of using those arms for just that purpose grows closer every day. Are you listening barry? (Caps intentionally deleted.)

evan330@embarqmail.com| 12.1.10 @ 11:36AM

barry can take our guns, or at least, outlaw them, so time will tell how this will play out.

I am betting if we survive barry, the public will not allow another unvetted person to run for President.

Chalkdust| 12.1.10 @ 4:03PM

It's been two years now and I'm still waiting for the first state to develope a vetting proceedure and turn it into law.

BackToBasics| 12.1.10 @ 11:54PM

Yes, the ever-vigilent Republicans are overlooking this and primary reform too at the state level; like not allowing crossover votes from Democrats.

I hope the many state legislature seats the Repubs won on Nov 2 will change this and we'll see some action on these "small" but very important matters.

John Navratil| 12.1.10 @ 6:10PM

MikeD,

And just as every bad thing today is Bush's fault, the revulsion of Obama will be because of racism.

Ken (Old Texican)| 12.1.10 @ 9:44AM

Peter,
Once again, thank you for nailing it down.
I have become personally convinced that Obama and crew are trying to pull the "nails" holding our economic structure together.

There simply is no other explanation for their actions. It isn't "ideology" in my estimation, but an "end" they are working toward.

The two monkey wrenches in their plans are the internet, (and sites such as TAS here), and talk radio. Fox News is there as well.

Personally, I would genuinely appreciate it if you would research and pen an article about our only interim hope to thwart those communists, (pardon the shorthand).

That interim hope is that the new congress will in fact actually de-fund all those agencies.

Do you have some ideas about that might actually be achieved? If you could write it up, I bet a lot of us would forward it to our REPS to encourage them and/or frighten them into action.
Best regards

mikecampbelly2k| 12.1.10 @ 9:46AM

Why isn't anyone talking about open resistance to the "Dear Leader" in the White House? Nullification, defiance by large swaths of the productive population, states refusing to implement executive branch orders, etc, etc, Come on people, ramp it up a notch! Get the discussion moving!!!

A. C. Santore| 12.1.10 @ 9:48AM

First, it's not "this economic suicide for America's economy." It's "economic murder" in order to bring about the transformational change Obama has as his first priority.

Second, when will we learn that it is NOT what Obama says that matters, but what he does. The two are usually not congruent.

Petronius| 12.1.10 @ 10:19AM

To Obama and every other liberal, government is two things; a personal possession and a deus ex machina for getting their way. His voters matter. And they voted for him do dispossess us and ruin our lives. They are akin to the mobs of ancient Rome. But unlike senor Chavez, don't expect him to lodge the vagrants of D.C. in the White House as his Party is controlled by ultra rich Plutocrats. Nor will he turf people out of their Mcmansions to give to squatters as the latter can't pay any taxes, meaning no pay checks for the NEA members who live off that revenue. The only thing he accomplished is one facet of the Democrat dream by hand picking who among his followers gets showered with perks and privileges he controls at the expense of everybody else. The "stimulus" money that he gave to all his pet non profit pressure groups who lobbied to increase our taxes so they can all do next to nothing except that for a living will soon be gone. And if the House Republican leadership really has the stones to spank these babies and send them to bed without their subsidies, there will be riots in our streets. I'll be amazed if the bucks get stopped there. If so, consider yourselves warned.

buckeyeman| 12.1.10 @ 10:26AM

No one's said much about that pukefest held at the white house yesterday. Defund the EPA? "Will they do it?" Easy answer. No, they won't. Did you hear the saccharine kiss-up yesterday from McConnell, Boehner, et al? I know politics is involved, but these guys need to stop being "reasonable" for the cameras and show some guts. The problem is, you can't show what you don't have.

They should be pushing the fair tax, repeal of most social welfare programs, axing at least half of the federal departments, and let Obama "compromise" with those ideas. It won't happen. It's not just Obama saying "Screw you" to the voters.

martin j smith| 12.1.10 @ 10:40AM

Did you hear about the guy who told Pelosi that the voters kicked her out ( in essence ) Do you recall the guy who said" You Lie " ? This is the type of behavior that will be needed to confront Obama once the newbies arrive . And there is aot more that will be needed. These confrontations should not be gratuitous. They should be based on specific issues such as taxes, spending, the dollar and military/national security issues including foreign policy. The question that should repeatedly come up is this: Are you the President of United States( including people who disagree with you ) or does your ideology trump
everything ? Do you love this country or are you here to change it ways that are against the will of the majority regardless ? And, if the answer is "yes" to either of these the response whould be: The you should not be P{resident !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MoeBlotz| 12.1.10 @ 10:46AM

Barry and his minions are not smart enough to know what knowledge they lack in economics.

Tom Osterman| 12.1.10 @ 12:00PM

If this regime, along with numerous squishy moderate RINOs (calling Sen McConnell ...), refuse to listen to the voters, they will pay even more dearly in 2012.
Until then, we should take the advice of that devil Saul Alinsky. Ridicule is a powerful weapon, and we need to use it to laugh these buffoons to scorn.

Tim| 12.1.10 @ 11:45AM

Right on. Watch out when people start to talk about "fairness" (i.e. income redistribution). Obama might be the most "powerful" man on the planet, but he's definitely the most dangerous.

Theresa| 12.1.10 @ 12:01PM

I angers me that Obama is the great appeaser when it come to foreign nations but to the american people he literally thumbs his nose at us. Soros gave the warning that if he did not do his bidding then he would no longer support this president. Deep pockets and Obama's ego will be the forces that drive Obama's December agenda.

Just wondering| 12.1.10 @ 12:14PM

Plans for nuclear bombs have been stolen by the Chinese. Secret State Department memos are being posted on Wickileaks. Why can't we find out about the hidden Obama documents? What's he hiding? Obviously there is something nefarious in his records. Obviously it is something that he doesn't want the American people to know about him. Obviously it is something that would disrupt his position as President. Exposing the truth about this man should be a high priority. How did he get his college funding - on grants as a foreign national? Did he attend college claiming to be a citizen of the USA? Did he lie on his applications? He can't be thrown out of office for being unAmerican, but he can be thrown out of office for being not an American? If so, then everything he signed into law, including the Presidential decrees he signed would be negated as unlawful. Exposing the truth hidden in those hidden documents is essential for American freedom. Maybe the Chinese hackers who regularly penetrate the DOD computer net could be contracted to find out for us, you know, doing the job Americans don't want to do. Just wondering.

Dixie Pixie| 12.1.10 @ 1:44PM

Greetings Just Wondering

No one outside Obama's small circle of political confidants will see those documents until Obama's political career is over. The reason is simple, Obama has claimed different nationalities, religions and even personal names depending on what would further his interests in the Liberal bubble-sphere.

If all the hidden documents were placed side by side, it would be obvious that Obama was playing everyone for fools. Ergo the documents must be hidden at all costs.

Look on the bright side. When Obama is done, the Liberal Elite will release the documents. Liberals love to prove their intellectual superiority by showing how they outwitted everyone. They can not resist rubbing the conservatives nose in how they outwitted their own political process. So be of good cheer, as the documents will be released to the sound of liberals laughter.

Dixie Pixie| 12.1.10 @ 1:03PM

So now we know the Liberals response to the worst political “shellacking” in living memory.
The Administration's position is a variant on David Farragut's famous quote.
Specifiably it is “Damn the Voters, Full Speed Ahead for the Good Ship Socialist Agenda”.

Why can't the Ivy League Revolutionaries understand any government requires the consent of the governed to survive. If Obama tries to rule against the wishes of the people then a political blowback is a given. To try to rule by dictate is to pour gasoline on the political fires.

A good question is why is Obama be so politically blind and stupid to implement a discredited ideology against the wishes of the American people.

Desert Toad| 12.1.10 @ 1:04PM

Obama is not qualified to assume a wide stance in the mens room at the bus station.

You guys might have laughed at the idea it conveys: how can such a pu$$y be our President? But that laugh was mirthless, wasn't it? It was a knowing, head nodding, lip curling laugh that reflected your resentment.

It may be just as well if we can count on the Professor to be himself: the tight ideologue and the jerkus-maximus. If he were capable of exercising the least sure-enough political skill, the RINOs would trample the principled conservatives in a stampede to accommodation.

Let us pray, therefore, that Professor Obama continues to be Professor Obama.

And now back to Laurel and Hardy in "March of the Wooden Soldiers" (1933), sane holiday fare in the weird Obamanation.

John2| 12.1.10 @ 7:04PM

Tyrell sent me a fundraising appeal, claiming that he needs the money or his "WIT and wisdom" is at risk if I don't give. Hmmm. One thing Tyrell is not, is witty. He is not funny. He is not humorous. And neither are his bloggers.

Instead, AS feeds people's anger and resentment. The tight gripped smile with the upturned lip and flared nostril you get when reading their stuff is NOT humor. It is derision. Resentment. Try it now and see if it mirrors your face after reading say, this, from the post above: "How else can we interpret the decision of House Democrats to defy the American people, and reelect ultra-left San Francisco Democrat Nancy Pelosi as Minority Leader?"

Is that witty? Funny? Right wing entrepreneur/provocateurs make their money off anger and resentment and fear, not wit and not wisdom.

John, I liked your response.

But Bruce, the old "I am rubber and you are glue" is really not the most mature arguing technique but I will bite. Colbert and Stewart are not funny? And Tyrell, Hannity, O'Reilly are? Huh? Even Al Franken was a bit offbeat but still funny. Rush Limbaugh Is a Big Fat Liar, is pretty funny cause it is pretty much true. But "Barry Hussein is destroying the Constitution" is just really not very true or funny.

Bruce Berger| 12.2.10 @ 11:21AM

Wally,

The maturity of my response was commensurate with the maturity of your comment. Yes, I know, another rubber/glue response.

More importantly, could your comparisons be any more pathetic. You shouldn't be comparing Hannity/O'Reilly to Colbert/Stewart (professional comedians who better be funny or they are out of a job), but to Olbermann and Maddow. Those two make tons of money to make people like you feel good.

For the record, I don't watch Hannity or O'Reilly. I have listened to Limbaugh's show once in my life. I come by my conservative/libertarian views honestly.

One Big Assed Mistake America!

O.B.A.M.A.!

Oldefarte| 12.1.10 @ 2:31PM

Obama/Democrats are idealogues, not typical politicians. Sadly and stupidly, the Amercian voters made a huge mistake in November of 2008, for which they are now tremendously paying for. November 2010 represented a partial repair of that former disasterous and stupid decision to place in the most powerful job in the world, but the job is far from being over. If and until every local, state and national political position is filled by responsible Republicans [or Democrats, if any can be found], this country's path is on the road to destruction from those now in charge of running same. These liberal Democrats will not change, but will instead continue to use the political power that the voters of this country have ignorantly provided them with. IMO, they are simply trying to destoy this country from within, and have done a pretty good job of same in a very short time. Voters/taxpayers should never unerestimate the power of their vote, and should never vote blindly. Obviously, there will be the minority 13% that vote strictly upon racial lines, no matter the lack of qualifications that the racial candidates that they vote for have. I am asking/pleading with all of you to do as I previously did on 11/2/10, and that is to vote the straight Republican ticket, and thereafter, to begin the weeding out process of eliminating those elected Republicans who prove to be irresponsible or incapable of voting for the wellbeing of this country in the form of balancing the government's budget, eliminating waste/fraud,etc. If we can pledge to do this, we can in due time, restore our country to what it once was!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

youfamissim| 12.1.10 @ 2:55PM

As rightmindedmom et al pointed out, a huge lethal weapon which will be under the control of the Conservative majority come January is the purse strings. One can do wonders with this "atomic weapon." Let's make the most of our control of it until we can increase our control of the Senate and WH. As my Chinese professor in graduate school used to say, "No tickee, no testee."

Andrew_M_Garland | 12.1.10 @ 4:11PM

Another welcome weapon, the power of subpoena available to the House majority.

BillboTex| 12.2.10 @ 10:34AM

I am not sure to what extent the new House can use the "purse strings" to reduce government (because of Obama's veto power), However I am surprised no one has spoken much about a tax revolt (which would be immune to the "veto" attack)?

If as few as 2% of taxpayers simply sent in a straight 10% of their taxable income, the numbers would be large enough to prevent "political retaliation".

Andrew_M_Garland | 12.1.10 @ 4:09PM

Richard Epstein is a law professor at the University of Chicago. He described his conversations with Obama [edited]:

=== ===
The fundamental mistake of Obama's entire world view is that he treats contracts as devices for exploitation and not as devices for mutual gain, and he assumes that redistribution can take place without any negative impact upon production.
=== ===

This is the basis for the regulation and harassment of business in the US. The progressive and Democratic wiew is that business is theft. It must be closely regulated in detail to prevent the theives from stepping over the line. If business itself is supressed along the way, then it is worth it to stop the thievery.

The following is consistent with Obama's statements and actions: Obama is working hard to take the dead hand of capitalism off of the backs of the workers. After a period of dislocation, we will all be working a harder, poorer, but more satisfying life that is in accord with the principles of an overarching, federal community of values.

Lets talk about my basketball and golf prowess instead or wind farms and the sustainability of the Chevy Volt while we are at it. I am working on my moves to the right after listening to Barkley's critique. I will scream Bush tax cuts for the rich and then drive to the basket. It could work. What do you think he meant that I only go to the left? I am thinking about taking up hunting before the next election. I always thought Kerry looked real cute in his hunting outfit. On your other point I know that all Republicans are shocked that a politician might get mocked in our system. Why we never treated W or Sarah that way, did we? Now that I think about this, you know, I have to admit that what goes around, comes around. Oh well. We started this and it looks they are going to finish it. I want to ask all Republicans to join Wally in his happy ways and tell him we won, get over it. Tax cuts for the rich, baby.

Wasn't it the state of Texas who told Liza of the EPA to go take flying leap with her pre-puberty ideas? I can not understand why they have someone with no experience in all of these positions . We need to resist complying with these unlawful mandates they are not law, they can only work with in I think it is the clean air act of 2007, and that is all they can do . anything that comes up new has to be passed by the congress and the senate . We must write our reps and get them to pass a law to cut the EPA at least down to size, remind them they are not the ruler of this country or any other country. I wish no harm to Obama I just wish they would try to impeach him in 2011 , at least try . I am sure there is plenty to charge him with . if nothing else ignoring the constitution, which he took an oath to up hold and defend. Man this is harder than waiting on Clinton's term to expire.

John Navratil| 12.1.10 @ 6:20PM

Ken Roberts,

Much as I supported Clinton's impeachment - using your office to suborn perjury to keep one of the "little people" from having their day in court it tyranny - it was a mistake because it blew manure over everyone and made a martyr of that loveable rogue, the President.

I submitted this letter-to-the-editor which was published.

______________

Election 2010 voting is finished. It is time to contemplate the Democrat Party situation for president in 2012.

Some say Hillary Clinton will resign as Secretary of State to run against President Obama, although she denies it. Only two recent presidents have been challenged, both unsuccessfully. I believe 2012 will be different.

President Obama will see a frustrating two-year future as POTUS and will say to himself; "I am better than that. I have a lot of work left to do, and I need to get on with it." I predict, with this assessment, he will resign the presidency to accept appointment as Secretary-General of the United Nations succeeding Ban Ki-moon of South Korea whose first term expires on December 31, 2011 and whose reappointment is problematic.

Nobel Laureate Obama, together with recent laureates Jimmy Carter, Al Gore, and Paul Krugman, will quietly lobby the United Nations. U.N. policy regarding permanent members of the Security Council will make it necessary for Mr. Obama to renounce his U.S. citizenship. He will petition Kenya to reinstate his prior citizenship.

At his resignation address to the nation on Labor Day 2011 President Obama will raise clasped hands with his accompanying personal advisor Andy Stern ("'Workers of the world, unite?' It's not just a slogan anymore."), formerly of SEIU, and with the U.N.’s unofficial qualification of French linguistic skills aforethought Barack Obama will conclude his remarks with "Oui nous pouvons." (Yes we can)

John Navratil| 12.1.10 @ 7:28PM

As a work of fiction, it has something for everyone. For the Left, it is the happy ending that makes all the travails worthwhile. For the Right, it's every horror show; you've killed the monster, but you know there is a sequel and he'll be back and just as monstrous.

From a more realistic perspective, there was the thought that Clinton would try this. Why wouldn't he? Well being in charge of a body which owes its very existence to the U.S. is a bit of a come-down and those six-figure speaking fees are nice. Still an ideologue like Obama might find the role more to his "king of the world" persona. It might be just the thing to convince the U.S. that the U.N. really is worthless.

Seeing as the majority of voting age Americans are more interested in who is winning American Idol or Dancing with the Stars, reality shws such as Jersey Shore, and all of the sports facts there ever were, is it any wonder that the Progressives were able to walk in and take over? The USA is now governed on the principle of apathy. The rule of thumb is, "What do my friends think and do?" When the legislation that is now being enacted or rammed down the throats of the people begins to affect those who have been supporting it and are not considered "Elites", then the ranks of the disaffected will swell and begin the second revolution. Are you a plant or are you actually ignorant of what "Progressive" means? Study Margaret Sanger, Woodrow Wilson, Edward Bernays, Walter Lippmann. You cannot possibly find people with political/philosophical views more antithetical to the U.S. Constitution, the Republic, or the standards of our Founding Fathers. Progressivism is a very dark and ugly philosophy, straight from the bowels of hell. There is no philosophy further from the heart of G-d, and his love for the people he placed upon this planet. The EPA put bans for coal mining permits in 3 States a yr. or so ago. Our electric company asked, and received, a rate increase last yr.

Our heating bill for last Nov. was 146.00, the very next month it was over $360!

This elec. company also asked for a 2nd rate hike, and got it too. They stated it was the costs of coal. I hate to see our bill this winter!

Also the EPA stuck their nose in A-K Steel's coke plant, demanding they do more to stop pollution, A-K Steel said they would have to shut down the coke plant, since they didn't have the money to do what the EPA wants.

Remember, our steel companies have lost out much to China...as every industry in our country has!

Obama has already killed off more jobs in my area, as well as caused "energy costs to skyrocket."

I have become anti-Free trade, if it is not FAIR trade, then we are going to continue to see job losses, as Obama keeps adding more regulations and costs to an American company doing business here!

As for him resigning....people need to start screaming daily for him to do so....and if not, then where are those that will go in and usher him out of our White House?

NULLIFY,NULLIFY,NULLIFY, THERE IS A VERY SIMPLE SOLUTION TO THE EPA RULE OR POLICY MAKING PROCESS, AND THAT IS THE INDIVIDUAL STATE LEGISLATURES HAVE THE SUPREME AUTHORITY UNDER THE 10TH AMENDMENT TO OUR CONSTITUTION TO NULLIFY ANY AND ALL RULES OR POLICIES THAT THE EPA INVOKES AGAINST ANY CITY, COUNTY, WITHIN THE INDIVIDUAL STATE. THEREFORE, IF THE EPA INVOKES A CLEAN AIR RULE OR REGULATION UNDER THE SO-CALLED "CLEAN AIR ACT" THAT WOULD DEVISTATE A STATES EMPLOYMENT RATE, OR THE EPA INVOKES A RULE OR REGULATION THAT WOULD CREATE HARDSHIPS FOR A STATE TO MEET, THEN THE STATE LEGISLATURES COULD AND SHOULD NULLIFY ANY AND ALL EPA RULES THAT THEY DON'T APPROVE OF, AND BY NULLIFYING THESE RULES OR REGULATIONS THEN THE STATES WOULD SIMPLY ACT AS IF THE RULE OR REGULATION WOULD NOT EXIST.
