Latest Mad Muslim Would-Be Bomber Blows It
For better or worse, is there a pattern?
“A Christmas tree lighting? In Portland? Seriously?” Such was my flip reaction to news that 19-year-old Muslim Somali immigrant Mohamed Mohamud had attempted to set off a van full of explosives in downtown Portland’s Pioneer Courthouse Square Friday night during the city’s holiday tree lighting ceremony.
More news will come out today as Mohamud gets his first of many days in court, but what we think we know so for is that Mohamud picked the target because there were a lot of people there — including women and children — to be killed or maimed, and because nobody would see it coming.
So: Friday night, Mohamud was at the ceremony. He shouted “Allah Akbar!” (“God is Great”; though apparently it loses something in the translation) and dialed a number on a cell phone that he believed would trigger an explosive that he had planted nearby. Instead, the phone dialed the FBI. Agents arrested him on the spot.
The crowd, apparently, was never in any real danger. One of the young man’s co-religionists tipped the FBI off that Mohamud wanted to blow something up, and so agents had posed as Jihadists. They gave him a fake bomb and fake instructions for how to blow it up with that damning cell phone call.
Mohamud thus makes three in a string of recent examples of Islamists who have plotted unsuccessfully to blow up Americans on U.S. soil. Last month in another sting, the FBI arrested Farooque Ahmed in Virginia for casing the D.C. Metro system to plot a bomb attack. In May, Faisal Shahzad created but did not managed to detonate a bomb in New York’s Times Square. These incidents are linked, and so is their failure. The linkage is obvious. All men were Muslim immigrants who decided to bring Jihad to America. That it didn’t work out is not merely a matter of luck.
Four years ago in these cyber pages, I coined Lott’s Law of Diminishing Returns on (Islamic) Terrorism. For some reason, I noticed, a pattern had emerged in Western nations following September 11, 2001. Jihadist terror networks would get one really big bang for their buck, followed by a series of screwups and failures. This was true in the U.S. (9/11), the UK London Metro), Spain (Madrid), and Australia (Bali).
Moreover, I speculated why that was the case. I argued the world political situation had changed so that Islamo-terrorism now sets a six-part process in train:
One, after terror attacks, police and intelligence agencies start shaking down local Muslims for information and threatening awful repercussions if somebody doesn’t start talking.
Two, political correctness and civil liberties take a back seat to fears of more terrorism. Said police are given latitude by legislatures to do “what needs to be done.”
Three, the public attitudes of non-Muslims shift on a host of related issues: from immigration to racial profiling to torture. This gives elected officials and police the opportunity to act the part of restrained peacemaker compared to the angry mob.
Four, local Muslims feel the pressure and for whatever reason — fear of backlash, threat of deportation, or genuine patriotic sentiment — they start to publicly cooperate with local authorities, even while they whine about the unfairness. More important, they privately snitch on each other.
Five, those leaks prove invaluable. They work to sever the supply lines of money and information that run from international organizers to local terrorists.
Six, what the neighborhood division of the forces of darkness has left over is mostly the bottom of the barrel: would-be bombers with fantastic imaginations but zero expertise, loners, and screw-ups like Mohamed Mohamud, who couldn’t even wipe that smile off Santa’s face.
This doesn’t mean that Islamo terror attacks can’t succeed. It simply makes them much more difficult to pull off. One thing that I wondered about as wrote that article four years ago was whether the political situation would change enough to slow or stop the anti-terror process. Based on recent headlines, I think it’s fair to say: It hasn’t so far.

There is also no mention of the government writing him a large cheque, sending him to university at government expense or turning him into a rock star.

At least this attempt was stopped not by luck, or by incompetence, but by good law enforcement work, but our luck is running out. IMHO: The God of the Jews revealed Himself to men, and by His Spirit wrote through them what He wanted known by future generations. He also revealed His character. Whoever made up the Koran was from some other place. Check out what God (the real God) says about murderers and liars and who their "god" really is. Not the same....

The misunderstanding of God is probably not your fault as so many 'Christian denominations' have incorrectly taught about "who is Jesus" over the years. I've been there, too, with the caffeine.
But I refuse to cut down on it until some fungible bureaucrat at the Department of Caffeine Intake Oversight for Sector 228, earning only $130,000 a year (the bottom rung for government work), tells me that I have to give it up on pain of imprisonment.
And even if I were to apply for and receive an approved Caffeine Intake Quota Exemption per Excess Caffeine Intake Exemption Request Application #428441B/L-D, I'll be in real trouble with the bureaucrats over at the Office of Excess Carbon Emisions for the Northeast Quadrant once they install their Emissions Monitors in my home.

Perhaps the new program being bandied about the lame duck session of congress might do the trick: For every innocent American killed by a "man caused disaster" that poor Muslims have been forced to commit, we should throw five Republicans into the mouth of a volcano.
Kill two birds with one stone: Appease the Religion of Peace and get rid of the true evil that is the scourge of this planet.

Maybe we should have a moratorium on Muslims immigrating here from known terror hotspots. I'm a child of immigrants, my parents are Hindus who came here from India - guess what, we, along with Chinese Buddhists and Japanese Shintoists and many, many diverse groups, have all managed to assimilate. We don't blow up buildings. We don't get offended by the words "Merry Christmas". We love America.
However, ONE group of immigrants seems to want to kill the golden goose that improves their lives - the radical Muslims. Obviously this is only a tiny fraction of Muslims. There are communities of Muslims in the US that have been here since the 1800s. However, there is a fringe element who seek to come here specifically to blow us up.

As I've said, the real danger to this country is not these "masterminds" that make up the followers of Islam. They are fairly obvious. The real threat is made up of DemocRats that seem to enjoy exposing us to every concievable threat in the world. First of all, I am profoundly grateful that this fool's plot never had a prayer (heh heh) of succeeding. I am only slightly less grateful that it happened in a libtard asylum like Portland, where multi-culti has been the orthodoxy for decades now, but may be due for some thinking, among intellectually honest libtards...both of them. Let us watch this trial VERY closely, and see whether judge and jury can summon up the cojones to 1) convict, and 2) let this piece of human sewage rot in jail for the rest of his life. I'll bet that 1 happens but not 2...any takers?

How many incidents of Muslim terrorists being caught before they blow us up will it take for the drone to "get it" ? I have a strong suspicion that the vast majority of Americans know very well that terrorism that we are concerned with is based in Radical Islam which dominates the American Islamic landscape. If I were a Muslim concerned about my image in the United States I should be concerned.

I wish I had confidence that a jury and judge would assign this man, who in his heart wanted to murder hundreds of innocent men, women and children at a Christmas Tree lighting event, to life in prison at the very least. But this is not the first example of such an attempt. In Dallas, not very long ago, one Jordanian man named Smadi also thought he was dialing to blow up Fountain Place, a glass skinned high rise office building in downtown Dallas. This man was also 19. He was living here on an expired visa. His father claimed he was mentally ill. But the end result was a twenty year term. Twenty-four years for wanting in his heart to murder hundreds of people simply for being Americans. So excuse me if I don't have much faith in our criminal courts to do much to prevent terrorism. They don't seem to think it's much of a crime.

Yes, Mohamud was a screw-up, an easy mark. I did not read yet as his age is only 19, if he was also a product of the American public education as well as jihadist teaching. It would not surprise me at all if he was. Which one of the 2 is worse? That's a close call since bad American public schools are largely responsible for such a poorly educated electorate. The one will destroy the country just as much as the other so it's a toss-up.

I'm a professional!") though their faces are blocked out ("Yeah. That's the ticket! Blocked out!") and let the other TSA agent pat them down (C'mon. 1)If you read the Koran and it clearly says to Christians and Jews that they share the same god with Muslims.
2) when god says in the Koran kill all none believers ( He was directing his words at a battle where none Muslims and Muslims were fighting , so kill or be killed ( in the battle field only ) that time frame only not for ever
3) An eye for an eye in the Koran can be interpreted as kill children as the other killed my child DEAD WRONG . There is a precondition a clear verse says it in the Koran A person doesn't carry the sins of others Period .meaning your child doesn't carry his child murders father .
