Bristol had now given them two reasons to hate her: First, she
had been birthed into this world by Sarah Palin. Now, she had given
birth herself-when, according to the Death Culture’s dictates, she
should have instead checked into the nearest Planned Parenthood
clinic.
Again, a line was drawn in the sand. And now, every time Bristol
graces the floor on Dancing with the Stars, liberal women
cross that line and heap handfuls of sand at the struggling young
mom, who has done nothing to deserve their scorn.
Well, that’s why I intend to suffer through Dancing with the
Stars this Monday, and why I will vote for Bristol Palin as
much as I can on every phone line in the house. And because we,
too, have chosen life, with a bunch of kids in our house, including
foster children, I have a bunch of phones. Ah, the progressive
embrace of abortion is a demographic loser inA vote for Bristol
Palin on Monday is a vote against the Death Culture, NARAL, Planned
Parenthood, National Organization for Women, MSNBC, the New
York Times, Nancy Pelosi, the gals at The View, and
everything ugly bubbling and boiling inside the livid left.
Tonight, I intend to register my response.
Go get ‘em, Bristol!

This is similar to the way we got Hanoi Jane/Captain Ted to back down on the ban of the Confederate battle flag at Braves Games: give the hoi polloi a chance to express our opinion in a visible way, and we take it.
I do not text and would never watch DWTS since Helio Castroneves was invited on and actually won. However, I will cheer on those who do and will.
Mamie| 11.22.10 @ 8:13AM
The tacky "Dancing With The Stars" is a dance contest, and Bristol Palin is NOT the best dancer on the show.
The judges--using dance criteria for evaluation--always give higher points to other dancers. Since liberals may have a more heightened sense of FAIRNESS, I think this is why they are angry.
And, for your information, Both Bristol and Sarah are not giving their own childeren the "quality time" they deserve; instead, they are flaunting themselves in front of TV audiences--one on a weekly dance show (practice, practice, practice) and the other on a "reality show."
Here's one Republican who has had enough of these two Alaskan hussies.
Admirable mothers? Hardly.
I know that John McCain rues the day he ever associated himself with Sarah P.
Junior Leaguer of Hueston| 11.22.10 @ 8:25AM
Believe me, the McCains wish they had never heard of Sarah.
Sarah's support base comes from the lower-class Republicans--the less educated, the less refined.
The Houston, Texas old Republicans will never support her and her foul-mouthed and sexually-active brood.
Even Spread-Your-Legs Sarah had Bristol out of wedlock. I said, "out of wedlock."
Junior Leaguer of Houston| 11.22.10 @ 8:31AM
Speaking of tacky, I can't think of any family that exhibits more bad taste than the Palins.
Even the youngest daughter texted her friends using all kinds of profanities and calling a male acquaintance a "fag."
And Bristol and Levy's family! Levy's mother was arrested for illegal drug sales! A pusher!
Trailer Trash? Close to it, I say.
Elizabeth G.| 11.22.10 @ 8:36AM
I agree with you, Junior Leaguer.
From the beginning I sensed a whiff of the common about the Palins. The old Republican guard cannot stand her.
I know one thing: she will never have my support. I do not like the direction the Republicans are taking, and since I am fiscally conservative, I don't know what to do.
Time for a third party, in my opinion.

Alaska is not like the "Lower 48." It is a world unto itself. As for Sarah Palin representing those sacred heartland values, keep in mind that she was bitterly disliked by a wide cross-section of people in her state, a reality not unrrelated to her sudden, unexplained resignation as governor.
You culture warrirors are all alike. You have a need to feel mocked, ridiculed and persecuted, all the better to project loathing onto your imagined tormentors. The truth is most Americans, on the coasts or anywhere else, could care less about this absurd and arrogant woman.
John Navratil| 11.22.10 @ 1:25PM
For someone for whom most people, according to you, could care less, she sure generates a lot of excitement.
Is it really not caring or actual antipathy? Methinks the latter, and if so there must be something about her to which you object?
And now, we culture warriors are all alike projecting loathing on our imagined tormentors. Have you looked in the mirror, today?

McCain was everything you say he is and deserves utmost honor and respect for his service. However, he is more than that. How someone sworn to support and defend the Constitution could author McCain-Feingold is beyond me. Unfortunately, he wasn't alone in this travesty.

yes, all us "lower class Republicans", like the people who got Reagan elected, twice. Us damned commoners that brought down the wall and hunted down thugs like Saddam and KSM, while cowards like you hid behind your momma's skirts and jeered while your betters did the real work of the grownups, the kind that never gets done in all your jaunts down at the yacht club.
You characterize yourself as the "old Republicans"; well, get ye to rest home. Step aside, go and sit on your rocking chairs and swap dementia-addled stories about the glory days of Ford and detente, when the "right sort" ran the GOP, and "reached across the aisle" to achieve the ultimate victory for your kind: a spineless, mushy, cream o' wheat compromise with the enemies of our freedoms. Go and join hands with those who spit on our history, our liberties, our faith and culture. Do what you must, but STAY OUT OF OUR WAY.

SonOfSam (what a horrible serial-killer moniker), please check your blood pressure. I would not want to be the cause of your stroke.
And K.M., you're right Track was the out-of-wedlock child of dear Sarah. But who, I ask you, can keep these children's names in order: There's Trig, Track, Trick, and, God knows how I try, I can't recall the other names of her brood, other than Bristol . . . there's a younger daughter in there somewhere, a younger daughter that laces her messages with profanities . . .
33 cents| 11.22.10 @ 2:07PM
The trash-talkin' younger daughter's name is Trish (I kid you not!)
And I've heard that Sarah is pregnant again! Can you believe it! I was horrified when I heard it.
John Navratil| 11.22.10 @ 3:28PM
33 cents,
You can't find anything more important to be horrified about? When you are drawing your Social Security, you'll thank God that there are younger people working to pay those taxes.
By the way, there is no Trish (I kid you not! see below). And just what motivates you to concern yourself with whether or not Palin is or is not pregnant? Slow news day? Watching to much Rick Sanchez on CNN? That rumor is from the summer before last.
Oldefarte| 11.22.10 @ 2:52PM
Yeah, maybe they should have named them Reginal, Heathcliff, etc [or no doubt your preferred Jarome, Jamal, Jamarcus, Tashumbeh, George Washington, Lionel, etc], huh??????
John Navratil| 11.22.10 @ 3:05PM
Mamie,
You might, in addition to getting the names straight, hone your message as to the circumstances of Track's birth.
Your statement: Even Spread-Your-Legs Sarah had Bristol out of wedlock. I said, "out of wedlock." strongly implies birth to an unmarried mother. Track was born almost precisely eight months AFTER the Palins were married.
It's clear there was sex before marriage, but that's a bit different from "having" a child out of wedlock, don't you think?
And "33 cents" while you can't be bothered to get the names straight, either, they are:
Track, Bristol, Willow, Piper and Trig. Not a Trish in the bunch, (I kid you not!).
Trig, by the way is Norse, and I know a wonderful lady named Trigg who used to play basketball for Texas A&M.

Mamie,
DWTS in a television show, not a dance contest. It sells products into home which requires a maximum number of eyeballs watching. My wife, who was a dancer in her youth, loves it. The rules are about getting the audience to participate, not the judges. Why? So they'll tune in for the next episode to see if they backed the right horse. From a marketing perspective it's brilliant.
My only interest in the show is to see its effect on the effetes. Lovely!
Susie Q| 11.22.10 @ 10:27AM
First of all, DWTS is NOT a dance contest; it is a popularity contest and a dancing exhibition. If it were a contest, only the judges scores would matter. However, when you allow the public to vote, they can vote for whomever they want to win.
Second, we conservatives have had enough of you RINO hussies.
Mamie| 11.22.10 @ 11:07AM
You haven't heard the last of me, Miss Susie Q.
My favorite Republican Barbara Bush dislikes Sarah Palin with a passion. If you don't believe me, tune in to today's Larry King show, and you will hear Barbara tell Sarah to "stay in Alaska."
The old guard of educated Republicans are not going to turn over our party to a low-class, politically inept from the wilds of Alaska. We are going to oppose her every step of the way.
So you and your American Spectator riffraff can keep cheering for your darling Sarah all you like, but she will nevah . . . nevah make it to the White House (Heaven forbid!)
Junior Leaguer from Houston| 11.22.10 @ 11:09AM
Way to go, Mamie! You tell 'em!
Edward White| 11.22.10 @ 11:28AM
I admire the senior George Bush and his wife, Barbara. And I appreciate Barbara's opposition to Palin's political ambitions.
The readers of AmSpec must think there is a confederacy of opinion among Republican Conservatives. It's time they learn that there isn't.
We do not speak in a monolithic voice. There is diversity in the party, as there should be.
I for one am a fiscal conservative but a cultural liberal. I am firmly against the grip the Christian Fundamentalist Right-Wingers have on my beloved party right now. It disgusts me to think that my party could support someone as crude and uneducated as Sarah Palin.
Come on Republicans, and speak out against what's happpening to our grand old party.

Ed White=pompous ass
clarityrising| 11.22.10 @ 12:06PM
Uneducated? By what proof and standard? By yours? The Republican party was founded by god-loving Christians, not that I am one, mind you, but I do not denigrate its origins. It's people like you with slipping moral standards that have caused it to be different. Hmm, and when the GOP alienates the conservative Christian base, they lose elections. So I think your education is lacking.
Seek| 11.22.10 @ 12:53PM
Most people in this country are not Christian fundamentalists. Never were either.
SonOfSam| 11.22.10 @ 12:50PM
It disgusts me to think that you could be so stupid as to believe that you are a Republican. Just for the record, I am not now, nor have ever been a Christian of any kind. Unlike you however, I'm not a bigot, and I do not look down upon those whose faith differs from mine. You can worship at the altar of Babs, Poppy Bush, Jerry Ford, Bob Dole, John McCain and the rest of the LOSERS you so admire. I happen to be a Reagan conservative...you know, the kind that remains true to conservative principles and actually WINS elections

Lucybobaloo| 11.24.10 @ 7:25PM
Edward: I admire both the Bush's but I don't agree with everything they say and do. And Barbara's comments about Sarah Palin diminishes Barbara Bush, in my eyes. But of course it doesn't matter what I think because I am only a lowly Christian Fundamentalist Right-Winger. I only vote Republican because it is usually the lesser of two evils. If the Tea Party should become a Political Party I will quit voting Republican. You fight us too much and see what you will be left with..... a minority party.

SonOfSam| 11.22.10 @ 12:45PM
Great, so you admit that you represent the past, while WE are the future. Frankly, I don't give a frog's fat ass what "Babs" thinks of Sarah Palin, or about anything for that matter. Her hubby managed to piss away the greatest political revolution in modern times, and get stomped like a narc at a biker rally by a smirking flim-flam artist posing as the governor of Arkansas. Should we be taking pointers from their kind? Hardly!

Ms. Mamie:
I don't sit around anticipating Barbara Bush's next utterance. Whether Sarah makes it to the White House is immaterial to me at this point because she has not announced as a candidate.
However, you being a viewer of Larry King says everything about you I need to know: you are not half the woman Sarah is and you probably should never attempt to attain such a goal. Your estrogen level is obviously way too low.
Tryon Gated Community| 11.22.10 @ 2:16PM
I don't imagine Mamie watches Larry King.
She probably read about Barbara's appearance on Larry King in the newspaper.
I, too, admire the distinguished Mrs. Bush. She had what you derisively dismiss as "class."
But class is what our country needs--the kind the old Republicans exhibited. Bring them back. Please, bring them back.
Son Of Sam| 11.22.10 @ 9:01PM
Oh please!!! Did "class" bring down the Berlin Wall? Did "class" free the captive nations of Europe? Did "class" lower taxes or encourage those grubby little entrepreneurs that actually MAKE the stuff that you insufferable blue bloods love to buy with your trust fund?
I'll tell you what "class" is good for: making a spoiled brat from a rich family into an insufferable ass because they went to Brown and got a degree in 18th century French theater or "womens studies" or some other such rot. That way, they can feel all smug and cozy while they peer down their noses at someone who, oh, I don't know, went to WPI and learned how to program computers. All that grubby, nasty actually WORKING...icky, its so "classless"

Ever stop to think that Bristol most likely "practices" during the day (kid most likely with her or with a babysitter...or god forbid...in day care!) and then comes home at say, 5pm or 6pm like millions of working Mom's across America?!? Same with her mother. If you ever watched her interviews or even her new show you would see that most of her "work" is done via remote feed in her studio at home! OBTW, what's wrong with Todd taking care of the kids while Mom works? Is that only ok for Men, but not women?
Republican??? Yea, and I am the last King of Siam!
Lucybobaloo| 11.24.10 @ 7:06PM
How do you know how John McCain feels and what does it matter? There are millions of people that love Sarah Palin and her whole family! You say that liberals have a more heightened sense of Fairness? What rock did you crawl out from under? What is fair about judging Bristol who is not a dance by the same standards you judge Jennifer who was a star in Dirty Dancing along with Patrick Swayze. Of course Bristol couldn't hope to compete with that and that is where the audience voting comes in. It helps even up the voting and gives everyone a fair chance. Bristol started out slow but kept improving (as did all the others) and at the end was very impressive. I admire Bristol for the courage it took to do what she did and for the partner she had that was able to bring that out of her. Regarding their Motherhood abilities, I don't think either you or I have a right to judge them on that. Bristol's baby looks healthy and happy and so do the other Palin kids. God bless them! This is from a lower-class Republican who is so happy that Sarah showed up on the American scene!!!

KyMouse| 11.22.10 @ 9:55AM
And I suppose, Gurureoul, that you obeyed every wise instruction that your parents ever gave you?
Every one of us is a sinner, but it takes a special kind of evil to laugh about someone else's problems. Bristol Palin is no more a paragon of virtue that you or I, but she deserves credit for not killing her baby.
As many as 9 out of 10 babies who are even just suspected of having Down Syndrome are killed before birth. Bristol's child is having the opportunity to live the life God has given him. Many people with Down Syndrome become productive members of society, and all deserve the chance to make what they can of their lives -- just like you and me.

Lincoln was a rube, a backwoods rail splitting lawyer. And he was one of us. If you "old guard" repubs want to ever see the inside of the White House again, you need us Redneck Republicans.

And how many of these esteemed "ladies" and "gentlemen" smile and nod and yes, O yes, abort those extraneous people? Don't let them suffer lives "not worth living"!
I've worked with guys who were crawling with tats, who worked with me to help people who never hurt a soul in all their lives. I've also had the eye opening experience of being cussed out by some wrinkly middle aged crone in her Volvo, AFTER she almost ran over me and one of my charges (who was in a wheelchair btw). Was she classy when she called me a "retard"? Or was she referring to the guy in the wheelchair?
Funnily enough, her car had a "be a voice for choice" bumper sticker, right next to the Kerry for President" sticker. Is that what you mean by class, you steaming pile of mule dung?

The Left also hates the Palin family Being a family in the traditional sense, with its devotion to each other.
The Left, believing it had already destroyed the notion of a 'nuclear family' (making way for them to fill the void with a nanny-state), is outraged that anyone has the gall to reassert the concept.

Not so fast, Mr. Prole. There are plenty of "Leftists" (real and imagined) with stable and devoted families. The highest divorce rates in the country, by the way, have occurred in Red States.
John Navratil| 11.22.10 @ 4:15PM
Seek,
Rubbish! See: http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/mardiv.htm#state_tables
Obviously, you cannot get divorces where there are no marriages, so one must compare the population divorce rates against the marriage rates of the same population.
What you see is divorce rates roughly half the marriage rate all over the place (51%) with a standard deviation of (10%).
The states with the lowest divorce to marriage rates (outside the standard deviation) are: DC, Iowa, Mass., and South Dakota. Those with the highest are Arizona, Colorado, Delaware, Mississippi, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Washington (state).
Of course, your statistics may support your argument. Would you like to provide them?
John Navratil| 11.22.10 @ 4:23PM
PS.
The data for Hawaii didn't include divorce rates and was excluded. The data for Nevada was intentionally excluded as it (Las Vegas, basically) had a marriage rate roughly four times the next highest states.

Bristol Palin deserves credit...She soaked up the DANCING LESSONS and improved with speed, all in good cheer....and with a bright smile....You got to Love her. Her choice for LIFE came natural... like it has for most of us. Through ignorance and lack of patience in GOD'S plan .... the Libs have chosen, to decrease their NUMBERS and self- anniliate.....good news!!! PRO-LIFE is in, the pendulum has swung!!!
Lindsey Lohan| 11.22.10 @ 8:12AM
I like Sarah because she stands for God, guns, American oil, strong defense, no illegal immigration, less government, less taxes, less abortion.
Sarah's helped get a slew of Conservatives elected, helped send home many Democrats, stopped Obamacare in its tracks last year when she CORRECTLY called the death panels, has been instrumental in helping the TEA Party movement hand the control of the country back to the people, has brought Conservatism out of the graveyard and back as a fighting force, has gotten her book to #1, has gotten record ratings for TLC, has a daughter who has gotten more record ratings for DWTS and is a general pain in the ass to the Left.
So yeah, I'll probably vote for Bristol tonight too.
Lullabys, Legends and Lies| 11.22.10 @ 8:22AM
I can't stand watching reality shows, but as of last week, I've been watching Sarah Palin's Alaska (or at least my TV has been tuned to that channel). Now I wouldn't watch DWTS if you paid me too, or at least that is until today. Tonight I'm going to be tuned in, and I'm going to try like hell to call in to vote for Bristol as well (without being paid to do it either). I could care less if she's a good dancer or not, but I certainly do care "now" if she wins or not. This dancing show unbelievable, has become another small battle, in the ever growing battle between the Left and the Right (who saw this one coming?). Especially after somebody, obviously on "Their" side, had the nerve to mail a fake Biological Attack letter to the show, addressed to her. Huh, what? They did what? It's a friggin' dance show people, A FRIGGIN' DANCE SHOW!! Are you for real? So because of that reaction to her, I know that "They" are going to turn out to vote her out tonight, which is exactly why "We" must turn out, to make sure she wins tonight. So please join me in wasting an hour of your life tonight (that you'll never get back), and send a message which will be impossible for "Them" to swallow, which is that there's more of "Us" out there, than there are of "Them". And then after Bristol wins tonight, let's never talk about this again!! Never, Ever, talk about this again!! Thank you all!!
Oh yeah, by the way, does anybody know what channel, and what time this show is on?
Ted R.| 11.22.10 @ 9:51AM
Pretty ludicrous that our political contests take this kind of form. Anyway, as a Lib I think it's hilarious that Bristol is winning this way. This should be a humble reminder to all of us - in a democracy, it is often not the best or the most 'fleet of foot' who come out on top.
If the young lady has any character (in which case she certainly would have fallen a good ways from the tree), she should not be happy that she's been winning this way. Nonetheless, Bristol's success is a wonderful metaphor for her mother's; accolades and attention for who is she and what she represents, rather than any actual accomplishment. I think the broader viewing public sees it this way, too. So GO Bristol! I know I'll be texting in your support tonight...!
Ammo Guy| 11.22.10 @ 12:32PM
As opposed to Obama's numerous "actual accomplishments", of course.

Nice to see your hubris in action. Someone who thinks they are the right man for the job is usually lacking in the one necessary virtue- humility. Humility is what allows us to learn, unlike the Narcissist-in-Chief who thinks we are too stupid to understand his ideas. Now, there is an individual who is totally incapable of learning- he is just SO SMART that us rubes have nothing to teach him; he is SO SMART that he is beyond our understanding and appreciate him. Imagine the audacity of a Liberal to tell us how bad Palin is.
Who is it who is running all branches of government now? Who has been running it these last almost two years? Who has given us almost two years of record deficits, record unemployment, longest jobless stretch since the 1930's, record bank failures, record foreclosures, record trade deficits, record poverty rate, failing dollar, national poverty at record highest level, foreign policy disasters, record number of golf games played by a president, record death toll in Afghanistan, record number of food stamp recipients, consumer confidence at record lows?
I can tell you it was NOT Sarah Palin who did this! Sarah Palin has been one of the common sense voices fighting this nonsense and the EPIC FAIL of Progressive Liberalism.

I've seen the work of The One, and the rest of his liberal shills: it's pretty awful. Oh, and BTW: Gov Palin's achievements are rather more remarkable than President MomJeans, insofar as she never had to rely on the Guilt vote. Did I also mention that Palin has also held ACTUAL jobs in an ACTUAL economy, unlike President Community Organizer?
See you in November 2012. Loser.

The best part about being a conservative is reading posts/replies from other cons who are witty, smart, and engaging when they reply to the haters and baiters who've got their panties in such a bunch over the Palin women tonight. Cons almost always use humor, subtle or obvious, to make their points, whereas Libs most often melt down into incoherent rage, rants and typos. I'm proud to be a conservative!
alaskan| 11.22.10 @ 10:55PM
Ted, two big reasons why you cannot defeat us. First, you are trying to sell a product that isn't selling. You, as a lib lefty, want a big government, high taxes, to run our lives. Since you and most of your ilk do not work and pay taxes, you do not care about taxes.
Second, your sales pitch is to insult and demonize the customer you are trying to convince. If you got a bad product, which you do, try to be nice and logical. Of course, can't blame you, Obama and the rest can't sell it, and they accuse us of being too dumb to know what is good for us. So you are following your Master.

I have never watched this DWTS old media mind-rot, but will do so tonight just to vote for Bristol. By all accounts, the other contestants are professional dancers or have previous experience as dancers. Could be I read the wrong sites...however, many commenters on those sites do say that Bristol has shown the most improvement by working at it hard. If libtards want to politicize it, then fine, more people who wouldn't normally care a rat's behind, will vote.

Penny in BC, you are misinformed. Jennifer took dance training more than thirty years ago in order to qualify for a movie with John Travolta. Her profession is actress. She is not a professional dancer and neither is the second place winner. He is a Disney Actor. Jennifer is fifty years old, so a twenty year old should be able to hold her own. However, she just didn't qualify as a winner. that these folks are "professional" dancers is a common rumor being spread by conservatives in America. You have to be there to appreciate it.

Well, as an anti-abortion conservative gay man I do find it rather refreshing that Bristol Palin birthed her child, and her mom too. But did she also have to call people "faggots" too? Though, perhaps all the normal young gentlemen should keep their pants zipped, though, right? I don't know, I have had no skin in the game.
But good thing I'm around, though, for I still have to rescue young gay men tossed out by good fine Christian families who thankfully did not abort the baby boy they unfortunately found out later was gay. Why it's OK to toss a late teen boy into the streets and tell him to get lost I don't know. That's between his parents and their God, I guess. But still, that's what I keep encountering, personally, at the rate of five or six a year, for some 35 years now. My friends give me similar statistics. Though it's declining, so I guess it is getting better. Me and my friends are like little social service mentoring centers for the boys you birthed, nurtured into being gay (so many claim) and then tossed. It's like a conveyer belt sometimes. Or like a latter day abortion, of sorts, I think. Don't worry, though, there's no taxpayer dollars involved and we steer them into owning beauty salons, or becoming flight attendants, florists or some other useful and taxpaying occupation, and try to get them into nice relationships with guys their age. We're like yentas, in a way. Weird, eh? Go figure.
Ray| 11.22.10 @ 12:18PM
"Why it's OK to toss a late teen boy into the streets and tell him to get lost I don't know. "
This may come as a surprise to you, but, unlike a fetus, a "late teen boy" actually has the means of surviving after being "'tossed out" onto the "street."
For tens of thousands of years, for the majority of human history, "late teen boys" have left their families, traveled to unknown, and, sometimes, inhospitable environments and have, more often than not, survived, an even thrived. Who do you think were the men who traveled the "high seas," the men who risked life and limb exploring the world and discovering all the wonders it contained. anyways, a bunch of 20 somethings fresh out of college? No most of them were "late teen boys" ages 13 to 19.
A "late teen boy" is what normally would be described as a "man,' in a culture that doesn't coddle their own youths to such an extent that the difference between youths and adults no long hold much meaning.
So, a "late teen boy" is "tossed out onto the street?" Hay, welcome to the human race!
Jim Hlavac | 11.22.10 @ 11:00PM
Ray, you are right. And those young gay men tossed out of their homes do survive. And mighty well, which seems to just baffle you all. For we're so, um, gay and happy. And that's why we should be accorded the same respect as all the other taxpaying American citizens. For we're rugged individualists too. You'll be pleased to know, perhaps, that when I was 20 I left home, though my mom had no beef with me for being gay, but my two brothers joined the air force and I didn't think I was military material, and I moved to San Francisco. And you know what Ray? Too liberal for me. So I moved to Louisiana. Weird eh? A sort of redneck queer. Though it's pretty common around these parts. Who knows, we might even be voting Republican. We like rugged individualistic men, for sure. :)
Happy Thanksgiving.

"In truth, the "pro-choice" position is not about choice; it is about self. Those who are "pro-choice" are primarily, at their core, pro-self. Thus, they measure Sarah Palin's choice against their own choices, and it fills them with bitterness."
THANK YOU, Mr. Kengor, for that PERFECT summation of the narcissistic rot that has always been at the core of the pro-abortion argument!
MAJ Mike| 11.22.10 @ 12:35PM
Bristol is playing the game by the rules. DWTS allows 50% credit for public votes. These are the same rules for everyone dancing on the show.
If Bristol Palin is successful in this competition because she's following the rules and standards as created by the show's producers, the perhaps she's too much of a positive example for the DemCong.
If you don't like the rules, don't participate in the game.
Ray| 11.22.10 @ 12:55PM
This whole situation is hilarious, on both sides of the "issue."
First of all, this is entertainment, not some dire test of human survival, when the "winner" will determine the outcome of the lives of hundreds of people, so what's the big deal? It's a dance show, put on for our entertainment.
Second of all, I've heard a lot of people claim that Bristol isn't a good dancer and shouldn't advance, but that's their own opinion and others may not feel that way. If you think someone is a better dancer, then vote for that someone. If they don't win? Oh well, that's life. I personally thought that Tanya Harding was a much better skater than Nancy Karrigan, but guess who "won?" Do I obsess about that and claim that Nancy won because of some totally unrelated factor, like who here parents are? No, I just accept her victory and "move on." In the "grand scheme of things," it doesn't really matter.
Lastly, this whole situation exposes the fact that, yes, some people are controversial, but it's not because of their actions, it's because of the believes of those who find that person "controversial.' There's nothing "controversial," or even surprising, about that, it's been a part of human nature for as long as there's been humans. Everyone should just learn to deal with it.
So, if you like the show and plan to vote, then vote for whomever you want, for whatever reason you think is appropriate. If your chosen person doesn't win, oh well, I guess more people didn't feel the way you did. Don't assign motives to the people who voted for someone else. You don't know why those people voted the way they did, so any attempt to assign motives only highlights you're own true motives, that you didn't support a given "candidate" for their own accomplishments or achievements, you supported them in order to spite someone else. A rather selfish, childish attitude, if you ask me.
Ray| 11.22.10 @ 1:17PM
Also, I fond it especially hilarious when people "discuss" WHY she's even on the show. Most of those who find her "unacceptable" say that the producers only have her on the show because she's Sarah's daughter, as if some type of political influence, some type of political "corruption" in involved. I don't see it that way.
Bristol is an attractive young woman, one who is well-know (yes, thanks to her mother, as if that makes any difference), and she's "controversial, mostly because of her mother, which makes her pretty much guaranteed to draw a larger viewership than most other "contestants."
So, what we have is a "contestant" who is attractive, popular, and, best of all, "controversial,' a perfect TV star! If I were the producers, I'd have her on too, as that is bound to increase your ratings!
JeffW| 11.22.10 @ 2:04PM
You nailed it Ray! And I would be willing to bet all thos same people screaming she is only on the show because of her mother see no hypocrisy that Paris Hilton fits that same category and is only famous for being famous.
Ann Anon| 11.24.10 @ 6:13PM
The producers had Bristol on in order to increase their ratings, of course. And, it worked, you know. Although this is said to be "the most watched show of the season", every little bit helps!I am willing to bet there has never been a shamelessly more left wing show that attracted more right wing people, or to use the Republican contrived word, sheeple. Let's get over it. OK?
Al Adab| 11.22.10 @ 1:56PM
Let Bristol cash in however she can. Why should we obsess about an inane TV show when significant issues are being acted upon by a lame duck Congress just repudiated? Is this a modern example of bread and circuses?

If she wins the entire contest think of all the tvs which will bite the dust out of uncontrolled self-righteous anger & rage. Maybe these people will then pick up a book, or even The Bible & educate themselves instead of wasting brain cells in front of the "boob tube". Y'mean, she's motivated by money?? Why, that's AWFUL! You don't see liberals motivated by money---that's why so many of them use their Interpretive Dance degrees to work at Starbucks or Denny's.
Now, fill up my coffee cup and get lost. I've got work to do, and the proletariat ain't gonna oppress itself, y'know.

I'm surprised anyone things that DWTS is a real contest. I was forced to watch it twice when visiting relatives insisted on seeing it. The on-site judging is a farce, and the audience voting is ignored in favor of whom the producers think will aid the ratings the most.

Sarah Palin shares these attributes with the great silent American majority:
Inner-directed, authentic and genuine, self-acceptance, everything she seems to be. Self-assured, self-generating, energetic, adaptable, physically attractive and popular. Ambitious to improve self, becoming outstanding, a kind of human ideal, embodying widely admired qualities. Others are often motivated to want to be like her in some positive way.
In short, Sarah dazzles!!
Leftist (Democrats, Progressives, Socialists) & Old Guard Snooty GOP Snobs Attributes (not a dime's worth of difference):
Impress others with their spurious superiority, constantly promoting themselves. Narcissistic, with grandiose, inflated notions about themselves and their talents. Arrogance and contempt for others as a defense against feeling envious and jealous of others and their success.
Exploitative and opportunistic, devious and deceptive so that their mistakes and wrongdoings will not be exposed. Untrustworthy, maliciously betraying or sabotaging others to triumph over them. Delusionally vindictive, attempting to ruin others. Relentless, obsessive about destroying whatever reminds them of their own shortcomings and failures.
Crystal Clear… GO SARAH GO!!!

Among the things that cross my mind in this absurd targeting by the liberal media: Why would such polished, worldy and far-above-us-simple-folk types CARE about a mere TV show, produced for the shallow entertainment of the proletariat?
...because it lets the proletariat know that their opinions MATTER. And that, fellow citizens is what the intelligentsia fears the most. Spoils their monopoly on fashioning the social fabric. Just like Sarah Palin's very EXISTENCE in the public eye does, as well.
I dislike dancing and I avoid TV. I'll find the station tonight, and vote as often as I'm allowed. You go, Bristol: we'll all be here at home, clinging to our guns 'n religion, cheering you forward!
Hi, I'm Pro Life| 11.22.10 @ 6:47PM
Why the [reason] are you watching Dancing With the Stars? This is just some trashy celebrity worship show just like Jersey Shore, reality TV, and everything else about Hollywood/New York/American pop culture.
And now Palin--according to the author of this article, who said that he and other people who live in the so-called "fly over country" (a word that means nothing to most Americans, because most Americans live here) are voting for Palin because of her celebrity status--is going to win just because of her name.
Go figure.

Although I agree that both Palins are to be admired for choosing life, I am resisting the urge to participate in this madness.
This is a dance show. Bristol is doing nothing wrong. This is how the show has worked for 11 seasons. It is a sad statement on our society that this has gotten so out of hand.
Having said that, there are other people involved in this who are/were much better dancers. I refuse to cast my vote on a reality show simply to make a point regarding how I feel about social issues.
sodakhic| 11.22.10 @ 7:01PM
Way to go Paul, I'll be rounding up phones tonight and all are email addresses(vote on ABC.com). This will be a record breaking final vote for Bristol.

We took a shellacking, mind numbed trolls. Booo! Sarah Palin! Trig! Bristol Palin! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! Wow this is scary. You are all right to try to stop it. You need to follow my four step plan:
1. Act irrational. You guys are doing great.
2. Buy a shot gun. You can get rid of it later before it shoots somebody.
3. Shoot the TV set during Dancing with the Stars. This will be like our economic program. When you buy new TV sets there will be a surge in the economy. Trust me it will be great. Kind of like cash for clunkers without the cash.
4. Say F%^&ing; politics when the police get there. Enjoy a small vacation from work with the local government picking up the tab. We must stop anything Palin. You are all on the right track.
Yes we can, baby.

Killing your own seed is really about self hate.
Lashing out at the Palins is just manifestation of that same self loathing.
They can't get their self hate validated if the Palins, who get an extreme amount of media attention don't follow suit - anyone worthy of the media spotlight must share their self loathing - "Conformity Breeds Contempt"
Thus the gnashing and renting in public - It is about the self, but not in any healthy sense . I wouldn't describe them as "pro" anything.
CNL| 11.22.10 @ 8:15PM
Since BO's pappy was married to several other women, besides Stan, BO is illegitimate. Don't see the junior league wailing about that
Karen| 11.22.10 @ 8:19PM
Dear Junior League, As a fellow member I'm ashamed and embarrassed by your behavior on this message board. We've worked so hard to rid ourselves of women like you. Please rename yourself. You reek of elitism equal to that of Mr. Obama and company. It is what is wrong with this country...this political ruling class mentality. There are plenty of average folks in America with varying degrees of education who who understand what our Founding Fathers had in mind when they established our Republic. They have been busy working their tails off to provide for their families and foolishly trusted that people like "Old Republicans" would do right by them. They betrayed that trust.
My kids enjoy watching DWTS so I watch it with them. While no one thinks Bristol Palin is the best dancer, what people admire about her is that she's not a performer yet she works hard every week and improves as a result. She's not polished or able to act well. She can't even pull off a fake sorority girl smile. She's out of her league and she doesn't care. She does not let the criticism get to her, she just keeps working harder and gets better result. If that isn't a lesson for everyone I don't know what is. That's what most people are rewarding with their vote.
But aside from that, voting for Bristol Palin is a weekly reminder to the elites on the right and the left that we Americans have a vote. Y'all just can't stand that fact, can you?
Osamas Pajamas| 11.22.10 @ 8:48PM
DWTS is not the best place for Bristol Palin to be. If she loses, then the Democrats and other left-wing gargoyles will knife her and her mom, Sarah Palin, and dance [badly] in the streets. If Bristol Palin wins, then the screech will go up that "The FIX was in!" --- sort of like elections routinely hijacked by who else? By the Democrats, of course. I understand that the DWTS crew are weeding out any invalid voter email addresses --- among Palin voters.... Presumably they'll do the same for every other contestant --- right? Ha ha ha ha ha ha!!! Don't hold your breath!

I see they still bash Palin's family .... well folks lets look at obama's kin ...shall we. He has one brother denied entry to the U.K. for sex crimes and perjury. He has another brother who is a doper living in a grass shack on 1.00 a month. Daddy obama was a drunken serial wife abuser who died drunk, who lost both his legs in a drunken car wreak. My favorite has to be his ILLEGAL ALIEN auntie living in Boston public housing on the American tax payers dime while never having paid a penny into the coffers of the U.S. while her nephew cashes 5,000,000 dollar royalty checks . QUESTION which family would you want as neighbors
Amanda| 11.22.10 @ 10:55PM
I can only surmise that the classless, negative
comments towards Sarah Palin, Bristol and the rest of the family is the result of troll attacks on
this comment section.
I have never watched DWTS until this season,
and this year only because Bristol was on. Tonight I voted for the first time. My motive had less to do with Bristol and more to do with helping the libs get their heads spinning. It felt good.
After reading the poison posted in these comments, it feels even better.
Farmer| 11.23.10 @ 12:31AM
Hey Mamie,
You said,"Bristol Palin is NOT the best dancer on the show. The judges--using dance criteria for evaluation--always give higher points to other dancers. Since liberals may have a more heightened sense of FAIRNESS, I think this is why they are angry."
I thought the liberal concept of 'fairness' teaches that the less fortunate, or less talented, need to have their lower score adjusted so they can still be winners. Just view Bristol still holding one of the limited positions on the show as Affirmative Action for a less qualified dancer.

Wow! After reading through all this, I continue to believe that humanity being is becoming a hateful, vulgar, crude, creature. Bristol is a young girl, not an animal. Maybe some people are tired of the emptiness of celebritee' and want to see something real for a change. If I watched DWTS, I would vote for her!! From what little I've seen, Bristol has done a pretty good job going up against the celebrities mostly chosen for the show.
The vitriol of the American human being makes me sad.... and so very tired of the hate and hate speach that dominates our society.
Every thing today is a joke, worthy of being ripped apart verbally by anyone with an opinion...of a "hate hobby." Whatever happened to caring, to civility, to humanity?..............sad.
Sad. Sad.
Gigi| 11.23.10 @ 2:51PM
I'm a conservative and I watch DWTS. I love good dancing. I have to say I'm disappointed with my fellow conservatives who have been watching and voting for Bristol simply because of her politics. Jennifer Grey and Brandy and Audrina were and are the better dancers. They should have been the final three. That would have been an incredible final. I admire Bristol for her work as an activist. It was a novelty for her to be on DWTS but she should have been out by week 4 or 5. She's just not that great a dancer. Sorry if that offends anyone, but she's not. It's not politics, it's reality. We are stupid if we vote for someone for any reason other than that in this context. This is a DANCE CONTEST. We are embarrassing her and ourselves.

Those dumbell Palins.
At least theyre bright enough to know this: A human being is a complete organism with human DNA. And allhumans are created equal, and have an inalienable right to life.
Now these Republican elities. Bush. Rove. Weekly Standard. National Review. They openly sneer at the Palins. But lets look at their friends.
Gulianni. Lieberman. Castle. All holocaust enablers. And not some penny ante holocaust, like the Fuhrer's. Nosiree. The biggest holocaust in history. 45,000,000 abortions.
Ann Anon| 11.24.10 @ 5:55PM
Actually, Professor, this is one Democrat (liberal to some extent by conservative measures, I suppose) who judged Ms. Palin for her dancing. I found it lacking compared to, say, Brandy. Well, then, since you have brought up the integrity of the Palin progeny, I must relate that I heard on ABC this morining that Bristol wished to win so that she could "give a big middle finger to those who hate me and my mom". Does that include all who judged her dancing inadequate? Then, I read on Facebook where her sister had made a homophobic slur to someone on FB. Tell me, professor, don't YOU wonder how these children were raised? Forgive me if I do. Sarah Palin is, after all, the Conservative's shining example of Christianity, is she not? Well, I am Christian too. We raised two sons and neither of them uses that language in mixed company. Also, what about using fake email addresses to vote many times. ABC says they didn't count, but neither did those of the people who could not vote due to lines being tied up. Is that ethical, or Christian? Please. Save the lecture for those who need it!
