WASHINGTON — The Democrats are about to be beaten by something
that they do not in their heart of hearts think exists, a huge
national majority. At this late hour, with the storm clouds
gathering and the livestock getting restless, they see only
sunshine. Yes, there is “foreign money” out there. Yes, the media
has bungled broadcasting the purity of the Democratic message. And
naturally angry voices can be heard. Yet surely there is no
majority gathering to unseat the party of decency and good deeds.
Well, there is, and it is nothing like the Democrats describe
it.
That majority is amiable, sensible, and believes in
limited government. It is convinced that we face a catastrophic
budget crisis, and that measures must be taken against the spending
and on behalf of growth. Furthermore, many of these friendly
Americans would be delighted to give our President a ride home if
they found him on a street corner, though they would be a lot
happier if he did not live at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. They doubt
he would ask them in for a drink. After all, to him they do not
exist.
Many of these people are Tea Partiers. Now they certainly
do exist. Yet they are nothing like the Democrats believe them to
be. They are not angry and warlike. They are concerned about what
the Democrats have done these past months, but they will retire
them the old fashioned way, through the ballot box.
Our President has a difficult time conceiving of this
growing majority who oppose him. Apparently in May, President Obama
asked a group of presidential historians over to the White House to
discuss history and to inform him of any historic movements
comparable to the Tea Party Movement in all of American history.
The historians told him what he wanted to hear. As Peter Baker
wrote in the New York Times Magazine, the President wanted
to know whether there were “precedents for this sort of backlash
against the establishment? What sparked them and how did they shape
American politics.” Reportedly the historians spoke of the
“Know-Nothings” of the 1850s, the Populists of the 1890s, and the
Coughlinites of the 1930s. Thus our President was reassured. They
were racists and fruitcakes. He heard nothing to challenge his smug
sense of history.
Yet, once again he was misinformed by his experts. Michael
Barone speaks more accurately of the historic precursors to the Tea
Party Movement. He says voters concerned about limited government
and federal spending were forming a prodigious movement toward the
end of the 1930s. The movement in his mind might have successfully
challenged President Franklin D. Roosevelt by 1940, but the rising
threat of Nazism intervened. Doubtless there have been other
precursors to the Tea Party Movement, for instance the original Tea
Partiers back in colonial Boston. The truth is there has been a tug
between big centralized government and local government since the
founding of the Republic.
Reading the piece by Baker was an odd experience. It was
talking about a president who in less than two years has lost the
trust of the American people, especially Independents. It quoted
soaring rhetoric from Obama in June of 2008 when he said, “we will
be able to look back and tell our children that this was the moment
when we began to provide care for the sick and good jobs to the
jobless; this was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to
slow and our planet [the whole planet!] began to heal; this was the
moment when we ended a war and secured our nation and restored our
image as the last, best hope on earth.” After that there will be
nothing to do, so we can all play golf or read a good
book.
There was also this: “Obama’s team takes pride that he has
fulfilled three of the five major promises he laid out as pillars
of his ‘new foundation’… — health care, education reform, and
financial reregulation.” So what? Education reform is a nullity.
Ten years from now, test scores will still be in the drink. As for
the other monstrosities, they are a large part of the Obama
disaster. The growing majority that is about to retire Obama’s
Democratic majority in the House and possibly in the Senate knows
this. The Ruling Class, including Baker, seems to be oblivious of
it, but the rest of the nation knows it.
Socialism is another of the gods that have failed. If you
balk at my use of the word socialism, how about if I say Liberalism
is another of the gods that have failed? What is astonishing is
precisely how extreme the Liberalism practiced by Obama and the
Democrats has been. Well, it has failed. The Liberals show no hint
that they realize this, but the American majority does. Now that
majority has to deal with the mess we are in. As for the Liberals,
they have to explain why they are summarily leaving
office.

From the desk of S. Alinsky:
Dear President Obama,
For reasons which are beyond my ken, I have been allowed to pen this brief letter to you. I hope you find it helpful in your ongoing mission on behalf of my Grand Host. It may be that he has allowed me to pen this to you as gratitude for my humble dedication of my life's great work to him (although gratitude is not something we really see very much of down here) or because he is concerned that you are having difficulty carrying out his plan on Earth. I suppose I have been brought in as a consultant, for want of a better term. At any rate, here are a few pointers which, having studied my work as much as you have, you should already have come up with on your own.
First of all, please remember that power is what the enemy thinks you have. You have, I suspect, attributed great power to the "Tea Party" movement of the opposition. In doing so you have caused fear amongst your followers and emboldened the enemy. Quite frankly, when you attributed power to them you de facto gave power to them. This was an error. Now that your followers believe the "Tea Party" crowd has power, it has become so. You should have known this would happen.
This naturally leads to my next point. You have gone entirely outside the experience of your people. Why do you have that clown as press secretary, anyway? He's clearly in over his head. Unfortunately, you have very few people with any military or law enforcement experience at your disposal, and its beginning to show. Confusion and fear are spreading among your camp. I understand that many (most?) of your staff is retreating, even abandoning you. You really need to get some experienced people in there who will be sympathetic to you. I hear Colin Powell might still be available. Just think about it.
Now, early on you did a fine job of making the enemy play be their own rules. The problem now is that you are now the one in charge of the rule book, and you have made far too many promises. You promised free health care to everyone, with no increase in spending. You promised to end the wars and close Gitmo. You promised no new taxes (oh, like we've never seen that mistake before) for the middle class. Now the enemy is holding you to your rule book. It hurts when they use it against you, I know. Believe me, I've had several years down here to think about it, with no end in sight. Maybe you should just ditch the rule book altogether. I hear one of your guys had an idea about just admitting "the Constitution is wrong". Couldn't have said it better myself. Let's you ditch the rule book and do whatever you want. Might be worth a try.
It seems that of late you have ceded the ridicule rule to the enemy. I know, the whole "tea-bagger" thing seemed like a good idea, but it was really a one-time shot that you've hung onto way to long. Of late you and your comrades are the ones on the receiving end. Our good friend M. Dowd tried to help you out, but quite frankly I think she needs to get back on her meds. You've definitely let the other side get the other hand with ridicule. Maybe John Stewart would make a good press secretary? Just a thought.
Now remember, if its a good tactic, your people enjoy it. I have to ask you this as a friend, are your people in Congress enjoying themselves right now? Why not? Maybe, just maybe, you need to re-consider some of your tactical decisions. We all have to reconsider from time to time. Take it from me, I haven't had a choice to do anything else for quite a while now.
Finally, and this is the most important point for us to discuss at our present juncture, I have to ask you this: Did you break through and take power without a constructive alternative to what the other side is doing? You ran against the war, the deficits, and unemployment. Looks to me like they're all still there. You almost make it seem like the other side was right about your lack of experience. I've almost grown wistful thinking about what Hilary might have done. Oh well, no use in regrets, is there? You'll have plenty of time for that once we're here together in retirement.
At any rate, I hope some of this may have been helpful. If so, I don't suppose that as the most powerful man on Earth you could arrange a little something for me? Maybe just a nice glass of tea. Or water. Or even just dip your finger in some and put it on the tip of my tongue. It is just devilishly hot here right now.
Your adviser and admirer,
S. Alinsky

Given all that is at stake, we conservatives cannot afford to become complacent or cocky in any way. The party of the devil will stop at nothing to maintain their hold on power. From the desk of President Barack H. Obama
President of the United States of America
Dear Saul,
What a wonderful surprise to hear from you, even if it is under somewhat difficult times. Last time we spoke you were in a heated exchange with Adolf, Joe and Karl as to who was more destructive to the overall human condition here on earth. As I recall it was fairly obvious that Adolf and Joe had a more direct impact as they had been involved in various genocidal programs that actually physically destroyed millions of humans. But you and Karl, with the advantage of your commanding intellects, maintained that without Karl, Joe would not have been in a position to do his evil and you offered that you must be considered because of the significant impact you have had in bringing down the United States over the last few decades, which will ultimately culminate in a net negative impact to the whole world. And I dare say, without your guidance I would not be in the position I now occupy to instigate that event. It was and is a most magnetic debate, as I have many times dwelled on it amid certain times of self reflection.
Well enough with the good moments and on to the subject of your latest inquiry. Harry contacted me yesterday after he recieved a letter from our mutual benefactor, Mephistopheles, and He seemed quite upset because things weren't going right and apparently, Meph was threatening him with a violation of contract punishment. Harry said Meph gave him another chance, but I have to point this out to illustrate the complications we are experiencing with what has become an adversarial electorate. We all know Reid is as dumb as a rock, but in this instance he has a point. I can't quite put my finger on it but something is just not right with the impact of Mephs usual domination of the masses. We are doing the same things as before but, like I say, these twits are not responding as before.
Could you please have a word with Meph and delicately advance my concerns on this. It appears Harry tried to breach the subject in his letter only to pay a painful price for it last night. You should see Harry's ass, he won't be sitting on his throne anytime soon. We all know Meph has a hard time with advice but Saul, these pedestrian morons are just not in the same trance as they were before and I am worried that I am losing my power of persuasion no matter what lies and artful deceits we come up with.
Be assured, I will implement all of your sage advice with zeal. And I will continue to utilize my intellectual superiority as always. You know I am fully committed to my duty and to the mission. Please reassure our leader of that. I know failure is a not tolerated and results in a very unpleasant future so rest assured I will succeed.
As for liquid refreshment you know it is impossible to sneak anything by the Satanic Sentinel Security Forces. You can't even bribe those S.S. devils. Remember what happen to Dr.Mengele when he tried to smuggle in his pain medication. He is still paying for that. So I am sorry I can not help you with that, Saul, but if there is anything else I can do, let me know.
Please talk with Meph about what I have relayed to you. We need his help right now, more than ever.
Yours with fond regard and affection,
Little Barry

Actually I endorse this sentiment. It is the dialectic in action. McCain was a fence sitter, who can deny that? Much of what we are experiencing now was baked in the fiscal cake. The only people who do not understand why socialism does not work are people who have never lived under it.
I suggest that when the Obamas are turfed out of the White House, they come to Toronto and live as middle class citizens under true-blue, actual, 100% socialism and see how they like it.
I did not understand viscerally why it cannot work until I did the same -- and now I understand that it cannot work because it is not designed to work. It is designed as a mechanism to convince people that this really is the best life has to offer -- by forbidding them to exercise any other option, and teaching them that personal responsibility is terrifying and they cannot be expected to exercise it.
Not that all Canadians are beaten-down proles, but it doesnt actually take all of them to keep the rest of them down. The great black cloud of foot-dragging, slump-shouldered witnesses whining *What can you doooooooooooooooooooo?* drowns out and drags down the rest, and soon there is little energy left to fight back.
There is a good reason why 80% of the population of Canada lives within two hours drive of America. The only thing standing between Canada and revolution is that safety valve of the Seven Last Words of Canada: I Will Get It In The States.
Maura| 10.21.10 @ 9:11AM

"The only people who do not understand why socialism does not work are people who have never lived under it."
Sorry, Appleby, but that won't fly. I've never lived under socialism but I can easily understand why it won't work. In fact, it's intuitively obvious that if you pay people to not work and penalize people who do work, that eventually, no one will work (at least not much). "Bienvenu a la France!!"
The source of peoples' misguided belief in socialism is complex, pathological, and not monolithic. Laziness, envy, and greed motivate many of the slime dwellers at the bottom. Greed, lust for power, megalomania and a few other psychopathologies motivate the commissars at the top. The world has seen the abominable consequences of collectivism writ large and has still not learned. Lack of experience is not the problem.
I feel the plight of our friends and neighbors to the north but sadly, we're not far behind. BTW, there is indeed "a good reason why 80% of the population of Canada lives within two hours drive of America" IT'S TOO DAMN COLD up there! :)

This is our basic problem and frankly, it is not a large one. Some of us have learned through abstraction; historical knowledge and mathematical application, that socialism (which is all Liberalism amounts to) cannot work. Our countrymen are learning this same lesson through experience and to me, it has happened with a rapidity I could scarcely have hoped for two years ago. Take a page from Tyrell: it is a cruel sport but vastly entertaining!

Canadians will immediately counter with, "And just about everyone on your side of the river comes to Ft. Erie to buy meds", but what's that got to do with treatment?

You seem to imply that what we are living under now works. I submit that what we are living under -- whatever we want to call it -- does not work. (Some might call it Keynesian economics.)
Many of us seem to not fully perceive that our system is not working of if we do, we don't understand why. Maybe we should all learn about the Austrian theory of the business cycle.
What is worse, many of us are like the proverbial frog in the pot of slowly heating water that doesn't realize it will eventually be boiled to death. In fact many of us will even vote for the "chefs" who are controlling the burners on the stove.
The question is how many "chefs" of either party will there be after the elections? Maybe some will turn down the heat, when the real solution is take the pot off the stove and try a different recipe.
RWinks| 10.21.10 @ 2:27PM
By asking whether Socialism "works" or "doesn't work" I assume you mean does it lead to prosperity and the betterment of mankind. Several centuries of experiments, both large and small from communes to continental nations prove conclusively it fails miserably at producing prosperity and happiness.
As a system of power and control, however, it succeeds very well. With all power concentrated in the government, it combines the the power of the most despotic tyranny with the immortality and ability for infinite expansion of bureaucracy.
To those with a selfish greed for power over their neighbor, it holds an irresistible allure. To this must be added the sizable portion of the population who would rather steal a living than work for it. Since most haven't the courage to commit theft directly, they are satisfied with the government doing it for them. Thus the popularity of Socialism a century after it's failures became manifest.
idalily| 10.22.10 @ 4:29PM
To the selfish, the greedy, and the thieves, you must add the do-gooders, for they are the ones that are the most dangerous because they "care." They truly do pave the road to he11, where there is no freedom, no prosperity, no reward for hard work, and soon, no french fries.
megapotamus| 10.22.10 @ 6:21PM
I would like to interject that while I agree with the pragmatic case against socialism, I do not make it. If socialism produced twice or more the material gains of capitalism, or what is more accurately named.... Freedom, it still would not matter. Freedom, ordered freedom... Liberty.... is the most precious commodity of all. More even than food. Seriously. So do not fall too easily into the Benthamite formulation of the greatest good for the greatest number. It is subject to manipulation and, in any case, is secondary at least to the imperative of Liberty. Live free or die, as New Hampshire has it. I would say Live Free and Die Free full stop.

When Obama was advised of the Know-Nothings he should have jumped from his chair and danced around the room before grabbing his golf clubs because he's king of the Know-Nothings who Do Nothing.
Obama and his stalwarts know nothing of how business works or what creates jobs or wealth.
In the minds of the Obamamites, the pie is limited and if Citizen X possesses wealth then Citizen Y must be given some of that wealth because the pie is limited.
In fact, the pie is unlimited, limited only by out imaginations and efforts. Unfortunately, the federal government is doing everything possible to destroy the private sector starting with the health care community.
In the coming months the economy will continue to unravel as capital sits on the sidelines unsure of what's coming next.

George Soros needs to be kicked especially hard. He's funneling monies into several avenues to hit at Beck and FOX News. He needs to be kicked hard and often.

Why let them back up, the next thing we know we would be in the fight for our Republic life. Me I am all for kicking them while they are down, they will remember what it taste like and will not forget the feeling of the blunt object upon their wounded heads for quite some time. As for me, I'd just as soon as kill (politically speaking of course) them outright and put them out of our misery of knowing them might again resurface in the future to do their demented damage upon our grand children. Never let your enemy up while he is down to remove all doubtswhenever possible.
John Navratil| 10.21.10 @ 9:00AM
Good thought, Ret. Marine!
But, it's hard to put a stake in the heart of the Liberal/Progressive/Socialists or whatever they will call themselves in the future to distance themselves from their past. It's hard because the ideas (platitudes, really) sound so nice. Who's against free Bubble-Up and Rainbow Stew?
In order to put the stake in the heart, we will have to go after the RINO's (the ruling class) and actually CUT the government. Britain's 500,000 would be a SMALL start, but in the right direction.
When Chris Wallace tried to pin Carly Fiorina down on just one item of the budget she would cut, Fiorina fumbled and evaded. Her correct answer should have been "There is not one item, they are ALL to be cut. We will not dig ourselves out of this on the backs of a single group or constituency. The pain will be shared."
The Tea Party has its work ahead and the people of America have got to learn, viscerally, the meaning of "There ain't no such thing as a free lunch."
Margie| 10.21.10 @ 11:51AM
Example to the nation of what's needed budget-cut wise: Think Chris Christie.
Fearless Gov. of NJ taking that state for a run for its money, heh. Standing up to Lefty Unions and getting the state's spending under control.
Wanted: Fearless leaders ready to cut gov. spending & cut taxes at the same time.
Leftists cry, "It can't be done! It can't be done!" Like the Wicked Witch of the West in the Wizard of Oz cried that she was melting.
Conservatives KNOW it can be done~ and do it.

Y'all do know that the American treatise is Progressive and always has been. The very foundation of this country, the Constitution, and related Amendments are Progressive in nature. I'm only saying that we do believe that life in America should be fair. Politically, we swing back and forth, teetering Right then Left, like a bunch of penguins on ice. I'm just saying like the bit of a centrist that I am.

"If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves. "

They are on the same continuum, each at a different stage. The Communist is an idealist; the Socialist is the disiullsioned Communist who has to use force on the Commune to implement all the "good" ideals he knows are best for us. Obama may have started down this road a Communist, but he is evolving more into a true Socialist with each passing day.

Tim*:
Actually, now that the herd was culled in the primaries, Ken is correct. We eliminated a great many RINO/country club/accomodationist Republicans (not all to be sure, but many) so now we must eliminate the Demos and then again cull the herd. That can only be done with a majority.
The battle is far from over. It will take much work (blood ters, sweat) before a final conclusion is reached. Nov. 2 is only a new beginning. We are reliving the early 1770's and either our petitions for redress will be heard or...
John Navratil| 10.21.10 @ 12:05PM
Al Adab,
While expressing a great deal of sympathy for Ken and his call for a straight ticket, I question not only that it can only be done with a majority, but suggest that a majority at all costs (Mike Castle, e.g.) will actually make the job more difficult.
I'll pick on the Senate and a majority of one obtained by the supposed victory of Mike Castle. The R's have the gavel (a good thing), but they have just made the least conservative R the most important person in the Senate who along with Snowe and Collins will have to be wooed courted and compromised with. How successful will the necessary hard choices be? The Republicans, being forced into the Democrat-lite mold will be prime targets for opposition.
It's not that I don't want conservatives in the majority, it's that a RINO dominated Senate is not good for conservatives. Furthermore, a majority of one gets the gavel and sets the agenda (important), but will not be able to get anything passed the President's veto. Like it or not, all the action in this cycle will be in the House. The Senate won't be much help in any case. I'd rather be set up strong for 2012.
All that said, I'm praying for Christine O'Donnell. Now ask yourself to rank these three scenarios:
(1) Republicans get a majority with Mike Castle.
(2) Republicans get a majority with Christine O'Donnell.
(3) Democrats keep the majority with Chris Coons.
Is (3) really that much worse than (1)? The rout of the Democrat Party will certainly put the fear of God in whomever is left.

Al Adab| 10.21.10 @ 12:26PM
A RINO dominated (there's the key) Senate is not good for Conservatives. Agreed
Again, we have to continue to cull the herd after Nov. 2. It is just the beginning. 3 is not much worse than 1, but marginally so. Still it has to begin somewhere. If they mean to have a war, let it begin here.
What I find so frightening is the fact that our situation as a country had to come to this before the voters began to understand the difference Conservatives can make and now look how close run a thing it actually is. That a bare majority will emerge when it should be a tidal wave change shows how far we have fallen.
John Navratil| 10.21.10 @ 12:34PM
Al Adab,
Don't despair over the bare majority. It's pure math. We have the 2006 and 2008 elections to purge, yet. If every Senator were standing for election, it would not be nearly so close.
RWinks| 10.21.10 @ 2:46PM
Al Adab, It will never be over. "Constant vigilance is the price of liberty". The reason we have fallen so far is we have ignored the problem for too long. We must work for every election.
It is human nature for people in a group to become "company men". For politicians, government is the "company". Even if we win all the elections (not gonna happen), it will take 3 elections to clean out the Senate. After that, they will have to be culled every two years to remove those who go over to the Dark Side.
Those who would be free must sign up for the duration and the duration is a lifetime.
megapotamus| 10.22.10 @ 6:09PM

All of the promises made by Obama in '07 and '08 ring false. But as hinted at above, they may have a dirty trick or two up their sleeves. The problem is, with this election, the Liberals have managed to split the conservatives into two camp. We've got RINOs and we've got true Tea Party Conservatives. Maybe we'll grow, or maybe we'll not. As Ken has said we'll have to vote straight R, which I will never do for local reasons, but on the national ticket he's correct. The Tea Party must grow, and not shrink back from its beginnings. The Tea Party must become bigger and better. Only by getting the RINOs attention, which has been done, can progress be made.

Liberalism-socialism has failed only in the sense that it degrades people and nations by its nature, but it has no more left our lives than it did with Reagan, who only righted the state of the New Deal for continued adventures. Socialism is the natural end for democracy. Tocqueville saw correctly that the only cure for that was very small government involvement in life and a high voluntary "reciprocal influence of men upon one another". That barn door opened a long time ago.

In fact I have been so scared that I wrote one...of several ...alternative futures ...following the elections. I utilized fiction as the tool, and very serious contacts as my research base.
I do hope each of you will go to the website and hit the link for chapter one I just added.

Newt read it and came out with his "Sharia Law NO!" for all courts in America....State and federal.
Folks, I have unmasked the bastards, and painted just one route they may take.

Thankyou Mr. Tyrrell, - I pray everyday for this country - The American people are much brighter and much smarter than our president thinks !! We do have common sense and know the policies he has implemented are disastrous and are already effecting our lives . I hope that we do get most of these people out of this special office that they hold on Nov. 2nd !! I WILL BE PRAYING -
Deminthemidst| 10.21.10 @ 1:05PM
How are the policies disastrous, Joyce? Perhaps you mean the bill signed to ensure equal pay for equal work to women? Yes, better keep the women down - after all, they are not as smart or effective as men anyway?
The Consumer Protection reforms? OF course, why wouldnt we want credit card companies to change our rates without notice or apply payments to accounts with the LOWEST APR first...I mean, come'on.
Instead of rhetoric, why dont you tell me EXACTLY what Republicans will do...

Thanks to the Consumer Protection reform, I lost the 30 day grace period for any credit charge, just prior to the act my interest rate increased and my minimum payment amount doubled from 2% to 4% on another credit card. Glad to see I drive someone nuts. And here I thought I was wasting my time. "Backwards" is the idea that a powerful central government will impose fairness and morality among the masses. This system failed a thousand years ago. It fails today. I give you France for example #1. My own Detroit for example #2. Us "teabaggers" wish to see control and power returned to the people, as the founders intended. How that is hateful or racist I cannot begin to comprehend. Or perhaps it is more compassionate to keep lower class on welfare while taxing any potential employers out of the country. If liberty is backwards, I'll take it over the forward thinking socialist agenda of this government (both on the R and D sides of the aisle) any time. God bless.

There's no city anywhere in the US where anyone can open a business anywhere just because they own the property. Most places, you can't even hang awnings over the windows of the business you already have open without getting the permission of some local development council. This is a specious argument, and always has been, believable only by someone who has never tried to open a business in a city.
Where Dems are in control - since they like SO much control - it's worse; you are also required to hire certain percentages of minorities, pay certain "living wages", and hang the right political signs.
Again, this is a specious claim that can be believed only by those who have never tried to open a business or build.
Deminthemidst| 10.21.10 @ 3:54PM

Another male basher. Why are you so threatened by white Christian males? Almost all American males have been neutered. Christians are your least worry, my friend. We know man is inherently nasty and only God can change a man's heart. We know laws don't change a man's heart - you can't MAKE a man good. We believe in free will and consequences. Do you even know any Christians and what they believe about government? I don't think so. You all screamed that Bush was establishing a theocracy. Where is it? What liberty was taken from you? Let's have an honest answer, please. Christians are mocked on the web everywhere and we have to live with it. We live our lives trying to help others and make the world better. And that is the real Truth.

Heh, hey Granny~
How do you know when a Democrat's lying?
Their lips are moving.
Deminthemidst| 10.21.10 @ 3:30PM
How does denying another American citizen their constituionally-given rights translate into 'making the world better' in your eyes?
Its not about neutering anyone - its about letting everyone (even gays, muslims, women) have the same personal freedoms that Christian, heterosexual males have.
TPMLurker| 10.22.10 @ 2:16AM
You have no [C]onstitu[t]ionally-given rights. Your rights (and mine) come directly from the Creator. The Constitution merely protects those rights from usurpation by the Government.
Nobody is denying any Muslim religious freedom - I *WILL*, however deny them my permission to build their 'victory mosque' on a sight where a piece of one of the 9/11 airplanes came to Earth. I *WILL* deny them my permission and good-will when the Muslims (including-and-especially CAIR) provide proven aid and support to terrorists as documented by the CIA, have reporters that speak truth to power fired, and seek to impose Sharia law *ANYWHERE* within the borders of my country. I *WILL* deny any pseudo-religion that has proven itself to be incapable of tolerance (as demonstrated by the Ft Hood shooter, the NY Square Bomber, the Shoe Bomber, the Underwear bomber, the attacks on the USS Cole, WTC, and UN Headquarters), that has lied to so many in pursuit of it's goals and that admits that lying to others in pursuit of its goals is considered 'honorable' by it's pseudo-religious beliefs (and can no longer be believed because of the lies), and that uses the term 'religion' as legal cover for violence when attempting to impose secular law on me and mine that is incompatible with the US Constitution.
I look forward to the day when all restraints are removed because the Muslims (including the one in my house at 1600 Penn Ave) finally took take one step too far and open-season in the US is declared on all Muslims in the US.
There's a reason that so many prison inmates convert to Islam - and it's not that Islam is a 'religion' of peace and tolerance - it's so the inmates can claim justification under the 'religious freedom' clause of the Bill of Rights for the violence and degradation of women that Islam allows in the name of their false god 'allah'.
If Islam were truly a religion of peace and love as the liers at CAIR and the NY mosque claim, you would not see violent criminals converting to it in the numbers we do, nor would we see the threats against those that speak out against their extremists - heck - we'd see Islamics speaking out against their own radicals.
Muslim terrorists do *NOT* deserve American respect or any constitutional protections under 'religions freedom' as long as they advocate replacing US laws with Sharia or get away with special-interest exemptions from Congress (such as not paying for health-care) because they claim a religious prohibition on 'gambling'. This brand of Islam (and there is only one) is simply a sham to bypass and excuse their behavior while they violate the laws of the land and the personal bodies and property of Americans while they attempt to turn our Mothers, Sisters, and daughters Daughters into their 'chattel'.

Working people who vote Republican are like Chickens voting to make Colonel Sanders their protector.
Unless you are a millionaire you'll never get a single measurable benefit from any GOP policy.
Everything the Tea Party etc is aiming for is GOP policy from A to Z. Namely, you'll end up further in the hole than you already are with a GOP administration.
The Republicans promise to go back to the Bush policies that put the country into the ditch. As several GOP candidates like to spout "A definition of insanity is doing the same thing again and again and expecting a different result."
Every Republican administration since Reagan promised smaller government only to renege on every point once they were in power. Is there any doubt that history will repeat itself if they get back in the driver's seat?
In fact, the GOP is promises to revert back to Bush's failed policies guaranteeing a prolonged recession if they get back in power. They say their total goal is to defeat Obama, but they neglect to mention that this means giving the country a beating at the same time. The Republicans see their role as being naysayers who block all legislation that might actually help the working class.
If you want more layoffs vote Republican.
If you want more jobs sent overseas, vote Republican because US Chamber of Commerce President Thomas Donohue said, "there are legitimate values in outsourcing-not only jobs, but work..." Donohue had some advice to the hundreds of thousands of workers who lost their jobs to outsourcing. "Pockets of unemployment shouldn't lead to anecdotal politics and policies." People affected by outsourcing should "stop whining," Donohue says.
Donohue vowed to fight any attempt to reduce outsourcing. (see: Chamber is in favor of outsourcing American jobs http://www.stltoday.com/news/o.....2bc8b.html US Chamber of Commerce lobbyist moderated panel on outsourcing American jobs: report http://www.rawstory.com/rs/201.....witterfeed)
This is the kind or treachery the GOP delivers to working people.
And who drove the bus into the ditch? Bush, Cheney, Rove etc were at the wheel, so they get the blame.
Morons who want a rerun of the Bush-Cheney horror story will get more than they bargain for.

What is your problem? I was doing fine under Bush. I got taxes reduced by quite a bit each month, I loved my healthcare, etc. You should see what our current President has done to that! And we haven't even seen the worst of things yet.
Can you understand me? I understand you, but I don't believe you have even a little understanding about me. You really should try.

You didn't address the issues raised.
Floyd Krautner | 10.21.10 @ 2:51PM
You do not respond to the issues raised!
I run my own business. We rely on customers who work for a living. When they are out of work our business goes to hell.
When the Conservatives beat down the working class, we lose 2/3 of our business. Jobs outsourced to India, Taiwan, Korea, China etc have never bought ANY of our products. Incidentally, profits have been down for 4 years, but our sales are rising slightly since Obama got elected.
I loved my healthcare, etc. You should see what our current President has done to that!
As for health care, the Insurance Companies have a license to raise rates any time they feel like it, which is at least once a year. Anthem wanted to raise my rates 39% and that was before Obama-care.
A major element missing from healthcare reform is a PUBLIC OPTION like Congress has. Without competition, everyone is at the mercy of greedy insurance companies.
Note that it was the GOP who emphatically prevented a PUBLIC OPTION.
Answer me this: Why shouldn't I be able to buy insurance from any company in the country? Why can't I negotiate and play them off against each other the way we do suppliers and dealers?
I remember very well the duplicity of Republicans during the healthcare hearings. They ran their committees and made many amendments which were approved (they seriously weakened the policy). Then when it came time to vote, they wouldn't endorse the changes they themselves made.
In my business, a people who do jerkwad moves like lose most of their business. Everyone exposes frauds to our competitors to keep things moving without big problems. We cannot stand dishonest dealers and suppliers. Letting a few crooks run the show would mean the end for us all.
Here's the bottom line. Businesses that sell real products always do better under Democratic administrations because the more money working folks have the better everyone does, even idiot Republicans.
Curtis Rasmussen| 10.21.10 @ 5:39PM
Government regulation in the healthcare business drives costs up. Obamacare will add a whole new steaming pile of mandates, driving rates through the roof. You can't keep your existing plan because your plan will change right out from under you.
Obamascare was written with the participation of the big players in healthcare, and they crafted a bill where only they could survive the tidal wave of mandates, regulation, and massive increase in the number of people on the books. Healthcare would then become a near-monopoly, eliminating even more choices and allowing the big players to set their rates as they see fit.
Medicare was gutted to the tune of $500 million to fund Obamaocare, leaving our elderly with no safety net and empty promises. the Dems are looking out for the little guy? My ass.
Businesses do better under DEM administrations? Obama has been president long enough to own this economy, I am still wating for the horn of prosperity. I hate to let you down krautno but it isn't going to happen. As a matter of fact, your inept prattle clearly shows that you're not above bending the truth.

Most true conservatives deplored his ) and the GOP Congress') over-spending and his expansion of the entitlement state through the drug program. Bush the Elder did not like Reagan. LIBERAL as in refusing to regulate Banks and the stock market?
Reagan-Bush I set up the Savings and Loan industry for a huge multi-billion dollar rip off.
The day the law was passed President Reagan made a speech and said, "Gentlemen, we have hit the jackpot!"
It took a while to understand that Reagan meant the doors were open for a massive theft through banking insurance etc. This crooked deal cost the US taxpayer more than $153 billion (a big theft in those days).
"Half of the failed S&L's were in Texas, pushing that state into recession."
"Five U.S. Senators, known as the Keating Five, were investigated by the Senate Ethics Committee for improper conduct. They had accepted $1.5 million in campaign contributions from Charles Keating, head of the Lincoln Savings and Loan Association. They had also put pressure on the Federal Home Loan Banking Board, who was investigating possible criminal activities at Lincoln."

To the lefties here it might be helpful if you understand that economies are not a zero sum game and that today's bottom third are not a permanent underclass. Barry understands Americans very well, just as every predator knows its prey.
He understands us as Lenin knew the Russians when the Germans inserted him into Russia to sap the Russian war effort. Never one to let a good crisis go to waste, Lenin took control of Russia, overthrowing a democratic government that took over from the Tsar. Lenin preached hope and change, by any means necessary.
While bizarre, having a mole in charge is not unknown. Harold Wilson was a Soviet agent while Prime Minister. Several Prime Ministers of India were accused of being in the pay of the CIA, and this was true in at least one case. (Can't remember his name, but can't help recalling he refrigerated his urine, and drank it.) The U.S. had a mole in the Kremlin, who disclosed the state of Soviet readiness during the Cuban missile crisis, blowing his cover in the process. He was promptly executed. Moles have been uncovered in various and sundry intelligence agencies and armed forces.
Barry's past and his recent political conduct are consistent with Comintern service.
So what are you going to do about it? The states elect the President. Article II Section 1 of the Constitution provides that each state is to appoint presidential electors in such manner as the legislature may determine. Each state determines who goes on its presidential ballot. Every senator and representative in the state legislatures - and Congress, too, since the Office of President is a federal office - should be pressed to mount investigation of Barry's birth and his life. For this may be a story of a man born in America to American parents, lost his citizenship, and became communist.
If investigation shows Barry to have been constitutionally ineligible or to have committed election fraud, the authority of electors pledged to him should be rescinded.

Of course “No Fear!”, as a happy face attempt to throw out one’s chest AND point of the jaw by asserting, essentially, that they are brave---one of the most key GOOD aspects of being alive--- has long been in CW. So, it’s pretty un-PC to admit to being afraid.
However, fear has its uses, just as pain does. I have a wonderful book, “The Brilliant Function of Pain”, that proves what its title claims, not only wrt physical, but emotional and mental dimensions---and, let’s NOT forget the core spiritual one!
Well, imagine a “book” that does the same about FEAR---right NOW, due to all kinds of nihilistic actions and intentions of various powerful people and institutions, such as Obama et al and Islam, not to mention the autocratic China and Russia, I claim that fear is the essential state of mind for anyone who’s learned the taught moments!
When a lion is about to chase you, fear is most appropriate! We all know how this bodily “mood” physiologically puts the survival “fight or flight” systems into action. I claim those of us who have awakened to the logical fear sweeping the globe resemble a weak old grandmother, facing a car with its tire on their grand kid. From nowhere, she finds the “impossible” strength to lift that car and save the future of humanity.
Just so, NOW.
Never forget that our “betters”, epitomized by Obama, firmly believe they are way ahead of the “stupid” people who voted them into office! And, this means, basically, that they ALWAYS think that they can say and do ANYTHING, and talk their way out of ANY bad results.
Also, even after they themselves have done a “bad” thing, like get donations from abroad, and hide this fact, they USE this memory to help them choose to claim their opponents did the same thing---with no evidence needed.
J’accuse!
Let’s cut to the “fear” chase. When Obama’s lips loosen the “sinking his ship” truth, as he sees it, about afraid people not thinking clearly because of their fear, of course it is easy to determine his understanding, AND the real truth about it.
Obama---and Islam---are the attacking “Lions”!
It is GOOD to be afraid of them, and to act with all systems, bodily, emotionally, mentally and spiritually.
People are MAD---there it is, emotionally.
People think America is going to HELL---there it is, mentally.
People VISCERALLY react to other people who look like enemies or dangerous types, such as those dressed like bin Laden or a mugger in the dark---there it is, bodily.
What about the spiritual dimension?
Well, as long as there is a self VERSES an other, fear is endemic, in truth. Indeed, every instant of our human bodily life is a continual struggle to maintain order---stay alive---while chaos is permeating our space-time. Do NOTHING---and soon enough, one dies. Even breathing and eating, while pleasurable enough, only keep the “alive” game going until it stops.
So, since mankind as a whole is so unevolved, at this time, and likely will be for many generations to come, the best we can do is live in the physically benign FEAR a civilized society maintains.
Most every religion has a “hidden” teaching, necessarily kept hidden from those who are untested and immature, which in Absolute Radiant Transcendental Being truth is ONE.
Actually, we should wake up and realize that even NOW, each human being is not only living accord to a Christian admonition, but is the bodily manifestation of it. Which one, you ask?
“Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” And, or, “Love your neighbor as you love yourself.”
Notice the basic see-saw “self-other”?
Hey, we are all NEIGHBORS!
A fin, the latter demand about “love” hinges on FIRST loving yourself. What a great and confusing test, perhaps the greatest teaching moment to “get right”!
Truly, each “self” ALREADY loves itself! Narcissus lives. Merely to try to stay alive and feel good and prosper, in all ways, expresses such self love.
But, AND, the impossible “dream” is to love the Self---the One without an other---of which ALL is the rising manifestation.
Who can do THAT? Except---the SELF!!!

This President is so out of touch with the citizens of this country that he needs people to come in and explain why we are angry? This is very scary. He has lived in a cocoon where all he has been told his whole life is how wonderful and brilliant he is. We are in big trouble people this man is a lunatic.

Can any of you bozos give me one reason why a Republican majority in 2011 is going to make things better? What policies? Privatizing Social Security, closing Public Schools, taking away a woman's right to choose, telling Gay people that they can NOT have the same rights as straight people? De-Regulation of Wall Street? Really? Are you nuts? Going back to the days of denying coverage for pre-existing conditions? Are you nuts? Oh wait...lets sell insurance across state lines...what an innovative winner...b/c just what we need is another market dominated by the state of Deleware!
Face it, Americans are getting ready to give the keys back to the idiot who already drove their car into a ditch.

Original how you parrot the Otraitors ditch reference. Hey I had many problems with Bush believe me. His sitting on his behind the last 2 years of his Presidency was unbelievable.
But if you can't see the march toward Socialism and more and more government control over every aspect of our lives he is doing you are blind,
If you do see it and like it you are just a Marxist. Now many out here don't like Marxism and will fight it with whatever means necessary to stop it. I do not want to be told what doctor to go to or what to eat or what to drive or what light bulb to use etc.etc.etc. Especially by Hypocrites who follow NONE of the rules they want to impose on us.

Then that means a Democrat congress can make things worse when there is a Republican president. So exactly when was that car driven into the ditch? In 2008? The Democrats had congress starting in January 2007. So we are not giving back the keys to the idiot -- we are taking them away. But what do I know... just a bozo.

I would like to comment that if you want some rational answers from people who may disagree with you than you need to stop the juvenile, name calling. It's very uncivilized.
That said, I would like to answer some of your questions.
If the Republicans win both Congressional houses by a majority, they will have 1 more chance to make an honest effort (Obama can veto their bills & render the Congress useless.) to follow their original MO which is shrinking the federal government & letting the states decide what's best for their people. If the Republicans blow this then they will become irrelevant & probably implode soon after.
Closing of public schools has nothing to do w/government, just simple economic theory called The Law of Supply & Demand. The population is shrinking; supply(schools) is decreasing because the demand is decreasing.
Social Security: There is more money leaving the system than entering based simply on demographics and exacerbated by the corruption of both parties. I believe Bush 2 saw how successful the Chilean model was working w/their privatizing of SS & wanted to replicate a version of the system involving safety checks. Any investor savvy or not, would welcome such an idea. T-Bills only for long term investment stinks!
For a women's rights to an abortion: It is the duty of a government not to enact any laws that prove harmful to its population. It has been scientifically proven that most women who undergo an elective abortion develop psychological problems or exacerbate existing psychological problems. If an abortion is performed in later stages; ie after 8 weeks of gestation, the rate of future pregnancies ending in miscarriages for those women increases substantially. As of now there is only anecdotal information on the psychological damage inflicted upon the potential father.
I hope this satisfies some of your questions.

Steve A| 10.21.10 @ 4:04PM
Hey Dem, Please expand on a "womans right to choose." A right to choose what? To terminate a pregnancy that is inconvenient? Please describe, in vivid detail, the exact procedure you are referring to. I bet you do not have the nuts to do it. As for gays, I say they can have all the rights they want, except calling it marriage as this is an actual definition. Words do, in fact, mean things. Call it a civil union, whatever, you can have all the bennies you want, even pay the marriage tax. Just get out of my face. I really do not care. As for the wonderful public school system, why is it that all of your liberal hero politicians send their kids private?? Social Security. Can't do much about that. Too many poor souls duped into buying that turd burger. Need to scale up retirement age. We are basically screwed on that one though. Thanks for coming.
Deminthemidst| 10.21.10 @ 4:12PM
Hey Steve,
I hope no one you know is ever raped by a stranger or another family member...surely you could have chosen a different word from 'inconvenient'. What an ass.
Words do matter, and yours tell me you are an ass. But worse, you are a product of many years of Right Wing radio and TV that has filled your brain with all sorts of sad ideas regarding people you dont agree with.
Believe me, the LAST place I want to be is anywhere NEAR your face.
mzk1| 10.21.10 @ 4:35PM
Oh, PLEASE! Rape / Incest are a very small % of abortions. A great deal ARE for inconvenience, in spite of all of the brainwashing the MSM have done to convince us otherwise. The main issue is not Roe v. Wade, but the Doe case that followed it, which took all of the restaints off. And Doe herself has since said that she was basically forced to have the abortion. "Choice" is a myth.
megapotamus| 10.22.10 @ 6:37PM
Democrats just love to kill babies. They like to kill their own babies but more than that they just LOVE that babies are killed, mostly black babies. This is the twisted sicko fact of modern life and was the twisted sicko fact of life in yesteryear. Babies? Kill 'em. Kill 'em with knives or poison or just whatever you have at hand. Whether they are the product of rape or incest is immaterial. Whether there is an actual medical reason for it matters not a whit. Kill them babies, that is what the Left aspires to though of course, they would kill all of humanity if given half a chance. Why? Because they hate themselves. Why is that? Because they know themeselves. I say, if humanity is so bad, set an example. Rid the world of your screeching, ravenous mouth.
Steve A| 10.21.10 @ 4:15PM

David| 10.21.10 @ 5:52PM
Hey Deminthemidst, you are truly a moron. "A woman's right to do what she wants with her own body???" As Steve A asked you to do, describe what happens in an abortion. Then describe what happens in a partial birth abortion. The fact is that a woman loses NO PART OF HER BODY when an abortion occurs. As to rape, it is almost impossible for a woman to conceive when raped. It is such a stressful sitution that her body shuts down. Anyone who has ever been to a fertility doctor will tell you how important it is to be relaxed when trying to conceive.
Single women and single men with the same seniority make exactly the same amount of money for doing the same job. The idiots on the left always compare married women to married men to skew the numbers and show that women make less than men. The fact is married men are CAREER minded and work many more hours than married woman who work fewer hours and are only holding down a JOB, not building CAREERS.
"...going back to the days of denying coverage for pre-existing conditions???" That provision isn't even in place yet. How can we go back to denying it when it is denied now?
One reason things will be better with a Republican majority in the House is that where spending originates. The repubs can refuse to fund Obamacare.
Homosexuals can have all the rights that heteros have. They are even adopting children and have been for years. What they cannot and should not have is a society that says "okay, you are MARRIED".
To Floyd Krautner, I don't even know where to begin with your rambling. Unemployment is at 10% so how can you claim that repubs put people out of work. I was in the 28% tax bracket and the first year Bush took office, he and a REPUB congress lowered it to 25%. People who were in the 15% bracket were put into the 10% bracket. I would call us all "working" class, on which you say your business depends.
So, if everyone is paying lower taxes and keeping more of their own money, AND IF you are losing business, I suggest to you in the nicest manner that you probably STINK as a manager and businessman. That can be our only conclusion based on your nonsensical statements.

Perhaps Mr. President you should spend some time reading IKings 12:1-16, then you may just understand why we are angry!
RCV| 10.21.10 @ 7:30PM
What he will learn when he reads that passage in Kings is that the people got angry at their leader because they thought he wasn't listening to them and giving them what they wanted, so they threw him out. And the people ended up with a leader much worse, Jeroboam, who set up golden calves for the people to worship. I think that's a fair analogy for what will happen if the people once again entrust the government to the GOP.

Yes, it is over. I want Barack Obama to know it is over. Each and every day he has left to spend in our White House I want him to know it is over. I want him to know that I am thankful for one and only one thing resulting from his presidency. America woke up. Conservative Americans came alive. Ironically, Barry, it was you that brought that awakening. All the conservative news media, Rush, Glenn, O'Reilly, Sean, all helped, but it was actually your horrible, arrogant, evil radical agenda, in all its dark glory....that woke us up. We can all be thankful for the enlightenment. Your "Yes We Can" is now, " Oh No You Don't". It is over Barry, and when you reflect upon it, "It never was." It never will be.

Be OK to call B Milhous and his Crime Family "socialist," if that was what they are.
But it is not. And nor are Canada's Lefties nor Australia's nor New Zealand's nor any of the Western World's Lefties, merely "socialist."
What the governments of once-free western countries all have in common is that they permit We, The People, in America -- and their various sorry subjects in the rest of the once-free western world -- the pretense of owning our own businesses, homes and other properties but so restrict and order the conditions of such pretended "ownership"as to leave no doubt in any reasonable mind about who and what they really are -- and about the accurate name of their brand of "modified" Marxism / socialism:
It is Fascism.

As usual, I do not read any comments but my own.
Just like every other long-winded war-&-peace poster. Oh well, here goes anyway... Obama, young people want badly to believe after years of mom/dad (correctly) telling them are wrong about everything, is one of their own, a young brash know-nothing who they desperately want to believe knows something. The all to end all. They HAVE to believe this. Massive peer pressure from peers that are equally deluded forces them to believe as they do & they don't have the guts to resist this pressure. Many of us were like that once, back in the Carter era. Grandpa Ronnie was hopeless, Jimmy was the shiz we were told endlessly just as the Nazi masses were told endlessly Hitler was the shiz. But, looking at it closely back then even though we were the die-hard Jimmy kind-of-folks we were, or were supposed to be, we finally had to switch & vote for Ronnie. It was that "supposed to be" that got to us, and made us wonder and switch before it was too late. Took guts & thinking to make this switch, & never a regret because it did take guts and thinking. Then again, some of us had integrity and at least some sort of real education.
Today? Education is mostly indoctrination. Big difference. Today it's all about the pseudo-intellectuals, youthful femmed-down yuppies with not a whit of real integrity or intellect armed with their fine mocha, an obnoxious status mutt, and a big attitude they can't back up with critical thinking. They only back it up with the idea that because they are yuppies, they are the shiz. Right. Like Jimmy dumb-a** was the shiz. Like Barack dumb-a** is the shiz.
This is going to be a landslide, shiz-holes.

Deminthemidst, if coverage for pre-existing conditions is in effect, how long do you think it will be before insurance companies stop providing health insurance? They cannot stay in business under those conditions. Hello government run medical care with rationing and death panels. That is why it is so important for repubs to take the House in 2010, and then the Senate in 2012. REPEAL OBAMACARE.

Its called competition, David, but Republicans dont really want to talk about that...I could care less if insurance companies that spend UP TO 50% of my premiums on things OTHER THAN healthcare cannot compete. And yes, if the public option were available (option being a useful word to remember there, despite the fact that it hurts your narrative) it would deliver the same healthcare coverage the govt already provides to millions of folks right now.
For the death panel - please dont do that. You seem informed and reasonable. Dont follow Palin in propagating a lie. There is no such thing as a death panel and I ask you to provide ANY proof (not Fox News links or Palin Tweets) that such a thing exists. The group that most resembled the groundswell of rebellion against an overbearing, repressive government was called The Minutemen and, their open rebellion against royalist-statist tyranny led to the American Revolution.
That being said; Mr. Tyrrell is incorrect on one other point. "Liberalism" hasn't failed. It lives on but, what the "professional" American left practices is the exact opposite of "liberalism."
