A Further Perspective

‘Parasitic Human Infants’

The dark side, as revealed yesterday in Silver Spring, Maryland.

Maybe this is what John Paul II had in mind when he referred to the “culture of death.” Yesterday, a fellow, a xenophobe and eco-terrorist, if his explicit statements are to be taken at face value, stormed into the Discovery Communications building in Silver Spring, Maryland, gun in hand, with rather disturbing, bomb-like devices attached to his person.

This man, believed to be James Lee, was eventually shot by police after talking with him for several hours. He took three hostages, although 1,900 people, including children in a day-care center, were evacuated.

Good thing for the kids in the day-care center. Evidently, Lee had posted a manifesto on a website registered in his name, making several demands of the Discovery Channel. He demanded that the channel broadcast a commitment “to save the planet” and air shows promoting curbs on population growth, solutions to global warming and the dismantling of “the dangerous US world economy,” as reported by Dan Morse, Christian Davenport and John Kelly of the Washington Post. It seems that Lee used a Canadian post office box address.

But what caught this father and environmental consultant’s eye was that part of Lee’s statement which demanded that Discover Health programs quit encouraging “the birth of any more parasitic human infants and the false heroics behind those actions.” The statement also makes reference to “Malthusian science” and “disgusting human babies.”

The authorities believe the hostage taker is the same person who operated a site at http://www.SavethePlanetProtest.com.

Besides calling for the end of war, the site excoriates “immigrant pollution and the anchor baby filth that follows that.” Indeed, “nothing is more important” than saving animals.

“The planet does not need humans.” You get the point.

Thankfully, no one was hurt other than Lee himself.

Let’s stipulate that Lee was a man with mental problems. He had been in court for causing problems at this same building. But it is interesting, possibly revealing, that a diseased mind such as his would latch on to such misanthropic ideas, in the context of the environment, which views human beings as antithetical to it rather than an active part of it.

Lee’s attitude, at least the one expressed on his website, displays a distorted view of humanity’s place in the world, one in which men and women only consume but do not create, only destroy but do not restore, only bring death rather than life.

Unfortunately, this is not an isolated worldview in Western society, although it is one that, mercifully, does not often express itself in such violent ways. It is all very sad.

Thank God for the sniper who took this P.O.S out, he most likely saved those people lives (who probably have parasitic human infants themselves). It's funny though, isn't this the second or third attacker this year (who made headlines nationally), who's philosophy came from the Left? Weird!!

Good thing he didn't worship whales, then there might have been deaths besides Lee's own.

Wome.., I mean, whales'll do that to ya.

This man saw ALGORE'S movie and then went crazy. He sounds like a true believing progressive.

Ret. Marine| 9.2.10 @ 6:29AM

Will algore now step up to the plate amd accept responsibility for this man's death. He, afterall, along with the likes of our pretender-n-theif, started the chicago climate exchange to profit from the demise of this man, didn't they?

I think the real problem stems from the fact that his parents let him watch Captain Planet as a kid. I'm thankful my parents turned the cartoon off when they heard him cheerfully remind his Planeteers to "keep their families small!"

Mike| 9.2.10 @ 7:33AM

My parents also forbade Captain Planet after a villain referred to the "Good ol' days when we used to burn coal til the sky was balck"----My dad was a coal miner.

Praise be to the saints and angels who kept that man out of that daycare centre.

The police killed him? Well, that's one less vote for the Democrats...oh wait, ACORN will make sure he gets to vote several more times each election.

For once, something that can't be blamed on Bush.

Stan Redmond| 9.2.10 @ 10:19AM

WRONG. This is Bush Derangement Syndrome taken to the logical end.

Besides it's always Bush's fault.

Jesus Christ on little children:
13 ¶ And they brought young children to him, that he should touch them; and his disciples rebuked those that brought them.
14 But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not; for of such is the kingdom of God.
15 Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein. Mt. 18.

16 And he took them up in his arms, put his hands upon them, and blessed them.

If he thinks global warming is bad, wait until he checks out the temperature where he’s headed to now. That’ll be his real inconvenient truth.

Houston radio host Michael Berry, ever quick in the studio, is running parody recruitment ads for "Al [Gore] Qaeda" in the wake of the Discovery Channel incident.

I will not stipulate that this man had mental problems, for reasons I expressed in a post in response to the other article on AS today about the incident. Subscribing to a world view that is and glorifies Evil is not a mental illness.

And in a different era, Lee could have fallen under the spell of a Goebbels or Fr Coughlan. Rousseau once remarked that the Revolutionairies of 18th Century France would have been violent Catholic zealots in earlier times. There is a certain human pathology that drives a person towards cruelty -the cause isn't important.

I think it was the late novelist Saul Bellow who defined the distinction between a Revolution and a Movement. A Revolution has a distinct beginning and end. While a Movement has a beginning, but continues on indefinitely. And over time, it is not the Cause that is important -it is the Movement. This kind of hyper kinetic and very modern phenomenon encourages the kind of violent cruelty that we see so much of today. It is cruelty first in thought and then in deed. Whether it is the murder of an abortionist, or the desire to kill children, the inner impulse is the same.

Sometimes people just get tired or arguing.

Doris F.| 9.2.10 @ 11:37AM

The environmental terrorist is (was) a part of the culture of death, as you have said. He and many people fit a quote of Mother Teresa of Calcutta: "We cannot solve all the problems in the world, but let us never bring in the worst problem of all, and that is to destroy love. Ant this is what happens when we tell people to practice contraception and abortion." This man definitely lacked love for humanity. Humanity can manifest itself one day as the best and on other days the worst. And yesterday was one of humanity's worst days.

daddio| 9.2.10 @ 12:48PM

More to the point, he lacked love for himself. What happened to this man in his live that extinguished that love. In almost all of the cases of these incidents, the perpetrators experienced some sort of trauma, from abuse, to neglect, etc. That does not excuse what he did of course, but it does put it in context.

Petronius| 9.2.10 @ 11:46AM

Lee didn't really believe the bilge he spouted or he just would have made an appointment long ago with Jack the Dripper.

And another disciple of secular humanism bites the dust.

John Paul the 2nd Demon?| 9.2.10 @ 2:02PM

And what significance does the lineage of the Beast representative's on Earth, the anti-Christ imposter who blaspemes Christ, have in any matter?
The catholic church is the apostate Babylon of modern time. They have corrupted billions in 2000 years of their phony claim to the pathway to Heaven.
Join a true church of Christ, without musical instruments, as if it is a rock concert, but sing from the heart, with the rest of the congregation, from the hymnal if needed.

Well how come this mass psychosis has gone main stream i can not understand-that growing population will doom the planet. Well every other racial group except the whites fools has rejected this non sense and are breeding fine and increasing their numbers. Only racial group which is not reproducing are the whites stats prove it- the birth rate among the whites have fallen to such low rates that whites will be a minority in Europe US Canada with in next 30-40 years and maybe in next 200 years will disappear completely. You do not reproduce to replace your population you will die out- it is a simple truth.

Even China which followed one Child policy now acknowledge the disaster it has created in China- the severe shortage of Girls. And have relaxed the rule qa little bit. China followed that policy not because of shortage of resources but because of Marxist policy where only state has to provide the population all its need, but there is no economic model that Govt could use to do it, so if govt is incapable to provide and will not allow the freedom to its people to decide and produce what it needs there is only one solution kill the people and to a sustainable govt defined level and that exactly what Chinese commie did.

The nut-jobs who say increasing population will wipe out the resources and will lead to shortages are mad.

The world population has exploded in Asia and Africa because there are adequate resourced to feed and provide for growing population. Starvation only lead to stagnation and decline in population but exactly opposite has happened. if there was not adequate food how come population exploded in Africa. The truth of the matter world is now facing new threat of obesity. even in China and India were it is becoming fast a epidemic the places where most of world population lives, the rich man's disease heart diseases, diabetes, etc are growing rapidly.

We have not run out of Oil Gas, but new fields are coming up stream every month. there has been no shortage of coal, metals, minerals, and other natural resources even though world economy has grown to massive new levels and there is no proof they will run out any time soon.
