Montana has made headlines lately, not with grizzly depredations,
wolf restoration, but rather with sex.
Not just the usual activity confined to teens and adults,
but with a proposed grade school education program in the state
capital of Helena which would start with Grade One examination of
gay relationships and go from there. Outraged parents, figuring
their last refuge is being invaded in the area of knowledge
transport, are making their dismay known in no uncertain
terms.
It seems we are returned to the days of banana instruction
that once was thought banished in the lower grades of far Western
modernism. But even in a conservative region such as Montana it
appears there lurks a desire to tell all. One theory holds that
knowing all will prevent mistakes.
Children who might be learning the intricacies of the
automatic and semi-automatic rifle will, according to advocates
of young sex, understand instead the workings of high-powered
relationships.
Who can sensibly argue that it is a parental duty — nay,
privilege — to impart such knowledge to offspring. But, who can
deny these parental obligations have been for the most part
ignored?
A counter argument to those who stand aghast at school
meetings is simple: do it yourself. Make certain that the
knowledge you would forbid from the classroom is imparted at the
dinner table — and to the degree that makes you
comfortable.
Something good may come from this howling argument in
Helena. That something is careful knowledge.

OR ... remove your child from the Department of Hatcheries and their Brave New World agenda, and forego the boat, the extra car and the Pradas -- not to mention said childrens Nintendo WII -- for private school tuition with a curriculum of your choice.
TANSTAAFL has long been true, and if more people realized exactly HOW true, socialism would never get a foothold anywhere and Brave New World would still be just a novel.
E. Gahm| 7.19.10 @ 9:26AM
I agree with Appleby regarding removal from the Hatcheries. I removed my children from them in the 70's because I saw where the curriculum was headed that long ago. We don't need no stinkin' classical education was being pushed from day one after the teacher's unionized. Here we are 40 years later with that agenda in full bloom. What a stinkin' rose it's become.
Alan Brooks| 7.19.10 @ 6:45PM
I disagree that sex is threatening in any way-- it is dull now-- rote.
In the early '60s sex seemed frightfully exciting: miscreants were lurking around waiting to do evil, carnal, things.
Today?:
"phone sex $2.99 an hour plus a connection fee and applicable taxes. Uncensored"
Uncensored! Golly gee, one would never guess!
sestamibi| 7.19.10 @ 7:11PM
More like $2.99 a minute, I think.
Alan Brooks| 7.19.10 @ 10:58PM
"More like $2.99 a minute, I think."
Oh that makes it different: talking with a phone-whore for $2.99 a minute..sorry for the error-- how foolish of me.
Alan Brooks| 7.19.10 @ 11:07PM
And it is UNCENSORED, too. You didn't know that? why, you poor things. You thought they were holding out on you; say when you looked at a Triple XXX photo you thought maybe something was being covered up so you couldn't see it.
Clinton nee Publius| 7.19.10 @ 8:59PM
If only it were true. I can tell you that being a victim of sexual abuse as a child destroys your life. You trust no one. When I hear people like you say there's no harm the first thing I think is that you need to be investigated for pedophilia. If you have children they need to be taken from your home and put into foster care until they can be independently interviewed.
After all, we just want to be safe. It's about the children's future and we can't put them at risk. Anyone who supports this idea is also a person that demonstrates an elevated risk for being a pedophile that needs to be investigated.

The worst has already happened in public schools and parents don't care. What makes anyone think sex in kindergarten will turn the tide? We live in Montana and home schooled our kids. CONSERVATIVE families looked at us like we were freaks. They're of the opinion that the schools here "aren't that bad." Sadly, their children become Liberals in the end and they just can't see "how it happened."
damocles| 7.22.10 @ 7:29PM
As an experienced teacher, I would bet that any school wasting invaluable 1st grade instruction time on a sex agenda is a bad school in general.
Dr. Ed| 7.19.10 @ 11:17AM
On the one hand, these measures represent a malign, even sadistic attack on religion and the home. On the other hand, the animus against traditional middle-class values is so intense, that the schools are happy to degrade the innocence of childood in order to strike back against anyone supporting values which oppose our new defacto totalitarian and fascistic state.
darcy| 7.19.10 @ 4:34PM
You are absolutely right, Dr. Ed.
And this story hits a raw nerve with me: I lived in Helena for 18 years, raised my children there, and I can tell you that Helena is NOT a conservative town, despite the image people have of Montana as conservative -- and Missoula is even worse, more like Berkeley, CA, actually.
I was daily de-programming my children, and if not for a rabidly liberal spouse, would have home-schooled them. Helena always felt to me like it was under some massive oppressive cloud where truth was pressed down and squeezed out. No, and not just at home!
The entire northwest, actually, has the lowest proportion of church-goers than any other region of the country.
I'm drafting a letter to the HPS Board of Trustees and have been cogitating on it all weekend. They will know that WE are on to them and their agenda.
Petronius| 7.20.10 @ 3:07PM
Good start on that diagnosis Doc. The end result of this pathology taking hold is that the child never develops or accrues any self respect as an individual in a polity that reduces him to a rutting animal.
The Dept. of Education forces public schools to turn your children into deracinated savages to eliminate what they don't have in their lives and want to deny to all others; Love.

IMO, this subject should not only be NOT TAUGHT to first graders, but to any school children as well. This is simply a liberal trojun-horsed method to inject the teaching of homosexual acceptance dogmas into the public classroom by the radicals in society. Society is being invaded from may fronts from this HRC,etc propaganda machine. They've now destroyed the Catholic Church from the homosexual/pedifilic scandals, are in the process of doing so with other religions, and attempting to gain legal acquisense inside our military ranks. Now, they're attempting to indoctrinate young children. When, oh when are people going to WAKE UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Michael O.| 7.19.10 @ 5:20PM
This is the next front for the gay agenda - forcing children to learn about and "understand" faggot lifestyles at an age so young that they can't understand the depravity that these semi-humans are committing. The day they bring this to my public school district is the day my child gets taken out of the system.
Lisa| 7.20.10 @ 12:04AM
Why do 1st graders need to be taught about homosexuality or heterosexuality, for that matter? What practical purpose does it serve? The progressives are out to destroy the innocence of children in the name of progress! It makes me sick!
oliver| 7.20.10 @ 9:56PM
The primary objection parents have to this new curriculum is that it usurps their rights as parents to decide when, how, and how much of this sensitive topic is presented to their children. It is yet another example of government telling parents it knows best. An underlying objection which no one wants to talk about is the obvious influence of the gay agenda on this curriculum. Discussion of gay issues will be presented in such a way as to silence any religious or personal disagreement with homosexual lifestyle. Suddenly, if a family's religion conflicts with homosexuality, that family's religion is wrong. No one is allowed to dissent. No one is allowed to express disapproval. Which leads the next generation quickly and easily down the path to thinking gay marriage is perfectly fine, something the gay agenda has vehemently sought for years now. As with many other social issues, by going into the schools and "training" kids in politically correct thought, the left has advanced its political and social agenda. Parents see it coming with this new curriculum and they are tired of it, especially when it involves the sensitive issues of sex. Our kids live in a highly sexually charged culture, and parents deal with the ramifications of this on a daily basis. Basic biological information about reproduction and choices presented in an age-appropriate way is one thing. Talking about gay sex to elementary kids is quite another.

Another thing that happens is this, first they teach babies about sex between a man and a woman....wonderful,THEN they teach babies about sex between two consenting adualts OF THE SAME GENDER.....wonderful,THEN they teach the babies to not question sex between themselves and the teacher or the man down the steet or the woman working in the daycare,THEN they teach the kids about perversions between people and critters and such other sicko things, soon all sense of there being a normal versus a perverted way of having sex is gone and to even question anothers screwed up thinking becomes what is considered perverse, and then our kids become adults...very screwed up damaged adults who increase the damage to the following generation until they are destroyed, there is right and there is wrong, no matter how many perverts get together and say otherwise!
Cheri| 7.22.10 @ 2:11PM
I'm glad to see that people are beginning to wake up. I just pray that it's not too late.
Homosexual activists have been saying for years that they just want to be able to live their lives the way they want without discrimination.
That's not true. It's all about forcing us to accept and give our approval of their lifestyle--and to teach our children that pervesion is perfectly normal.
God help us!
B Alfred| 7.22.10 @ 2:29PM
I personally don't care if an adult has sex with the opposite sex, same sex, multible sex, or a sexual romance with a neighborhood picket fence. But do you have to be some kind of religious nut to object to our children being taught in our schools that a perfectly normal and natural way to express love and tenderness and respect towards one's partner is to scr_w them in the a__s and that licking and sucking on each other's a__h___ is perfectly acceptable sexual foreplay rather than the filthy, even dangerous, activity that it is?
Excuse the vernacular, but i recently met a person who thought anal oral sex was, talking dirty.
I believe that such teachers and school boards should be charged with sexual interferance with a minor and the government, the ACLU, and the UCC, with complicity.
These "educators" are also now teaching our children that "anal" intercourse is a ideal method of birth control. God help this rising generation.
Old Ernie | 7.22.10 @ 4:29PM
It looks like almost everybody here agrees that Departments of Education all over the country have been taken over by social activists. Most local school boards don't like this stuff but they are snookerd by the federal and state bureaucrats that control too much of the money. Many classroom teachers feel constrained by it too but are likely to lose their jobs if they buck the system.
What's needed is some backbone from state and federal legislators. They have the power to rein in the bureaucrats if the have the guts to do it.
A good first step would be to cut the funding for the Federal Dept. of Ed. in half. When the money goes away the activists will abandon ship.
Long Ben| 7.23.10 @ 1:04AM
If we can't get the freaks out of school , we must get the children out. Even in red Montana the academicians find the sophisticated urge to call evil good and good evil. Get them out !
Jonathon| 7.23.10 @ 4:29AM
You guys are losing the fight on this one. Every new generation moves further from the bigotry of the past. It's only a matter of time before your own households will be gay-friendly. Time to admit defeat.
