It’s ironic that Obama and company are hoping that the market economy (that is, the real economy) comes out of recession before November and saves their worthless socialist derrieres. The degree of pressure they are under for the economy to recover could be seen on Axelrod’s face as he appeared on “Fox News Sunday” giving his best impersonation of Bush 41’s famous “message: I care.”

There might be some method yet to Obama’s madness, but the only thing we’ve seen so far is Obama’s madness.

I too saw "Fox News Sunday" and was not impressed by Axelrod's usual mumbo-jumbo. While it is too much to hope for the truth, I noted that he spoke in the usual Obama platitudes. They can hope for an economic recovery, but forget it. This nation is in a nose dive, and I seriously doubt the "I care" message will get traction. In fact, it only serves to mire us deeper in the Obuma mud.

The small picture next to this article on the home page is "Napoleon Crossing the Alps" by Paul Delarouche. Unlike the more famous painting by Jacques-Louis David, which shows the Corsican astride a white Arabian stallion, hair blowing heroically, and pointing onward to Italy (with a graffito by Hannibal in the lower corner, just to make the point), Delarouche depicts the scene with historic verisimilitude: Napoleon crossed the Alps on an ass, in the sleet, looking very sorry indeed (on the downside, he was forced to slide along on his own ass).

I suppose, because of the forelorn look on Napoleon's face, some editor at AmSpec thought this was about the Retreat From Moscow, but far from showing Napoleon in decline, it shows him in the ascendent, about to win one of his most significant victories which would secure his position atop the French government for the next fourteen years.

Appearances of decline can be very deceiving.

Many Christians on the right support Israel simply as part of their apocalyptic vision of the Second Coming, but still look down on Judaism as somehow "incomplete".
