Some people are suggesting that if the Republicans win big in
November, Obama may make a midterm course correction, as
President Clinton did. But Clinton was a man of experience. (He
was also a Rhodes Scholar.) Before he became president, he had
been elected governor of Arkansas, defeated for reelection, then
reelected two years later. He figured out what people wanted and
gave it to them. He even realized that America wanted welfare
reform, although he didn’t.
Clinton, George Will said, was not our worst president; but he
was the worst man ever to become president. Obama is not the
worst man ever to become president. But he is certainly the most
incompetent, as Americans, watching this weak community organizer
flail impotently against the BP oil spill, are now coming to
realize.
Obama’s performance will not get better, because Obama lacks the
experience and the imagination to make it better. His crash now
seems inevitable.
Mayday!

Perhaps you would like to share the name you have chosen for us Jews? Do you believe in the UN or in your modest opinion is it antiquated and it's time to dissolve them? Finally, you seem well informed, quite studious and given your mastery control of the English language I hesitate any debate so I will just listen. Tell us about Halliburton's precise timing of their spin-off company KBR. I would be so gracious if you would just offer a few highlights. I would also like to hear how KBR was chosen to perform most of the contract work in Iraq regarding the country's oil. Then how they handledall the negative publicity to defending their presence, motives and work ethics while undergoing USA government investigations. All this and the managed to garner up quite a bit of negative press for Halliburton, Yes, I am most curious about updates regarding the above mentioned. Thank you in advance Mr. Blackwitch

Max Shapiro| 6.22.10 @ 3:35AM
There is no argument there, between B&R. See, inorder to have an argument each side must be armed with words of wit, intellect and preparedness. George and Ronald both waved a white flag at one another even before battle was to begin. Then if this were not symbolically embarrassing enough they were then informed that they were on the same team. George questioned this and asked why they were fighting then. It was explained that it was an exorcise in part of preparing for debates. Both laughed but still did not quite understand what they were suppose to be doing. Ronald was always such a mediocre actor at best he couldn't move his lips unless someone wrote it for him. This is no surprise. There is no argument regarding their suits.

I agree the main point of the commentary was Obama lack of executive experience.
But, quoting from about article:
“His [Obama] economic policy is straight from the FDR-progressive mold. And although, like Roosevelt's, it has failed miserably (skyrocketing deficits….”
The author is implying that Obama’s FDR like economics policies created the present deficit. But this ignores both the debt, the previous budget deficit of 1.2 trillion, and economic conditions Obama inherited from his predecessor(s).
So, I would argue, contrary to the author, the present budget, economic, and foreign policy problems facing our nation have more to do with the failures of the last administration than Obama lack of executive experience.
scotchieguy| 6.20.10 @ 5:03PM
Vtwin, I think you have just painted yourself into a corner. If Bush's spending led to increased debt (even though Congress spends, and has been under Pelosi's direction since '06 elections), O has more than doubled the deficit. How can that be Bush's fault? How has his stimulus plan worked? He has only spent one third of the money. Why not cut his losses, and just return the rest of the money. Maybe that will stimulate the economy. Instead, he talks about another stimulus bill. Re for. policy, he has inherited Bush's policies and continued them. Iraq, troops are still there. He hasn't closed Gitmo. And he increased troop levels by 30,000 in Afghanistan. Besides, he ran on the idea of fixing Bush's policies. Instead, he has continued them (for. policy), or made them worse (the economy).

Abu Hussein al-Nairobi (or whichever Kenyan hellhole this Muslim was born in) is a dedicated revolutionary marxist. His system of local soviets (ala Lenin) is in place to agitate, demonstrate, provide phony votes (ACORN, SEIU, AFL-CIO, AFSME, teacher unions). I think we are too late - before the 2012 elections we will have become the United Soviet Socialist States of America. Already 47% of us pay no taxes or are on the dole; the coming amnesty of 20 million Mexican Indians will assure him a permanet majority. By 2016 he will declare himself President for life.
Appleby| 6.18.10 @ 6:36AM
Obama is the first of what will be a long line of ignorant tweetheads who spend all their time with their heads buried in two inch screens. Mr. Reagan was a great communicator because he met people face to face, and even the people who disagreed with him realized that he was looking at them personally and talking to them. Obama is talking to a screen; there are no human beings behind it, just avatars.
The really sad part about it is that he is screwing things up for the capable and qualified Black men that want the job. *We voted for one of those once,* people will say, *and look what happened.*
neo-libertarian| 6.18.10 @ 11:30AM
Be careful here Appleby, we know what you are saying but do not utter the words “one of those” in the context of race. You simply open the door to baiting. Despite the polarization of partisan politics I doubt that anyone here will make any such superficial selection, or ethnic disqualifications. It is the Alinsky playbook that resorts to such tactics.
I do not like Obama, and while a small part of it is what I “see” when I look at him, it certainly is not skin tone. The posturing, the false bravado, and the contemptible narcissism are objectionable, but as with most here it is the stealth progressive “dishonesty” of his campaign that rankles, not race; ironically what separates us from our progressive oppressors is our colorblindness and the ability to differentiate. We were not fooled by “the one,” and are blind to anything physiological except his demeanor.
I personally do not care for the man because he is a democrat/progressive; I am a libertarian/conservative, my ideology is diametrically opposed to everything he represents. I disparage him because I feel he is destroying our personal freedoms, our economic prosperity, rewriting our unique origins and destroying our Constitution. My feelings for him are no more virulent than that which I reserve for either Clinton. Is this due to the fact that I am a chauvinistic pig or harbor antagonism to convicted perjurers? If they wish to condemn me for this then I hope they to offer an explanation for my other prejudicial foibles, the ones that include an equal and virulent dislike of Gingrich, Romney, McCain, Specter, Christ, Reid, Powell, Frank, either Bush or Pelosy? Am I also prejudicial toward Mormons, Catholics, war heroes, legislative leaders, Democrats, Republicans, or gays?
There certainly exists in political discourse for a “them” but it has nothing to do with ethnicity, sexual preference, gender or age. This is an emotionally charged political environment; I fully appreciate the elimination of certain derogatory terms from our language. What we must focus on is preserving our freedom of speech, our right to input the body politic to influence the selection our leaders, or any impediment to our casting a ballot.
Let the left be the source of insults, in most instances it is their only recourse but they are wasting their breath. All we really need to worry about is three things; we must restore personal freedoms, work to reduce the size of government, and lower taxes.
Ned| 6.18.10 @ 12:01PM

She had to work to gain admittance and to pay tuition. In between dropping out of school, she worked her butt off producing things. Community organizing produces nothing. Even Obama's spending of millions trying to convert Chicago students into Communists at the behest of the Annenberg Foundation produced little. Obama is an agitator. Agitators produce nothing. Liberalism is an incoherent philosophy. Theoretically, it seeks to develop a society of free and equal over-men, who live in blissful freedom from the wicked social obligations of Christendom and Western Civilization.
In practice, it is madness given form. All that is old must be destroyed, that their dream may be realized. In the end, all that is left is anarchistic tyranny.
It is nearly impossible to build something great, difficult to sustain it, but as simple as negligence to destroy. As such, liberals prefer to get on with the work of destroying all that is around them, and simply fantasize on what they would build if they weren't so lazy.

Regarding Obama "accomplishing his goals". Did those goals include cleaning up the oil spill as quickly as possible to benefit the (former) Democrat voters in the region or HIS goals to lie about oil reserves in this country and raise gasoline prices through the roof? If "his goal" was to pass a lousy healthcare plan everyone hates to save face, he's accomplished that.
I chuckle about "community organizers" helping the poor. It reminds me of the film Election where the rebellious student says to the assembly: "Who will really benefit from this election? Not us, the students. Just whoever wins and gets to put it down as credit towards going to college." Before two weeks into the most basic course in US Government, most, if not all students know the difference between The Declaration of Independence and The Constitutution. Yet in one of his stop-me-if-I've-heard-this-before speeches, he placed part of The Declaration into The Constitution. A professor perhaps, an expert? Not only questionable on the expert bit but that fundamental and inexplicable slip up would earn a first semester student an F.
Of course to the 'binded by Obama' bunch, the same mistakes repeat themselves. Gov. Palin did earn her degree. And while she might not have the questionable pedigree of the highly overrated and questionably intellectual Mr. Obama, she is who she is, not the pretender playing poorly the role of President.
One last comment on Professor Obama: at least an originalist knows what is contained within The Constitution and what is found in The Declaration. Looks like the nutty Professor would be more like it.
And of the almost 140 PRESENT votes cast while in the Illinois Senate, the only NO vote: on the right to life ammendment should an unborn child survive an abortion. His rationale *and oh boy, talk about radical* he did not want to further burden the mother who had decided to have an abortion. Hey, we're talking a live child. By his logic, a mother can abort her child post-delivery and thereby undo any, ahem, 'burden'. We are told that Mr. Obama cast that vote and the PRESENT votes over concerns with procedures. Odd, but why the one definitive NO vote when 'concerned' as in PRESENT votes? Radical on life, radical on the role of Government and clueless on two Documents that formed this Nation.

"Barack Obama spent his helping low income communities better advocate for their needs." What was the net effect of that? I don't think the parents of Derrion Albert or the whole of Chicago's South Side would agree with you.
On Obama's credentials as a civil rights attorney, you must be referring to the Buycks-Roberson case. Let's clarify that: in '94, He was a junior to a lead lawyer for a woman who charged her mortgage application was denied by Citibank because of her race. The suit made unsubstantiated claims that white applicants with similar poor credits were approved. Citibank made the mistake of settling out of court rather than win the suit. They also agreed to 'community demands' to relax their lending rules setting a consequential industry trend which precipitated the crash. I doubt if that woman still has her house today. But Obama got to bill for his mere 30 mins. before the judge. That's quite an achievement.

To my shame, I was once an Alinsky style community organizer. These people do not help low income communities advocate for their needs. They exploit the desires of low income communities in order to demonize the powerful for their own ideologically driven and/or self-interested goals.
As a civil rights attorney, what cases did he argue in court? What did he ever do that bears the mark of his name? How does this prepare him for the presidency?
He was an adjunct faculty member at the UofC Law School and he was shoved down their throats by some powerful person. There is no legal scholarship that bears his name. He showed up, taught an introductory course, and left.
Yes, Obama has always been pro-choice, even to the point of protecting the absolute, unqualified right of a mother to kill her own (and someone else's) child in the womb by denying protection to babies who survive abortion.
There is no doubt that Obama is a man of above average intelligence - probably smarter than John Kerry, maybe as smart as GWBush. But this man has accomplished nothing in this life except to get himself elected president. He's pretty good at commencement speeches too.

Obama's EPA REJECTED equipment and expertise from European oil companies offered to them on the THIRD DAY of the spill.
After two months of fruitless requests from Gulf states for aid and permission to divert the oil, they begin their own cleanup operations...which are quickly STOPPED by Obama's Coast Guard.
Why? To check for LIFE VESTS.
There's a strong case to be made that Obama allowed this crisis to develop so he could exploit it for his 'cap-and-tax' agenda.

How do you explain his less than poor performance thus far in his presidency? All of the things you list as his supposed qualifications do not prepare him for the position of President. You can list them with as much conviction as you want. It doesn't change the fact that he is unqualified and the progress of his presidency and our country are the result. "Like community organizer, the job description of a civil rights attorney is so obvious. To feign ignorance is laughable."
Indeed, it is to fight racism by upholding racist policies.
"he taught Constitutional Law at the University of Chicago Law School. It's hard enough getting as a student there, let alone a teaching position."
If you put all the Constitutional Law professors on a train and drove it off a cliff, it would be. . . a good beginning. As for getting into Chicago Law, much easier if you happen to fit into one of their quotas. Sometimes as much as twenty or thirty times easier, than a similarly qualified applicant not in a quota category. Not that University of Chicago has quotas--that would be illegal. But they do like to look at the "whole student" in order to promote diversity.

This article talks about Obama's inexperience but glosses over the fact that his inexperience in managing is offset by his actual experience as a Saul Alinsky community organizer.
Obama simply refers to the Saul Alinsky handbook Rules for Radicals whenever he needs a publicity stunt to pull out of his hat.
For instance, after the health care debate he went right to Rule 5: Ridicule is man's most potent weapon. Example: After the health care debate he came up with a simple allegory, after signing the bill, he cracked that he looked around to "see if there were any asteroids falling," only to discover a nice day with "birds chirping."
This and the BP shakedown is prime Obama, operating under the rules of Alinsky.
That's his experience and he uses it every day.
It's simply the bad choice of the American public they put a radical ideologue in a position of responsibility. Now they will have to pay the price.
Mike D.| 6.18.10 @ 8:01AM
Saul must have left out the chapter in his manual for Marxists about what to do when you get there. This clown is so predictable along with his merry band of marxist/socialist academic pinheads he surrounds himself with. So we will have to deal with the inevitable trail of destruction when he is finally booted out and hopefully some kind of reconstruction takes place if its not already too late.
FTM| 6.18.10 @ 9:50AM
But Alinsky did say what to do and what was to happen "when you get there." the agititor when arriving in a position of political power is in turn to become the target of all the other agitators. Trust me on this one, I read the book. Alinsky style agitation isn't about achieving a political nirvana or agenda, it's about the process of agitation.
President Obama is an apparent expert at the art of agitition but appears to be short on the application of any kind of coherent agenda. Seems to me that he is trying to appease the Socialist, Political and enviro-mental activists/agititors that he's surrounded himself with but doesn't seem to be having any particular luck with any of them.
Patrick| 6.20.10 @ 6:17PM

FTM| 6.21.10 @ 6:52AM
"Dedicated to Satan?" ???!
Lookit, I do a little freelance penetration testing, internet hacking if you will. Nothing illegal, only with the computer system and/or website owners express written permission. The object being for me to break into their system and then explain to the customer how I got in. The owner then has the opportunity to correct the vulnerability in the system. The end result being more secure and more robust, hardened if you will, web applications, computers and servers.
Google the term "Monkeywrenching" for a more esoteric explanation for gooning up systems. The Monkeywrencher does for real world systems and organizations what the hacker does for computer systems.
Now, what Alinsky has done is to outline a system for "Monkeywrenching" political systems. Now, wether or not Alinsky meant to or not the end result will be political systems that are harder to compromise.
The conservitive can, using Alinsky's system, do for the liberal political system what liberals have done for conservitave political systems. For example, liberals own the main stream media. Who is it that owns a big portion of the blogosphere on the internet? Who is it that for sure owns AM radio band talk radio? Look at what is happening to the MSM, falling sales, less profitability, less viewer/readership.
Get you a copy of "Rules for Radicals" from Amazon.com or down to the local library and read it. Learn to shoot.
The system described by Saul Alinsky is no more a tool of Satan than is a gun. The gun serves whoever picks it up.

Maybe it's not about Obama. The article notes "His supporters say he is tremendously brilliant" but his supporters also said that Reagan was an "amiable dunce". Obama's life experience is that success is obtained by reflecting back what his mentors say, he's a completely unimaginative mirror, he's the perfect student. So perhaps the problem isn't so much with Obama, it's with his teachers who never learn. If you look at the Democratic Party strongholds, otherwise known as crime-filled illiterate debt-bombs, you see Obama in all his unimaginative glory. Of course his supporters think him "brilliant", he's says exactly what they "think".
Rebecca| 6.18.10 @ 8:22AM
The closest he has had to executive experience is the Annenberg Challenge, which he chaired, which spent millions and did not produce any measurable differences in the lives of the children who's lives it was intended to improve. It was also a social engineering project, similar to community organizing.
He is convinced of the value of formal, government directed social management (education for all, no fat kids, live in a city and walk to work because of global warming) and I find it offputting because it smacks of a religious organization. The emotional fevor of his campaign and supporters are evidence of a movement with the famous "believe" as important as "hope and change". It is classic mass movement language and imagery.
You can either have liberty or religion. He is choosing religion.

Democrats are already talking about running Hillary Clinton in 2012 rather than Obama. If his numbers continue to drop (or oil continues to spew) then he'll draw a primary opponent.
JP| 6.18.10 @ 8:59AM
With the exception of the oil spill, most of the problems approaching this nation were just over the horizon ( a danger of federal default on the debt, terrorism, Iranian nukes, EU meltdown, etc...). The President's handling of the BP oil spill is a huge unforced error. And as most people here agree, his lack of executive experience finally came home to roost. He took up the bait of this MSM handlers and went nuts. Everything from his faux anger to his extorting $20 billion from BP has backfired. He had the perfect oppurtunity to show off his cool, rational self to the nation. Instead of telling the people the truth (that it will be September before BP will have new wells online to divert the gushing oil from the damaged well), and deploying worldwide resources to clean up the mess, the President played golf, threw parties, and conducted fundraisers. He and his handlers learnt nothing from Katrina, Clinton, or the Gipper.
No one blames Obama for the well explosion. And even at this late date, the majority of voters want the President to succeed. They still want the President to proof his detractors (like those of us here) wrong. The BP disaster will eventually come under control. But, the damage to his reputation and the political fall-out will not go away. To most voters this is not what they bargained or voted for. For us, we can always say "we told you so".
The cynic in me fully expects the WH to concoct a fauc crisis sometime in the near future that will be engineered to make Obama look Presidential. But like Clinton's Wag the Dog stunt, no one will be fooled.

Obviously, BP is the main culprit, but government policies and lack of effective oversight are important factors.

Mr. Morris' comments, while partially accurate, leave a number of items pertaining to this crisis left unanswered.
Yes, the law was passed to alleviate the revenue burden, but this is offset by the sheer weight of the capital expenditure needed to accomplish the task.
Secondly, this was done to "remove" drilling from sight in a method very similar to the horror at the thought of windmills within view of Martha's Vineyard. Part of this was part of the capitulation to the environmentalists in not allowing drilling in much easier environments.
Thirdly, these activities have been accomplished safely huge numbers of times all over the world, in much less stringent (and more stringent) regulatory areas. BP screwed the pooch big time on this one.
Having worked in Exxon and Shell's drilling programs, this incident DOES NOT happen for one of those companies. It's not a matter of luck or fail safes...it's a matter of following standard common sense rules...which BP did not do...in this case.
Many are at fault for this incident, and while I'd love to be able to whack at Clinton one more time, this line of thought, while a contributing factor, is inconsequential to the event as a whole.

I just hope we make it through the next few years. I'm sure not alone in being afraid for the country and the world. On top of everything else, feeling like we have no one competent at the wheel is frightening. More than competence--someone who stands up for this great country that my brother died for.

Its just to bad that Colin Powell could not have been our first black president instead of this dolt. Or with Condoleezza Rice the first black and first woman president. The Bamster has run his course and should just step down. At least Biden has some experience.
Petronius| 6.18.10 @ 10:16AM
The late Stephen Ambrose expressed the same on one of his book tours after he exhorted us to write to the general in desire of his candidacy. Powell would have been a clone of Eisenhower; a master of inter service politics and a tower of passivity otherwise. He's already in the beltway clique. Why would he want any of the sturm und drang of that Office when he sits with the other king makers around the tables of Sans Soucie who command the pols on the Hill and the (Justices?) to do their bidding? The real government of this country is not in the congress or the white house or the supreme court. It's the beltway horsie set who control the lobbies, media, and cultural institutions. And we cannot vote them out!!
The Bishop| 6.18.10 @ 10:46AM

Obama is the worst man to become president. I keep hearing how great a guy he is - he seems like your "typical" thug to me. Not nice, but nasty.
Obama, faced with a crisis, is doing one thing. Telling his comrades in the House and Senate to vote for crap and tax. He cares not one iota about the people, the animals, the environment, etc., especially down in the south where millions of blacks live.
His teleprompter allowed him to be a brilliant guy for George Soros' agenda. The teleprompter isn't working any more.

"Do not blame Caesar, blame the people of Rome who have so enthusiastically acclaimed and adored him and rejoiced in their loss of freedom and danced in his path and gave him triumphal processions. ... Blame the people who hail him when he speaks in the Forum of the 'new, wonderful good society' which shall now be Rome's, interpreted to mean 'more money, more ease, more security, more living fatly at the expense of the industrious.'" --Roman statesman Marcus Tullius Cicero (106-43 B.C.)

No Ciceronean, I! If you want a man who talked his way into the Consulship and then displayed amazing lack of competence, hard to beat Ol' Marcus Tullius. A "homo novus" desperate to be accepted by the ruling establishment ("boni", or "best men"), he was a laughing stock among his peers, redeemed only by his foresight in having his slave Tiro record all of his speeches in the courts and Senate, so that he could "revise and extend" his remarks and publish them for posterity.

Purpleguy| 6.18.10 @ 7:02PM
Naw, just misread "voted" as "vote".. .no biggie.
I don't follow anyone off a cliff... you all are as wrong as could be. Spending high, yes, emergency spending needed, yes, deficit a concern, yes. But, please, this is coming from the bunch that elected Bush that squandered $5 Trillion between his giveaways and ill conceived wars and created more debt than all other Presidents before him combined.
Do ya think that might be part of the problem here? If you don't, you aren't paying attention to any economist for the last 2 years.
In addition, he and his cronies ignored regulations or eliminated them altogether .. in the interest of business. At the expense of us all, I might add. If he didn't create the downfall he sure added to it and hastened it along. I know he wasn't alone in that, but shit, you can't be seriously thinking that this all was created by Obama? 750,000 jobs lost/month when he was inaugurated, and now varying numbers of jobs GAINED/month. Who gets the credit for reversing the trend? Fate? The business cycle? Yo mama?
As far as the oil spill is concerned, remember Georgie Boy complaining that you go to war with the Army you have, and he had Clinton's Army? Well Obama is fighting the Oil disaster with Dubya's disaster crews. Difference is Bush could choose the time of engagement and WAR. Obama could not with the oil spill.

Good article; describes Obama to a tee. It also describes the problems we have and will have.
While it is true that most American now believe he is unqualified to be president they also suspect that he might not even understand the job, which is even more troubling, if not scary. His outreach to dictators and thugs should have ended when their reaction appeared to be more akin to the suspicions of a disturbed person than appreciation of the gesture. But his outreach has continued, not directly, but indirectly through his idiotic foreign policy decisions. By now our friends overseas must understand what and who Obama is and that they will just have to wait out this ingénue’s time in office.
Domestically it is pretty much the same thing, but Americans will also be treated to the spectacle of seeing his party brought down around him before he leaves office. It is only a matter of time before democrats start trying to save themselves by turning on thus guy. And will they ever stop ignoring the fact that Carter was our worse president to date? Not if they still want the black vote and perhaps more besides that. The dems will be put in the unenviable position of pedaling the oxymoron that Obama was a successful one-term president or they will have to pretend as hard as they can that he never existed.
All of this was Bush's fault, of course.

This is nothing more than another "Sarah Palin" political hackjob against Barack Obama, our Greatest President! Obama IS the most brilliant man to ever sit in the Oval Office. His insight, his vision for a New America most certainly supercedes the oil crisis, which is really a result of Bush and Cheney's corrupt administration. Had Bush and Cheney, not been in bed with oil buddies like this British twit at BP, the oil leak would never had happened! No, you can't blame Obama when idiots like Jindall and Barber get in the way of Federal Emergency Management Agency specialists and attempt to use unproven and non-approved methods to clean up oil. Convenient how you ignore the facts that the Deepwater Horizon was ALL in 0bama's court; that BP contributed more to 0bama than any other candidate; and how BP is so wired in to the 0bama vision of "cap and trade" that they will be major benificiaries if it gets passed.
And on what do you base your opinion that 0bama is the most brilliant person ever to be President? Chris Matthews said the same thing at one point in time (while his pants leg was wet; he's not talking the same way now, must have decided the cleaning bill for all his dirty slacks was getting too high). But whether 0bama is intelligent or not is not pertinent to his performance as President. What IS important is his leadership instinct, and he has none of that.
So I think it is about time you got your head out of that place where the sun don't shine.

When JFK Jr's plane went down, many of us did not use the "square box" analogy. Lack of experience and imagination were really not his biggest problems.
Rather, we said this was inevitable given the reckless, indulgent and pamper life led by the next generations male scion of the Kennedy clan.
Obama has led the same life without the Camelot glitter. Although he shares the same lack of experience and imagination, still, like JFK Jr, those are not Obama's biggest foibles.
Obama's massive ego, the easy glide path that has been the hallmark of his life thus far, along with his Marxist upbringing, is what will cause America to crash and burn.
Unfortunately, unlike JFK Jr, who took two innocent lives with him, Obama intends the crash of an entire nation. However, unlike JFK Jr., his plans don't include going down with the plane.
We need to take the keys away from this arrogant fool before it's too late.
If Obama insists on this flight plan, we need to send just him and his fellow Ds up in Air Folly One. Bon Voyage!
Stuart Koehl| 6.19.10 @ 5:25PM
All pilots would recognize JFK, Jr.'s situation as something much worse--a classic death spiral, resulting from trusting his feelings instead of the objective input of his instruments. Airspeed, attitude, altimeter. Center the needle, then the ball. Every tyro knows that. They also know that there are old pilots and bold pilots, but no old, bold pilots. Which would make a good epitaph for Obama's presidency.

I don't entirely agree with the author. President Obama has a list of stellar accomplishments to his credit. He has proven explicitly, beyond any reasonable doubt exactly how politically and ethically corrupt the Democrat party is. (This isn't to say that the Republicans are in any way much better.)
President Obama has successfully pulled off the heist of the century in extorting twenty billion dollars from BP. One of the Republican congresscritters called the pot black and was immediately shot down by his own party leadership. Hint, hint, get rid of these people! They just punished a member of their own party for telling the truth, there's a problem here.
President Obama's administration of the United States has already gone so far bad that he makes the Carter Administration look competant. Making the Carter Administration look competant so far has taken a lot of hard work, dedication and perseverence. Obama had a hell of a hill to climb to eclipse Carter.
President Obama has proven explicitly how not to hijack the healthcare system. I understand that twelve or so states have already filed lawsuits in the Supreme Court as to the constitutionality of the Federal Government requiring private citizens to buy anything. President Obama's hijacking of the American healthcare system is DOA.
President Obama has demonstrated by example how to take a severe economic recession and make it worse.
President Obama has demonstrated a long time theory of mine in regards to the intellect of the average in-duh-vidual out running around loose. President Obama was elected to the Office of the President of the United States based on two criteria first that he wasn't President Bush and second that he was/is/kinda-sorta black. A Republican candidate with President Obama's credentials wouldn't have made the ballot in a primary election in all fifty-seven states let alone winning a primary.
President Obama has proven that if you focus your attention on the project that you can indeed piss away four trillion dollars on nothing at all. This in my most humble opinion is President Obama's most compelling accomplishment. Imagine that you were to win ten million dollars (tax free) in the lottery and that you decided to spend only the intrest generated by this sum and never touch the principle. Simple interest calculation with a 3.o% rate of return, you'd have a little over $800.00 to spend a day. What are you going to spend $800.00 a day on? Do you honestly think that you could spend $800.00 a day for eighteen months?
The Obama administration has been a spectacular success so far. In order to capitalize on this success the Republican/Conservitaves need to do two things, first and most importantly fire all as in every one of their current leadership and replace them with people smart enogh to know better than to punish people for truthsaying. Secondly thay need to keep always and forever all of these accomplishments of President Obama's administration before the public in order to assure that there is never, ever again so successful a Democrat elected to a political office.

I have no idea when she an d his fater married, it doesn't matter, since his father was NOT a U. S. Citizen (not resident) Obamais not eligible to be the POTUS. Art.II section 1 is quite clear "no person except a natural born citizen.." you cannot be a "natural born citizen" UNLESS both parents are citizens. This among other things is why there is a need to get rid of borderbabies of illegal immigrants.

The simple truth no matter what you say now, is that he has 17 months Executive experience in the most difficult and important Executive job in the world. And only Bush I, Bush II and Clinton can claim that today, period. No one else can say that.
No one else will be able to match that experience come 2012 - so if experience is what you're after, he wins hands down. If accomplishment is what you're after - There are few people in history that have had to face all the problems he's tackled. Many were just too much for previous Presidents. Only FDR faced the Financial Regulatory issues that Obama faced. Only Nixon faced inheritance of a long drawn out war not started under him. 100 years of Presidents faced the Healthcare crisis in this country - Obama did something about it. Only GW Bush faced Terrorism like Obama does. No one has faced the Oil Spill in the Gulf, ever, the worst environmental disaster in history. Exxon Valdez is a blip comparatively. The list goes on and on...
So you want an experienced Chief Executive - you have one now. Prior to the election, okay, but that ship has sailed - he now is THE most experienced President in years.

The plain simple fact of the matter is Barack Obama is exactly what his detractors said about him and you can't handle that.Boo freakin hoo!

Obama did something about the health care crisis? Yeh, he made it worse. In the near future, instead of a few people being unable to get quality health care, no one but the very rich will be able to get quality health care.
Purpleguy| 6.18.10 @ 12:21PM
If you believe that, then I suggest you pull yourself up by the bootstraps and make thee rich. Otherwise stop whining about what hasn't happened. The rich ARE the only ones that get a private hospital room and THE highest quality care. No insurance provides that, period. And, that won't change.
JayDick| 6.18.10 @ 4:49PM
You may be right about the "hasn't happened" part. When the Repubs take over congress this year and the presidency in 2012, the Obamacare monstrosity will be repealed and we will have real health care reform, not just a government takeover that would only make things worse. If you prefer to have government health care, I suggest you go to Canada or Great Britain. I'd rather have things the way they are here now, with a few tweaks that are badly needed.
Purpleguy| 6.18.10 @ 6:24PM
Real HCR, under Republicans... don't make me laugh. They had all the levers of power for years, and did not one thing while healthcare costs skyrocketed. You might not like the solution coming from Washington, but it is change and something has been done. And, it's the height of stupidity to call it a Government Takeover of HC. The Government already regulates insurance, this will just make it more uniform, with the insurance companies still in charge.. You want to know what a Government takeover of HC looks like - look to Medicare; and this ain't it.

Let's see. Under Obamacare, the government will determine what organizations can sell insurance, what they can charge in premiums, who they will insure, which insured people will get what services paid for, how much the service providers will be paid for each service, when they will be paid (i.e., how late), how much profit (if any) insurance providers can make, and who can provide medical services. Insurance not approved by the government will not be available. Oh, and the much-liked Medicare advantage program will be gutted to the point it will probably disappear. Current state regulation will be replaced, so the rules will be uniformly bad throughout the country; there will be no opportunity to avoid a bad situation by moving to another state.
If that's not a government takeover, it sure is pretty close to one, much closer than most Americans want, based on the polls.
Purpleguy| 6.20.10 @ 10:30PM
Okay - let me take a crack at this list of "government takeovers" ......
"Let's see. Under Obamacare, the government will determine what organizations can sell insurance "what they can charge in premiums, who they will insure, which insured people will get what services paid for, how much the service providers will be paid for each service, when they will be paid (i.e., how late)" - all already regulated by the STATES, so what's your point?
"how much profit (if any) insurance providers can make, and who can provide medical services." - Okay, I'll give you that, but since insurance isn't market based, this is good.
"Insurance not approved by the government will not be available" - it isn't prior to HCR, so?
"Oh, and the much-liked Medicare advantage program will be gutted to the point it will probably disappear." - It's liked because a large cost is underwritten as handouts to the insurance companies... didn't you hear them moan about having to return their subsidies. This reduces cost, not increase it.
"Current state regulation will be replaced, so the rules will be uniformly bad throughout the country; there will be no opportunity to avoid a bad situation by moving to another state." - come on, as if anyone moves because they don't like their insurance? Are you kidding?
Nice list of talking points, but thinking people see through this...
What you're really worried about it Medicare for all (which would be great btw) ... not this HCR. But you think this starts us in that direction. The fallacy is that's being upset about tomorrow while it's still today.

"Only GW Bush faced Terrorism like Obama does."
Yeah, Obama "faces" terrorism by refusing to even admit that the perpetrators of terror are jihadi MUSLIM assholes. He faces terror by placing ROE on our troops in Afghanistan that are so restrictive that I'm surprised they aren't court martialed for cursing at the bad guys. He's facing terror by talking about when we're gonna leave Afghanistan in public, as if to say, "we're leaving on X date, so just bide your time until then." He's "faced" by his blundering responses to the Arkansas recruiting murder, which he barely talked about, the Ft. Hood massacre, & the whitey tightey bomber. He "faces" terror by directing the US gov't. to give money to HAMAS!. Yeah, he's "facing" terror. He's facing it with his head up his arse. Kinda like how you go through life, Purple Puke.
BTW, idiot. You missed the point. The point is that he had no executive experience BEFORE his debacle of a Presidency.

"Kept us safe" huh? The dead & wounded at Ft. Hood & in Arkansas & their families would beg to differ. Tell me how that "beats Bush's record." Yeah, they weren't mass casualty attacks, but successful attacks nonetheless. So no, I don't agree with you at all.
"You ought to try mental acuity sometime.. it might brighten your day. Your writing doesn't."
Ok, so I missed your admission. But for the likes of you to preach about "mental acuity" & then write such a nonsensical sentence is quite funny. Maybe you should go back to 5th grade grammar. I don't write to brighten my own day, retard. Care to try again, junior?

The shoe bomber was stopped by the passengers on the plane, under Bush's watch, so what? He was stopped.
Oh, and as for the Ft Hood disaster, the enemy came from within and from our own military. How much more insidious can it get?
It's likely the big, showy, huge casualty attacks are over, but the smaller, targeted attacks takes a change in tactics to discover I would guestimate. I believe that's why the Director of National Intelligence was replaced.
Oh, and when you throw out "your lack of mental acumen, Purple Puke" - what do you think you're going to get back? A "thank you kind sir" ? Not a chance - you'll get back what you give. "So you want an experienced Chief Executive - you have one now."
On the Job Training doesn't count. Besides, any decent executive knows that it is important to put skilled subordinates in key roles. Apparently Obama never considered that.
"So you want an experienced Chief Executive - you have one now."
And he has failed in almost every area he is responsible for. TARP and other short term stabilization measures were enacted by Bush prior to Jan 2009. The Stimulus has been one expensive mistake, as have his first 2 budgets (combined $2.5 trillion of debt. Bush's worst year was his last -$450 billion defecit). Foreign affairs has been one mis-step after another (just ask the UK, Poland, Germany, Czech, Hounderas, and Columbia). His securities policies will get some innocent killed (luck cannot run for ever); and his HCR is a social and fiscal time bomb.
"Only FDR faced the Financial Regulatory issues that Obama faced. Only Nixon faced inheritance of a long drawn out war not started under him. 100 years of Presidents faced the Healthcare crisis in this country - Obama did something about it."
And Obama's financial reforms will only strengthen the banks that got us into this mess to begin with. Goldman and JP will come out stronger than ever -thanks to the taxpayer set asides. Fannie and Freddie have a potential debt load of over $1 tirllion (that TARP failed to address). Obama ran on a platform that boasted he could do better. But he is making things worse (10% unemployment, $3 trillion of new debt, and a potential capital strike). And there was no healthcare crisis; but, there will certainly be one once Obama's HCR kicks in.
Purpleguy| 6.18.10 @ 2:15PM
"On the Job Training doesn't count. " - and what job did you ever have the OJT didn't count the MOST?
Interesting - Bush passed the TARP of 700Billion, but you charge that albatross to Obama. Okay ... The Federal Budget is done a year in advance, which makes this year's budget Bush's not Obama's .. okay .. Your little diatribe on foreign affairs is your and perhaps some conservadumb commentators opinions - okay. All of it's okay - because all of it is seen through the eyes of the conservative, and are just your opinion of events. It all stems from the Big Bad Government, huh? We'll all see, and then you can complain. Anything else is just political rhetoric, not facts.
Then why are you all so clamoring for the Federal Government to do something in the Gulf? You can't have smaller government at the same time is does whatever YOU think is important. The government has to serve ALL the people.
And, if you think having a Republican Congress will help, think again. It will be gridlock again.

OhBummer is a boob and a fool for attacking the American Tea Partiers. He is annoyed that they’re not grateful to him for hijacking the American healthcare system --- the greatest act of vandalism perpetrated upon the American people since a gang of jihadi frootloops and loonytoons hijacked some planes and crashed them into the World Trade Center towers, and the Pentagon, and made a failed attempt to crash into the White House and instead drilled a hole in a Pennsylvania farm thanks to some very courageous American passengers.
And --- now widely seen for what he is --- the president presents a problem for the Democrat-captured media. They pump out his propaganda for him --- and, like the opinion monitors in Ayn Rand’s novel, “Atlas Shrugged” --- they are dodging brickbats and rotten vegetables.
He’s pompous, pampered, and pretentious --- a pseudo-intellectual fop. He’s a glorified, smooth-lyin’ dandy, and slicker than Sick Willie Clinton. He’s a dictator-on-the-make, a bloodsxcking, predatory humanitarian thug, and a low-down skunk.
He’s a fraud and a swindler. He lies when he inhales and he lies when he exhales; his oxygen is the falsification of reality. He lies, placidly and laconically, as if deception were a soporific drug.
He’s a friend of the poor and the downtrodden --- indeed, you can hear the milk of human kindness sloshing around inside of him when he walks.
He declares himself the post-racial leader --- “Let me be clear!” he intones --- and he hides behind his race, daring his critics to put their reputation for fairness at risk.
He pauses to ponder the portent of his propaganda --- and it is fakery; he smiles and his mendacity comes shining through. Shake hands with Barak Hushpuppy OhBummer --- “The Mistake of ‘08” --- the illegal alien squatter in the White House --- and America’s first and last Arab president. Now count your fingers.

"No one has faced the Oil Spill in the Gulf, ever, the worst environmental disaster in history. "
Not by a long shot. Every hear of the Dust Bowl? Even if we stick to oil slicks, this isn't the worst one ever (nor will it ever become so): the spill deliberately created by Saddam Hussein in the Persian Gulf in 1991 was an order of magnitude or more greater than this spill. And guess what? by 1993, there was no evidence that any lasting damage had been done to the ecosystem of the Persian Gulf--just as no lasting damage was done to Prince William Sound by the Exxon Valdez spill.
It's typical hubris to believe that human beings have the capacity to do lasting damage to the planet, especially when compared to the power of nature itself.

Then there's the USA inflicted oil disasters and spills round the UK coast which we just efficiently sorted out. Get a life - it's an oil spill. Bad I'll grant you, but on a scale of 0 to 10 it's a 2 in terms of a disaster. Paul,
Anderseon flew out of India in a plane owned and operated by the Indian government. He stopped in New Delhi on his way out. His departure from India hardly constitutes being smuggled out and even if it did the party doing the smuggling would have been the government of India.

"That USA inflicted environmental disaster in India killed 25K people and the poison is still there (look it up on Wiki if you don't believe me). "
Not to pour cold water on your pity party, but Bhopal was mainly the fault of the Indian government, which insisted that unqualified Indian personnel be employed in critical safety positions at the Union Carbide plant. And it was one of those Indian workers who, through his personal negligence, caused the explosion that released the chemicals that killed all the people. Because the Indian government, corrupt, bureaucratic and wedded to the idea of a centrally managed economy, chose to pursue protectionism over competence. Sound familiar?
As for the Tsunami, there is that, plus several typhoons that killed more than 100,000 people in Bangladesh, and a couple of volcanic eruptions that make Mount Saint Helens look like a damp squib.

Ladies and gentlemen,
Please forgive my copy/paste from another thread.
I for one, am thankful to God that Mr. Obama is a weak, inept man.
Yes, I believe he is at heart a communist agitator, with a sizeable dollop of Islamism thrown in, but think about this for a moment.
If Ronald Reagan had been secretly committed to driving our country off the cliff into the abyss, he would have accomplished it in less than a year.
This weak inept man is also not very good at lying and misdirecting. He has shown us his cards, and his deepest motives. (He has always telegraphed his punches as he timidly ooches ever closer to the "showdown" with the American patriots...of every stripe.)
Folks,
A would-be dictator has to be willing to take ............personal.........life and death risks at some point. I don't think this man has the stomach for it.
Finally then,
We have a CHANCE to salvage our country...if WE have the stomach for it.
He has taken the "gradualist" approach as opposed to the Bolshevik "All out assault" approach, but as his backers see we patriots swelling in numbers and commitment, that could change...over night. Be yee a boy-scout...and "be prepared".
God bless America

Does anyone remember back near the end of the Carter administration (thanks be to Allah!) when President Carter's daughter (Amy?) held forth on the release of the second Star Wars movie ("The Empire Strikes Back")? She said that Yoda's ears were cute. It may have been the most intelligent statement ever to issue from the Carter administration, but I tarry.
I would like to grant a few square centimeters of ground to the brain-challenged Purpleguy and his associates. Professor Obama may be a punch-drunk Lefty loser, a new-age narcissist, a bilious know-it-all, a shallow child of his times, and the least qualified man ever to occupy the White House--but I believe it should be conceded to the conceited oaf that, among all his predecessors, Professor Obama has the cutest ears.

The fact of the matter is that the Sail Eared Simpleton (nods to a buddy on TownHall.com for that one) has no more BS to pitch. His own minions like Purple Puke may be too engaged in their fellatious love of him to notice it, but the minions in the media can sure see it. The rest of the country just doesn't believe a single word that comes out of his mouth.
There's NO DOUBT in my mind that this oil spill has been allowed to progress to the point it has BY DESIGN. It is, yet again, an illustration of THE core principle of this admin., which was explained so well by Rahm, "never let a crisis go to waste." Why not accept the assistance offered by 13 other countries to help out with the cleanup? Why not suspend the Jones Act, as other Presidents have done in similar situations? So he can repay his union goon butt buddies.
So now we have shaken down BP. 40% of BP stockholders are Americans. The rest are British pensioners. Since BP is suspending its dividend, now Obama has managed to screw them too, a la Chrysler bond holders. And this shakedown isn't finished. Just like the mob, this is a case of "once in, never out." And its a damned travesty that our country has come to this.
Purpleguy| 6.18.10 @ 10:57PM
Yep, that's good ol' conservative logic... when the guy you don't like does something you typically would cheer, you must do a 180, as ridiculous as it looks and you sound. Ask Joe Barton if he made a big impression today with his apology to BP ... He has now branded all Republicans with the defense of BP while calling the President's agreement with BP a "shakedown". In case you doubt that, over 100 Republican lawmakers belong to the Republican Study Committee, which was the first place "shakedown" was used. Don't kid yourself if you think this isn't going viral and has handed Democrats a wonderful gift to hit Republicans over the head this fall. Joe Barton might be responsible for 20 seats that Republicans might have won in the House, but now could lose this fall. Thank you, Joe. And, with nut case Sharron Angle and Libertarian Rand Paul running in what should have been easy R wins, but likely to lose to D's, it's gonna be a bluer country in November.
Even your own Republican leadership gets it... they made him apologize, twice, or lose his position in Congress as Ranking member on the Energy committee.
By taking the side of the bad actor BP, that took shortcuts in safety and disaster planning, you're betraying the conservative principle of holding the wrongdoer to account, holding them responsible for their actions. Why would you do that? Are you a hypocrite?
And, with nut case Sharron Angle and Libertarian Rand Paul running in what should have been easy R wins, but likely to lose to D's, it's gonna be a bluer country in November. 11/02/2010

"One day, you will all be glad he was here, right now, at this time."
That's probably true. One could make a case for the proposition that the abysmal Carter presidency was a necessary condition for the landslide victory of Reagan in 1980.
As the Romans used to say, Videbimus quod videbimus.
(In case you don't recognize it, that's Classical Latin, Purp. Roughly translated, it means "Thank God that Obama sucks.")
Purpleguy| 6.18.10 @ 10:32PM
Of course it was ... the doddering old fool could not get elected until after the Carter disaster, but 2 weeks from the election Carter led Reagan. I'm not sure what changed, but an October surprise comes to mind. Anybody know why Reagan surged in the last weeks of the 1980 campaign?
Liberal Reader| 6.18.10 @ 11:54PM

John II| 6.18.10 @ 11:57PM
You're right again, Purp. I completely forgot about the special deal made between the Reagan Machiavellians and the legitimate Iranian revolutionaries whom you otherwise admire.
But the doddering old fool did the same thing, only more so, in 1984. Memory fails, as I get older. I can't recall what THAT landslide was about. All I can remember is that it was unprecedented.
Tom| 6.19.10 @ 8:19AM
That October suprise was Reagan handing Carter his head in the second presidental debate in the last week of October. Anyone with even a casual knowledge of that election would be aware of this. It is pretty devastating when a President is seen on national TV admitting he asks his young daughter for advice. The political cartoonists had a field day with that.
John II| 6.19.10 @ 2:18PM
Purp on Reagan reminds me of Major Strasser in "Casablanca" commenting broadly on the "blundering Americans." To which comment the flexible Renault replies: "I wouldn't be too sure--I was with the Americans when they blundered into Berlin during the last war."
Boy, those were the good ol' days, when liberals were still patriots.
Anyhow, there's something reassuring about Purp's cocksure manner as applied to his/her degenerate lefty politics. Even Professor Obama--he than whom there can be none more cocksure--has said, in a recent interview, that he may be a one-term president. If he calculates so, and is even now starting to go for broke, throwing all political caution to the winds over the next two and a half years, his presidency may turn out to be even a greater boon than Carter's.
Imagine the Professor taking down with him into flames the whole nutwing American Left. Imagine.

The difference - Clinton had females on his mind and was able to dismiss Hillary's version of the New World. Bob Grant| 6.18.10 @ 7:57PM
The Mort Zuckerman piece today supports Mr. Oliver's article... My worry is when/if the second depression hits (an even bet at this point) in the not-too-distant-future, how will this lack of experience affect all of us? Say what you will about FDR, he at least had SOME background to indicate he was qualified to handle that crisis, albeit misguided. Also, what happens when a real international crisis crops up? These questions contribute to my insomnia.

It's that constant assurance of how brilliant Obama is that I find most annoying of all - the elites at the New York Times always gush about him along the lines of how he asks a million questions, or consults a ton of experts, or reads voluminously, or, or, or - except that there's never any tangible display of all this brilliance; if he's so dang smart, why is this country is in such poor shape??
It seems that his genius, if you want to call it that, is merely to get others to believe in his genius - and that seems to be good enough for the elites.

Examining BHO's behavior I will describe my personal thinking and why some of it though perhaps even true, would not fly in our country--yet.
Here is the deal. Why would president, any president--continue to trample on the majority of voters abd so continuously destructive as BHO has done. And, not overtly even care. Oh I know--I am not the fly on the wall and gee I wish I were.
BHO--real or an act get angry and hostile to any who disagree with him its as if only HE knows what to do and how to do it. But this is completely dilusional on his part because even LEFTIES to some to degree see the light--or should I say storm clouds on the horizon. Is it incompetence or is it something more sinister ?
I say more sinister. JKust looking how the government is mishadling the Gulf oil disaster, how it contiues to overspend, how it sabotages any enforcement of immigration laws, how it throws our allies under the bus. It all adds to to a piece. This therefore is the conclusion I draw.
BHO is a terrorist supporter in the white house. He is purposefully destroying this nation both its economy and in the military and foreign affairs realms. He does not care if he is impeached or does not get re-elected. his job and motive is simple: destroy as much as possible in as short a time as possible. I believe this is where he has been and where he is going. But, many even republicans are afraid of articulating there thoughts. Gd willing Republicans win the house and set up investigations of BHO as they have stated. ,Then, perhaps the evidence will fall into place to for all to see.
So first win the election then there is chance the truth can come dout.

“Again, The Deficit is Not The National Debt.”
Agreed, the national debt is to cumulative total of all the annual [budget] deficits since the founding of our nation.
Ronald Reagan ran budget deficits for each and EVERY year of his administrations totaling $1.7 trillion. Three times the cumulative total of $900 billion for all previous presidents.
George W Bush also ran budget deficits for each and EVERY year of his administrations totaling $6 trillion. More than two times the cumulative total of all his predecessors of $5 trillion.
Tim*| 6.20.10 @ 1:22AM
Wrong. You didn't include Surpluses.
The National Debt is the total amount of money owed by the government; the federal budget deficit is the yearly amount by which spending exceeds revenue. Add up all the deficits (and subtract those few budget surpluses we've had) for the past 200+ years and you'll get the current National Debt.
Tim*| 6.20.10 @ 1:33AM
Now look at Obama's staggering Debt.
The federal government is now $13 trillion in the red ( National Debt ) .
At $13 trillion, that figure has risen by $2.4 trillion in about 500 days since President Obama took office, or an average of $4.9 billion a day. That's almost three times the daily average of $1.7 billion under the previous administration.
vtwin| 6.20.10 @ 6:19PM
I don’t include “Surpluses” when referring to Reagan tripling or Bush doubling the national debt because neither had any “Surpluses”.
Putting that point aside, Reagan tripled (3x) and Bush double (2x) the “National Debt” during their respective terms in office.

The military run the country? When, before or after they finish the jobs in Iraq and Afghanistan?
T. Poole| 6.19.10 @ 6:00PM
VT, the military, if left to itself and even with the lousy, politically correct, leadership it now has could clean up the wars in shortorder; but there is no way they will turn loose the "warfighters" so long as we have liberal patsies in charge.
Unfortunately, I doubt that they would take on the job of "running America". First because it goes totally against the traing they have received that Civilians control their missions. Second most, if not all, military below the grade of Brigadier General/Rear Admiral are, or were in my time 'apolitical'. We may have hated the guy issuing the order (Carter for one) but our Oath is/was to the Constitution of the United States. My biggest problem with ther Constitution is that it is too vague as to what constitutes "high crimes and misdemeanors" or how many misdemeanors does it take to escalate to high crime. I frankly feel Obama has committed high crimes by giving aid and comfort to the enemy (militant Islam/Iran), and certainly by the number of 'bows' to tinpots around the globe he has demeaned the United States (misdemeaners). And so I would suggest we need a Constitutional Convention to clear up some of the vague spots, not to throw out the Constitution as Obama is doing. It takes 34 States to force one, I believe there are around 17 right now who would sign on, maybe the others will come around soon.

good luck with that.

Where were you when Bush passed "No Child Left Behind" which is step one the federalisation of the school system? Where were you when Bush passed "the Department of Faith Based Initiatives" which is step one in the federalization of religion.
You need to take a long look in the mirror and figure out where your true colors lie.

Since it is a foregone conclusion that most politicians are congenital liars about their education, military records, and now birthplace, why don't we have a Constitutioal amendment requiring that anyone wishing to be a candidate for office produce all that up front and then submit to psychological testing to rule out such quirks as megolomania, paranoia, narcissism, delusions of adequacy (oh, damn, there goes half the Senate, right there)
Bill Clinton, who was paraded before us as the Rhodes Scholar - did not complete his degree at Oxford - spent it protesting Vietnam - -hailed by an adoring press as the "smartest" President we have ever had. By whose standards? Has anyone ever seen a valid IQ test of Bubba's? A transcript of his grades? No, and in fact, there's another guy whose birth certificate you have not seen. Oh, we know where he was born, we just don't know who his Daddy was. Virginia may not have, either. The story goes that Daddy was killed in an automobile accident a little too soon for him to have been Bill's Daddy. (See book by David Marinus) In fact, when Bill was elected President does anyone remember the outcropping of all ex-wives of Bill's alleged father and all of Bill's unknown half-siblings? One a week there for awhile and all pretty low-rent types! It was documented that when Virginia married Bill's father, he was still married to someone else.
Obama is not the first shadowy figure we have had in the White House At least we know Clinton was born in Arkansas to a bar-fly anesthesiologist who had a claim of malpractice against her for letting a patient die on the operating table. At least we know Bill's brother was not in a hut in Kenya - even if our alternative knowledge was that Roger had done hard time for cocaine dealing..
Did we know about Billy Carter before we elected Jimmy? Would it have made a difference? Would we have tolerated Billy Beer and Biilly urinating on the tarmac of a Libyan airport? And making shady deals with foreign governments?
I think we will tolerate just about everything with a big "D" after it.
Al Gore was touted as being so much smarter than George Bush. Only later did it come out that Bush's grades were better than Gore's. What? You didn't know that? I am not surprised. We never heard during the campaign about Gore's flunking out of divinity school, I beleive it was - I don't recall exactly - but he did.
Without the veterans of the Swift Boats we would never have known the truth of John Kerry's 3 months' tour of duty in Vietnam. Whatever happened to the threatened lawsuit John Kerry was going to bring against them?
And what came of that? Well, besides Kerry's defeat, he Dems now use "swift-boating" to mean some kind of underhanded dealing.
OK, so now we have Mr. Green in So. Carolina - there is a prime example of vetting the candidate. How would you like his to be the deciding vote someday?
If you are wondering how we got Obama, my guess is there are more Irma La Dunces and Purplegays and Diva Shakeys than we think - PG being the one who thinks Obama won in a landslide.
Airline pilots have to have comprehensive psychological screening in order to fly 350 souls from SFO to JFK and this guy, who could not keep a Greyhound Bus on the road from Peoria to Elk Grove gets to decide everything in every facet of the lives of 320,000,000 because "it was time for a change".
In order to be hired in a non-security position at a major airline, every job I ever held was verified,
plus every level of my education, birthplace, etc.
No one ever asked Obama where he came from - even though he is on record as saying when he was running for US Senator, some smart-ass retort, "OK, so I wasn't born in the US, I am running for Senator, not President . . ." that was on open mike - and I am pararphrasng, but it was said.
And now, thanks to the UN-inquiring minds of the press and electorate, we are on Mr. Toad's Wild Ride - out of control.
Phil| 6.21.10 @ 3:03AM
And George Bush?
Anyone such as yourself who is so involved in party politics that you can't see and talk about the errors and ineptitudes of both sides is not a smart person.
Elle| 6.19.10 @ 11:54PM
T Poole "I frankly feel Obama has committed high crimes by giving aid and comfort to the enemy (militant Islam/Iran)".
You are exactly right. He should be impeached for betraying the United States to its avowed enemies. But where are the courageous politicians who are needed to make that happen?
martin j smith| 6.20.10 @ 8:24AM
This article points to BHO --the innexperienced, the incompetent. I do not buy thiss argument alone anymore. Again you must ask yourself this question why would a President in light free fall of approval, the threat of a political disaster--even to his own party-continue to persue destructive policies ? Dilusional-yes. This definitley part of the character of a dictator--the feelings of omnipotence. BHO is not kool, but detached--on a mission that he will will not stop. In whose pocket is BHO ? Who is really calling the shots ? What foreign governments are involved ?( as an aside, the same questions should have been asked about GWB on many issues BTW ). It is if we are to survive as a nation to get of this guy and his party from power ASAP. About 5 more months--practice your voting skills early and often !!!!!!!!!!!

If you read his two autobiographies and other analysis of his life you will discover he passed through, or by-passed, all the filters that normally determine an individuals path in life. He was raised by a very intelligent mother and grandparents who told him how great and special he was. His grandfather, out of guilt I suppose, provided baby obama with grandiose stories of his great and noble father. In his two auto-bios, obama likes to give the impression that he was always smarter than his peers and a natural leader as the person people inevitably turned to him to "set things right". This pattern repeated itself throughout his life: the radical leader in college, the Chicago community organizer in Chicago sent by some unknown entity; the golden-child treatment from his tribe and community when he visited Kenya (he was treated almost like a god as soon as his plane touched ground in Nairobi); the push by unknown entities for him to pursue a political career; and most dangerous of all, the 24/7 fawning of all things obama by the fourth estate (the media). Is it any wonder why he turned out the way he has when he's never been told no or of his limits?...this guy had a very small square box to begin with and approached his limit several weeks into his presidency.
Zorro| 6.20.10 @ 11:07AM
Does anyone think that maybe Obama should hire Rove, Cheney, and Woofowitz? (intended)
Phil| 6.21.10 @ 2:58AM
Those warmongers would be at home with the current guy, but no, that would be a bad idea.
Zorro| 6.20.10 @ 1:19PM

Let not us forget our forefathers and all the men and women who made the supreme sacrifice in all our Nation's wars to protect our liberty and freedom and our way of life.
It is so hard to believe that this inept , unaccountable teleprompter puppet who is directed on what to say and do by "The Regime" would be permitted to walk all over their graves.
With his resume he wouldn't be hired to run a small company no less OUR COUNTRY.
If allowed to go unchecked "THE REGIME" WILL BE A BIGGER SURPRISE THEN PEARL HARBOR AND 9/11 PUT TOGETHER !
It appears our only chance is the Mid-term elections if they occur on time with an absolute control on all "hidden" fraud and corruption.
Pete
Phil| 6.21.10 @ 2:57AM
Our forefathers owned slaved and didn't count women as people.
Much like his predecessor, he was hired by the people of the US to do the job. Apparently you believe anyone who doesn't vote for the person you want is an idiot?
Ahab| 6.20.10 @ 5:43PM
Obummer advocates keep extolling his "brilliance." Will someone please tell me about this "brilliance," as in, a light so bright it outshines all others? Where is this "brilliance" demonstrated? Are there any "papers" he's written while matriculating through the several colleges he attended that exemplify original thought on ANY subject?
Isn't it appropriate for a student to submit a "Thesis Paper" in order to graduate? What was it on, if he's submitted one? Aren't you supposed to have published, even in college, papers to your course instructor to prove you've reached the level of competence necessary to pass that course?
The Obummer has "Editor, Harvard Law Review" on his resume'! Where are the reviews of court cases, judicial decisions, constitutional law, or even precedents established in federal courts that are supposed to be the hallmark of the Harvard Law Review with his name on it? Was this an honorary post, and was he actually there? Where are all the proofs that demonstrate this "brilliance?"
I keep reading it, and hearing it; but, I don't see it shown anywhere, especially not from the Obummer himself. If he's so brilliant, then what has he accomplished that demonstrates brilliance?
We've bought into that premise hook, line, and sinker, and it's a lie. I'm not from Missouri, but do it anyhow. Show me!
John II| 6.20.10 @ 7:41PM
Ahab, allow me to explain. After more than 40 years in academe, I think I know how it works.
There are two kinds of "brilliance": (a) the kind that enlightens and (b) the kind that dazzles. But there are also two kinds of people who are called "brilliant": (a) those who are pretty smart but baffled by all the fuss, and (b) those who aren't very smart at all, but bask smugly in the unwarranted praise.
Professor Obama is a b-man. I know all this because I happen to be an a-man. In other words, I've been call "brilliant" and a "genius," but all I can do is wonder what the hell the people who say so (mostly students and a few passing teachers) are talking about.
Academia is a very weird place, with only intermittent connection to the real world. Professor Obama is of the academic world--he really believes the nonsense that nervous white people, academics and journalists, have said about him. And he's not even bright enough to wonder why they would say things so transparently preposterous. He simply believes what they say.
Because he's morally dumb.
Does that help?
Phil| 6.21.10 @ 2:53AM
Which are you? What qualifies you to make this statement? You appear to be neither A nor B.
John II| 6.21.10 @ 9:37AM
Which statement? I made several.
Long experience among the morally and politically deranged was offered in the first paragraph as my qualification, and I answered your first question already.
Are you a b? You certainly sound like one.
Ahab| 6.20.10 @ 11:25PM
Well, alrighty then, John II. I think I have the picture. And, indeed, what they do say is incredibly preposterous! The "empty suit" analogy is truly apt. He is there, but he's not.
The libs have bought a pig in a poke, and since the chips are now on the table, they're beginning to see they bought nothing at all, there is no substance, he's all smoke and mirrors. The problem, as I see it, is we're stuck with a CEO
Ahab| 6.20.10 @ 11:29PM
Fat fingered the keys and lost the connection. Here 'tis again.
Well, alrighty then, John II. I think I have the picture. And, indeed, what they do say is incredibly preposterous! The "empty suit" analogy is truly apt. He is there, but he's not.

The problem, as I see it, is we're stuck with a CEO that is unable to execute his office because of incompetence; and, unless something comes of the Daryl Issa investigation into the Sestak affair produces some results, i.e., impeachment charges to this president, there's nothing we can do about it until 2012.
Phil| 6.21.10 @ 1:52AM
Mr. Obama is a black man that managed to get elected in the United States. To count him out at any point now or in the future is just silly.
Ahab| 6.21.10 @ 3:30AM
Well, then, color me silly because this is a one term president, unless we can be rid of him before his term expires. That he is a black man is totally irrelevant to the issue. When are you idiots going to get it through your thick heads we don't care that he's a black man? We care that he is competent ya dope!

Opine
1. Pres O is a Manchurian President. Run by and for the Leftist Czars he has at his beck and call.
Competence is not needed. He does what he is told to do, says what and when he is directed. A complete puppet. Obvious to even his Press Secry Gibbs.
2. FP and our allies, & our enemies, are kept either with us or at bay via the good efforts of Mrs Hillary. Note her appearance at the latest DOD hearings. She looked horrible, wan, worn out. I sincerely believe, if not for her on scene efforts, this OBNA would have had us laid low long ago.
Hillary will never get the credit due her, for her efforts. Secry of States, labor on, unseen, unknown but they are the point of the Admin's FP Spear. Likewise the DOD secry. He is paying heavy dues for his efforts. Little or no support for any meaningful effort, constant derision, and no end in sight.
Bt
Article is clear, we, in our euphoria state, clearly elected a longstanding, angst driven, motivated, Leftist Organization. It is this Organization that is in fact running the show. Just as inept as Pres O, but FAR more determined, FAR more motivated, FAR more willing to re group, re do, press hard, even tho it is obvious they are failing. This group continues to make HUGE strides in undoing our Republic, most of it hidden.
We reap what we sow.

As a Democrat, Obama campaigner, supporter, voter, et al, I am approaching a feeling of doom & gloom when it comes to the Obama Presidency. I was for Hillary, but when Obama was nominated, I went with the flow - I cannot believe Obama is the same man who campaigned for President. He seems to be timid, lacking in leadership skills, egotistical & thin skinned. Noone cares about his personal ego or image, this is about our country and the good of it's people. So far Obama is beyond disappointing, it is becoming devastating to watch as he disintigrates before our eyes.
