Sestak: Brother Collaborating With White House

Scandal widens as Colorado Governor Ritter mentioned, Romanoff refuses calls.

…declined to say whether the alleged job offer was inappropriate and defended Obama’s integrity. “I think the president’s a pretty legitimate, you know, person,” he said.

In other words, Joe Sestak himself — by refusing a chance provided by reporters to say nothing wrong or illegal occurred — appears to believe that the job offer was in fact wrong. Or “inappropriate” as the Post politely describes this. He flatly refused a chance provided by reporters to say everything was on the up-and-up.

He chose instead to make a general remark that “the president’s a pretty legitimate, you know, person.”

In a particularly bizarre turn of events, Washington Post reporter Paul Kane tried to compare the Sestak story to the offer of high-level jobs in the Obama administration to then Senator Joe Biden (Vice President), Senator Hillary Clinton (Secretary of State), Congressman Rahm Emanuel (White House Chief of Staff), Senator Ken Salazar (Secretary of the Interior) and Congresswoman Hilda Solis (Secretary of Labor). There is no evidence anywhere, of course, that these jobs were offered in exchange for “anything of value” — one of several quite specific conditions enumerated in federal law. Had, for example, Obama gone to then-Senators Biden and Clinton early in 2008 and said: “Joe and Hillary, if you will not run for president against me I will make Joe Vice President and Hillary Secretary of State” then Obama would indeed have been in very deep legal waters. As would Biden and Clinton.

As mentioned in my initial story on this here on February 22, just such a public accusation was made by a Democratic governor against then-Senator John F. Kennedy in the race for the 1960 Democratic presidential nomination. The charge was angrily denied by JFK, quite specifically and correctly telling historian Theodore H. White at the time that “it is a federal offense to offer any man a federal job in return for a favor.”

Meanwhile, there is a second leg to this story — in Colorado. The potential involvement in this story of outgoing Colorado Governor Bill Ritter.

There Democrat Andrew Romanoff, running against incumbent Senator Michael Bennet, was reported by the Denver Post last September to have received a similar jobs-for-withdrawal offer from White House Deputy Chief of Staff Jim Messina. That story can be found here.

Romanoff refused the offer — and in fact just received a leg up from Colorado Democrats with a convention boost of 60% of the delegate votes that will give him an advantageous ballot position in his August primary challenge to Bennet.

I have now called Mr. Romanoff twice, once yesterday afternoon and once this morning, this time on the air with Denver talk radio host Peter Boyles. Once again, the New Media is stepping in to do the job the Old Media won’t do, this time in Denver. There has been no response whatsoever from Romanoff.

There has been, however, an interesting development in the Colorado story — regarding Governor Ritter. In a fashion typical of the mainstream media, the Denver Post, after the initial story last September, has effectively blacked out the blossoming Sestak-Romanoff-White House scandal. Talk show host Boyles urged listeners to contact the Post, which they did. In response, the paper’s Public Affair’s editor Chuck Murphy, responded with a statement that perhaps unintentionally revealed Governor Ritter’s involvement in the Romanoff episode. Murphy, in explaining the reason for a lack of follow-up on the Romanoff story, referred to what he called “the alleged efforts of the Obama and Ritter administrations to dissuade Andrew Romanoff from a primary.”

Yet in the story the Post ran back in September, while it mentioned that Romanoff had failed to persuade Ritter to appoint him to the then-vacant seat held by now Interior Secretary Salazar, the story never said Ritter was involved in any effort to have the White House offer Romanoff a job. Now, suddenly, Murphy refers to “the alleged efforts of the Obama and Ritter” administrations — emphasis mine. In other words, for whatever reason Murphy is saying the Governor was involved in the Jobsgate scandal.

With the President himself now saying personally that his White House will have a statement on the Jobsgate issue “shortly” and Press Secretary Gibbs saying after a constant hammering from reporters that there was “nothing problematic,” it appears the word “alleged” could be dropped.

But the eye-opener here is Murphy’s inclusion of the sitting Colorado Governor in this scandal. Which leads to another, Colorado-specific set of questions:

Has Andrew Romanoff, like Richard Sestak, received any phone calls from the White House to discuss the expected statement soon-to-be issued by the White House — as per the President at his press conference yesterday?

What did Governor Ritter know — and when did he know it?

Jeffrey, thank you [and investigative reporters/writers like Braithbart, O'Keefe, etc of the NEW MEDIA] for informing the public of these type occurances. Nothing sadly will acknowledged by the politicians involved [since it is simply THE CHICAGO WAY] and it will become another I DID NOT HAVE SEX WITH THAT WOMAN or I DID NOT OBSERVE ANY IRRATIONAL ACTIVITIES FROM REVERAND WRIGHT DURING MY TWENTY YEAR CHURCH ATTENDANCE moment. It'll be up to the voting public to correct the offenses in November and beyond, after now being adequately informed by writers such as yourself of the facts/truth!!!!

Awan Bwooks| 5.29.10 @ 5:11PM

Purplegay, why do they dislike us so at AmSpec?

Purplegay| 5.29.10 @ 5:13PM

Well, you, for instance, are effeminate, you have to admit.

Awan Bwooks| 5.29.10 @ 5:15PM

You know, you have a point there. Even Old Texican's wife has a bigger mustache than either of us.

Purpleguy| 5.30.10 @ 1:44AM

You forgot Sen. Larry " I HAVE A WIDE STANCE" Craig, and Rep. Mark "I DID NOT TOUCH THAT UNDERAGE PAGE" Foley - both Republican scum.

Awan Bwooks| 5.30.10 @ 6:18PM

Everybody as American Spectator knows that Awan Bwooks is a big fag.
Ken, Old Texican's wife, has more hair on her chest than Awan Bwooks and Purplegay have on both of their entire bodies combined.
The Houston Zoo recently asked Ken if his wife would like a small retirement cottage on the grounds of the zoo, but he declined for her, because the cottage has glass walls.

Bill Clinton:

I cannot tell a lie...

I did not have sex with Joe Sestak.

But I did proposition him.

Bruce | 5.28.10 @ 11:32AM

Next we'll hear "mom always loved you best!" out of whimpy Sestak. "My brother did it" - how lame can you get. From a naval Admiral, yet.

Are there no MEN in the Democrat party? Is there nobody with integrity in the Democrat party?

I know - silly question.

daddio| 5.28.10 @ 11:40AM

I knew he'd find a way to weasel out of this!

Stephanie| 5.28.10 @ 11:57AM

I bet the White House told Sestak he best play ball the way t hey want him to. Now we hear it was Slick Willy?! Where does he get the authority to offer someone a job in the administration? Who told HIM to do the dirty work? hmmmmmm? Sooo dirty it stinks.

erp| 5.28.10 @ 12:02PM

The scariest part of this is Sestak was an admiral in our navy!

John Navratil| 5.28.10 @ 12:59PM

The higher up in the ranks, the more political the job becomes. That is the nature of having a civilian and political Commander in Chief. Wesley Clarke is another example of a politically successful general.

Tim*| 5.28.10 @ 1:06PM

The Little Admiral Sestak was unceremoniously fired by then Chief of Naval Operations Admiral Mullen ,who is now The Chairman of The Joint Chiefs Of Staff.

Nobama| 5.28.10 @ 2:33PM

Mullen's a POS, too.

Merlin12| 5.28.10 @ 1:12PM

This is what happens in peacetime military establishments. Military advancement becomes almost totally a function of officer-corps politics, and the best of that breed rise up to become Admirals. Even Gilbert and Sullivan covered that one. "I polished up the handle on the big front door" ? What scares me is that the next big war may be over so fast that we won't have time to replace these nincompoops with fighting officers before it's over.

Interested Conservative| 5.28.10 @ 1:58PM

Courtney Massengale.

JmsA| 5.28.10 @ 3:57PM

Yeah, but he was promoted to it by Clinton.

Sam| 5.29.10 @ 6:07PM

What I don't get is why Sestak is saying all this stuff. He has absolutely nothing to gain from blowing the whistle on his brother and the president. Personal gain? No. Favor with the left? No, they hate him for this. Favor with the right. No, the right is focused on what this story means about Obama and Co. and would not dream of praising Sestak.

So why did he do it? Can someone explain?

Blackwatch| 5.29.10 @ 7:08PM

He misspoke! He's not honest.

BTW Pres. Clinton--you just blew out HRC's chances of the DNC 2012 presidential nomination. He's corrupt = She's corrupt. What a pair of dolts.

If they have a D after their name they are corrupt.

Sam| 5.30.10 @ 2:39PM

How do you misspeak about something that could get you in so much trouble? On multiple occasions? If it were Joe Biden, I might believe it. There must be something else going on...

ncatty| 5.28.10 @ 12:57PM

The transparency of this administration is blinding! My eyes!

MikeN| 5.28.10 @ 1:12PM

What's the big deal?
How could Barack Obama offer a job of vice-president, since it is not his to offer?
He could not offer Secretary of State until he becomes president.
These sorts of political trades happen all the time.

Nobama| 5.28.10 @ 2:27PM

If these sorts of political trades happen all of the time why are Democrats scattering like cockroaches every time they're asked about the bribe they offered Sestak?

Tim*| 5.28.10 @ 1:18PM

So do other crimes .

And your point is ?

Ken (Old Texican)| 5.28.10 @ 1:20PM

Folks,
I am just sick at heart today.

It just seems that these communists, (pardon the shorthand), are "doubling down" on their lies to de-construct a "we the people" country.

I am now awaiting the "October surprise" to the November election from these bastards. I keep wondering what the "surprise" will be.

Tim* et al are screaming "fire the RINOS", but when it comes down to only TWO choices on most ballots...what are the TIMS* going to do?

Ladies and gentlemen, the WORST RINO is better than the BEST communist, ( pardon the shorthand again)....but the Tims* forget...or ...lie.
The tea-party is great and I am a proud member. Having said that, we gotta' NOMINATE solid conservative candidates. The battle is RIGHT THE HELL NOW!

Come November, there will be only TWO choices; slavery or mere frustration.

Tims* get your heads out.

I fully expect another kick on my door, folks.
That's OK!

I fully expect The Spectator to be shut down, along with Rush. For months, I have been advocating "show up every first and third Saturday mornings of the month...at your county courthouse lawn."....if that occurs.

Please remember that.

Please remember as well that there will be "provocateurs" on that lawn trying to put you in jail......just like we have here.

Ladies and gentlemen, the communists, (pardon again), have now been elected. They do NOT want to lose their power.
They will do anything to keep their power...anything.

If you abhor guns...then take EMT classes.

God bless America.

Are you one of the imbeciles pretending to be Purpleguy or me on other blogs here? if so, you are about as funny as full cat litter box.

Alan: Send me your address, and I'll send you back $10, so you can go to your local comedy store, and buy yourself a sense of humor!! Get over it already!! Are you drinking again Alan? You've really got to stop!! And anyway, I kind of like the new Alwan Bwooks (or whatever the name is) more than the "actual" Alan Brooks (and I'm sure I'm not the only one who does). So let it go already!! Now seriously, what's your address? I want to help!!

Ken (Old Texican)| 5.28.10 @ 8:50PM

LL&L,

I rarely forget my thesis, so how could I be confused with Alan...writing double posts?

He is truly drunk or medicated today. Heh.

Lullaby's, Legends and Lies| 5.29.10 @ 9:33AM

Ken: You mean it wasn't you impersonating Alan? Damn!! I was just trying to throw Alan off your trail, so you could continue on!! But what Alan is really depressed at is this week's Rasmussen Poll ratings, they had President Obama down to -22, and poor old Alan down to a -47. So I'd be drinking too with a crap number like that!! And I don't drink!!

Blackwatch| 5.29.10 @ 7:13PM

Ken I like your saturday county courthouse meeting strategy, however in the west the county courthouse could be 50+ miles one way. It's 36 miles one way for me. How about a local highschool meeting instead. That would be much harder for the FEDS etc. to stop, infiltrate etc. I will atleast see some familiar faces in the crowd since they will be my neighbors and not complete strangers from the entire county.

more input from the readers. what do you guys/gals think??

oldefarte, comparing barry to billy jeff? what? I would say that this sleestack stuff is way more comproable to what Nixon did than to what Clinton did. All hail the crook Onbiaxmoan! Hopefully barry's first (and hopefully last) term will end like Nixon's second term, with Barry getting on Marine One and flying off into obscurity.

Anthony| 5.28.10 @ 4:09PM

Only Obama could mutter an incohert response to Major Garret's question with a " We'll get back to you on that with a response" and get away with it from the fawning WHPC.
If Bush had done this, whew!!! the fur would be flying, and that senile old bitch in the WHPC, Helen Thomas, would have her lip stick all over her face in a rage.
But this farce would not be complete without Bill Clinton being in the middle of it. The supreme liar in chief is needed to coach the community organizer liar in chief.
Neither Clinton nor Obama would recognize the truth if it was written on Monica's thong, assuming Barry's into woman's thongs.

Campy| 5.28.10 @ 4:36PM

LOL! That was sweet, Anthony! What a way to start a good weekend. Thanks!

Lullaby's, Legends and Lies| 5.28.10 @ 4:59PM

Funny post Anthony!! Poor old Helen Thomas!! Why won't anybody tell her that she actually died ten years ago, but she just won't get into the box yet? She's just sad now, and kind of creepy too!!

I just finished watching Sestak's explanation on Capital Hill, and it didn't look like he believed one word he was saying (He kind of looked like Helen does). And this guy was an Admiral in our Navy? You'd think he'd have just a little bit more honor than that, and not continue on with the lies of the Administration. Someone said it earlier, and it's true, I see it at my level in the Military (and I'm not very high up at all), "The higher up in the ranks, the more political the job becomes"-John Navratil. When they're that high up, they're no longer soldiers, they're just Politicians!! And we've got too many Chiefs, and not enough Indians already!! I hope Sean Hannity doesn't let this go, because there's more to this story, and you know it!! If this was the entire "real" story, than this story would've come out a week after Sestak first said it. It stinks to high-hell!! Phew!!

dw| 5.28.10 @ 4:22PM

will the lies never end.. everyday I wake up and say it is unbelievable that the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA is being led by a group of communist(short hand intended)...And every day there are new lows achieved by this regime... clinton is a proven, caught red handed liar.... obamination has lied on every campaign promise he made and lies to us daily(None of which has ever surprised me)...they all lie,lie.lie,lie.... they choose which laws to follow and which ones are not politically advantageous to prosecute..... The line between right and wrong, truth and lies, for them, is a blurred line of negotiation and nuanced definitions of the word "lie".
Clinton thinks oral sex is not sex.

Bill is back in the saddle again up to his bridle in ooze.

Oldefarte| 5.28.10 @ 4:51PM

I just recently watched a DATELINE type report about a sinking cruise ship off the African coast, where the ship's captain/crew pushed aside the women/children first rule and jumped abord the evacuation boats. Once ashore, the captain even radioed the ship. I now wonder if that captain could have been Sustak?????????

David| 5.28.10 @ 5:08PM

No one should believe their story. We already know that Obama and Rahm lie. We have seen it and that is the Chicago political way. We already know that Clinton was impeached for lying under OATH. We have seen Sestak for months say over and over he was offered a high level job in the administration by someone in the White House. If this is not a coordinated cover up, then Sestak should immediately withdraw from the Senate race because he is a big fat liar. Sestak had not done anything wrong to this point, but now that he has climbed into this bed of lies, he will probably be the only one to go down for it. To have played this up for 3 months, and now they put out this ridiculous story. It took 3 months to investigate one phone call between Sestak and Clinton???

Get to the bottom of it Darryl Issa. When repubs get control of the House in November, serve the subpoenas. This stinks and is messier than that oil leak.

335blues| 5.28.10 @ 5:09PM

WHAT WE HAVE HERE IS A FULL-BLOWN COVER-UP!

SO OBAMA GOES TO A WELL-KNOWN PERJURER, BILL CLINTON, AND GETS HIM (WOONDER WHAT THE BRIBE IS) TO LIE FOR OBAMA. WOW.

WHAT WE MUST DEMAND, YES DEMAND:

GET SESTAK AND OBAMA IN FRONT OF A GRAND JURY PANEL, THEN IT WILL BE PERJURY.

SESTAK SAID REPEATEDLY HE WAS OFFERED A JOB.

A JOB.

AN ADVISORY PANEL IS NOT A JOB.

STAY ON THIS PEOPLE, DO NOT LET IT GO AWAY. OBAMA HAS COMMITTED A CRIME AND MUST BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE.

LibertyAtStake | 5.28.10 @ 6:53PM

"I can assure the public that nothing improper took place."

Not quite as entertaining as "I never had sex with that woman...Miss Lewinsky." But how appropriate the Boy President himself will be caught in colluding with Apoligizer-In-Chief in the Impeachable Big Lie.

It's a good day for the future of the republic.

[For a light hearted take on our present peril]

Emma| 5.28.10 @ 8:50PM

So Congressman Sestak thinks that obama is "...a pretty legitimate, you know, ... person...." Well, good for him. Is that not an illustration of damning with faint (very, very faint) praise?? Stock up on popcorn.

bluecollarbytes| 5.28.10 @ 8:55PM

If it wasn't for the known 'high integrity' of Obama and his machine, it might look like there's an effort here to get all the various stories straight. Obama can get away with anything because he still has extra credit going due to his mixed race. This is not a racist claim, but the simple truth that everyone knows. He'll have to screw up worse than Carter & Clinton put together before the media and DC Borg ever admits the obvious. Imagine George W Bush offering a job to Pat Toomey to drop out of a primary against Arlen Specter. We'd still be in Democrat hearings today as they investigated 'the criminal actions' of the evil Bush.

Gold BC| 5.28.10 @ 10:24PM

Will Bill be tagged as an unindicted co-conspirator? If indicted I hope Fred Thompson is not on the jury. Fred will find some specious argument to acquit Clinton.

Rev. Nathan Bickel | 5.28.10 @ 10:25PM

It now seems very apparent that this whole White House job offer reeks with foul bribery.

The unfolding events, also clearly illustrate that when there is more than one person not telling the truth, chances are extremely high that the collaborated account does not match the individual [lieing] stories. [In short, liars cannot agree on one story]

Hopefully Obama will not get away with this apparent dishonesty as he was given a pass on the firing of special prosecutor Judge Walpin.

JJ| 5.28.10 @ 10:33PM

obstruction of justice is no big deal either. nobody is taking home any cash. its not murder. its just one of those little things we could really probably all overlook and get on with our lives except when the president of the united states is the one doing the obstruction of justice. like nixon.

so here, offering a bribe, something that is, we are told, done all the time in washington and is, we are told by msnbc, really no big deal is probably not a big deal except when the president is directing it. like obama.

lets stop the wheeling-dealing white house right here and now before they wheel and deal anymore.

prosecute.

Nathan Bickel | 5.28.10 @ 11:09PM

JJ:

Offering a bribe -- no big deal, because politicians do it, all the time? Oh? Just because people do not tell the truth all the time, doesn’t mitigate the dishonesty. Just because people commit bribery all the time, doesn’t lessen the corruption.

Politicians have been given the pass all too often. They use the rationalization that whatever they do, that is of a dishonest nature, is justified, because it fits within their [self conceived] political correctness parameters.

A special investigator cannot be called upon, soon enough.......

Warrior | 5.30.10 @ 9:09PM

The statists got Scooter Libby convicted in court by a special prosecutor who had already deemed that no crime had taken place in begin with. Now where actual crimes have probably occurred, we are to take the stance that it is no big deal? I'm ready to form a star chamber.

Nathan Bickel | 5.28.10 @ 11:17PM

What's the old adage? "If you tell the truth you will never have to remember what you said"

It seems apparent, that Congressman, Sestak, didn't memorize his lieing lines.

Oh what a web we do weave when at first we try to deceive.

FTM| 5.29.10 @ 3:18AM

There are three ways to lie.

The first way to lie is the way that we lie when we are children. "Hey mom, there's a blue giraffe in the front yard." It's the easiest way to lie and also the easiest way to get caught lying. As a result we stop lying in this fashion early on.

The second way to lie is to only tell part of the truth. The news media and politicians lie in this fashion as a matter of routine. News is boring if cut from whole cloth. Omit certian details and sensationalize others and you can sell newspapers. Money is what it's all about.

The third way to lie is the way that the military lies and that's to tell the absolute, unvarnished truth in such a fashion that it won't be believed or understood until it's too late.

With this information in hand please consider that the Republic is fallen. Any civilized culture relies on the equal and unpartisan application of rules. Please notice that I didn't say bi-partisan.

What you're looking at here in this country is a three tier justice system that I call "the Just-Us" system. The top tier are the politically connected, the wealthy and the criminal convict. President Clinton committed purjury in front of a federal judge. You pull that stunt and you're looking at five years in a federal pen. If O. J. Simpson had been a janitor instead of a multi-millionaire he'd be on death row right now and nobody would care. Criminal convicts can file lawsuits all day long with state supplied legal assistance because they have nothing better to do. These three classes have unrestricted access to the legal system because one way or another they can afford said access.

The second tier is occupied by the cops and lawyers and judges and folks of this ilk. The reality is that cops don't write cops tickets, unless the cop in question, or judge is way, way out of line. I made a horrible mistake one time and got involved with cops in handgun shooting. I've been informed by cops on more than one occasion that "I have the badge and I have the gun and I am the law." Personally I don't like the attitude.

The bottom tier of the Just-Us system is where you and I reside. get a little bit out of line and the system will land on you like the wrath of God. I made a decision a long time ago that is Ossifer Friendly ever showed up at my house that I'd listen intently, nod my head at all the right places, sign whatever papers he had to be signed and as soon as Ossifer Friendly was out of sight I'd be in either Cana-Duh or Mexico as fast as I could get there, in route to someplace that is fairly bug free and the natives aren't too nosey.

You're not going to be tried by a jury of your peers. You are going to be tried by twelve people that are too stupid to figure out how to get out of jury duty. That's reality.

The obvvious stratification of the justice system in this country, the morphing of the justice system into the Just-Us system is the end of polite society and the beginning of the tyranny.

This case, should push come to shove, the system will be aligned in such a fashion that in the end the quo will be preserved. There might be one ot two sacrificial lambs but the guilty will continue on with business as usual, unhindered and unabated.

Lie number two has in the past prevailed in such a situation and will prevail in this situation. There will be a lot of posturing, finger pointing and back biting but in the end nothing of substance will happen.

crookedwren| 5.29.10 @ 8:29AM

I can hear Bob Bauer now: Would someone tell Sestak to shut his mouth? Why did he bring up the call to his brother?

Why?

Folks, watch what the other hand is doing.

What was in the Defense Bill that -- as I understand it -- passed yesterday? A gazillion dollars in bailouts to teachers and others? Did SEIU get some relief from it?

Perhaps I'm wrong here -- I actually had to attend to some real life stuff in my own backyard yesterday instead of keeping an eye on the final demise of liberty in the no-longer free world.

I keep seeing smokescreen here. Yes. Laws have been broken here with Sestak. That's evident. It's right out there.

But Clinton lied, too, as heretofore aforementioned in comments above. And look how he's suffered from it (NOT)!

FTM, I hate to think that you are right about juries -- I DO think there are a few good citizens out there who understand the importance of fulfilling this vital civic duty -- but it's a line that strikes something of a chord.

Stormy| 5.29.10 @ 10:15AM

I fail to understand why apologists say that activities such as this happen all of the time in Washington and business as usual. That's the very reason for the rise of the Tea Parties and anger against Washington of both parties. Getting rid of politicians who "do this as business as usual" should be the order of the day. What we need are some governmental leaders who have integrity and ethics. They are not the boss of us, but we are their bosses.

What is a better word for shameless?

Old Tex is right about the october suprise, so I think we oughtta turn the tides on this bunch of festering corruption, and produce one of our own!

The reason we have this problem, is because we decided to run guys like Santorum out of town, stayed home, or voted for democrats instead of RINO's, as much as I despise them.

Elections have consequences, don't make the same mistakes again!

This combination of the Chicago gangster politics, that disbarred felon Clinton, and the Communist in charge Abu Hussein al-Nairobi - and combined with the Americans' naivete - is a deadly cocktail for which there is no remedy. My friends, it is too late, and we are all cooked. Back to Bulgaria of the 1960's!

Obviously no one in the WH was willing to be the frontman on this issue so they found the only volunteer in the Democrat party that may have to lie under oath and commit perjury. But what did they have give to the volunteer?

What price did the pay for Bubba's assistance?

A divorce maybe? ;)

Truthyness| 5.30.10 @ 3:23PM

This must really stink if Nate hasn't posted here (oh, but wait, I'm Nate, according to one guy).

I just hope that the Obama WH can't be kept on the defensive about this, with a compliant old media and Democrats in charge of both houses of Congress. Sestak is a flake and he's now a corrupted flake, so I hope as well this finishes him in PA.

I'm gonna save you here Truthy and become the last commenter on this sickening subject.
I have fought desperately to not yield to the temptation of abject cynicism. I keep hoping that something will come along to restore my faith and keep the fires of hope alive.
But. it ain't gonna happen.
This nation is corrupted to such a degree that only an intervention of some higher power will straighten it all out.
Alas ,it is not his intention to straighten it out.
There will be Judgment . There will be Punishment.
May God have Mercy on our souls.

WRJONAS....No despair allowed! I just read everyone's post.....What an amazing crew of patriots to behold , YES all of you! True goodness, some serious, many funny but all from involved, amazing americans...I learn form you all and many others do too. Keep on keeping on and do not give up the fight. STAY POSITIVE. LOVE YOU ALL, Mimi

Mini, I've thought the same thing many times. There's hope for this country with such smart people like this in it. Too bad they aren't the ones in charge.

eMail from "a good friend of ours" in South Philly: "So Don Obama orders Consiglieri Rahmba to settle a family problem up in Pennsylvania, and he has Bubba Luccabrasi call Joey "the Leeward Sailor" Sestak and ask him nicely to back off and leave Snarlin' Arlo's territory alone. And Joey says no way, so Bubbalucca makes him an offer he can only refuse, and Joey not only refuses but he forgets the usual quiet way we do things, and he goes on the cable TV and he tells everybody in all the families and the FBI what went down— makes it sound serious, but he don't say what the offer was and that Bubbalucca made it. Meanwhile, Joey whacks Arlo, so Don Obama needs to fix things and he calls for a sit-down among all concerned, and presto, Joey's back in the family's good graces even though he broke omerta and defied the Don, and is probably gonna get whacked by the Twoomy family anyway. And then, get this: to add one more unordered anchovy to the pizza, now the Feds are back looking into things! This thing of ours is falling apart, and we done it to ourselves when we got behind the wrong guy to replace Don Giorgio. We shoulda got behind Bubbalucca's wife and then we coulda had some change to believe in."

OH, MY ....GOD!!.....You got to love the GENERAL on this one! I can't stop laughing!

Ana| 5.31.10 @ 5:19AM

Rod Blagojevich must be smiling like a Cheshire cat right now!

DonDuke | 5.31.10 @ 1:59PM

When I read this kind of thing about the silly dems.... all I can think about is...... Can you imagine what would be going on if this had happened to Bush?!

Thom| 5.31.10 @ 6:43PM

When all is said and done (not), makes one wonder why anyone bothered to press charges against Rod Blagojevich a year and a half ago? What was the point anyway? Al Capone would certainly appreciate all the irony of this. He got away with far, far worse practicing the “Chicago way”.

AKGuy7| 6.1.10 @ 12:13AM

Really feel sorry for Mr. Obama. He has to deal with the Gulf oil slick and Slick Willie at the same time.
