The Blame Game

Nobody does it better.

Regardless of what you may read in the papers or see on TV, these are not the best of days for Barack Obama and his administration; double digit unemployment, nuclear tensions emanating from our ever-worsening relationship with Iran and most distressingly for his friends on the left, a bleak outlook in the mid-term elections. Yes, the gales of November would seem to augur bad times for the president and his party. Signs have pointed to this for some time, but the surest indication is the use of the term, “anti-incumbent,” which is flowing like water from the mouths of the liberal punditry. When the excuses are prepared six months in advance, you know it’ll be brutal.

Now the reason for this is surely the nation’s distaste for the left-of-center agenda Obama and the Democratic Congress have foisted upon us, but another factor just has to be some measure of the public’s growing dislike of the president’s persistent habit of lecturing. This man possesses an almost psychotic need to scold all those who don’t comport themselves in the ways to which he thinks they should become accustomed.

Now some might say that his prior career as a political activist has not supplied him with the necessary credentials to preach to any and all segments of the private sector, and they would be correct.  They might also opine — as did Robert Duval’s character to John Wayne in True Grit when he said, “That’s pretty bold talk from a one-eyed fat man” — that our president may be ill-equipped for his current duties. But none of this seems to deter our Commander-In-Chief from hectoring the likes of coal mine owners, the insurance industry, Big Oil, Wall Street, banks, pharmaceutical companies and any other capitalistic pigs he thinks have made “enough money,” and are thereby at fault for all his problems.

But his pedantic concern does not stop at haranguing only those entities that might actually create jobs for those unlucky enough not to bathe in the wealth of municipal unionhood, where too much money is never enough. He has also seen fit to reprimand sovereign states that do not live up to the high standards apparently enjoyed by his own home state of Illinois. He has criticized Texas for not taking federal cash, Virginia for not properly chastising herself for slavery, and of course Arizona for daring to protect her own borders. Also on his list for public chiding are the Supreme Court of the United States and the ever popular “anti-government zealots.” When it comes to the Blame Game, this man surely has no equal.

Come on everybody,
I say now let’s play a game!
I’ll betcha I can tack a crime onto anybody’s name.
The first lesson that I learned, when I came up to DC,
Was that I could attack, anyone who’s not PC.

And so I just focus in like a laser beam and I let the accusations flow;
And it doesn’t really matter if they’re wrong or if they’re right
Just as long as there’s some woe;
Then I pile on the guilt so they can feel the shame,
And there isn’t anyone that I can’t blame.

GM!
I don’t like those SUVs;
Now show me electricity
Or you don’t get no do-re-mi!
GM!

BP!
Oilmen don’t do it right,
Although they keep us warm at night;
That spillage will keep them contrite.
BP!

But if conditions aren’t enough to inflame,
It’s still a snap to keep them tame;
Like Ari-zona, with its racist persona;
Or big old Pharma that’s so full of bad karma.
And what about them right-wingers at SCOTUS;
I sure found a way to give them notice.

Okay? Now say “banks”!
Now “fat cats on Wall Street”!
Then, go S-E-I-U!
Then you call your friends at ACORN, and get them to
complain,
Then the A-C-L and U.
And when your buddies in the press step up their game
Then they’re won’t be anyone that you can’t blame!

Everybody try Bush!
No mo’ George Bush;
The cause of all our woe, Bush
Too bad he had to go, Bush;
BUSH!

The Blame Game!

Yes, Ms. Fabrizio, the hectoring and lecturing from The One who knows all and only wants what's best for the downtrodden as long as they aren't Americans or conservatives or Republicans gets really old. We are the world -- not America according to The One. Borders? What borders? We must welcome all and take care of all because we are evil Americans, and it's for our own good.

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep...but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." C.S. Lewis

Great quote Deborah. Thank you for posting it!

Michael L. Hauschild| 5.20.10 @ 10:39AM

Like quotes? How about this one?
"You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that, my dear friend, is about the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it" - Dr. Adrian Rogers

Can I add just one more quote that I feel is applicable here?

The question was posed to Harry Truman in "Plain Speaking":
"Mr. President, it's been said that the Presidency is the most powerful office in the world. Do you think that is true?
Truman: "Oh, no. Oh, my, no. About the biggest power the Presiden has, and I've said this before, is the power to persuade people to do what they ought to do without having to be persuaded. There are a lot of other powers written in the Constitution and given to the President but it's that power to persuade people to do what they ought to do anyway that's the biggest. And if the man who is President doesn't understand that, if he thinks he's too big to do the necessary persuadaing, then he's in for big trouble, and so is the country."

Very prophetic, Mr. Truman!

How is this for a saying? If you give someone a can of oil they can drive their car for a day. But if you teach them how to drill for oil they can bribe conservative politicians to deregulate the government ruin the planet's ecosystem help ruin the economy all the while stealing billions from the very taxpayers they claim to want to help. They can pretend to be family values salt of the earth while screwing their gay lovers and pages help the rich elites engage in the most outrageous transfer of wealth in history. They can be the most brain dead greedy leaders this country has ever seen and buy all the media up so nobody will tell on you. They can set up there own system of justice so that no matter what crimes they commit be it torture, constitutional crimes , illegal wiretapping, financial robbery, war profiteering or ecodestruction they will never be charged with anything let alone see jail time. All the while taking their legal bribes and pretending to be moral and read the bible.

So ridiculous, it's not even worthy of a response.

Alan Brooks| 5.20.10 @ 11:05PM

Karl Rove was the blamer of all blamers; read his book, 'Courage or Consequences':
everyone is responsible for what goes wrong-- save for Karl Rove.

Richard Baker| 5.20.10 @ 7:47AM

His Majesty the Kenyan seems to forget, if he ever knew, that in a Free Society the "King" is not exempt from disagreement or disparagement. Maybe he should review President Adams' Alien and Sedition Acts as bedtime reading.

DaveS| 5.20.10 @ 8:26PM

Have we noticed more and more the references to poor old George III? In other words, why do we continue to struggle with getting rid of a king now and then? Accountability is for thee and not for me. The man has been over his head from day 2.

Curly Smith| 5.20.10 @ 7:52AM

I think that history will disagree with this statement "these are not the best of days for Barack Obama and his administration". In the coming months and years Obama will look back fondly on the spring of 2010 and say "those were the days". The world was his oyster. He got the Holy Grail passed, Nationalized Health Care, he fueled a race war, he stepped up his attacks on private enterprise, and he heaped additional scorn and derision on the American people. He'll sit in the Oval Office in 2011 and wonder where it all went wrong, why he's ridiculed and mocked. And he'll say "what's with the giant attack rabbit?". History will indeed repeat.

Bill Hussein O'Stalin| 5.20.10 @ 8:53AM

Funny thing about playing the blame game. Sooner or later it goes full circle and ends up where it belongs.

Don't forget that blame is an act of censure. When used by political officials in power towards others, it is simply a thinly veiled tyranny.

When you offload blame by the truck load like Obama, not only is it used to keep others in their place, it becomes your style of failure.

On a political level blame is a propaganda tactic and has been used by slick politicians for 2,000 years.

Blame is used to divide people and when it's used by the likes of Obama, shows his darker side as a manipulator, most likely someone who has always wanted to be a bully but never had the power.

Blame is also used for scapegoating when someone is too weak or unprincipled to stand up and take responsibility.

In essence, Obama may have some serious psychological underpinnings which would prevent him from working at many jobs where he wouldn't get past the psychological screening.

JJ| 5.20.10 @ 9:11AM

He will demonize every segment of America during his 4 years so he can have his life-long excuse for getting thrown out of office: It wasn't me, It was America.

Meanwhile, what a comedy watching him yesterday as he welcomed illegal immigrants into the USA.
Not one reporter asked when he was sending his legislation/proposal/overhaul to Congress. He let himself off the hook and the media played along.
And we wonder what is wrong with America?
The media is our poison.
Fix the media and we never get an Obamanation again.

1FreeMan| 5.20.10 @ 9:12AM

Remember when Kerry lost and he was on TV telling the audience "I just don't understand"?

The liberlas are so self-loving, so inwardly enamored that they simly can not understand they they are wrong. How can a self-anointed intellectual, "I'm doing it for the children" socialist be wrong?
This way of thinking leads to a scorched earth mindset where they will resign from office (after the cocaine bust, rape charges of the teenage interns, and the pending investigation on war profiteering) when they are actually dragged out of the building in handcuffs. There is no reasoning with these fools. They would rather burn the whole place down (progressive socialism) than simply resign. They are better than you and will not stop. Honor... what's THAT? You can't spell "HONOR" with any of the letters in LIBERAL.

1FreeMan| 5.20.10 @ 10:33AM

WOW... how many typos can I put in one post.

Sorry folks, in a hurry for the door this am.

Kenneth E. MacAlister Jr.| 5.20.10 @ 10:42AM

"Honor... what's THAT? You can't spell "HONOR" with any of the letters in LIBERAL." Good one 1FreeMan. You can sure as hell spell the words "LIE", "LIAR", "LIBEL", & "BILE" out of the letters of the word "LIBERAL" though can't you! Take care & GOD bless!

Folks,
This is one of the finest articles I have read this year. It is in fact a free ranging interview with a world renowned author.
(I am going to buy her book today.)

I'm tired of Obama, wish he wasn't on every channel, at all the sporting events, doing everything but trying to govern the nation. He's so petty, always making wise-cracks against anyone who disagrees with him or his policies. Obama's primary job is to protect the American people, and yet he joins with Calderone to criticize America! This dummy has no concept of his role and position.

Kenneth E. MacAlister Jr.| 5.20.10 @ 5:15PM

"This dummy has no concept of his role & position." Exactly right Matt & that is precisely why the loons on the left & in the Democrat Party nominated him & voted him into office along with the politically ignorant among us. The left can easily manipulate this clown to do their bidding precisely because he has no concept of his role & position as you stated. They wanted a walking, talking dummy & got exactly what they wanted. B.O. stinks!

mullethead| 5.21.10 @ 9:19PM

Yeah don't just hate it when the colored's get uppity!

Wilfred| 5.20.10 @ 9:39PM

I have come to the conclusion that, deep down, Mr Obama hates America.

Why else would he so consistently insult our friends, kow-tow to foreign potentates, & embolden our enemies by his sniveling apologies?

This hatred of America is the Occam's razor which explains most of what Mr Obama does.

Yosemeti Sam| 5.21.10 @ 12:41AM

Yo, BHO is a Nero - in his own mind.

Fires?

Fires?

What fires?

Jerry| 5.21.10 @ 1:46PM

Agree that Obama is terribly thin-skinned and has a tendency to mock and belittle for the offense of....disagreeing with him. Honest differences can and do exist. You don't always have to lampoon your opposition and hurl counter-accusations. His most egregious behavior is demeaning and minimizing the tea party people.

Jerry| 5.21.10 @ 1:47PM

OH....I wanted to add something. I think the writer should skip poetry. It was awful. Iambic pentameter all wrong. Does that make me a hypocrite now?

Oldefarte| 5.23.10 @ 3:24PM

Hopefully the American taxpayer-voters will continue to discover the TRUTH about ths administration, and to PLAY THE BLAME GAME in November and beyond!!!!!!!!

WAKE UP| 5.24.10 @ 1:00AM

Obama is NOT a President, he's a campaigner - and he's still campaigning.

WAKE UP| 5.24.10 @ 1:03AM

ps - Wilfred is right, especially about the Occam's Razor aspect of Obama's behaviour. Obama hit the ground running (first stop Cairo), to get it all in place before we woke up to him. But we're gaining.

Wrong, read the comments on this board or any of your many articles and you'll see you blame everything on those that don't share your views. Even more so than the puppet and chief. Everyone loves to blame others no one wants to look at themselves for anything bad. It whether your right or wrong on today world it where you place the blame. Here's hint from a real non partisan, it par for the course for the political parties to blame and point fingers you only notice it because it your "enemies" this time. Next time when it your "guy" in the seat you'll mysteriously find it "comforting" and probably say" he's not scolding..he's only telling it like it is." I see over and over. Currently, I have to scold the idiots that actually thought this guy would bring the kind of change that help them. Ideology before all else is the problem and there is no lack of it here either. A sad state when party become more important than country and its people and from both sides.
