The Times Square Surprise

Often things take place that one never would have imagined.

WASHINGTON — As we read the news about this Pakistani jackal who admits to planning a cowardly assault on hundreds of innocent people in New York’s Times Square, a thought that occurs to me is, how endlessly interesting history is. Often things take place that one never would have imagined.

For most of the last decades of the 20th century America girded its loins to defeat world communism, at the time led by the Soviets and the Chinese. We lived in fear of nuclear holocaust. We feared Soviet domination. Once our partners in thwarting Nazi domination of the West, the Soviets had replaced the Nazis as our enemies. Their war machine was even more deadly. It could bring down on the globe eternal night. We expended up to nine percent of our GDP annually to protect ourselves. We devised policies to neutralize Soviet aggression. Finally, when President Ronald Reagan faced down the Soviets with a vast arms build-up and a resolute, albeit flexible, foreign policy, his Liberal critics warned that we faced nuclear world war.

Of a sudden the Soviet Union collapsed. And what was the Liberals’ response? Well, it was one of history’s surprises. The Liberals announced that the Soviet Union had been a paper tiger all along. It had been destined to collapse from day one. All our military appropriations were a waste of money. Oh yes, and one other surprising detail. It was not Ronald Reagan’s vigilance and resolve that ended the Cold War but Mikhail Gorbachev’s good sense — though practically every one of his policies and policy pronouncements was a failure. In, say, 1985, if you had asked me what the national response in America would be at the peaceful collapse of the Soviet Union by the end of the decade, I would have predicted national jubilation. I would have predicted that Liberals (many of whom, certainly up through the Johnson Administration, were vigilant opponents of communism) would join with conservatives in a general feeling of goodwill. Both could take credit for their successful defense of democracy against tyranny. Instead the Liberals told us that our efforts against the Soviets were a waste.

Surprise, surprise — yet the Liberals’ response to Islamofascism surprises me more. Islamic terror is anti-Western, anti-democratic, fundamentalist reactionary, nihilistic, and repressive of some of Liberalism’s supposedly favored groups, women, gays, and household pets, namely dogs living indoors. It is also fascism with a Koranic prescribed beard and burka. Yet the Liberals do not even want to use the term Islamic terror. The mosque is about the only house of prayer that they have any sympathy for. They depict the Tea Party movement as more troubling than fundamentalist Islam protesting in the streets.

Just hours after this Islamic brute attempted to kill the peaceful denizens of Times Square, many of whom were doubtless followers of Islam, Mayor Michael Bloomberg speculated to the press that the perpetrator of this attempted atrocity was “a homegrown, maybe a mentally deranged person or somebody with a political agenda that doesn’t like the health care bill or something….” Later, there was more. He would not tolerate “bias or backlash against Pakistani or Muslim New Yorkers.”

Now the mayor was manifesting the Liberals’ time-honored suspicion of his fellow Americans. Those of us who have studied the Liberals’ bugaboos as they pollute our political culture (we call the phenomenon Kultursmog) are familiar with this idiocy. We saw it during the Cold War when suspicion of communist infiltration of government was described by many Liberals as a senseless “Red Scare.” With the release of the Venona files and of research from the KGB’s archives we now know many of the accused Reds were in fact communist spies. We also saw the Liberals’ suspicion of ordinary Americans — or at least conservative Americans — when their first suspects after a communist assassinated President John F. Kennedy were Dallas conservatives unnamed. Now the mayor’s first suspects upon the discovery of a bomb in Times Square are opponents of the health care monstrosity.

Returning to the Liberals’ sympathetic treatment of fundamentalist Islam, let me proffer an explanation. Liberals are sympathetic to it because it is anti-American and anti-Western. In fact, that is the only explanation. Liberals such as Mayor Bloomberg are not very comfortable with their fellow Americans. That is one of history’s surprises.

Has anybody in the press asked the idiot mayor about his comments since the terrorist has been caught? You would think there would be some journalist who would be chomping at the bit to pounce on those stupid remarks...

Grant| 5.6.10 @ 1:12PM

REF: CB IS CORRECT!

My guess is that the script for the aftermath of this latest of the bungling "terrorist" attacks was prepared well ahead of this Times Square stunt.

Mr. Bloomberg is only the front man for the clown troop in the Big Rotten Apple crime family. Mike Bloomberg, the best mayor money can buy, a made man just doing his job. What a joke, not smart and damn sure not wise. Just arrogant and they have been caught with their hands in the till, yet again.

Unbelievable.

Alan Brooks| 5.6.10 @ 4:20PM

The terrorist looks like Johnny Depp... say! there's a starring role for Depp, in a flick that can be released in 2012:

***Times Square***, produced and directed by Oliver Stone.

PsychoDad| 5.9.10 @ 1:07PM

Are you kidding? They're busy doing their best to run cover for such idiocy.

Kelly Staples| 5.6.10 @ 7:25AM

Bravo Mr. Tyrrell!

Jon B| 5.6.10 @ 6:18PM

Mr Tyrrel is esstenially a revisionist extraordinaire. Just an all to common liar.

http://www.debbieschlussel.com/

"Shahzad’s visas and various applications for citizenship were approved, nearly every step of the way by President Bush–the man who pushed through rubber-stamping of many Islamic immigration requests and increased the number of Muslim immigrants and visas to Muslim entrants into this country. ... President Bush deliberately quadrupled the number of Muslim student visas Clinton gave out, a promise to Bush’s Saudi buddies. When Shahzad was no longer in school–during the Bush Administration–Bush made no effort to deport Shahzad, as his student visa was no longer valid and he was here illegally....
After he was no longer a student, Shahzad applied in April 2002 for an H1-B visa, and was granted this. After all, the Bush Administration was big on the baloney that there aren’t enough skilled workers and we need to bring them here (to take American jobs).

And as I’ve noted on this site many times, top former Citizenship and Immigration Services officials repeatedly protested Bush’s policies of pressuring benefits adjudicators to spend less than five minutes per immigration and green card application... Those who spoke out–like CIS Director of Security Mike Maxwell and adjudicator Sultan Farrakhan–were fired by Bush and his political appointees. "

At least some conservatives, like Schussel, prefer reality.

stmichrick| 5.6.10 @ 8:12PM

Hey Jon
I don't think Bob Tyrrell mentioned Bush once in the column. I think you've been mesmerized by Debbie's glam shots.
Why not respond to what was written? Liberals have a blind spot for Islamists because they are anti-west. Simple.

Jon B| 5.6.10 @ 9:51PM

The Soviet Union was already collapsed in 1981. Reagan hid the CIA's economic reports from Congress and began an arms build-up. Reagan also gave Russia $425 million to speed up Perestroika by "a year or two (according to Russian legislators)," so it happened on his watch. The military build-up against Russia began many moons ago before Reagan with the idea that their system wouldn't be able to keep up, but was the arms race the actual reason they collapsed? No. With or without an amrs race, they had a poor system that didn't translate into the kind of profits we enjoyed. If we are going to argue along the same lines as Mr Tyrrell, than we can justifiably say that Reagan caused the Soviet Union to improve their economic system and hence, they now have a greater ability to create more competitive weapons in larger #'s while keeping essentially the same form of tyranny they had before Perestroika, only slightly more domesticated. That is the current reality.

Mr Tyrrell then blames the "liberal response" for the problems with Muslims, however, it was Mr Bush's response that quadrupled Muslim immigrants, not liberals. Likewise, Obama is going after al Qaeda when Bush chose to cut-n-run from them instead focusing on privatizing the oil wells in Iraq (which also failed).

So I did indeed address Mr Tyrrell's main points in the article, and you want me to divert from it for some reason.

Marc Jeric| 5.7.10 @ 12:28AM

Jon Boy is a follower of Abu Hussein al-Nairobi, aka Obama, and is evidently a student of history. However, for this escapee from a communist hell he smells of a sick intellect, profoundly infected with that dead 150-years old theory of marxism.

Reasonsjester | 5.7.10 @ 3:41AM

It is no use arguing with people like Jon Boy. They are simply not interested in facts, plain and simple. They are delusional, and it is impossible to do psychotherapy in one online thread.

But in the interest of due diligence, let me eviscerate your argument, Jon B.

The Soviet Union was not "collapsed" in 1981. This is the exact sort of self-serving idiocy on the left that Mr. Tyrell is talking about. The reason you claim it was "collapsed" is because you don't want President Reagan (a man despised on the left because he cut taxes, raised tax revenue, made people get jobs and accrue a little self-respect, and pressured the poor Soviet Union through military spending) acquire credit for helping to usher in the USSR's formal demise.

(By the way, Reagan also attempted to implement severe economic sanctions on the purchase of Soviet oil and gas, but the sophisticated Europeans, who now squeal about their dependency on the Russian gas that is streamed through Soviet-era pipelines, apparently knew better than Reagan.)

Now do most conservatives think Reagan single-handedly brought the Soviet Union down? Of course, not. Much of the damage to the evil empire was self-inflicted, such as the Soviets' misguided adventure in Afghanistan.

But did Reagan play a role? No doubt, he did. Let's briefly examine the record to get an accurate overview of events.

Ronald Reagan came into office in 1981. Reagan incurred hundreds of billions of dollars in debt attempting to outspend the Soviets on advanced weapons technology like SDI (apparently "Star Wars" was not so far-fetched to the Soviets, the Russians have been obsessed about the U.S.' potential to implement an effective theater-wide missile defense system, despite effective counter-measures such as MIRVs). Not only that, he had the gall to stand up to the Soviets, which inspired people around the world to oppose them. (If you think this is a conservative fairy-tale, have lunch with a non-communist from Eastern Europe who remembers Reagan sometime.)

The Soviet Union, in its own regard, went through three Premiers from 1981-1985, before Gorbachev became GenSec of the Commies: Brezhnev, Andropov and Chernenko. The USSR would last until Poland seceded in 1989, and would be followed by East Germany, Romania, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, and Hungary, among others.

The people who lived in those countries in the 1980s would disagree with you that the USSR was "collapsed" in 1981.

But let's just say you are right, and Reagan had nothing at all to do with the collapse of the USSR. One might conclude that the Soviet experiments (plural) show that communism is not only a system that leads to poverty due to its lack of real-world applicability, but it is demoralizing and leads to alienation in society.

But you will get no such admission from the left. History is only useful if it suits the left's purpose.

Incidentally, the "privatization of the oil wells in Iraq" went swimmingly in the latest international tender. But wasn't the left's last argument that we went to war for oil to begin with? It is hard to keep track of the arguments of people who are systematically brainwashed into thinking the capitalist system that affords so many people comfort and a opportunity is inferior to the demonstrable misery that proceeds from communism in all its forms and applications.

Jon B| 5.7.10 @ 1:30PM

Reagan raised taxes that affected the low and middle classes more several times, and his tax & spend policies quadrupled our National debt in 11 years. You live in a delusional world of your own creation. Let me quadruple your debt, so you can brag about how great I am too. We've never recovered from this massive debt and likely never will now. Reagan's economy was nothing more than a "Pleasure now, someone else will pay it off later" plan. But I see that Reagan made you "feel good," of course, which explains the blind obsession with obscuring the facts to fan your flames of worship.

Reagan, the man who raped Selene Walters in 1953, and dumped his girl, Jackie Parks after he knocked her up, was never the hero many on the right claim he was. His deregulation of the banks led to the S&L crisis, a fore runner to today's economic woes. Reagan admitted to a room full of reporters that not only did he know about Iran/Contra, "but it was my idea in the first place." Source: Republican Lawrence Walsh in his book "FIREWALL: the Iran/Contra controversy and cover-up." Over 500,000 civilians perished in Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, and Honduras during Reagan's escalation and support of brutal dictatorships/Death squads in Central America.

But he's your "hero." Nice job boys...

Nick| 5.7.10 @ 1:52PM

Pay no attention to Jon B, folks.

He peddles lies and marxist propaganda. Oops! Redundant.

Like the lie that President Reagan gave the Soviets $425 billion.
After 3 days of trying to belittle those of us who called him out on his lie, he finally admitted his fabrication.
Although, he then claimed it was a mistake That it was actually $425 million, but he offered no source. Just his deeply flawed memories.

He also doesn't know that, in America, we refer to it as the Supreme Court Of The United States (SCOTUS), not US SC, or United States' Supreme Court.

What a moron.

Jon B| 5.7.10 @ 2:30PM

I'm not saying that "Reagan had nothing to do with" the collapse. I am saying that he was essentially a cheerleader for it, and played a role in it, but it wasn't in any way the crucial role. He knew what he was doing, and what this meant, and played it to the hilt the way any actor would. He cheered the collapse, and that helped, but he didn't bring it about. Russian legislators and his buddy Gorbachev say the same thing. Saying Reagan brought it about is like saying France caused the American Revolution.

Nick| 5.7.10 @ 2:31PM

Where's that source, Jon Boy?

victor| 5.6.10 @ 11:58PM

Jon Boy is an esstenially a revisionist extraordinaire. Just an all to common liar quoting another known liar:
http://www.debbieschlussel.com/

Jon B| 5.7.10 @ 1:31PM

If you can prove that Schlussel lied, please feel free. Otherwise let it be known that your lies about Schussel aren't flying as high as you are.

PsychoDad| 5.9.10 @ 1:09PM

In other words: "Blame Bush."
Pathetic. Just pathetic.

Kenny| 5.6.10 @ 7:45AM

If you want to hack off liberals from the bottom (your local village nut case) to the top (B. Hussein Obama in the White House) and all in between, fly an American flag. They absolutely hate it!

I just put mine out.

Purpleguy| 5.6.10 @ 2:06PM

I never take my flag down... it waves proudly all year 'round.

Nick| 5.6.10 @ 3:46PM

PurpleJackass,

Kenny wrote "American flag", not a Soviet flag.

Or, is it a Mexican flag?

Alan Brooks| 5.6.10 @ 4:29PM

Flag?
We are practically waving a white flag at Mexicans.
"Come to America and do what you want" is the subliminal message, and if Arizonans want to do anything-- no matter how insignificant-- in 'beefing up' border 'control';
then Bloomberg will say "Arizona cannot tolerate bias or backlash against Mexicans!"

Haven't you heard? Bloomberg is in the run for presidency, 2012.

Alan Brooks| 5.6.10 @ 4:34PM

... Bloomberg hears 'Hail to the Chief' in his ears.
He sees a banner: "President Michael Bloomberg, 45th president of the United States."

Purpleguy| 5.6.10 @ 5:42PM

So it makes you feel all warm and fuzzy to cozy up to a Communist? You sure bring it up over and over again. Why would you keep doing it, if you aren't secretly in love with the idea? If you want to fly a Soviet flag, that's your right, but as for me, my American Flag is flying proudly in front of my house all year round.

Nick| 5.7.10 @ 12:56AM

Surrrrrrre you do, PurpleJackass.

How many times have you burned it?

hardcard| 5.6.10 @ 7:53AM

why would the press want to ask dumberg a question? they are on the same commie/prog fantasy tour. wake up !!! did pravda question the kremlin?

CB| 5.6.10 @ 10:54AM

That is my point....we have Rush, Hannity, Beck, but NOBODY in the print world who can ask the obvious to Bloomberg? I would think that there was somebody who wouldn't mind trying to make a name for himself, but maybe not.

Purpleguy| 5.6.10 @ 2:09PM

Because the group you mentioned above either know the answer they will get when they ask, or they don't ask anyone .. they just throw out "now why would that be ...." innuendo to stir the pot. And, Rush cuts people off when they get too feisty with him, now doesn't he? He gets all flustered, like the windbag he is...

Nick| 5.6.10 @ 3:50PM

Pay no attention to PurpleJackass folks.

He doesn't even know that Virginia governors don't run for re-election because they can only serve one term, then have to wait 4 years to run again.

He also likes to berate others for spelling "hypocrisy" wrong, and in the same post he wrote "hypocrit", like a moron.

He is not worthy of debate with grown-ups.

Lullaby's, Legends and Lies| 5.6.10 @ 8:15AM

Mayor Midget is a complete idiot!! He's living off of the success that Mayor Giuliani put in place in NYC years ago. I hope the restaurant that he gets his breakfast from everyday, is secretly putting salt on his eggs, to spite him!! How many times, and for how long, do we need to be attacked by Islamic terrorist, before they'll be comfortable identifying who the bad guys really are? How many times do we have to hear about the "Timothy McVay's" out there, or Right Wing Extremist's, or Tea Party members, or former Military members, being responsible for today's threats, when it's not the real problem? Face it, it's Islam!! And it has been Islam for a long time!! And any religion, that hate dogs, is a religion that deserves to have a cop car parked just outside their door during service's. Is that profiling? Too bad!!

Rick Cross| 5.6.10 @ 8:40AM

The proverb says: "The enemy of my enemy is my friend." Islam and Liberals have a common enemy, which is Christianity.

Howard| 5.6.10 @ 10:41AM

And Religious Jews can be added to your list.

Howard| 5.6.10 @ 11:04AM

I mean to say Christians and Religious Jews face hostility and more from Islam and from Leftists.

Dixie Pixie| 5.6.10 @ 1:49PM

Now I really confused.
Even more than normal.

In Norman Podhoretz's book “Why are Jews Liberals?”, he implies that Classic Liberalism is simply secularized Judaism. This would certainly explain why 75% of the Jews voted for Obama.

So here is my confusion. If Liberalism [Secularized Judaism] is trying to drive Christianity out of American Politics then why would the Liberals make a common cause with Islam whose core concept is to make Politics and Religion one. Don't the Liberals know every Islamic Revolution has resulted in a general massacre of both Jews and Liberals. Can the Liberals be that stupid to sleep with rattlesnakes?

Purpleguy| 5.6.10 @ 2:13PM

Nobody's driving Christians anywhere ... they never were in politics... separation of church and state ya know. The Christian Right may THINK they were in politics, but they were just the religious whores for the Republican party. They have since wised up and have seen that light. Otherwise, WTF are you talking about?

Eric Cartman| 5.6.10 @ 2:32PM

Hey everybody! Purplehead has joined us! He was sent home from work because he got mad at a coworker. You see, they were trying out a new scanner and . . . um . . . Well, here's the story: http://www.nbcmiami.com/news/l.....71929.html

Glad you've calmed down, P-head.

Eric Cartman| 5.6.10 @ 2:38PM

The whole sordid story is here: http://www.thesmokinggun.com/a.....1tsa1.html

Poor Purplehead - I mean, it isn't his fault gifts are passed out unevenly.

Purpleguy| 5.6.10 @ 3:27PM

What a brilliant comeback...

Eric Cartman| 5.6.10 @ 3:31PM

Thanks! It was, wasn't it? I mean, funny AND true! Not everyday ya get a twofer.

Nick| 5.6.10 @ 3:38PM

Mr. Cartman,

Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!!
Excellent, sir!

Dixie Pixie| 5.6.10 @ 4:01PM

WTF --- Purpleguy

Try this on for size.
If the Podhoretz's theory is right, Secularized Judaism as Liberalism is sucking up to the Muslims hoping they will be shot last. The Jews and the Roman Catholics have made a common cause to drive the Protestants out of government for a generation. For a example the last protestant has left the Supreme Court. A Wiccan Warlock has a better chance at a Supreme Court seat than a Southern Baptist.

In short the Liberals are throwing the Protestants to the Muslims wolves so as to be massacred last.

Nick| 5.6.10 @ 4:23PM

Dixie Pixie,

Despite their claims to the contrary, San Fran Gran Nan, Kerry, O'Biden, and the Kennnedys are not Roman Catholic.

They are CINOs, Catholic In Name Only.

Dixie Pixie| 5.6.10 @ 4:49PM

Greetings Nick

CINO and Liberal to the bone.
Got it.

The above thought occurred to me years ago when McCain was considering Lieberman for the VP slot.
I then noticed there was not a single Southern Politician on the national ticket. It was a simple step to notice the Protestants were endangered species in federal government offices. A good question is why?

Nick| 5.7.10 @ 12:49AM

Salutations Dixie Pixie!

If I had to guess, I would say it is because the Country Club, Rockefeller Republicans were ashamed to be in the same party with great patriots like Senator Jesse Helms, Ralph Reed, Mike Huckabee, and Sarah Palin.

Ahh....If only we had 40 Jesse Helms' in the Senate today.
I can dream, can't I?

Alan Brooks| 5.6.10 @ 8:45PM

"The Jews and the Roman Catholics have made a common cause to drive the Protestants out of government for a generation."

That's right! Haha, DixieChick; you have discovered the Papist, Jesuit, illuminati, Judaic plot! Hoho.

Liberals are social misfits, but proud. They refuse to examine themselves and why they don't fit in, and in their pride seek to change the world to fit their own delusional thinking.

Eric Cartman| 5.6.10 @ 9:26AM

I used to care greatly about terror attacks on NYC. Now, not so much. When the country came together to help and defend against the 9/11 attacks and the 1993 attacks on the Twin Towers, what did Liberals do? They stomped their little feet and pointed fingers at their own country. They attacked their own president and used 9/11 for political purposes. So I really don't care anymore what happens to NYC. If a couple of hundred or thousand New Yorkers get gasses, bio-poisoned so their skin falls off or incinerated, I'll feel bad for a day or so, but I'm not going to lift a finger to help them . I certainly won't tell my son to join the military to help defend NYC. The same is true for D.C. San Francisco, L.A. or Detroit (the problem with Detroit being attacked is that no one will be able to tell the difference between before and after). I just don't care as much as I used to. Let the scummyLiberals defend themselves.

Oh I know, there are good people in those places, but they should really move out. Let these cities drown in their red ink or blow up due to their own selfish, smug, egocentric stupidity. Sorry, I just hate liberals too much to care what happens to them anymore. Let New York Liberals suffer the consequences of their smugness. Maybe Jon Stewart's family will be in Times Square when it happens and he can joke about it later that night. I mean, if joking about our involvement in Afghanistan and Iraq while our troops are dying is okay for Liberals, joking about them dying in some gruesome fashion in Times Square is okay, right? I mean, turn about is fair play, right?

Grant| 5.6.10 @ 1:48PM

Like Streisand, Bloombery has that New York state of mind, completely foreign to 99% of American citizens, whom the hardcore tribal leaders hold in contempt. It shows on their faces, take Lloyd Blankfein, Larry King and Hank Greenberg -- please. This unique insular demographic statistic always shows they feel separate and superior to the greater population of the unwashed.

Though they are not truly a religious people, despite waving their Zionist symbols and most like the ancient Pharisees, they are motivated by their upbringing that completely indoctrinates them with intense belief in superiority and, thus, a drive to succeed and do anything necessary to amass the trappings of success.

Not smart, not wise, only a programmed response to shortsighted indoctrination. That is why it always fails in the long run AND why they never get it. They never understand why the enraged, drooling larger populace turn on them ever so often and drive them away. Thus beginning the pitiful victim cycle. Since their strategy to control mass communications was so very successful, those like Disney, GE, Fox News, CNN, Viacom etc. is now the last bastion that keeps the great American crime family afloat.

Once the this fact sinks into the docile little minds of the millions of sheeple, the family is going to be in deep, deep sheep dip. The bleating and blinking has stopped and I am certain the sheep will be transformed into packs of savage wolves.

Then, those like Mike Bloomberg, Lloyd Blankfein, Hank Greenberg and Greenspan etc., are laughable characters from the minds of Arthur Kosestler and George Orwell.

Smart? Wise? Only long enough to build another spider web, ensnare more victims to feed on at their leisure. But, in cycles, greed and disdain for most outside the family always leads them to risk more and more until they go too far.

Smart? Wise? No, just greedy and a deep contempt for the outsiders, the cattle and working class. That is how they most like the Pharisees.

Mr. Tyrrell,
Eric,

I have one quibble with both of your posts. You guys keep using the term "Liberals".

Darn it! They are nothing more than an amalgam of "communists", (pardon the shorthand), "useful idiots", and "fellow travelers".

.....perhaps a dash of "Stockholm syndrome" sufferers thrown in.

Every day here on AmSpec, we see bleats from them. So what is the big surprise?

Mark my words, we are going to hear "Houston...we have a problem!"

Eric CArtman| 5.6.10 @ 10:19AM

Whoops! You're right - but really we should start using the term "Progressives" Sort of brings it all under on leaking, scummy umbrella, doesn't it?

Howard| 5.6.10 @ 10:43AM

I prefer "Leftists". "Progressive" implies progress. Most leftists want to install Karl Marx; circa 1845, as their vision of the future.

Margie| 5.6.10 @ 7:19PM

Me too. Progressive sounds too much like a spaghetti sauce, though it IS a correct word to use. Leftist is meaner. LOL.

Margie| 5.6.10 @ 7:21PM

..And Communist is even better. It's all-encompassing, and also true. It's all about the taking away of the individual's freedom.

Fred McCarthy| 5.6.10 @ 7:36PM

Ken. Not at all related to the article, but after reading your comment on another thread about Kyle-Anne Shiver's departure, I felt it was important. I see that today, she has an article on American Thinker. Lo & behold! Who knew? I'm just glad to see her back.

Ken. Yeah, she's awesome! Am Thinker has done pretty good w/Robin of Berkley in Kyle-Anne's absence, but its good to see her back.

If Purplepuke knew how to read, he might learn something from that site. As it stands, the pieces there aren't written on a 3rd grade level, so too bad for him.

Margie| 5.6.10 @ 7:17PM

I'm going to check her out. I hardly ever go there because I spend most of my time reading here. I even read here more than I do Drudge. What's the world coming to? I just registered to post there. Let's see how long I can last.

Pete| 5.6.10 @ 9:50AM

More on the media side of this topic, I clipped this gem from a mainstream media article about Greece yesterday. Can anyone tell me what is wrong with this? Sometimes I can't believe my own eyes.

"Hundreds of demonstrators -- including far right wing supporters -- broke away from the marches and tried to storm parliament, shouting "thieves, traitors." At the opposite end of the political spectrum, groups of anarchists hurled Molotov cocktails and ripped-up paving stones at buildings and police, who responded with barrages of tear gas."

Grant| 5.6.10 @ 2:14PM

For me, this newsclip suggests the the bombthrowers and villians largely come from the radical right. Yes, it is more an indictment than an impartial bit of news reporting. Like most modern reporting, every story is a feature, an opportunity to influence and persuade.

Louis Jenkins| 5.6.10 @ 10:01AM

Mr. Cartman:

I'd have to agree with you. If NYC is such a waste then just move out. Can't understand why people want to live there to begin with.

So what's the difference Pete? They're all marching about it, far right wing supporters, and the opposite end of the political spectrum, groups of anarchists... That's what I said a week or so ago. They're all marching. The whole country is marching and burning.

Eric Cartman| 5.6.10 @ 10:31AM

Well, I understand not wanting to move - its a hassle. But there comes a time where you have to pack up the salt shakers and leave. I know I would and I was born in New York. I just wasn't raised there.

But really, remember the Florida vote in 2000? Liberals were telling us that their side was too stupid to follow an arrow to a name on a page and then too weak to poke a hole in a piece of paper with a pointed metal stick. Then they blamed Republicans (who were too stupid to describe the situation as I just did).

So then they went about trying to ruin Bush any way they could, including using the 9/11 attacks. So let them die by the hand of Allah - I just don't care anymore. I used to be upset about the video of David Berg getting his head chopped off, but now I wouldn't be too upset to see, say, Joe Klein get the same treatment. I'm just not going to lose sleep over it.

Pete| 5.6.10 @ 11:03AM

As if living in one of those failed liberal tax and spend cities wasn't bad enough, I think the phrase "blast radius" would be enough for me to move away if I lived there. As the article mentions, we won't get lucky with inept terrorists forever, and the administration clearly isn't interested in any real preventative measures.

Eric Cartman| 5.6.10 @ 1:17PM

Well, I hated even traveling to NYC when I had to. I decided a while ago I wouldn't anymore. It's not if, but when they succeed in detonating something in Times Square. They will and I'll yawn and change the channel - go and enjoy the beach or local park.

BTW, blast radius means nothing in Detroit - AKA Liberal heaven. Substitute, "Urban Improvement" for blast radius when it comes to Detroit.

Grant| 5.6.10 @ 2:21PM

NYC is a wasteland in more ways than one. Not yet a complete geographical wasteland, but if someday some real terrorists actually do attack this big, fat target, well, it is a sort of a sitting duck. Oh, and Mike Bloomberg and gang are all arrogant, disdainful Pharisee aristocrats. They all attended brainwashing school and, of course, their mamas taught them well. Hell, these people cannot change; don't believe in change, just chump change for the drooling masses.

Pete| 5.6.10 @ 10:28AM

Well, LJ, what I noticed for starters is that the author has taken care to use the word "right" and to use it first. One might then expect to see the word left somewhere, but it is absent and replaced with a term I have never heard used to describe the left. The point being, that instead of pointing out that one group is pissed because their money was systematically stolen and wasted and the other because their free goodies are being cut back, the author lumps them together as a bunch of crazies marching and pillaging. Subtle to the untrained eye, perhaps, but this is how the media influences people.

The Left was especially wimpy during the 1990's. They (Clinton) had a chance to make a dent against Bin Laden. However, they reserved their firepower for Waco and the little Cuban boy Gonzalez.
I'm sure the liberal media was hoping the Times Square bomber was a Republican, even a moderate Ripon Society type. Anyone; Nelson Rockefeller, Charlie Crist, anyone. Why do they do now?

stephanie| 5.6.10 @ 11:18AM

Don't forget Randy Weaver and Ruby Ridge, Howard.

She was a "big sis" too.

Grant| 5.6.10 @ 2:35PM

HOWARD HAS IT RIGHT!

You said it right. How well I remember that horrible period of tracking the sorrowful days of Waco. Another outright slaughter, something Joe Stalin would have ordered, and we docile sheeple just stared at it play out on the damn tube.

When will people stop being tricked by omissions, diversion and false flags? Never? Will it always work to play the BLAME GAME and continue to re-elect the other party? Why does anybody expect different results by shifting from Dem to Rep, then Rep to Dem? Hell, that

Yosemeti Sam| 5.6.10 @ 11:12AM

" ... Liberals such as Mayor Bloomberg are not very comfortable with their fellow Americans...."

Why then spend 100 million to sanctimoniously rule over some of them.

Appleby| 5.6.10 @ 11:36AM

Wanting to rule the proles does not presuppose that one likes the proles.

Grant| 5.6.10 @ 2:45PM

Of course not Pingback! Did the Pharisees feel comfortable with the other demoninations, such as the Early Christians or the Seduccees, Simeons or Levis?

These secular, self-annointed demi-gods simply dismissed all notions of spirituality and mythology (except where politically expedient) and worshipped the notion of "success." .

Their poster boy is Bernie Madoff, Lloyd Blankfein and the Lords of Hollywood and left-wing university professors. At its core is a simple creed to accept that "God is dead," and you are nobody til you have a sailboat in South Florida and other such trappings of "success."

stephanie| 5.6.10 @ 11:16AM

I love living in a rural county. And I hate to say it, but I sometimes feel like Eric. Let the leftists die by the hand of one of those they feel so sorry for.
I heard somebody last night on some lefty channel saying this pakistani terrorist did this because his mortgage was forclosed on?????WTF?

Eric Cartman| 5.6.10 @ 1:26PM

That's why it's really not going to make any difference to me when a bunch of Liberals in NYC die some gruesome death. I mean, what did they think would happen? Are they that stupid? I guess so. Can't they even defend themselves? I guess not. We don't need more stupid people, people so inept they don't know when they are in danger, so let them die. Acknowledge the tragedy and get on with your life.

Grant| 5.6.10 @ 2:51PM

What did they think would happen, indeed!

You ask whether they can be that stupid? It goes back to their childhood indoctrination from cradle on. You are smart, you must work hard and make a success of your great gift. You can have it all and be a big success like your uncle Bernie. He has big houses in Florida, Paris and a huge Manhatten apartment. What a mench!

Nobody gets over that programming, my friend. Nobody!

Eric Cartman| 5.6.10 @ 3:00PM

They think that if they are nice (meaning taking from the unwashed and giving to the really filthy) the people trying to kill them will be nice back. The Islamists hate GW, so they will, too. Oh! You want to come here and get on the dole and crowd the schools of the middle class, smuggle drugs and people, bankrupt the hospitals, fine, here ya go!

They (Liberal Aholes) love being generous with other peoples money and lives.

Margie| 5.6.10 @ 11:47AM

When the first bombing of the WTC happened in the early 90's common sense told me they would be back to finish the job. I had recently moved back to NJ and would never go back. I have a close friend who worked on one of the higher floors in one of the towers that went down on 9/11. She phoned in sick that day, otherwise she'd be dead. Obviously NYC is a forever target of the terrorists. The people who live and work there are much braver than me.

Now, do we really want to vote for people who blame America for the terrorists being terrorists? Make sure you don't cast your vote for a Non-Interventionist, anti-Israel, anti-war Paul-bot candidate. Nip it in the bud. If you say "Oh, it doesn't really matter~they'll be kept in line by the congress critters." If you say that then you are closing your eyes to the reality that these types of characters could one day become President!

If you are angry with the attitude of terrorist sympathizers, then don't allow them to slip through the cracks as Libertarian Non-Interventionists in Republican clothing.

Wake up Conservatives!

Tim*| 5.6.10 @ 1:37PM

We will have to bail you cowards out yet again, just like Reagan and us did with the Soviets.

Hi Everyone...Mayor Bloomberg is just one voice. He does not speak for every liberal in the US. I'm one of those awful liberals and I disagree with Bloomberg. I bet lots of liberals have other ideas about the person who tried to bomb Times Square. Why not take a survey of a large number of liberals before jumping to conclusions about the group as a whole? I think you will find that they agree with conservatives on many issues. Surprise! Surprise! Have fun. Allan

Eric CArtman| 5.6.10 @ 1:36PM

Well, Allan, you are the exception that proves the rule. Liberals used to believe in freedom - the more the better. Now they are the Scolds of Statism. Looking down their nose at my salt shaker and tsk tsking my distrust of central government.

Stephen Zierak| 5.6.10 @ 1:07PM

I was between my junior and senior year in college when Robert Kennedy was assassinated. I happened to be awake and listening on radio to the coverage right after the incident. There was much speculation that it must have been a right wing extremist who did the deed, and how terrible those right wingers were. Then the name was released, Sirhan Sirhan, a Palestinian. Of course, there are very few Palestinian "right-wingers" (at least in the American context). Suddenly, the conversation changed. We shouldn't jump to conclusions....We had to respect the legal processes....etc., etc. There was obvious profound disappointment, just as with President Kennedy being murdered by an active Communist. How could this be, it didn't follow the script?! Things haven't changed for "progressives" since the summer of '68. Different enemy, same liberal stupidity.

Grant| 5.6.10 @ 3:05PM

MOST AMERICANS BELIEVED THE GOVERNMENT (DEM AND REP) HAVE LIED, COVERED UP AND DECEIVED US MANY TIMES.

So why do you choose to believe anyhthing they say? How do you pick and choose what to believe and which one to trust?

After the last Great Crash and subsequent depression, most of the old timers used to say, "I believe nothing I hear and only half of what I see."

Only the titans of wall street and the mogols of Hollywood cannot understand. The robbers are riding in their Gulfstream jets and celebrating on their yachts and flying free above the smelly, belly aching turmoil on the ground.

I see a new crowd of doctors, lawyers and mba's lining up to run for congress. I would prefer somebody a little different than that.

Grant| 5.6.10 @ 3:12PM

Like the "Lenin's useful idiots" line. Know so many like that, going way back. Communes, tie-dye shirts, free sex and mind expanding chemicals everywhere way back then. Anything goes and if it feels good, do it!

At first, it seemed pretty good. Now, sadly enough, it was an insane notion that has come home to roost. Damn their eyes.

We? Them? Guess we brought it on ourselves and it would appear the old people were right with their slow and cautious ways. Now, if only I could escape from NYC and live on grandpa's farm. Better days, likely never to return. What we seem to be creating with this "Change" is more like a "Brave New World" we will soon designate the USSA! Back to the future with Chairman Mao and Uncle Joe!

MattZ| 5.6.10 @ 1:55PM

Standard anti-liberal claptrap from a substandard writer, and I suppose the gross overgeneralizations are thrown in for free.

Just as it it is wrong to paint the entire tea party as racist or xenophobic, it doesn't make any sense to claim that all liberals love Islam, since that claim or anything similar ("The mosque is about the only house of prayer that they have any sympathy for") is wrong on its face.

I'm liberal, and it's obvious that Islam is both pernicious and wrong. Of course, Christianity's got a pretty bad track record, too.
MZ

Eric Cartman| 5.6.10 @ 2:09PM

Really? Christ said to kill non-believers? Or wrote instructions on how its permissible to have sex with your camel?

Ayatollah Khomeini: "A man can have sex with sheep, cows and camels and so on. However, he should kill the animal after he has his orgasm. He should not sell the meat to the people in his own village; however, selling the meat to the next door village should be fine."

I hope there's a discount?

Homer Simpson| 5.6.10 @ 2:15PM

Mmmmmmm, discount sex meat! Ahhhhhhhhhhh!

MattZ| 5.6.10 @ 5:15PM

NICE!
I guess The Simpsons is funnier than South Park after all.

Listen, fat ass (Cartman, obviously), I wasn't comparing Muhammad to Jesus; I didn't mention either. I said that both Christianity and the Islamic faith have a pretty spotty record and this is pretty obvious if you're willing to be discuss the topic honestly. That's a big if, though, isn't it?
MZ

Eric Cartman| 5.6.10 @ 5:44PM

You do realize that I'm using a nom de plume, right? So I could be Eric Cartman one minute and Homer Simpson the next! Hmmmmm, could be Homer . . . . So your dispersions of my girth is confusing.

I would be willing to bet that Christianity (with all its man centered faults) has a better record than Islam when it comes to humanity. Or do you believe you can separate the message from the messenger in this case?

canuckistani| 5.6.10 @ 2:46PM

There are defects in all organized religions. Period.
My concern is wondering how a young man, educated and moving along in life can be "turned" over a few months in Pakistan? What the heck are they telling these guys to rationalize a unfocused attack like this?
I get the war rationalization, but targeting Times Sq just makes the US get more heavy-handed and provides additional justification for continued occupation in the middle-east. (I know they're not geniuses, but why can't they see that?)
The only peculiarity is that this attack was very similar to Oklahoma City in that the perp did not commit suicide.
There may be another defect in the "training" that the last few perps have spilled the beans under normal interrogation.
I'm no expert, but the changing dynamic is curious.
Thoughts?

GW| 5.6.10 @ 5:43PM

So you prefer UNorganized religions, then?

Grant| 5.6.10 @ 3:17PM

MattZa Ball nutjob is fair, he hates himself and everybody. First name has gotta be "Mikey," Mikey don't like nothing.

You are so far out there and so oblivious to the significance of religions that shaped civilization and the universe of interconnected culture nodes of power and intelligence, you understanding i damn near zero.

MattZ| 5.6.10 @ 5:08PM

I'd say that Judiasm, Christianity and Islam had a pretty large impact on civilization so far, and I can't say that the majority of that impact has been positive - not by a longshot.

Christianity has been involved in far too much bloodshed over the centuries, and it seems like Islam has taken the crusader mantle as of late. Either way, religion is hijacked to justify atrocities and even believers would be well served to be half as suspicious of the church as they are of the US Government for some reason.

Anyway, be careful when you question the understanding of an athiest; chance are, they've thought the matter over far more often than you .
MZ

Eric Cartman| 5.6.10 @ 5:23PM

And Atheists have been bloodshed-free, I guess. Oh, wait a minute. Wasn't there some kind of Atheist that killed something like 20 million people? Starved them to death I think it was. Had fat hair and a big mustache. Oh, and there was another guy who gassed a bunch of folk sand was responsible for over 50 million deaths in WWII- what was his name? Had a funny little mustache (what's up with Atheist Dictators and mustaches?)

Oh! Then there is that little Chinese guy and the pot-bellied Korean, what's his futz. And lets not forget the guy in Cambodia. He was more fun than a barrel on monkeys! There's few million. You guys ever think that stuff over? Yeah, Atheism has been great! Can't wait for your next trick.

MattZ| 5.6.10 @ 5:35PM

You proably think anyone who disagrees with you is Anti-American and non-Christian. That's the only way you could possibly believe that all of the dictators you alluded to are non-religious. Just admit it.

I'm starting to change my mind about all of this!
Maybe the US *would* be better off with Palin in charge!
MZ

Eric C artman| 5.6.10 @ 5:50PM

I don't have to admit it - they pretty much said they were Atheists themselves. Read their writings. Is that too difficult for you?

And Liberals prove time and again they are un-American. I don't have to prove that, either. From Bill Ayers to Jane Fonda. They say it all the time. Is that too difficult for you, too? Jeez! Give me a hard one.

Then you admit you don't know the difference between right and wrong.

MattZ| 5.6.10 @ 5:17PM

I usually just listen to what someone like you has to say and assume that the opposite is true.

I have a challenge for you, Nick. Describe the tenets of the modern liberal movement for me. Write out why you think I don't know the difference between right and wrong.

MZ

Eric Cartman| 5.6.10 @ 5:26PM

Um, read the above Bob Tyrrell article. What a dumbass.

Nick| 5.7.10 @ 2:41AM

MikeyZ,

I shouldn't indulge you, as Mr. Cartman gave a great response, but what the heck.

***THE TENETS OF THE MODERN LIBERAL MOVEMENT***

Pro-abortion/Anti-family
Pro-euthanasia/Anti-living
Pro-death/Anti-life
Pro-homosexuality/Anti-marriage
Pro-sodomy/Anti-chastity
Pro-pornography/Anti-modesty
Pro-perversion/Anti-virtue
Pro-criminal/Anti-gun
Pro-crime/Anti-law enforcement
Pro-perjury/Anti-truth
Pro-socialism/Anti-commerce
Pro-despotism/Anti-freedom
Pro-Arab/Anti-Israel
Pro-Islam/Anti-Christian
Pro-pagan/Anti-God
Pro-Satan/Anti-Christ

The main reason people are "liberal", is because of licentiousness. Most of these sexual libertines just want to cheat on their spouse or engage in extra-marital relations.

But, a significant number are practitioners of a multitude of vile and disgusting sexual perversions. To justify their own immorality, they embrace others. This way, they can escape the charge of "hypocrite."

This is why the democrat party is a coalition.
Race-baiters ally themselves with homos, who ally themselves with tree-huggers, who ally themselves with atheists, etcetera, etcetera.

Hope this clears things up for you, MikeyZ.

Would he have apologized for having those two carbon filled buildings in the way of those planes?

From Washington's evacuation, and other strange coincidences, such as the violent thunderstorm that devestated British troops during the war of 1812, it seems our country has been a recipient of divine intervention when needed the most.

Say what you will of our commpassionate conservative friend from Texas, I'm sure glad he was in charge when it became apparent we had to take the fight to America's enemies.

I miss having a grown man in the White House.

canuckistani| 5.6.10 @ 3:23PM

How do you know Gore would not have prevented it?
You don't.
The last grown man in the WH was his dad, and he knew enough to not get in the middle of muslim blood feuds as we find ourselves fully engaged in today.
The Taliban were ready to deal, we reneged on the gas deal, remember?
Bin Laden got most of his cash from his family's contruction fortune - underwritten by US oil interests since the 30's, and then we reneged on the Afghan rebuilding effort a la Charlie Wilson.
When will we learn that double-dealing leads to sinister outcomes? These people are not stupid, they're young, educated, well funded and have time on their side. What do we have other than a holy handgrenade of antioch?

Then he talks about the Right as behind the Times Sq attempted bombing. He is now totally useless and I would reccomend that any New Yorker that remebers 9/11 just say: Bring back Giuliani!!!

Jon B| 5.6.10 @ 6:15PM

Interesting article. Russian legislators have stated that they were going to start Perestroika anyway, but when Reagan GAVE them $425 MILLION, they sped it up by a year or two. Gorbachev recently wrote an article detailing how Glasnost and Perestroika came about crediting progressive legislators for the changes, and doesn't mention Reagan at all even though they were close to each other. The myth that Reagan "caused Glasnost" has been exposed repeatedly and credibly numerous times for over 20 years now, but it continues in neocon in moments of trying to grasping for something that never existed in the first place...

Jon B| 5.6.10 @ 6:32PM

Ironically, Mr Tyrrel throws around the word "liberals" in the exact same way Hitler threw around "Jews." Without any clear definitions, but rather as symbols of something to hate, however inadequately defined. It's this kind of thinking on either side that is the most destructive force of the social fabric in America than anything else could ever be.

Eric Cartman| 5.6.10 @ 6:44PM

"Without any clear definitions, but rather as symbols of something to hate, however inadequately defined."

We know exactly who and what you are. He described some of your actions and beliefs over the past 50 years. You really need more definition? What a lying piece of shit! WOW! More that one would expect.

Nick| 5.7.10 @ 12:21AM

Ah......if only Hitler had just put liberals into the concentration camps.

But, then he would've had to put himself into a camp.

Jon B| 5.6.10 @ 6:53PM

I'm a realist who believes in the the truth. You, Sir Cartman, are someone who prefers to attack the messenger rather than confront the message. I fit none of Tyrrel's criteria, which makes you a disingenuous liar as well as he is.

Eric Cartman| 5.6.10 @ 7:04PM

Seem like a lot of you Liberals are saying that we should ignore the history of Liberals and just go with your word that you don't fit Liberal actions over the past 50 -60 years.

I think I'll go with Liberal actions over the past 50 - 60 years.

Jon B| 5.6.10 @ 7:56PM

Do you mean when liberals reduced abortions by 10's of millions under Clinton and now under Obama? Or are you talking about the last fiscal conservative President, Bill Clinton? Perhaps you mean when Reagan liberally gave amnesty to hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants? Or maybe you were thinking of how "W" liberally lifted restrictions of Muslim immigrants quadrupling their entry into America? Perhaps you meant that Reagan and "W's" budgets created 5 times more of the National debt than everyone else combined, and is still contributing to 45% of this years deficits?

Or more accurately, you will stick with the brainwashing you're now comfortable with because it makes you "feel good." You're easy to see through, Sir Cartman.

Eric Cartman| 5.7.10 @ 9:09AM

Reduced abortions by 10s of millions! OMG STOP! YOU'RE CRACKING ME UP! I'M GUNNA PEE MY PANTS I'M LAUGHING SO HARD! It's liberals who are causing abortions, ya putz! They love abortions - the more blood the merrier! First trimester, second, 2 minutes before birth. It doesn't matter to liberals: A dog is a boy is a rat.

And not for just serious problems for mother and/or child. ANY reason is a good reason for an abortion: I have a headache, my friend has a headache, I want to go to the movies, there's a really good show on PBS.

The rest of your post is so delusional you really need to lay down with a cold compress and get back on your Lithium.

Republican Baby killing makes you laugh?

Obama's restoring of funds for pregnancy prevention measures in the world's poorest countries will reduce abortions by 10's of millions in the next 8 years. Republicans have used this as a wedge issue, lying about the Mexico City Policy by falsely claiming it funds abortions, etc. It's been illegal for US $'s to fund abortions overseas since 1973, but we DO fund pregnancy prevention measures, emergency field birth kits, etc.

http://www.religioustolerance.org/abo_wrld.htm

1993: Repeal of the funding ban: President Clinton felt that private, foreign organizations should be able to receive USAID funding for that part of their programs that involved pregnancy prevention, even though they used their funds raised elsewhere to finance abortions or to appeal for abortion reform. On 1993-JAN-22, his second day in office, he rescinded the executive order.

2001: Reinstatement of the funding ban: On 2001-JAN-22, during his first day in office, President George W. Bush reinstated the funding ban for family planning programs run by agencies that also provide abortion services out of their own funds. His rationale was somewhat confusing. He wrote to the U.S. Agency for International Development: "It is my conviction that taxpayer funds should not be used to pay for abortions or advocate or actively promote abortion, either here or abroad." But no such funds have ever been granted. Existing legislation prevents foreign grants from being used to fund abortions or provide abortion counseling.

http://www.commondreams.org/views01/0126-05.htm

January 26, 2001: Family planning research groups, such as the Alan Guttmacher Institute, last year said that if US funding levels were restored to the $540 million (from $425 million), the following would happen: Nearly 12 million more couples in developing countries would gain access to modern methods of contraception.

There would be 4.3 million fewer unintended pregnancies, 1.5 million fewer unintended births, 500,000 fewer miscarriages; 2.2 million fewer abortions each year; 8,000 fewer deaths from unsafe abortions, 7,000 fewer deaths from other causes related to pregnancy and 92,000 fewer deaths of infants.

Bush cut funding on 1-22-2001, then cut it some more in 2002, so it was roughly 1/2 or just over $200 million. However, some of it was restored because of his 2003 Africa/Aids program, which he didn't fully fund either. Bush cut aids funding completely in early 2001, and dropped another program in Congress (around $800K more) too. I found this was typical for Bush: to cut a program & let it slide for a couple years, then start it up again acting as if it was his idea, then not fully fund it as promised, or not at all re: Hydrogen car research & No Child Left Behind. It was also typical of BU$H to make a PR speech supporting a program the same day he was actually ending funding for it.

Yeah, for you the truth is a joke, just like you...

Nick| 5.7.10 @ 2:00PM

Jon B| 5.7.10 @ 2:32PM

I did make one mistake, but you haven't proven me wrong about anything else, and you likely never will. So apparently all you have to fall back on are emotional pleas for help.

Nick| 5.7.10 @ 2:35PM

Where's that source, Jon Boy?

Margie| 5.6.10 @ 7:08PM

Jon B. & ilk are like the proverbial communist thorn in the proverbial conservative's side. It's the gift that keeps on giving, unfortunately.

Jon B| 5.6.10 @ 7:57PM

I make ilk shirts for a living. If you'd like one, please ask, but be forewarned: You might actually like my ilk shirts and want more.

Jon B| 5.6.10 @ 10:26PM

I didn't want BU$H, and neither did the majority of Americans, nor the majority in Florida in 2000. But a corrupt court and neocons media rammed him down America's throat. And here we are, mired down in 2 wars, an economy hopefully recovering from the worst recession we've ever had, 8 million jobs lost, doubled National debt, unregulated banks and polluters, Federal agencies trashed/declawed from top to bottom, and you want to blame the next guy...why?

Margie| 5.6.10 @ 11:05PM

You make absolutely no sense. Except to those at the Huffington Post.
Or The View.

Eric Cartman| 5.7.10 @ 9:23AM

See, everyone! It's the Florida thing LOL. They are STILL pissed they lost. (And you did lose, loser). So JonB, Why are you Democrats so stupid and weak? Are you telling me that the Florida Democrats are so stupid they can't follow an arrow to a name, read the name, take a pointy metal stick in their trembling hands and poke a hole in a piece of paper by the name! LOL That's FUNNY AS HELL! You guys a re a living, breathing JOKE ! LOL Are you guys available for parties and bar mitzvahs!

I believe the two attack Christmas and times square were intentionally meant to fail. Reason success would have likely brought some retaliation from the US. They win because they look good among potential Muslim recruits, they create fear in America and they cost us money as we scramble to sure up our security.

C.K. Amos| 5.6.10 @ 10:31PM

It's not original, but needs repeating often and everywhere: Liberalism is a mental, spiritual, intellectual and political disease. And it appears it's metastasized far too rapidly in our country.

Jon B| 5.6.10 @ 10:55PM

The funny thing about you saying that is someone else told you to think that way. You didn't even become this delusional on your own. :)

Gotta love that!

Nick| 5.7.10 @ 12:14AM

Jon B,

Where's the source for your lie that President Reagan gave the Soviets $45o million? Still waiting, moron.

This was after you spent days claiming it was $45o BILLION and that you remembered it clearly. As you wrote, "It was on all the networks."

Eric Cartman| 5.7.10 @ 9:15AM

Nick, JonB admitted he was wrong. Reagan gave the Soviets a $ZILLION dollars - with a Z! Don't you remember? It was right after Reagan was staring out an Oval Office window into the sky and the Circus shot that pig wearing a cape out of a cannon and it flew by! It was in all the papers!

Jon B| 5.7.10 @ 2:34PM

Yes, Reagan gave Russia $425 Million, not billion as I first said. Like a good neocon, you focus on one mistake, and miss the content entirely.

Nick| 5.7.10 @ 2:36PM

Where's that source, Jon Boy?

You promised it months ago.
Oh...that's right....you're a liar. I forgot.
