Guess whose religious beliefs trouble the politically correct?
The Obama administration recently issued a report from the
Defense Department on the Fort Hood shootings of last November.
The report has sparked controversy in Washington. On Capitol
Hill, Sens. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) and Sue Collins (R-Maine) are
demanding more documents from the Pentagon.
Lieberman chairs the Senate's Homeland Security Committee where
Collins is the ranking member. Both senators sharply criticized
the administration for its failure to turn over documents on the
handling of Major Nidal Hasan. Lieberman and Collins are now
issuing subpoenas to enforce their call for the documents.
The Pentagon report on the Fort Hood shootings was a whitewash.
It never mentioned radical Islam or noted the religious
motivation of the Army psychiatrist who killed fourteen people at
Fort Hood in Texas in a shooting rampage last November.
We now know that Major Hasan had a history of radical
jihadist statements and that he was allowed to get away
with marginal or even unsatisfactory performance for years.
Political correctness, in this case, allowed a Muslim zealot to
preach jihad and to threaten "infidels" with retribution.
Sen. Lieberman has called for an "independent, bi-partisan
congressional investigation" of the shootings. We need one, since
it's obvious that the Pentagon is not going to investigate itself
over this appalling terrorist attack on the homeland.
Gen. William G. "Jerry" Boykin knows something about political
correctness in the military. Gen. Boykin, a highly-decorated
combat veteran was dragged through the mill by the liberal media
back in 2003 for expressing his Christian beliefs in Christian
churches. They charged the general was calling for a Christian
crusade against the Muslims.
"I hope he's not long for this world," said NPR's Nina Totenberg
on WUSA's Inside Washington TV talk show. When fellow
panelists, mostly liberals, protested, asking whether Totenberg
rally wanted to issue a fatwa on the offending general,
she quickly backtracked. She said: "in his job, in his job,
please, please, in his job." Well, that's reassuring.
Totenberg only wanted the heroic general fired. She wanted him
removed from any role in directing the war on terror. She didn't
want him beheaded.
Major TV networks denounced Gen. Boykin as a "Holy Warrior." They
ridiculed his Evangelical Christian faith on prime-time
television.
Compare that treatment with what we see in the treatment of Nidal
Hasan. This man yelled "Allahu Akbar" (Arabic for "God is
great!") even as he squeezed the trigger in the worst case of
terrorism here since September 11th. Yet, the media is very
hesitant to demand accountability of the military brass. Army
Chief of Staff General Casey made the rounds of TV talk shows the
first Sunday after Hasan's shootings. He said it would be "a
tragedy" if the Army's diversity was a casualty of the Fort Hood
murders.
How could Hasan be allowed to spew anti-American and
anti-Christian comments for years? Where was the enforcement of
the oath -- taken by all members of our all-volunteer military --
to defend the Constitution against "all enemies, foreign
and domestic."
We now know that Hasan's emails to radical American-born Muslim
cleric Anwar al Awlaki were intercepted by U.S. intelligence. But
for some as yet unexplained reason, Hasan's contacts with this
known terrorist leader did not result in Hasan's arrest, or at
the very least, a serious investigation into his activities.
Fourteen dead Americans are victims of this failure to take
timely, effective action.
Awlaki has taken to taunting President Obama: "His administration
tried to portray the operation of brother Nidal Hasan as an
individual act of violence by an individual. The administration
practiced the control on the leak of information concerning the
operation in order to cushion the reaction of the American
public."
We cannot wait for the media to probe this case. We need a full
congressional investigation to get to the bottom of this story --
before some jihadist in a "sleeper cell" is activated
and we see a repeat of this horror on our own shores. It is
literally a matter of life and death.
It appears in this instance that Major Hasan was allowed to get
away with disloyal statements and treasonous conduct for years
because he fit into someone's erroneous idea of diversity. All
Americans, and especially all members of our all-volunteer
military, have a right to expect that treason and terror will be
dealt with quickly and strictly. Political correctness in this
case, was fatal.

no way reflect Christian principle.
Alex deToqueville, forgive my spelling, in this magnum opus
Democracy in America, tells of the Puritans who came to America
not only to practice their religions, but create a government of
freedom as their intention is particularly set forth in the Bill
of Rights.
Purpleguy| 4.23.10 @ 9:51PM
It's Alexis de Tocqueville... and the Puritans came here to
escape religious persecution and the freedom to practice their
religion. They were happily British citizens for well over a 100
years. The American Revolution was in large part to throw off the
yoke of the British Monarchy that treated Americans as second
class citizens. The Bill of Rights was even further down the road
in history in order to protect the minority from the abuses of
majority rule - since they majority would always have their way.

The United States enjoys freedom of religion and therfore,
despite a strongly christian tradition, is not a christian
nation. It is a secular nation. Your reading of the constitution
appears to be selective...perfectly aligned....as long as you
only read the parts you want to see....
David T.| 4.23.10 @ 3:52PM
Dear jake1492
The U.S. may not be a Christian nation, but it certainly wasn't
founded as a "secular nation," either The Constitution was the
product of Christian men and others who were steeped in Christian
ethics and traditions. It could not have been written by
secularists or men of any other religious persuasion.

You are so wrong. Apparently, you don't know the Founders as well
as you think or you have been brainwashed by the Right Wing Spin
Machine.
"The Government of the United States is not in any sense founded
on the Christian Religion" - John Adams, from the Treaty of
Tripoli, Article 11. OR - how do you reconcile this:
" One day the dawn of reason and freedom of thought in the United
States will tear down the artificial scaffolding of Christianity.
And the day will come when the mystical generation of Jesus, by
the Supreme Being as His Father, in the womb of a virgin will be
classed with the fable of the generation of Minerva in the brain
of Jupiter." Thomas Jefferson, from a letter to John Adams, April
11, 1823. OR -
"Some books against Deism fell into my hands .. It happened that
they wrought an effect on me quite contrary to what was intended
by them; for the arguments of the Deists, which were quoted to be
refuted, appeared to me much stronger than the refutations, in
short, I soon became a thorough Deist." Benjamin Franklin, The
Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin. OR -
My own mind is my own Church. All national institutions of
churches, whether Jewish, Christian, or Turkish, appear to me no
other than human interventions, set up to terrify and enslave
mankind, and monopolize power and profit. " - Thomas Paine, The
Age of Reason.
Go look it up if you don't believe me, but the Founders DID NOT
found this country with anything but keeping religion as far from
the Government as possible. They feared, nay, even hated
religion's power should it get entangled with the Government.
These are the FACTS!

are you always this disingenuous in your thinking? truly
astounding. religion, of course, serves more than one purpose -
not just spiritual, not just one among many competing interest
groups (the part that scares you and purple-prevaricator)
influencing government, not just one agency working to improve
its communities......but also as an institution that works to
inculcate and sanction a particular moral structure. the founding
fathers knew this full well...and supported this role. it it this
aspect that truly frightens the modern day purveyors of
government moderated and enforced righteousness. their sangfroid
perishes at the slightest pretense of a competing set of ends
girded by a different, more Universal morality.

Vice a versa? That can't be right. Don't you mean "verse a vice"?
Or how about "Visa Carda"? Or perhaps "Nice-a Verse-a," as in the
Italian expression "Mama mia, that's-a nice-a verse-a in the
great-a poet Dante!"
Anyhow, leaving aside your illiteracy, Purp, I have come to
assure you that I can quote many, many others of the Founders
insisting that the virtues inculcated by religion are absolutely
necessary to the health of a representative democracy. Even the
minority of Deists and atheists, by and large, were not hostile
to religion per se. But they were nearly all adamantly against
the establishment of any particular religion along the lines of
the Anglican Church of England or the Roman Catholic Church of
Spain or Italy. Only a few were motivated by latter-day Purp-like
hostility against religion in general.
I'm-a thinking you're-a projecting, Purp, and that's-a no vice

Benjamin Franklin: | Portrait of Ben Franklin
“ God governs in the affairs of man. And if a sparrow cannot fall
to the ground without his notice, is it probable that an empire
can rise without His aid? We have been assured in the Sacred
Writings that except the Lord build the house, they labor in vain
that build it. I firmly believe this. I also believe that,
without His concurring aid, we shall succeed in this political
building no better than the builders of Babel” –Constitutional
Convention of 1787 | original manuscript of this speech
“In the beginning of the contest with Britain, when we were
sensible of danger, we had daily prayers in this room for Divine
protection. Our prayers, Sir, were heard, and they were
graciously answered… do we imagine we no longer need His
assistance?” [Constitutional Convention, Thursday June 28, 1787]
In Benjamin Franklin's 1749 plan of education for public schools
in Pennsylvania, he insisted that schools teach "the excellency
of the Christian religion above all others, ancient or modern."
In 1787 when Franklin helped found Benjamin Franklin University,
it was dedicated as "a nursery of religion and learning, built on
Christ, the Cornerstone."
Alexander Hamilton:
• Hamilton began work with the Rev. James Bayard to form the
Christian Constitutional Society to help spread over the world
the two things which Hamilton said made America great:
(1) Christianity
(2) a Constitution formed under Christianity.
“The Christian Constitutional Society, its object is first: The
support of the Christian religion. Second: The support of the
United States.”
On July 12, 1804 at his death, Hamilton said, “I have a tender
reliance on the mercy of the Almighty, through the merits of the
Lord Jesus Christ. I am a sinner. I look to Him for mercy; pray
for me.”
"For my own part, I sincerely esteem it [the Constitution] a
system which without the finger of God, never could have been
suggested and agreed upon by such a diversity of interests."
[1787 after the Constitutional Convention]
"I have carefully examined the evidences of the Christian
religion, and if I was sitting as a juror upon its authenticity I
would unhesitatingly give my verdict in its favor. I can prove
its truth as clearly as any proposition ever submitted to the
mind of man."
John Hancock:
• “In circumstances as dark as these, it becomes us, as Men and
Christians, to reflect that whilst every prudent measure should
be taken to ward off the impending judgments, …at the same time
all confidence must be withheld from the means we use; and
reposed only on that God rules in the armies of Heaven, and
without His whole blessing, the best human counsels are but
foolishness… Resolved; …Thursday the 11th of May…to humble
themselves before God under the heavy judgments felt and feared,
to confess the sins that have deserved them, to implore the
Forgiveness of all our transgressions, and a spirit of repentance
and reformation …and a Blessing on the … Union of the American
Colonies in Defense of their Rights [for which hitherto we desire
to thank Almighty God]…That the people of Great Britain and their
rulers may have their eyes opened to discern the things that
shall make for the peace of the nation…for the redress of
America’s many grievances, the restoration of all her invaded
liberties, and their security to the latest generations.

religion of Christ can give them one which will make them rich
indeed.”
—The Last Will and Testament of Patrick Henry
“It cannot be emphasized too clearly and too often that this
nation was founded, not by religionists, but by Christians; not
on religion, but on the gospel of Jesus Christ. For this very
reason, peoples of other faiths have been afforded asylum,
prosperity, and freedom of worship here.” [May 1765 Speech to the

“Whether our religion permits Christians to vote for infidel
rulers is a question which merits more consideration than it
seems yet to have generally received either from the clergy or
the laity. It appears to me that what the prophet said to
Jehoshaphat about his attachment to Ahab ["Shouldest thou help
the ungodly and love them that hate the Lord?" 2 Chronicles 19:2]
affords a salutary lesson.” [The Correspondence and Public Papers

happiness of man.”
“Of all the systems of morality, ancient or modern which have

Jesus.”
"I am a real Christian, that is to say, a disciple of the
doctrines of Jesus."
“God who gave us life gave us liberty. And can the liberties of a
nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm
basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these
liberties are a gift from God? That they are not to be violated
but with His wrath? Indeed I tremble for my country when I
reflect that God is just, and that His justice cannot sleep

There is considerable evidence that supports the idea that this
country was founded on a judeo-Christian basis. However, the most
important fact about American is that it is a pluralistic nation,
full of many cultures and religions. What I don't like is
Christians whining about how they're being mistreated and
disrespected, then go around writing and supporting articles that
slander and misrepresent Islam. That's exactly what this article
does.
And I have a HUGE problem with equating anti-Christian to
anti-American. You can be a true American and still dislike
Christians and their faith.
John II| 4.26.10 @ 7:02PM

blithering remarks always put me in mind of Gibbon and the
question, "Why do western folks who 'dislike Christians and their

attribute to Christianity?"
Why?
(Notice how there is no way on earth that anybody is ever going
to read this buried posting. We Christians are so committed to
the Truth that we announce it to the winds, including windy
secularists. I plumb reckon.)
Must agree with you, Brian Mc. I took the same oath to protect
and defend, and have never found a conflict with my Christian
beliefs.
Also, since Islam is a political religion, meaning it calls for a
theocratic state under sharia, I don't see how a practicing
Muslim can take our oath and not be lying. That is, there is an
inherent conflict between Islam and freedom of conscience. There
is no such conflict for this Baptist.

I live on a large rural property. I spend a lot of time outdoors
and appreciate the beauty and, well, diversity of nature. That
diversity includes lots of wildlife, including snakes. Most of
those are completely harmless--garter snakes, blacksnakes and the
eastern milk snakes and, in their own way, beautiful and
fascinating. However, there are some varities which are not
harmless--copperheads and timber rattlers. Accordingly, when I'm
in the woods, I keep a sharp eye out, and carefully observe any
snake I encounter. Is that profiling? Of course. I do it because
it would be stupid not to. Why in the world should one not apply
the same standards in "polite society" where some groups of
people have a long history of intolerant, violent , aggressive
and dangerous behavior? I have no problem profiling those people
either. Nor should the U.S. Army.

R Martin| 4.25.10 @ 7:28PM
It doesn't surprise me that you base your grand theory on a
simple comparison to snakes in your rural haven. Humans are not
snakes!
You cannot determine whether a human being is dangerous based on
their color or ethnicity. When you say some groups have a
history, you mean that they have a history in your mind of
committing terrorist acts. In some ways, that's understandable.
The media floods us with unfavorable images of Islam and Arabs in
general, never bothering to do stories on the vibrant Arab
American communities or Islam as it truly is and not how a few
sickos have distorted it.
Do not let yourself fall pray to the sensationalist media. They
will tell you what sells and if that isn't the truth, then so be
it, they say. You as a conservative should know that the media
generally has a liberal slant and can be manipulated. You need to
be more skeptical of the media and stop letting them influence
your perceptions and opinions.

Obama is a very good president. He has a solid grasp of both the
security needs of the country and the broad range of domestic
issues, including those government functions that our
compassionate christian and secular heritage motivate us to
provide.
Wait, lemme guess, you're a satirist. Because only a satirist
would write such things. His "solid grasp" of security needs?
Like whitewashing, for political preservation, the extent of this
scum, Hasan's activities? Like getting more worked up over an
apartment building in Jerusalem than over the fact that the
Iranians will have a nuke within 15 months? Like worrying about
the fact that they'll have ICBM (that can hit our country)
capabilities for said nuke by 2015? Or cancelling the F-22,
unilaterally retiring the Tomahawks, or missile defense due to
the protestations of the Neo Soviet thug, Putin?
Yeah, that's about as solid as Jell-O. The bong water is not for
drinking, junior.
Purpleguy| 4.23.10 @ 10:39PM
Nice recitation of talking points. Everything you mentioned saves
money - are you advocating spend, spend, spend? Are you really
afraid of Iran? Really? You conveniently have forgotten about the
world nuclear summit where Obama convinced 47 nations to give up
the nucs and signed a deal with the Russians to reduce the huge
stockpiles of our 2 countries. Rid the world of nuclear weapons?
Seems like a good grasp on security to me. Obama continues
Reagan's dream of a nuclear-free world. You might want to drop
the talking points - they aren't very sharp points anymore.
Bilbo| 4.24.10 @ 12:23AM
Nice recitation of talking points, purpleguy! Obama hasn't talked
anyone into "giving up nukes". The reduction of our
technologically superior nuclear arms to parity with the Russians
signals a victory for the assassin, Putin, not for peace. I would
also point out that we have nuclear armed enemies besides the
Russians (the Chinese, for example). Why act like this is 1961?
This treaty is dangerously stupid.
The dream of a nuclear-free world is nice, and may be possible
once the world becomes free instead of a collection of mostly
totalitarian states of one form or another.
I REALLY AM AFRAID of what Iran will do if it gets nukes, so are
countless policy experts around the world! Perhaps you are not
aware of what a bunch of insane religious fanatics the Iranian
leadership consists of. You sound as if such fears are
irrational. They are not.
Why don't you respond in detail to Navybrat's "talking points",
rather than speaking in glittering generalities? His points,
unlike yours, are extremely sharp.
Purpleguy| 4.24.10 @ 4:35PM
Very well, not that you would listen - "Like whitewashing, for
political preservation, the extent of this scum, Hasan's

part of Obama's transition team - that's a bald-faced lie.
http://urbanlegends.about.com/.....hasan.htm.
"Like getting more worked up over an apartment building in
Jerusalem than over the fact that the Iranians will have a nuke
within 15 months?" First off, any idiot knows that until there is
a Palestinian-Israeli peace settlement, the powder keg to light
upheaval in the Middle East is still there. By continuing Israeli
settlement of disputed territory makes negotiations much harder
to proceed with. " Iran having nuclear material is much more
worrisome than an ICBM, which is what I was referring to. " Like
worrying about the fact that they'll have ICBM (that can hit our
country) capabilities for said nuke by 2015?" The ICBM threat is
less an issue than a dirty bomb from a terror org. "Or cancelling
the F-22" - most in the military agreed, including the Republican
Secretary of Defense, as did most Senators, and others in a
position to know more than we do, the F-22 is not needed, and we
already have 147 of them anyway. "Unilaterally retiring the
Tomahawks" - that one I don't know about being true or just
misinformation, " or missile defense due to the protestations of
the Neo Soviet thug, Putin? " - A missile defense that doesn't
really work, but heightens tensions is no defense at all. Ergo it
was removed. due to protestations of Putin? - you'll have to
prove that one. Have a nice day!

This incident (the Hort hood terror attack) is at the foot step
of the usurper-n-thief known to his jihadist pal's as hussein

(through the news blackout) his relationship to Maj. Nadal Hasan.
He is not without some skin in this investigation. If the

Diversity is a cancer upon this nation. The good General (
Boykin) spoke to his faith and the lamebrained media liked to
tear this warrior a new a-hole, why, well because he's a
Christian. He is not the only Christian warrior ( although he
never expressed his desire for a Christian war/crusade against
this demon cult known as islam) who will stand up for the
fundamental Christian belief that if you make war against a
Christian society, in which they have no problem telling us of
their intent, we will in turn war against you for our rights to
believe as we do be it out of self preservation or
otherwise.
The problem with all of this started with the Bush Admin. when he
openly stated this is a religion of peace, it could not be futher
from the truth. This is a cult who have snaked their way
throughout their history by the wanton killing, segragation,
subjagation, threats, and intiminidation and they call it a
peaceful religion, right, like hussein obama is not a muslim,

If Bush had had the moral courage to call a spade a spade we as a

arses back to the stoneage by now saving thousands of lives in

50K + in campaign contributions, the list goes much futher than
this but, you get the point. The demonrat party thinks they can
controll this nasty monkey (islam) by colluding with them. But
they fail to understand that when push comes to shove, this

But.
There is a much larger question that must be wrestled with by the

Some how we have got to "de-couple" the Islamic religion from our
consensus FOR freedom of religion.
Now, that should not be at all impossible, but hugely difficult

The truth about liberalism is that it has always been something
of a fringe movement in this country. Its champions have always
pretended otherwise, of course, ignoring the fact that a blizzard
of lies perpetrated by the Bamster during the campaign helped to
put them atop the political heap in Washington.
Will they remain there forever? It all depends on your point of
view. For example, if you believe the Tea Party people are

they are for a very long time.
Tyler S.| 4.23.10 @ 8:46PM
The REAL secret about liberalism is that, while you're right that
it is a fringe of society (and proud of it, might I add) it is
the fringe which pulls the center to the left. Look at the world
today versus 100 years ago and tell me one single area where the
country hasn't moved toward the liberal ideal. We have made great
strides in terms of civil rights, general welfare, social
services, and federal empowerment. The liberals stay a fringe
because every time they become the mainstream and achieve the
goals of a generation, a new generation raises up on their fringe
to pull us through the next leg of the journey. I mean, if
conservativism EVER got its way, ask yourselves, would this
country look ANYTHING like it does now? I suspect it would be a
much more scaled back government primarily relegated to the
states, which generally kept tax and regulation low while not
providing social services. And yet, we live in something far
closer to the liberal ideal. The sad fact is, all your rhetoric
aside, it is the liberal fringe, not the conservative fringe,
which determines this country's future. The wheels of liberty, my
friends, turn only one way, to the left.
I welcome your reasoned objections to this statement.

You are completely correct, Sir. It amazes me how many on the
right wing profess to believe in America, when they clearly hate
Americans. From the Founders on, America has stood for
progressive, liberal ideas, as opposed to the far more
conservative European countries. Communism is much closer to
Conservatism while Democracy is closer to Socialism, but
understanding is skewed at this time due to the right wing echo
chamber talking to itself.
Bilbo| 4.24.10 @ 2:24AM
You state "From the Founders on, America has stood for
progressive, liberal ideas, as opposed to the far more
conservative European countries". What do you mean by
"progressive"? If you are using this as a euphemism for
socialism, then you couldn't be more wrong. The founders believed
in limited government, as outlined in the U.S. Constitution,
while Europe is far more socialistic than the USA. Europe was
"far more conservative" than the U.S.? In what way? What do you
mean by "conservative"? What do you mean by "liberal"? The term
"liberal" originally meant what call we call LIBERTARIAN today in
America, though it retains the same meaning in Europe that it
once had in America (before it was stolen by the left). People we
call "conservatives" today are in fact people whom we would have
labeled "liberals" a hundred years ago. Do you think that
so-called conservatives don't want change? We do-drastic change
and a return to the concepts of the founders.
You make the further statement that "Communism is much closer to
Conservatism while Democracy is closer to Socialism". In what way
is communism "closer to conservatism" when the former embraces
government ownership of the means of production and the
dictatorship of the proletariat, while the latter believes in
free enterprise and constitutional, limited government? How is
anyone's understanding of these easily obtainable facts
"skewed"?
Socialism is indeed close to democracy, in that mobs in a
democracy and under socialism are able to trample on the rights
of others via the vote (particularly property rights). The U.S.
is NOT a democracy, it is a constitutional republic with
democratic elements. Under the Constitution, there are limits to
the power of "the people", excepting that these provisions be
removed via the tortuous amendment process (e.g., "the people"
cannot simply vote away the right of free speech on a
ballot).
The founding fathers never referred to the U.S. as a "democracy",
they called it a republic and mocked democracy as "mobocracy" (at
least most of them did). A woman after the constitutional
convention asked Franklin, "What kind of a government have you
given us, Dr. Franklin?" He replied, "A republic, if you can keep
it".
Purpleguy| 4.24.10 @ 4:19PM
Liberals are people who are under the only partially mistaken
impression that altering the structure of government is the best
way to influence people and resources. Conservatives are people
who are under the only partially mistaken impression that
altering the people in power is the best way to influence other
people and their culture.
Communism is conservative. Fewer and fewer people have any say in
how the economy works. Republicans are conservative. Fewer and
fewer people (preferably just people controlling the Party
figurehead) have any say in how the government works. The
conservatives in the US are in the same position as the
communists in the 30s, and for the same reason: Their revolutions
failed spectacularly but they refuse to admit what went
wrong. http://www.romm.org/soc_com.html
A common mistake is to confuse Socialism, the economic system,
with Communism, the political system. Communists are "socialist"
in the same way that Republicans are "compassionate
conservatives". That is, they give lip service to ideals they
have no intention of practicing.

If there was a religion whose membership consisted mostly of
white people who were committing atrocities on the scale that
certain members of the Islam Faith currently are (15,000+
terrorist attacks around the world since 9/11), the left would
would not hesitate to denounce it. The disparate way in which
Christians and Muslims are treated by many of our institutions,
of which the case of General Boykin vs Major Hassan is a
conspicuous example, is a direct result of their ideological
capture by the left and of the RACIST knee-jerk impulses that
masquerade as "thought" in leftist automatons.
In the "mind" of a leftist, Christianity is associated with white
people (the "West") while Islam is associated with non-white
people (dark skinned people with towels wrapped around their
heads). The leftist has been successfully conditioned so that the
idea of white people induces negative impulses in him, while the
idea of non-white people induces positive impulses in him. Thus,
his conditioned reflex is to attack the former and defend the
latter in any situation. This reaction is itself racist, but the
leftist is unable to see this because, as a result of his
conditioning, he has great difficulty with rational concept
formation (at least, in politics) and in accepting objective
evidence that contradicts the notions with which he has been
programmed. Anything that challenges this conditioning induces
feelings of discomfort in him, so that he lashes out all the more
at white people and attempts to construct elaborate rationales
for doing so (such as "white racism").
The leftist is a dangerous but pitiful creature.

You are comparing the Talmud with the Tora. The only problem with
that that Judaism during its long history reformed itself, many
times. Religious Jews are not stoning people because of adultery
or homosexuality or for anything. They are not honor killing,
gang raping their daughters or anybody's daughters. Saying
anything about Moses will not be punished buy death.

I can not pass it. Unfortunatelly, in Jesus time the Babylonian
Talmud did not exist; period. It was completed in the end of the
500's (A.D). The Jeusalem (or Palestinian) Talmud even later. So
Jesus never condemned the Talmud because he did not know about
it. I have never read the Hadits, but I have read the Qur'an and
many parts of the Talmud I think you are a very confused person
calling the Talmud "Judeo-Fascist" and the "Qur'an is the most
freedom aspiring document in the face of the Earth". I am sure
you have a good description what is "fascist" and what means most
freedom aspiring.

To those who say "with anything but keeping religion as far from
the Government as possible." I say - surely you jest. Or are as
ignorant of the actual facts surrounding our country's founding
as may be.
"It is no exaggeration to say that on Sundays in Washington
during the administrations of Thomas Jefferson (1801-1809) and of
James Madison (1809-1817) the state became the church. Within a
year of his inauguration, Jefferson began attending church
services in the House of Representatives. Madison followed
Jefferson's example, although unlike Jefferson, who rode on
horseback to church in the Capitol, Madison came in a coach and
four. Worship services in the House--a practice that continued
until after the Civil War--were acceptable to Jefferson because
they were nondiscriminatory and voluntary. Preachers of every
Protestant denomination appeared. (Catholic priests began
officiating in 1826.) As early as January 1806 a female
evangelist, Dorothy Ripley, delivered a camp meeting-style
exhortation in the House to Jefferson, Vice President Aaron Burr,
and a "crowded audience." Throughout his administration Jefferson
permitted church services in executive branch buildings. The
Gospel was also preached in the Supreme Court chambers."
Remember that when you quote Jefferson's "wall of separation
between church and state." He's either the biggest hypocrite who
ever lived, or that phrase doesn't mean what you think it does.
Based on my reading, I'm inclined toward the latter view.
If one wants to look at how things will go, just look at what
happened to South Park. SP, a show which considers itself "edgy",
has gone the way of other comdedy shows. SP had no problem
blaspheming The Holy Mother, totally backed down to Islamists.
They depicted Muhammed as a dog (which is far better than thier
depiction of Christians, Christ, or St Mary). Some radical
jihaddist made death threats to SP producers and writers over
this one episode, and SP pulled it.
One wonders where this will all end up. Just look at Canada and
the UK.

I cannot agree with Ken's statement more, as this political

The same could be said of the newspapers and news anchors when
they stopped reporting and colored the news with personal
opinion.
I wrote on this precise topic right after obama's embarrasing Ft
Hood speech on December 1st
Deadly Double Standards: "First They Came For General Boykin
.."
We are experiencing a disturbing and dangerous trend in this
nation. Our elites are promoting Muslims and others of
questionable loyalty to positions of authority and influence and
forcing out any who dare admit to holding traditional values. The
most recent and egregious example of this is the case of mass
murderer and terrorist Major Nidal Hasan. Our President was very
quick to defend this killer and to cry out against any "rush to
judgment." Our news media propaganda machine put out story after
story linking the act of a man who screamed out "allahu akbar" as
he fired on US soldiers to the result of "stress" and a "wounded
ego." A man like Hasan was able to rise in the ranks while openly
promoting jihad, yet Christians are being systematically passed
over and forced into early retirement. Something is
unconstitutional, immoral and dangerous about this trend, but you
hear nothing about it on CBS, NBC, or CNN.
Lieutenant General William G. Boykin was the United States Deputy
Undersecretary of Defense for Intelligence. He has played a role
in almost every recent major American military operation, serving
in Grenada, Somalia, and Iraq. General Boykin was driven from
office when the liberal LA Times article revealed Boykin giving a
speech about hunting down Osman Atto in Mogadishu: "He went on
CNN and he laughed at us, and he said, 'They'll never get me
because Allah will protect me. Allah will protect me.' Well, you
know what? I knew that my God was bigger than his. I knew that my
God was a real God and his was an idol." Boykin's remarks stirred
much anger in the Muslim world, and Islamic organizations within
the US were highly critical of the comments and called for his
resignation, such as those from the Council on American-Islamic
Relations. Newsweek carried articles calling for his resignation,
while Democrats like John Kerry were quick to denounce the
remarks. Leftist Rep. John Conyers and 26 supporters put forward
H. RES. 419 "Condemning religiously intolerant remarks and
calling on the President to clearly censure and reassign
Lieutenant General Boykin." General Boykin has been the victim of
Stalinist history erasure. He has become a "non-person" according
to the dictates of the Hollywood Liberal establishment. Ever seen
the film "Blackhawk Down"? General Boykin was the Delta Force
commander of that mission. He was mysteriously omitted from the
film. Nidal Hasan can show a power point presentation about
beheading "infidels" and pouring hot oil down their throats but
General Boykin, a genuine hero suffered calumny at the hands of
Democrats. See a pattern here? T he argument could, implausibly,
be made that this was an international matter and that
domestically there is no second class citizenship for Christians.
Consider the career of Los Angeles Police Department Assistant
Chief Bob Vernon was next in line to take over after Chief Daryl
Gates, but Vernon was forced to retire after 37 years on the
force. Why was he not allowed to ascend to the role of chief?
Was he unqualified? The son of a 20-year LAPD veteran officer,
Vernon rose through the ranks from rookie street cop, to second
in command. He graduated from the University of Southern
California's Managerial Policy Institute and earned an MBA from
Pepperdine University.
The fact of the matter is that Bob Vernon is one of the early
victims of "political correctness." He had to be eliminated
because of his religion. Had he been a homosexual or a Muslim, he
would have become chief, but Bob Vernon is neither. He is a
Christian, and his Christianity was used by the Left as a tool to
bar him from the position that he so richly deserved.
Compare his situation with the mass murderer Nidal Hasan. Major
Hasan did a power point presentation at a medical conference
detailing his goal of "jihad" and how to behead "infidels." After
murdering 14 Americans and wounding over forty, US Army Chief
Staff General Casey declared that a greater loss would be to
eliminate people who fit Major Hasan's profile. "Diversity is
strength," burbled the General. This is a nonsense phrase that is
no longer just stupid, it is dangerous.
There is a double standard employed by the elites of our society.
When it comes to career promotion a glass ceiling has been
imposed on Christians and conservatives in general. To admit that
you believe homosexuality is a sin, oppose abortion and assisted
suicide ("end of life counseling" in Obamaspeak) is to end your
opportunity for advancement. Not only will you not advance but
you stand a fantastic chance of being subjected to a firestorm of
unbelievable mockery and criticism. Look at Sarah Palin, look at
Carrie Prejean. Had they not spoken out as conservatives, does
anybody honestly believe that the filthy "Perez Hilton" character
assassination would have been tolerated? If the roles had been
reversed and she had used abusive language toward him or pointed
out that he was obese, would that have been applauded in the
pages of the NY Times and the LA Times?
What happened to Bob Vernon was the opening salvo. The response
by many Christians mirrored that of the Germans living in the
Wiemar Republic as characterized by Martin Neimoller"s "First
they came for the Jews ..." First they canned Bob Vernon because
he was a born again Christian and was caricatured as an
"extremist," but I was not in line to be chief of police, so I
did nothing. Now you cannot be a beauty contestant and dare to
disagree unless you want to be smeared with the most vile
language. Now you cannot run as a conservative Republican woman
without being subject to sexist stereotypes and objectification
on the cover of Newseek magazine. You will be hung in effigy in
West Hollywood to the amusement of local news affiliates. Your
daughter will be slandered and castigated by late night talk show
host David Letterman. The feminists will simply roll their eyes
and nod. You oppose their agenda, then you deserve it, they will
think, sometimes out loud.
It is this hate and intolerance on a cultural level and the
political agenda of the secular Left that have prompted
communities of faith to create the Manhattan Declaration as a
manifesto of defiance.
On March 3, 1991 a suspected drunk driver was pursued by
California Highway Patrol and LAPD. That driver was Rodney King.
The media broadcast of his beating by officers eventually
resulted in explosive violence that left 58 people dead. Robert
Vernon gives the inside story in his book L.A Justice: Lessons
From The Firestorm. Now that time has passed, one can sit down
and read the book away from the emotionalism and hysteria whipped
up by the media, and you can see how prophetic Assistant Chief of
Police Vernon's words were.
We see the fruits of the Liberal victory in the corrupt and inept
regime of Mayor Antonio Villaraigoso. We see the fruits in the
"sanctuary city" movement that allows violent gang members to
terrorize the community. We see the poisonous fruit on the
national level with cowardice that allowed terrorist Nidal Hasan
to remain in his job at Fort Hood.
Read Robert Vernon's book and see for yourself. General Boykin is
a professor at Hampden-Sydney College, Virginia, and author of
"Never Surrender: A Soldier's Journey to the Crossroads of Faith
and Freedom." Read what these men have to say and then compare it
to the statements of people like Nidal Hasan, Van Jones, Kevin
Jennings and Michele Obama. Ask yourself which views are truly
mainstream and which are extremist. Consider how the dangerous
double standards of the Left that have resulted in unnecessary
evil like that perpetrated at Ft Hood.

Revisionist historians, Renegade Liberals, as George Orwell named them, write the propaganda that America is not a Christian nation, in the sense that her culture, values and Constitution in no way reflect Christian principle.
Alex deToqueville, forgive my spelling, in this magnum opus Democracy in America, tells of the Puritans who came to America not only to practice their religions, but create a government of freedom as their intention is particularly set forth in the Bill of Rights.
Purpleguy| 4.23.10 @ 9:51PM
It's Alexis de Tocqueville... and the Puritans came here to escape religious persecution and the freedom to practice their religion. They were happily British citizens for well over a 100 years. The American Revolution was in large part to throw off the yoke of the British Monarchy that treated Americans as second class citizens. The Bill of Rights was even further down the road in history in order to protect the minority from the abuses of majority rule - since they majority would always have their way.

The United States enjoys freedom of religion and therfore, despite a strongly christian tradition, is not a christian nation. It is a secular nation. Your reading of the constitution appears to be selective...perfectly aligned....as long as you only read the parts you want to see....
David T.| 4.23.10 @ 3:52PM
Dear jake1492
The U.S. may not be a Christian nation, but it certainly wasn't founded as a "secular nation," either The Constitution was the product of Christian men and others who were steeped in Christian ethics and traditions. It could not have been written by secularists or men of any other religious persuasion.
Purpleguy| 4.23.10 @ 10:11PM
You are so wrong. Apparently, you don't know the Founders as well as you think or you have been brainwashed by the Right Wing Spin Machine.
"The Government of the United States is not in any sense founded on the Christian Religion" - John Adams, from the Treaty of Tripoli, Article 11. OR - how do you reconcile this:
" One day the dawn of reason and freedom of thought in the United States will tear down the artificial scaffolding of Christianity. And the day will come when the mystical generation of Jesus, by the Supreme Being as His Father, in the womb of a virgin will be classed with the fable of the generation of Minerva in the brain of Jupiter." Thomas Jefferson, from a letter to John Adams, April 11, 1823. OR -
"Some books against Deism fell into my hands .. It happened that they wrought an effect on me quite contrary to what was intended by them; for the arguments of the Deists, which were quoted to be refuted, appeared to me much stronger than the refutations, in short, I soon became a thorough Deist." Benjamin Franklin, The Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin. OR -
My own mind is my own Church. All national institutions of churches, whether Jewish, Christian, or Turkish, appear to me no other than human interventions, set up to terrify and enslave mankind, and monopolize power and profit. " - Thomas Paine, The Age of Reason.
Go look it up if you don't believe me, but the Founders DID NOT found this country with anything but keeping religion as far from the Government as possible. They feared, nay, even hated religion's power should it get entangled with the Government. These are the FACTS!

are you always this disingenuous in your thinking? truly astounding. religion, of course, serves more than one purpose - not just spiritual, not just one among many competing interest groups (the part that scares you and purple-prevaricator) influencing government, not just one agency working to improve its communities......but also as an institution that works to inculcate and sanction a particular moral structure. the founding fathers knew this full well...and supported this role. it it this aspect that truly frightens the modern day purveyors of government moderated and enforced righteousness. their sangfroid perishes at the slightest pretense of a competing set of ends girded by a different, more Universal morality.
oh...and I'm not a religious person. never have been.

"The purpose of separation of church and state is to keep forever from these shores the ceaseless strife that has soaked the soil of Europe with blood for centuries."- James Madison
Can we put the issue to bed finally? The Founders feared religion, they didn't found the country as a Christian or any other religious denomination country. They were Christians, but did not want the Government anywhere near religion and vice a versa, period, end of story!

Anyhow, leaving aside your illiteracy, Purp, I have come to assure you that I can quote many, many others of the Founders insisting that the virtues inculcated by religion are absolutely necessary to the health of a representative democracy. Even the minority of Deists and atheists, by and large, were not hostile to religion per se. But they were nearly all adamantly against the establishment of any particular religion along the lines of the Anglican Church of England or the Roman Catholic Church of Spain or Italy. Only a few were motivated by latter-day Purp-like hostility against religion in general.

It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other." --October 11, 1798
"I have examined all religions, as well as my narrow sphere, my straightened means, and my busy life, would allow; and the result is that the Bible is the best Book in the world. It contains more philosophy than all the libraries I have seen." December 25, 1813 letter to Thomas Jefferson

John Quincy Adams:
• “Why is it that, next to the birthday of the Savior of the world, your most joyous and most venerated festival returns on this day [the Fourth of July]?" “Is it not that, in the chain of human events, the birthday of the nation is indissolubly linked with the birthday of the Savior? That it forms a leading event in the progress of the Gospel dispensation? Is it not that the Declaration of Independence first organized the social compact on the foundation of the Redeemer's mission upon earth? That it laid the cornerstone of human government upon the first precepts of Christianity"?
--1837, at the age of 69, when he delivered a Fourth of July speech at Newburyport, Massachusetts.
Benjamin Franklin: | Portrait of Ben Franklin
“ God governs in the affairs of man. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without his notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without His aid? We have been assured in the Sacred Writings that except the Lord build the house, they labor in vain that build it. I firmly believe this. I also believe that, without His concurring aid, we shall succeed in this political building no better than the builders of Babel” –Constitutional Convention of 1787 | original manuscript of this speech
“In the beginning of the contest with Britain, when we were sensible of danger, we had daily prayers in this room for Divine protection. Our prayers, Sir, were heard, and they were graciously answered… do we imagine we no longer need His assistance?” [Constitutional Convention, Thursday June 28, 1787]
In Benjamin Franklin's 1749 plan of education for public schools in Pennsylvania, he insisted that schools teach "the excellency of the Christian religion above all others, ancient or modern."
In 1787 when Franklin helped found Benjamin Franklin University, it was dedicated as "a nursery of religion and learning, built on Christ, the Cornerstone."
Alexander Hamilton:
• Hamilton began work with the Rev. James Bayard to form the Christian Constitutional Society to help spread over the world the two things which Hamilton said made America great:
(1) Christianity
(2) a Constitution formed under Christianity.
“The Christian Constitutional Society, its object is first: The support of the Christian religion. Second: The support of the United States.”
On July 12, 1804 at his death, Hamilton said, “I have a tender reliance on the mercy of the Almighty, through the merits of the Lord Jesus Christ. I am a sinner. I look to Him for mercy; pray for me.”
"For my own part, I sincerely esteem it [the Constitution] a system which without the finger of God, never could have been suggested and agreed upon by such a diversity of interests." [1787 after the Constitutional Convention]
"I have carefully examined the evidences of the Christian religion, and if I was sitting as a juror upon its authenticity I would unhesitatingly give my verdict in its favor. I can prove its truth as clearly as any proposition ever submitted to the mind of man."
John Hancock:
• “In circumstances as dark as these, it becomes us, as Men and Christians, to reflect that whilst every prudent measure should be taken to ward off the impending judgments, …at the same time all confidence must be withheld from the means we use; and reposed only on that God rules in the armies of Heaven, and without His whole blessing, the best human counsels are but foolishness… Resolved; …Thursday the 11th of May…to humble themselves before God under the heavy judgments felt and feared, to confess the sins that have deserved them, to implore the Forgiveness of all our transgressions, and a spirit of repentance and reformation …and a Blessing on the … Union of the American Colonies in Defense of their Rights [for which hitherto we desire to thank Almighty God]…That the people of Great Britain and their rulers may have their eyes opened to discern the things that shall make for the peace of the nation…for the redress of America’s many grievances, the restoration of all her invaded liberties, and their security to the latest generations.

—The Last Will and Testament of Patrick Henry
“It cannot be emphasized too clearly and too often that this nation was founded, not by religionists, but by Christians; not on religion, but on the gospel of Jesus Christ. For this very reason, peoples of other faiths have been afforded asylum, prosperity, and freedom of worship here.” [May 1765 Speech to the House of Burgesses]
“The Bible is worth all other books which have ever been printed.”

The Correspondence and Public Papers of John Jay, Henry P. Johnston, ed., (New York: Burt Franklin, 1970), Vol. IV, p. 393.
“Whether our religion permits Christians to vote for infidel rulers is a question which merits more consideration than it seems yet to have generally received either from the clergy or the laity. It appears to me that what the prophet said to Jehoshaphat about his attachment to Ahab ["Shouldest thou help the ungodly and love them that hate the Lord?" 2 Chronicles 19:2] affords a salutary lesson.” [The Correspondence and Public Papers of John Jay, 1794-1826, Henry P. Thomas Jefferson:
“ The doctrines of Jesus are simple, and tend to all the happiness of man.”
“Of all the systems of morality, ancient or modern which have come under my observation, none appears to me so pure as that of Jesus.”
"I am a real Christian, that is to say, a disciple of the doctrines of Jesus."
“God who gave us life gave us liberty. And can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are a gift from God? That they are not to be violated but with His wrath? Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just, and that His justice cannot sleep forever.” (excerpts are inscribed on the walls of the Jefferson Memorial in the nations capital) [Source: Merrill . James Madison
“ We’ve staked our future on our ability to follow the Ten Commandments with all of our heart.”
“We have staked the whole future of American civilization, not upon the power of government, far from it. We’ve staked the future of all our political institutions upon our capacity…to sustain ourselves according to the Ten Commandments of God.” [1778 to the General Assembly of the State of Virginia]
The Founding Fathers of the Republic based everything on their religion. What you two schmucks fail to see is that they did not want the STATE to say that any one religion was better than the other (i.e The Church if England or Scotland)

There is considerable evidence that supports the idea that this country was founded on a judeo-Christian basis. However, the most important fact about American is that it is a pluralistic nation, full of many cultures and religions. What I don't like is Christians whining about how they're being mistreated and disrespected, then go around writing and supporting articles that slander and misrepresent Islam. That's exactly what this article does.
And I have a HUGE problem with equating anti-Christian to anti-American. You can be a true American and still dislike Christians and their faith.
John II| 4.26.10 @ 7:02PM
You clearly haven't studied Islam or even read the Qur'an. Such blithering remarks always put me in mind of Gibbon and the question, "Why do western folks who 'dislike Christians and their faith' almost always feel warm fuzzies toward Islam, which actually practices all the depredations that western secularists attribute to Christianity?"
Why?
(Notice how there is no way on earth that anybody is ever going to read this buried posting. We Christians are so committed to the Truth that we announce it to the winds, including windy secularists. I plumb reckon.)
John of Virginia| 4.23.10 @ 9:30PM
Must agree with you, Brian Mc. I took the same oath to protect and defend, and have never found a conflict with my Christian beliefs.
Also, since Islam is a political religion, meaning it calls for a theocratic state under sharia, I don't see how a practicing Muslim can take our oath and not be lying. That is, there is an inherent conflict between Islam and freedom of conscience. There is no such conflict for this Baptist.

However, HSPI and the Presidential Transition Task Force are purely academic bodies with no affiliation whatsoever to Obama's official Homeland Security transition team, according to a statement issed by the Institute, nor was Hasan ever a member, briefer, or featured speaker at any HSPI event.

I live on a large rural property. I spend a lot of time outdoors and appreciate the beauty and, well, diversity of nature. That diversity includes lots of wildlife, including snakes. Most of those are completely harmless--garter snakes, blacksnakes and the eastern milk snakes and, in their own way, beautiful and fascinating. However, there are some varities which are not harmless--copperheads and timber rattlers. Accordingly, when I'm in the woods, I keep a sharp eye out, and carefully observe any snake I encounter. Is that profiling? Of course. I do it because it would be stupid not to. Why in the world should one not apply the same standards in "polite society" where some groups of people have a long history of intolerant, violent , aggressive and dangerous behavior? I have no problem profiling those people either. Nor should the U.S. Army.

On my great Uncles back porch on a ranch in the Sand Hills of Nebraska, leaning against the wall was the “trash can companion.” When taking the trash to the “burn barrels” in the morning you would often encounter rattlesnakes. The “companion” was a three foot section of tree limb to the end of which was baling wired a sixteen inch section of log chain. Etched into the grips of my 1911 are the initials TCC: it is my small contribution to the text message fad. Both of these tools are discretionary, simple to operate, and perform exactly the same function.
R Martin| 4.25.10 @ 7:28PM
It doesn't surprise me that you base your grand theory on a simple comparison to snakes in your rural haven. Humans are not snakes!
You cannot determine whether a human being is dangerous based on their color or ethnicity. When you say some groups have a history, you mean that they have a history in your mind of committing terrorist acts. In some ways, that's understandable. The media floods us with unfavorable images of Islam and Arabs in general, never bothering to do stories on the vibrant Arab American communities or Islam as it truly is and not how a few sickos have distorted it.
Do not let yourself fall pray to the sensationalist media. They will tell you what sells and if that isn't the truth, then so be it, they say. You as a conservative should know that the media generally has a liberal slant and can be manipulated. You need to be more skeptical of the media and stop letting them influence your perceptions and opinions.

"pretender in chief" nice insult...perhaps a bit of "name calling".

NavyBrat| 4.23.10 @ 12:36PM
Wait, lemme guess, you're a satirist. Because only a satirist would write such things. His "solid grasp" of security needs? Like whitewashing, for political preservation, the extent of this scum, Hasan's activities? Like getting more worked up over an apartment building in Jerusalem than over the fact that the Iranians will have a nuke within 15 months? Like worrying about the fact that they'll have ICBM (that can hit our country) capabilities for said nuke by 2015? Or cancelling the F-22, unilaterally retiring the Tomahawks, or missile defense due to the protestations of the Neo Soviet thug, Putin?
Yeah, that's about as solid as Jell-O. The bong water is not for drinking, junior.
Purpleguy| 4.23.10 @ 10:39PM
Nice recitation of talking points. Everything you mentioned saves money - are you advocating spend, spend, spend? Are you really afraid of Iran? Really? You conveniently have forgotten about the world nuclear summit where Obama convinced 47 nations to give up the nucs and signed a deal with the Russians to reduce the huge stockpiles of our 2 countries. Rid the world of nuclear weapons? Seems like a good grasp on security to me. Obama continues Reagan's dream of a nuclear-free world. You might want to drop the talking points - they aren't very sharp points anymore.
Bilbo| 4.24.10 @ 12:23AM
Nice recitation of talking points, purpleguy! Obama hasn't talked anyone into "giving up nukes". The reduction of our technologically superior nuclear arms to parity with the Russians signals a victory for the assassin, Putin, not for peace. I would also point out that we have nuclear armed enemies besides the Russians (the Chinese, for example). Why act like this is 1961? This treaty is dangerously stupid.
The dream of a nuclear-free world is nice, and may be possible once the world becomes free instead of a collection of mostly totalitarian states of one form or another.
I REALLY AM AFRAID of what Iran will do if it gets nukes, so are countless policy experts around the world! Perhaps you are not aware of what a bunch of insane religious fanatics the Iranian leadership consists of. You sound as if such fears are irrational. They are not.
Why don't you respond in detail to Navybrat's "talking points", rather than speaking in glittering generalities? His points, unlike yours, are extremely sharp.
Purpleguy| 4.24.10 @ 4:35PM
Very well, not that you would listen - "Like whitewashing, for political preservation, the extent of this scum, Hasan's activities?" - you must prove that one - and don't tell me he was part of Obama's transition team - that's a bald-faced lie. http://urbanlegends.about.com/.....hasan.htm.
"Like getting more worked up over an apartment building in Jerusalem than over the fact that the Iranians will have a nuke within 15 months?" First off, any idiot knows that until there is a Palestinian-Israeli peace settlement, the powder keg to light upheaval in the Middle East is still there. By continuing Israeli settlement of disputed territory makes negotiations much harder to proceed with. " Iran having nuclear material is much more worrisome than an ICBM, which is what I was referring to. " Like worrying about the fact that they'll have ICBM (that can hit our country) capabilities for said nuke by 2015?" The ICBM threat is less an issue than a dirty bomb from a terror org. "Or cancelling the F-22" - most in the military agreed, including the Republican Secretary of Defense, as did most Senators, and others in a position to know more than we do, the F-22 is not needed, and we already have 147 of them anyway. "Unilaterally retiring the Tomahawks" - that one I don't know about being true or just misinformation, " or missile defense due to the protestations of the Neo Soviet thug, Putin? " - A missile defense that doesn't really work, but heightens tensions is no defense at all. Ergo it was removed. due to protestations of Putin? - you'll have to prove that one. Have a nice day!

This incident (the Hort hood terror attack) is at the foot step of the usurper-n-thief known to his jihadist pal's as hussein obama. The buck stopped at his desk when he tried to wash away (through the news blackout) his relationship to Maj. Nadal Hasan. He is not without some skin in this investigation. If the lamebrained media had any sense of worth or revelence to what is the American way they would be on this like stink on shit.
Diversity is a cancer upon this nation. The good General ( Boykin) spoke to his faith and the lamebrained media liked to tear this warrior a new a-hole, why, well because he's a Christian. He is not the only Christian warrior ( although he never expressed his desire for a Christian war/crusade against this demon cult known as islam) who will stand up for the fundamental Christian belief that if you make war against a Christian society, in which they have no problem telling us of their intent, we will in turn war against you for our rights to believe as we do be it out of self preservation or otherwise.
The problem with all of this started with the Bush Admin. when he openly stated this is a religion of peace, it could not be futher from the truth. This is a cult who have snaked their way throughout their history by the wanton killing, segragation, subjagation, threats, and intiminidation and they call it a peaceful religion, right, like hussein obama is not a muslim, sure I get it.
If Bush had had the moral courage to call a spade a spade we as a Nation at war with islamic terrorist would have kicked their arses back to the stoneage by now saving thousands of lives in the process and made it crystal clear that the next step would be complete and utter destruction of their mosques (generals headquarters) in medina and mecca. . But, no we can't have that now can we because bush say's so. And besides where would many of the current admin's handlers be without the financing of the muslims they call peaceful, examples you ask? Why is dick durbin called turbin durbin, why did the hildabeast (hillary klinton after public disclosure) give back to the muslim orginazitions 50K + in campaign contributions, the list goes much futher than this but, you get the point. The demonrat party thinks they can controll this nasty monkey (islam) by colluding with them. But they fail to understand that when push comes to shove, this warrior, even though retired and physically messed up will join in on the final battle chasing them back to hell where they belong. Like Trumann, GWBush also failed to cut to the chase. Trumann refused to consider well the only solution to the Korean Conflict that Gen. Put them in situation after situation to suffer endless combat without the directive to do what it takes to obliterate the enemy. The Oval Office pulls out and sues for a truce rather than win and establish terms for peace so that the world could enjoy free trade. Ah, there it is. After considering Eisenhower's WHO ME? "Beware the Military Industrial Complex" speech, I've come to despise him for promoting all of that very thing throughout his entire career both in military, politics and "retirement" business investments; and then acting out of cowardice he washes his hands of his guilt as he left office. AS IF that cleansed him, by his final, "Oh, BTW, you've all been suckered and I'm not going to let you in on how to disengage what I've administered being built."
As both major parties asked him to run for potus on their ticket, did Eisenhower change party from Democrat to Republican as one of the first politicians to promote the conversion of the Republican Party into national socialism -- government contracts for public works given to preferential insider "too big to fail" corporations for all those highways and public works?

Well,
Every military seems to have a good REMF cohort of careerists. I guess we just have to accept that as a given.
But.
There is a much larger question that must be wrestled with by the American people and our congress..... and..... and our Supreme Court.
Some how we have got to "de-couple" the Islamic religion from our consensus FOR freedom of religion.
Now, that should not be at all impossible, but hugely difficult to be sure.
To the best of my knowledge, the Koran is the only religious text that expects and even "requires" holy war, dhimmitude, and/or death of everybody except muslim males.
Folks, that makes it a "death/slavery cult"...doesn't it?
It seems to me then, the only muslims that we need not suspect or fear...are the badly "backslidden" ones....or the secretly foresworn ones .
It seems to me that we might have in fact been in an unacknowledged "Holy War" with Islam, since the day our "Declaration of Independence" was signed .
.........You know...the".....Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" words?
Was Our "Declaration of Independence" in fact a declaration of war in muslim minds?

The truth about liberalism is that it has always been something of a fringe movement in this country. Its champions have always pretended otherwise, of course, ignoring the fact that a blizzard of lies perpetrated by the Bamster during the campaign helped to put them atop the political heap in Washington.
Will they remain there forever? It all depends on your point of view. For example, if you believe the Tea Party people are "seditious," "racist," and "mean spirited" libs get to stay where they are for a very long time.
Tyler S.| 4.23.10 @ 8:46PM
The REAL secret about liberalism is that, while you're right that it is a fringe of society (and proud of it, might I add) it is the fringe which pulls the center to the left. Look at the world today versus 100 years ago and tell me one single area where the country hasn't moved toward the liberal ideal. We have made great strides in terms of civil rights, general welfare, social services, and federal empowerment. The liberals stay a fringe because every time they become the mainstream and achieve the goals of a generation, a new generation raises up on their fringe to pull us through the next leg of the journey. I mean, if conservativism EVER got its way, ask yourselves, would this country look ANYTHING like it does now? I suspect it would be a much more scaled back government primarily relegated to the states, which generally kept tax and regulation low while not providing social services. And yet, we live in something far closer to the liberal ideal. The sad fact is, all your rhetoric aside, it is the liberal fringe, not the conservative fringe, which determines this country's future. The wheels of liberty, my friends, turn only one way, to the left.
I welcome your reasoned objections to this statement.

The obamagedon PIMP thugocracy chugs along....
The sad fact is:
Socialism works (sorta') until you run out of other peoples money.
BTW exactly where in the Constitution does it say that government is to provide social services? Ohh that's right, spll / jihadist don't believe in a permanent Constitution except the one that the elitst ruling class wants to implement and change routinely at their every whim.
The wheel turns full circle.
Purpleguy| 4.23.10 @ 11:06PM
You are completely correct, Sir. It amazes me how many on the right wing profess to believe in America, when they clearly hate Americans. From the Founders on, America has stood for progressive, liberal ideas, as opposed to the far more conservative European countries. Communism is much closer to Conservatism while Democracy is closer to Socialism, but understanding is skewed at this time due to the right wing echo chamber talking to itself.
Bilbo| 4.24.10 @ 2:24AM
You state "From the Founders on, America has stood for progressive, liberal ideas, as opposed to the far more conservative European countries". What do you mean by "progressive"? If you are using this as a euphemism for socialism, then you couldn't be more wrong. The founders believed in limited government, as outlined in the U.S. Constitution, while Europe is far more socialistic than the USA. Europe was "far more conservative" than the U.S.? In what way? What do you mean by "conservative"? What do you mean by "liberal"? The term "liberal" originally meant what call we call LIBERTARIAN today in America, though it retains the same meaning in Europe that it once had in America (before it was stolen by the left). People we call "conservatives" today are in fact people whom we would have labeled "liberals" a hundred years ago. Do you think that so-called conservatives don't want change? We do-drastic change and a return to the concepts of the founders.
You make the further statement that "Communism is much closer to Conservatism while Democracy is closer to Socialism". In what way is communism "closer to conservatism" when the former embraces government ownership of the means of production and the dictatorship of the proletariat, while the latter believes in free enterprise and constitutional, limited government? How is anyone's understanding of these easily obtainable facts "skewed"?
Socialism is indeed close to democracy, in that mobs in a democracy and under socialism are able to trample on the rights of others via the vote (particularly property rights). The U.S. is NOT a democracy, it is a constitutional republic with democratic elements. Under the Constitution, there are limits to the power of "the people", excepting that these provisions be removed via the tortuous amendment process (e.g., "the people" cannot simply vote away the right of free speech on a ballot).
The founding fathers never referred to the U.S. as a "democracy", they called it a republic and mocked democracy as "mobocracy" (at least most of them did). A woman after the constitutional convention asked Franklin, "What kind of a government have you given us, Dr. Franklin?" He replied, "A republic, if you can keep it".
Purpleguy| 4.24.10 @ 4:19PM
Liberals are people who are under the only partially mistaken impression that altering the structure of government is the best way to influence people and resources. Conservatives are people who are under the only partially mistaken impression that altering the people in power is the best way to influence other people and their culture.
Communism is conservative. Fewer and fewer people have any say in how the economy works. Republicans are conservative. Fewer and fewer people (preferably just people controlling the Party figurehead) have any say in how the government works. The conservatives in the US are in the same position as the communists in the 30s, and for the same reason: Their revolutions failed spectacularly but they refuse to admit what went wrong.
http://www.romm.org/soc_com.html
A common mistake is to confuse Socialism, the economic system, with Communism, the political system. Communists are "socialist" in the same way that Republicans are "compassionate conservatives". That is, they give lip service to ideals they have no intention of practicing.

Socialism is liberal. More people (preferably everyone) have some say in how the economy works. Democracy is liberal. More people (preferably everyone) have some say in how the government works. "Democracy," said Marx, "is the road to socialism." He was wrong about how economics and politics interact, but he did see their similar underpinnings.

If there was a religion whose membership consisted mostly of white people who were committing atrocities on the scale that certain members of the Islam Faith currently are (15,000+ terrorist attacks around the world since 9/11), the left would would not hesitate to denounce it. The disparate way in which Christians and Muslims are treated by many of our institutions, of which the case of General Boykin vs Major Hassan is a conspicuous example, is a direct result of their ideological capture by the left and of the RACIST knee-jerk impulses that masquerade as "thought" in leftist automatons.
In the "mind" of a leftist, Christianity is associated with white people (the "West") while Islam is associated with non-white people (dark skinned people with towels wrapped around their heads). The leftist has been successfully conditioned so that the idea of white people induces negative impulses in him, while the idea of non-white people induces positive impulses in him. Thus, his conditioned reflex is to attack the former and defend the latter in any situation. This reaction is itself racist, but the leftist is unable to see this because, as a result of his conditioning, he has great difficulty with rational concept formation (at least, in politics) and in accepting objective evidence that contradicts the notions with which he has been programmed. Anything that challenges this conditioning induces feelings of discomfort in him, so that he lashes out all the more at white people and attempts to construct elaborate rationales for doing so (such as "white racism").
The leftist is a dangerous but pitiful creature.

There is no violence in the Quran. If you would compare the Quran with the Torah in terms of violence, the Torah will KO the Quran in less than 10 seconds.
Sunni/Shiasm maybe, but they rely on Hadiths(oral traditions) and not on the Quran. The Hadith were compiled two or three centuries after Muhammad and plays the same role with Islam as the Talmud with Judaism. Jesus condemned the Talmud due to its Judeo-facism and the Quran also condemned the Talmud. The Hadiths that dominate Islam today(Sunni/Shia) also promotes Islamo-facism. But the Quran itself is the most freedom aspiring scripture in the face of the Earth.

Have you ever heard of Brigette Gabriel?
Also, you may want to watch the video, "Obsession Islam"...though I must warn you, it will require forty minutes of your valuable time. Go ahead and google it! Watch it! Then, after all that, you can come back and explain it all away...somehow.
Your final sentence is so repugnant that I'll admit to the wish that it should be expunged from your remark so that those who take your word for gospel, and fail to see this response to it, will NOT go away from this site with your twisted view of reality.

You are comparing the Talmud with the Tora. The only problem with that that Judaism during its long history reformed itself, many times. Religious Jews are not stoning people because of adultery or homosexuality or for anything. They are not honor killing, gang raping their daughters or anybody's daughters. Saying anything about Moses will not be punished buy death.

Sura 33, Al Azhab (The Confederates), verse 26: "And those of the People of the Book who aided them - Allah did take them down from their strongholds and cast terror into their hearts. (So that) some ye slew, and some ye made prisoners. "
Sura 33, Al Anfal (The spoils of war) is devoted to making war against unbelievers and sharing out the booty.

I can not pass it. Unfortunatelly, in Jesus time the Babylonian Talmud did not exist; period. It was completed in the end of the 500's (A.D). The Jeusalem (or Palestinian) Talmud even later. So Jesus never condemned the Talmud because he did not know about it. I have never read the Hadits, but I have read the Qur'an and many parts of the Talmud I think you are a very confused person calling the Talmud "Judeo-Fascist" and the "Qur'an is the most freedom aspiring document in the face of the Earth". I am sure you have a good description what is "fascist" and what means most freedom aspiring.

To those who say "with anything but keeping religion as far from the Government as possible." I say - surely you jest. Or are as ignorant of the actual facts surrounding our country's founding as may be.
"It is no exaggeration to say that on Sundays in Washington during the administrations of Thomas Jefferson (1801-1809) and of James Madison (1809-1817) the state became the church. Within a year of his inauguration, Jefferson began attending church services in the House of Representatives. Madison followed Jefferson's example, although unlike Jefferson, who rode on horseback to church in the Capitol, Madison came in a coach and four. Worship services in the House--a practice that continued until after the Civil War--were acceptable to Jefferson because they were nondiscriminatory and voluntary. Preachers of every Protestant denomination appeared. (Catholic priests began officiating in 1826.) As early as January 1806 a female evangelist, Dorothy Ripley, delivered a camp meeting-style exhortation in the House to Jefferson, Vice President Aaron Burr, and a "crowded audience." Throughout his administration Jefferson permitted church services in executive branch buildings. The Gospel was also preached in the Supreme Court chambers."
Remember that when you quote Jefferson's "wall of separation between church and state." He's either the biggest hypocrite who ever lived, or that phrase doesn't mean what you think it does. Based on my reading, I'm inclined toward the latter view.

If one wants to look at how things will go, just look at what happened to South Park. SP, a show which considers itself "edgy", has gone the way of other comdedy shows. SP had no problem blaspheming The Holy Mother, totally backed down to Islamists. They depicted Muhammed as a dog (which is far better than thier depiction of Christians, Christ, or St Mary). Some radical jihaddist made death threats to SP producers and writers over this one episode, and SP pulled it.
One wonders where this will all end up. Just look at Canada and the UK.

I cannot agree with Ken's statement more, as this political correctness and infiltration of, not only our military but our federal government's administration as well, has put this country in dire/deadly circumstances and must be reversed. This administration has twarted the investigation of the US Justice Department's negation of a slam-dunk legal case against the New Black Panthers for racial preference reasons; and likewise its review of the former Inspector General Gerald Walpin firing for political purposes. It's simply the CHICAGO WAY of political corruption. These, on top of the WEALTH REDISTRIBUTING fiscal policies of the enacted [non] stimulus bill, the WELFARE oriented healthcare bill, etc; are [or should be] slap-in-the-face recognition to American taxpayers/voters that they should RUN, not walk, to the voting polls/booths in November!!!!

I wrote on this precise topic right after obama's embarrasing Ft Hood speech on December 1st
Deadly Double Standards: "First They Came For General Boykin .."
We are experiencing a disturbing and dangerous trend in this nation. Our elites are promoting Muslims and others of questionable loyalty to positions of authority and influence and forcing out any who dare admit to holding traditional values. The most recent and egregious example of this is the case of mass murderer and terrorist Major Nidal Hasan. Our President was very quick to defend this killer and to cry out against any "rush to judgment." Our news media propaganda machine put out story after story linking the act of a man who screamed out "allahu akbar" as he fired on US soldiers to the result of "stress" and a "wounded ego." A man like Hasan was able to rise in the ranks while openly promoting jihad, yet Christians are being systematically passed over and forced into early retirement. Something is unconstitutional, immoral and dangerous about this trend, but you hear nothing about it on CBS, NBC, or CNN.
Lieutenant General William G. Boykin was the United States Deputy Undersecretary of Defense for Intelligence. He has played a role in almost every recent major American military operation, serving in Grenada, Somalia, and Iraq. General Boykin was driven from office when the liberal LA Times article revealed Boykin giving a speech about hunting down Osman Atto in Mogadishu: "He went on CNN and he laughed at us, and he said, 'They'll never get me because Allah will protect me. Allah will protect me.' Well, you know what? I knew that my God was bigger than his. I knew that my God was a real God and his was an idol." Boykin's remarks stirred much anger in the Muslim world, and Islamic organizations within the US were highly critical of the comments and called for his resignation, such as those from the Council on American-Islamic Relations. Newsweek carried articles calling for his resignation, while Democrats like John Kerry were quick to denounce the remarks. Leftist Rep. John Conyers and 26 supporters put forward H. RES. 419 "Condemning religiously intolerant remarks and calling on the President to clearly censure and reassign Lieutenant General Boykin." General Boykin has been the victim of Stalinist history erasure. He has become a "non-person" according to the dictates of the Hollywood Liberal establishment. Ever seen the film "Blackhawk Down"? General Boykin was the Delta Force commander of that mission. He was mysteriously omitted from the film. Nidal Hasan can show a power point presentation about beheading "infidels" and pouring hot oil down their throats but General Boykin, a genuine hero suffered calumny at the hands of Democrats. See a pattern here? T he argument could, implausibly, be made that this was an international matter and that domestically there is no second class citizenship for Christians. Consider the career of Los Angeles Police Department Assistant Chief Bob Vernon was next in line to take over after Chief Daryl Gates, but Vernon was forced to retire after 37 years on the force. Why was he not allowed to ascend to the role of chief?
Was he unqualified? The son of a 20-year LAPD veteran officer, Vernon rose through the ranks from rookie street cop, to second in command. He graduated from the University of Southern California's Managerial Policy Institute and earned an MBA from Pepperdine University.
The fact of the matter is that Bob Vernon is one of the early victims of "political correctness." He had to be eliminated because of his religion. Had he been a homosexual or a Muslim, he would have become chief, but Bob Vernon is neither. He is a Christian, and his Christianity was used by the Left as a tool to bar him from the position that he so richly deserved.
Compare his situation with the mass murderer Nidal Hasan. Major Hasan did a power point presentation at a medical conference detailing his goal of "jihad" and how to behead "infidels." After murdering 14 Americans and wounding over forty, US Army Chief Staff General Casey declared that a greater loss would be to eliminate people who fit Major Hasan's profile. "Diversity is strength," burbled the General. This is a nonsense phrase that is no longer just stupid, it is dangerous.
There is a double standard employed by the elites of our society. When it comes to career promotion a glass ceiling has been imposed on Christians and conservatives in general. To admit that you believe homosexuality is a sin, oppose abortion and assisted suicide ("end of life counseling" in Obamaspeak) is to end your opportunity for advancement. Not only will you not advance but you stand a fantastic chance of being subjected to a firestorm of unbelievable mockery and criticism. Look at Sarah Palin, look at Carrie Prejean. Had they not spoken out as conservatives, does anybody honestly believe that the filthy "Perez Hilton" character assassination would have been tolerated? If the roles had been reversed and she had used abusive language toward him or pointed out that he was obese, would that have been applauded in the pages of the NY Times and the LA Times?
What happened to Bob Vernon was the opening salvo. The response by many Christians mirrored that of the Germans living in the Wiemar Republic as characterized by Martin Neimoller"s "First they came for the Jews ..." First they canned Bob Vernon because he was a born again Christian and was caricatured as an "extremist," but I was not in line to be chief of police, so I did nothing. Now you cannot be a beauty contestant and dare to disagree unless you want to be smeared with the most vile language. Now you cannot run as a conservative Republican woman without being subject to sexist stereotypes and objectification on the cover of Newseek magazine. You will be hung in effigy in West Hollywood to the amusement of local news affiliates. Your daughter will be slandered and castigated by late night talk show host David Letterman. The feminists will simply roll their eyes and nod. You oppose their agenda, then you deserve it, they will think, sometimes out loud.
It is this hate and intolerance on a cultural level and the political agenda of the secular Left that have prompted communities of faith to create the Manhattan Declaration as a manifesto of defiance.
On March 3, 1991 a suspected drunk driver was pursued by California Highway Patrol and LAPD. That driver was Rodney King. The media broadcast of his beating by officers eventually resulted in explosive violence that left 58 people dead. Robert Vernon gives the inside story in his book L.A Justice: Lessons From The Firestorm. Now that time has passed, one can sit down and read the book away from the emotionalism and hysteria whipped up by the media, and you can see how prophetic Assistant Chief of Police Vernon's words were.
We see the fruits of the Liberal victory in the corrupt and inept regime of Mayor Antonio Villaraigoso. We see the fruits in the "sanctuary city" movement that allows violent gang members to terrorize the community. We see the poisonous fruit on the national level with cowardice that allowed terrorist Nidal Hasan to remain in his job at Fort Hood.
Read Robert Vernon's book and see for yourself. General Boykin is a professor at Hampden-Sydney College, Virginia, and author of "Never Surrender: A Soldier's Journey to the Crossroads of Faith and Freedom." Read what these men have to say and then compare it to the statements of people like Nidal Hasan, Van Jones, Kevin Jennings and Michele Obama. Ask yourself which views are truly mainstream and which are extremist. Consider how the dangerous double standards of the Left that have resulted in unnecessary evil like that perpetrated at Ft Hood.
