The government our El Presidente has given us -- but will we have to keep it?
But President Obama persisted in his Arcadia University demagoguery, proclaiming that under Obamacare, "This year, insurance companies…will be banned from dropping your coverage when you get sick. And they will no longer be able to arbitrarily and massively hike your premiums."
Here is how regulation is supposed to work under current law, so conservatives will know they do not have to defend the indefensible. Insurance companies are not allowed to drop coverage for people after they become sick, unless the insured misled the company about his true medical condition when applying. For such cases, conservatives have advocated subsidized, uninsurable risk pools providing full safety net coverage so the uninsured who contract costly illnesses such as cancer or heart disease will still have somewhere to go to get essential coverage and care.
Moreover, insurers are supposed to be prohibited from arbitrarily raising rates for those who become sick after coverage as well. Rate increases must apply to everyone in the same original rate class reflecting their health condition when they originally applied, regardless of how sick they subsequently become.
Such regulation is required for health insurance to be real insurance protecting consumers from high health costs when they become sick. To the extent loopholes have developed in this regulation over time, or the regulation is not working, these regulatory requirements can and should be updated and enforced.
Obama's Legacy
President Obama and his lefty Democrat allies expect their new socialized medicine entitlement, once passed, to be permanent, untouchable, and beloved by the public, just like Social Security and Medicare. That is why they are so crazed to get it passed by any means and at any cost. But not living in the real world, they fail to understand that Social Security and Medicare are bankrupt under the government's own numbers, and are about to be fundamentally reformed themselves. It is beyond the power of even the authoritarian government to which the current ruling Democrats aspire to repeal the laws of arithmetic, even though that is the root of their ideology. The Tea Party movement, by contrast, understands all this perfectly well.
As a result, President Obama's legacy will not be permanent socialized medicine as he fancies, but the Tea Party free market reforms his misgovernment and misrule will politically enable.

I'd have to argue the republic fell with FDR. Amongst other abuses:
Article 1: Section 10: "...make any Thing but gold and silver Coin a Tender in Payment of Debts..." but he stole our gold.
Amendment 10: If anything were broad enough to give congress the power to create social security, the most expensive program in the history of the world, would they have bothered with "the power to establish a post office" or "the power to set units of weight and measure"?
And for you liberals, president Bush's power to hold people without trial comes from FDR's treatment of the Japanese during WW2.
Seneca| 3.17.10 @ 7:12PM
Agreed. Where in the Constitution is there a warrant permitting the federal government to require all citizens to "buy" old age insurance? It's not there. However, the perversion of the Constitution that allowed Social Security to start up, as the ultimate Ponzi scheme, has paved the way for ObananaCare.
At least with Social Security what you get out (provided that you retired before the program's insolvency) bear some relation to what you put in. With ObananaCare, the stated objective of the proponents is to have the "filthy rich" pay the freight for the rest of us. Problem A: That's theft. Problem B: There are not enough "filthy rich" to do that.

???? John Brown ????
If memory is serving me well wasn't John Brown an abolitionist lunatic and career terrorist. Did he not massacre anyone who disagreed with him. Didn't he try to start a black slave insurrection by raiding the Harpers Ferry Armory. Apparently the slaves had more sense than to follow this lunatic.
Not the best of role models.
Mark MacInnis| 3.17.10 @ 2:48PM
Actually, John Brown was a passionate, committed man, whose zeal in abolishing slavery lead to the emancipation proclamation. He personally did not kill anyone during the Harper's Ferry raid, indeed, stopped his followers from shooting back at townsfolk who went berserk and killed many of his followers in cold blood. I recently read a well-written and finely researched book on the raid and it's aftermath. If he were alive today, I am convinced he would be a TEA-party member and leading the fight against the tyranny we face today.
Dixie Pixie| 3.17.10 @ 4:36PM
Greetings Mark
I am not trying to debate the events leading up to the “Last Great Unpleasantness”. The term is what my beloved great aunts called the “Civil War”. The events are over 160 years ago and thus a really dead issue.
I am just pointing out John Browns career is viewed in a different light down here in the “Deep South”. View points change depending on which side of the Mason-Dixon line one was born in. Down here John Brown is still viewed as a violent abolitionist lunatic.
The Tea Party movement would do well to avoid John Browns example. To be successful a movement must avoid violent insurrection at all cost. After all the US government has a top of the line military and police forces and spends more on them than the next 5 countries combined. So a John Brown insurrection does not have a chance then or now.
Let me repeat, John Brown is not the best of role models.
Ronald Reagan is a much better role model.

Our only hope at this time is that what I call "normal" Democrats (not leftists) stick to their guns and don't allow Pelosi and her Obama mob to convince them to jump off the cliff with them. I believe there are some Democrats who are finally waking up to see where the country is headed and don't want to go there any more than we do. That, I'm sure, if any have been awakened, has been done by the persistence of the Tea Partiers.

This quote and mistruth jumps out at me. Obama stated this the other day at his last speech on healthcare that employers would be giving raises to employees. It has long been obvious he doesn't know anything about running a business, but this is such a malicious lie in that it promises something from someone else that he cannot deliver. If anything there will be more layoffs and if there are any savings those will be redirected to pay higher taxes and strengthen return on capital It will not be passed on as raises I can assure anyone.

"Normal Democrats".....please, their may be some of the peeps still clinging to the old 1950's Democratic party that helped stitch the American political checks and balances together. The checks and balances that prevented any one political party or ideology from gaining complete power. For the record that political party disappeared from the American scene about the time of Woodstock.
Look what the "normal" Democrats have given the rest of us recently; a US Congress and Senate choked full of far left ideologues or gutless useful idiots, a socialist President hell bent on "changing America", a whore-mongering past president who was about 9/10th crook interested in his own wealth, two full blown liars in a row (Al Gore and John Kerry). Usually, El Presedente' has minions who follow his every word with zeal and ostensibly for the good of the people. In the end El Presedente' cannot help but give into every aspect of absolute power which corrupts absolutely he and all of his pals.
All Marxism debilitates to a state of corruption because it denies two aspects of human yearning:

2. Human-kinds darkest and most perverse lust for power and retribution.

"Bleeding-heart liberal"? Try bleeding-heart tightwads. Enough studies have been done to show when it comes to personal charity it is conservatives who give more money, more time and more blood to worthy, truly compassionate causes (http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2008/03/conservatives_more_liberal_giv.html)
When Dr. Brooks, a liberal Democrat himself, was asked in an interview why he went ahead and published the study though it showed liberal statists in a bad light, he said he had hoped to shame the bleeding-heart tightwad liberals into becoming more compassionate with their own money instead of other people's money.
I contend that it is a reckless if not immoral proposition to empower a rapacious government to levy ever higher level of confiscatory taxes under the pretense of "compassionate government" in order to enlarge the entitlement plantation.
Folks, we're eyeball-to-eyeball with the braindead liberals' attempts at a velvet gulag and it will not stop with the HeathScare obamanation. If the fascists Pelosi and Reid are able to cram this bill down the throats of the majority of American people who oppose this bill (56%) by hook or by crook, they only have themselves to blame for their despotism which may cause a 10 million man (armed?) march on Washington D.C. .
Given the overwhelming opposition to this Democratic powergrab that will federalize one-sixth of the nation's economy (and don't kid yourselves, Democrats' really don't give a tinker's damn about your health or mine since they aren't about to put themselves under the same healthscare system - it's all about power and keeping their base on their voter reservation), freedom loving Americans who have proudly embraced the concept of limited government under a well-ordered constitutional republic WILL BE THOROUGHLY OUTRAGED ... despite the mewlings of "peace, peace" by Obamabots too gutless to unfasten their lips from Obama's backside and getting a good whiff of sobering reality.
Liberal Democrats will only have themselves to blame for WHATEVER backlash may occur as a result of the fascist machinations of the U.S. Congress, the White House, and the national socialist media.

So. You want a one-party system? You should go to North Korea or Cuba. You'd be happier there.

Did anyone actually believe that a perverse, inhumane, totalitarian communist dictatorship would be allowed to thrive just 90 miles off our shores in Cuba, without not only infecting Central and South America with virulent communism? Moreover, did anyone actually believe it wouldn't reach this country? Fidel Castro, and now also Hugo Chavez, have been carrying out a tutorial in totaliarism, which our own resident socialists, as well as the hordes of illegal aliens from all points south have well learned and are now poised to shove down our collective throats, and in doing so will not only remake this country, but in fact destroy any and all vestiges of its democratic republican past, history and traditions. Good luck to us all. Hope and pray it's not too late.

Do any of you worry about what will happen once your real identities become known?
JmsA| 3.18.10 @ 12:15AM
No, I just don't want reactionary leftists (are you one of them?) to pester me were my true identity be known.
JimE| 3.17.10 @ 6:43PM
No, why are you? Feel free to live in fear of offending the teleprompter messiah loser.

THINK! Can anybody offer a reason why they haven't stationed the Nation Guard along the border, especially now with the incessant criminal drug war taking more lives of American citizens? The US Border Patrol has limited personnel and even the border Sheriff’s has limited deputies to keep the national line safe? Every day it gets worse and our government seem almost nonchalant to the battles raging on both sides. The National Guard should be armed and have the right to protect US citizens, who live along the border and terrorized by the criminal as well as illegal aliens crossing their land. My question how come we pour massive resources into Iraq and Afghanistan, when our border remains easy access to anybody?
Returning to E-Verify will be shortly a 99.9 percent effective and we shouldn't listen to Sen. Schumer, Sen. Graham, or others who are blemished, such as Sen. Reid, Majority speaker Reid, Sen. McCain, Dick Armey and a large obnoxious grab-bag of others. Many are now hesitating because they have been caught red-handed, as being the puppets of corporate welfare. Hearth Care reform could be distributed to millions of Americans, if only our legislators denied any government entitlements to (ANCHOR BABIES) with instant citizenship, who are the "Anchor" for the whole family to reside here. New legitimized immigrants could sponsor, millions of direct family members including those who are already medical patients? They will become the American taxpayer’s extra financial baggage.
If you cannot see a silent conspiracy to keep importing desperately poor people, when we should instead demand from Washington only those of superior skills, who will not become a taxpayers extra mouth to feed. The real criminal is the business man, protected by corrupt Washington insiders, who refuse to fully fund such programs as REAL ID ACT, THE SAVE ACT, which contain E-Verify, the local police 287 (g) and the dwindling ICE raids. A 24 hour hot-line should be implemented for law abiding citizens to report irregularities in work and tax records, with perhaps a small reward. Just as the bridge to nowhere, the fence was compromised from the start of construction. Just as the federal government have ignored states, counties and cities that have proclaimed they are refuge for illegal aliens.
Not only are they breaking government law, but as Los Angeles Order 40, has allowed criminal aliens to maim and kill innocent citizens. Even in the rural neighborhoods that once didn't have to lock their doors, find they are no longer defended from foreign nationals who are now a large percentage of cell-block inmates. We have our own citizen habitual criminal population. Why are states like California spending money they don't have on an expanding crime rate from illegal aliens? We can all bury our heads in the sand and listen to the repetitive lies of open border politicians, who have cheated their oath to protect the principles of the US Constitution? It is “THE PEOPLES” obligation and right, to stop this travesty of immigration laws?
Like most ordinary Americans today, I have a mortgage up-in the air, car payment and feeding my family from my pensions. How much money does the IRS take from my family to educate foreign children, incarcerate their parents or all the other welfare programs that are intentionally hidden from US citizens and residents? This is not a multilingual nation; it is a nation under one flag that has flourished through many wars, downturns and the allowance of welcoming--LEGAL--immigration. We do not need millions of illegal immigrants brandishing foreign flags, demanding their rights to stay here in national rallies, when they violated our sovereign laws to begin with?
GET THE MESSAGE OUT. Immediate news: Get ready for the 100.000 illegal immigrant rally to Washington this weekend. WHERE'S ICE?
Like any computer function it takes time to remove the bugs. Nationally known PC products have problems? Even the greatest programs have inconsistencies with new versions appearing as they are revised and upgraded. Same is with E-Verify that is undergoing a continuous revision. I make no excuses that I have bombarded the internet with my blogs. To keep the American people aware that the open border extremists, use there pressures to demonize or at the least compromise E-Verify. Unlike wealthy parasite corporate owners the shrinking middle class doesn't have the resources to fight back against this incredible decades-long sedition. Those who wish to destroy E-Verify use are well financed by a huge compendium of organizations that have many reasons to remove it from immigration enforcement. It’s a repeat performance in announcing that the ordinary people who gain an advantage of making E-Verify as a permanent tool. Do not let these adverse organizations demoralize you. Already Homeland Security is working on the fraudulent ID glitch. Photo identification is being added, with other advanced tools.
It is against dark forces who not only want the free movement of cheap labor settled in America, but they also want the US population to pay for corporate welfare it represents. Corporate welfare being that many of our politicians are complicit in, to keeping the borders open no matter what? If decades of administrations wanted to halt the unceasing invasion of illegal immigrants, why have they not made illegal entry a criminal offense? Why is it not a felony? Illegal immigration would never have grown on this massive scale that is negatively connected with job loss for Americans. Another quest why the preposterous lie that any woman who crosses the border with intent to have their baby here. That was originally meant for the emancipation of the civil war slaves. As yet hasn't been rescinded, but distorted by the Liberal bench? Same with the 1986 Immigration Control and Reform Act that always faltered?
WHY MAKE IT THE LAW OF THE LAND--IF IT’S NOT GOING TO BE FULLY ENFORCED? These are the questions demanding answers from every federal and state representative of the people at 202-224-3121? Have any of us considered, that the US taxpayer would possibly paying less taxes, if states like the SANCTUARY STATE OF CALIFORNIA, NEW YORK were not emptying our pockets with entitlement programs for illegal alien families? Take for instance the document you pass to the immigration/customs agent as a tourist, student or any other visitor. Why bother when there is no way to detect, who has left this nation or have just disappeared into the landscape? Most of the time, the airport staff, ferry, passenger forget to ask or don't even care? You will only find these answers at NUMBERSUSA, JUDICIAL WATCH or by surfing the Internet?
There is not enough room in this commentary to list the benefits to illegal aliens, including the child income tax reimbursement? Just ask Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich of Los Angeles, who according to him $50 million in welfare benefits (CALWORKS + Food Stamp’s) for the month of January 2010 alone. Yes! And that just the very tip of the financial iceberg, extracted from your income. Hundreds of pro-sovereignty groups will relay the information, of the billions of dollars given to illegal immigrant families. Now they want to further the outrage, by giving millions of illegal families a free ride to citizenship? Should a new amnesty past, what makes you think that future administrations will hold back the next tidal wave of people? How much more money do you think this Amnesty or following waves of illegal immigration will cost you?
