The president's performance has been upgraded to "phenomenal."
Speaking to the Democratic National Committee last Saturday,
Barack Obama cast himself as a victim of the American people's
"frustration" rather than a cause of it. He suggested that his
sagging poll numbers reflect an amorphous moodiness, not
discontent with his policies.
This epiphany came through his wife, "always a good
barometer," who informed him that the American people are too
sour these days to take calls from pollsters happily: "she said,
you know, listen, if you're the average family, if I'm a mom out
there and I'm working and my husband is working but we're worried
about losing our jobs, our hours have been cut back, the cost of
our health care premium just went up 30 percent, the credit card
company just jacked up our interest rates 39 percent, and our
home value has gone down by $100,000, our 401(k) is all banged up
-- and suddenly somebody calls up and says, so, how do you think
President Obama is doing right now? What are they going to say?
What are they going to say?"
He said the American people have "every right" to be
frustrated. But not with him. What was meant to sound
self-effacing quickly became self-justifying. And insulting: he
is in effect accusing the American people of unjustly taking
their anger out on him.
First, White House aides implied that the frustration of
the American people was due to dimness: Obama's arguments are too
complex and nuanced for their appreciation. Now the line is that
pollsters are catching them at a bad time.
Michelle Obama offered another barometer reading to her
husband this week, declaring in an ABC interview that he had
performed "a phenomenal job" during his first year. The only
positive jobs report that comes out of the Obama White House
regards his own, and appears to get upgraded with each passing
week: from a "solid B plus" to "really good" to
"phenomenal."
The country was on the "brink" of depression, Michelle
Obama explained, and Barack pulled it back. Apparently so much so
that she can now turn her attention to a problem of plenty, not
privation -- "childhood obesity." While other countries on the
brink face famine, Obama's America stares down junk food.
Another pressing matter before the nation this week was the
repeal of the Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy. Repealing it is a
"matter of integrity," said Obama's generals, as Democrats who
voted for that policy nodded. Liberalism never fails to build
upon its own failures: so the "dishonesty" that came with Clinton
opening the door a crack becomes the rationale for kicking it
clean off.
Frustrated Americans clinging to their God and guns may not
grasp the complexity of these avant-garde arguments. But in time,
if they listen carefully enough to Obama's words, they will come
around and see that a Justice Department run by the ACLU and a
military infiltrated by ACT UP will keep them safe.
No claim is too fanciful for the Obama administration not
to try and float at least once: whether it is saying that "green
jobs" will save the economy, abolishing Don't Ask, Don't Tell
will strengthen the military, or giving a jury trial to the 9/11
mastermind will boost American morale.
Let's just say it and see what happens, appears to be the
attitude. The backlash on the last claim was strong enough that
the White House withdrew it, but this week they tried a new tack:
those who question Mirandizing terrorists are "serving the goals
of Al Qaeda," said John Brennan. The Obama administration would
rather not waste time on these "critics."
As Obama said in his DNC speech, Democrats "speak to the
hopes of the American people instead of their fears." To parents
more worried about feeding their children than making them fat,
Democrats offer the hope of a campaign against childhood obesity;
to out-of-work coal miners, they offer wind farm jobs of the
future; to rattled Americans still reeling from a botched bombing
over Detroit, they offer a more progressive military. And while
Obama may have cost thousands of Americans their jobs by sending
anti-business signals for a year, the unemployed can draw
inspiration from his "phenomenal" one.

Michelle and Barack Obama are two people who are experts at hate
and hate for America and, in effect, a peculiar sort of hate for
the American public as evidenced by their recorded history and
statements.
During the campaign Michelle pronounced her pride in America in a
negative manner stating, "For the First Time in My Adult
Lifetime, I'm Really Proud of My Country" That's because the
country was doing what she wanted, participating in an
ideological movement.
Barack Obama appears to share her sentiments to a degree when he
pronounced and dismissed Americans as bitter: "And it’s not
surprising, then, they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion
or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant
sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their
frustrations.”
The Obamas were weaned in Jeremiah Wrights church of Hell and
hate for America, and in particular, white America so the actions
of the government under his purview in relation to the Black
Panthers are no surprise.
They are probably being hailed as new age heros in the halls of
the Justice Department, under the former lobbyist Eric Holder.

WRTolkas has drawn a more accurate parallel than most of us want
to admit. Having just read through William Shirer's The Rise and
Fall of the Third Reich, I observed many features of Hitler's
strategies that parallel what we've observed in the One's public
pronouncements and strategies of the last couple of years or so.
As case in point, Hitler delivered many "moderate" and
"reasonable" speeches conveying that Germany wished only peace
and rejoining the family of nations as an equal. But he was
shortly to enter the Rhineland and the rest, as we say, is
history. Hitler was a masterful politician who was viewed as a
Messiah by many. Hmmm, where have we heard that before? I'm just
sayin'...
Sammy Maudlin| 2.11.10 @ 9:30AM
Having also read Shirer's outstanding book, I could not agree
more with you. History holds many valuable lessons, all of which
are ignored by pseudo-intellectuals such as Barach Hussein Obama.
Shirer's book should be mandatory reading at the high school
level...

Tolkas, Bishop, Sammy, and Al,
I concur with all of you wholeheartedly. I did not read Shirer's
book, but I have done reseach on the Third Reich in my studies on
The Holocaust. Not only is BO like Hitler in the speeches they
made (all symbolism, no substance), the emotional zealotry of
thier followers (women feighnting at events), and attempting to
control the media.
My biggest concern is the visual imagry that both of them use(d).
The recruitment of artists to portray their ideas as grand
endeavors, the school children that sing songs in praise of him,
and BO's biggest was the acceptance speech at Mile High stadium.
It reminded me of the rally at Nurenburg and the columns of
light. Geez... It gives me the creeps just thinking about
it.
Keep up the independent thought and critical thinking that make
this country great.

Orator, messenger of hope, opportunist (crisis management or

of their own ability to synthesize information can see where he's

Like others here, I like history, and find parallels to other
episodes of the past. What I fail to understand is how the press

cannot do anything alone, he needs obedient servants, which he is

Another upcoming historical event will be the approach to

upset. The country started collapsing around them the a few years
back into the total mess it has become and, in the 13 1/2 months
since Obama has been in office, it's not "fixed" yet. Everyone
slams Obama for at least TRYING to do something---when he is up
against incredible adversity. Do you really think McCain/Palin
would have been a better choice? Do you really think re-electing
Bush four years ago was a good idea? How I ever stumbled into
this scary wonderland of blantant Republican closed-mindedness,
finger pointing and hate is beyond me. Wake up, people. He's

MikeD| 2.11.10 @ 3:51PM
Where to begin... First, I don't see how you could have just
'stumbled upon this site.' Although you may be surprised, there
are lots of us that go here intentionally to express our opinions
and swap ideas; which is the LAST thing obama and his 'willing
lackies' in the media want. (Chris Matthews: "Tingle down my
leg!" Give me a break!) Frankly, most of the reason we're in this
mess is that the media, in their emotional stupidity, fell in
love with obama because he said what they think! They never asked
any hard questions.
I was also surprised that none of the 'esteemed' morons in the
media ever questioned why the democraps cheated so much,
particularly in Minnesota, to steal that coveted 60th seat in the
Senate. The dems have proven that they'll do ANYTHING to get
their way; they don't care if their demented plans destroy the
Country. Most of those who voted for obama voted because they
were:
1. Stupid!
2. 'Guilted' into it by being told that voting against the
'messiah' was RACIST!
3. Union fools who were told to do it by their union
steward.
4. White liberal white men who are the most pathetic group of
all...they're so easily guilted, especially academics who
routinely prove they know nothing of any value.
5. The kids who thought it was 'cool' to get the first 'black'
prez and got to 'tweak' their elder's collective noses at the
same time.
6. All those who get benefits from the government and contribute
nothing.
We can quite clearly think for ourselves. We're not swayed by the
nattering nabobs of the narcissistic media. We actually
understand the Constitution and are not easily 'guilted' or
intimidated by people like you who prove how little they know
every time they open their mouths!
Obama is not 'flawed'. He is a dangerous socialist beholding to
George Soros and his merry band of anti American investors who
want to drive us into the ground so they can buy up the pieces
cheap. Check out George Soros and the Bank of England and the
English Pound on Google sometime. You might learn something.
We're also all waiting to see obama's transcripts. If George Bush
was so dumb, why won't obama release ANYTHING about his history?
Were his grades THAT terrible? (I'm not even mentioning his legal
documents and credentials which he also refuses to release; and
has spennt almost $2 million to keep secret. Did you ever wonder
why?)
Then, of course, where did the $630 MILLION come from that
elected obama? He won't account for more than $300 million of it
that came from overseas. Why not? What is he hiding? Obama was
the guy who screamed the most when G.W. Bush spent $250 million
on his election. Obama spent almost three times and will not
reveal its sources. Why? So many questions; so little time.

Michelle and Barack Obama are two people who are experts at hate and hate for America and, in effect, a peculiar sort of hate for the American public as evidenced by their recorded history and statements.
During the campaign Michelle pronounced her pride in America in a negative manner stating, "For the First Time in My Adult Lifetime, I'm Really Proud of My Country" That's because the country was doing what she wanted, participating in an ideological movement.
Barack Obama appears to share her sentiments to a degree when he pronounced and dismissed Americans as bitter: "And it’s not surprising, then, they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.”
The Obamas were weaned in Jeremiah Wrights church of Hell and hate for America, and in particular, white America so the actions of the government under his purview in relation to the Black Panthers are no surprise.
They are probably being hailed as new age heros in the halls of the Justice Department, under the former lobbyist Eric Holder.

WRTolkas has drawn a more accurate parallel than most of us want to admit. Having just read through William Shirer's The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich, I observed many features of Hitler's strategies that parallel what we've observed in the One's public pronouncements and strategies of the last couple of years or so. As case in point, Hitler delivered many "moderate" and "reasonable" speeches conveying that Germany wished only peace and rejoining the family of nations as an equal. But he was shortly to enter the Rhineland and the rest, as we say, is history. Hitler was a masterful politician who was viewed as a Messiah by many. Hmmm, where have we heard that before? I'm just sayin'...
Sammy Maudlin| 2.11.10 @ 9:30AM
Having also read Shirer's outstanding book, I could not agree more with you. History holds many valuable lessons, all of which are ignored by pseudo-intellectuals such as Barach Hussein Obama. Shirer's book should be mandatory reading at the high school level...

Simply put gentlemen, Beware the man on the white horse. We follow "Leaders" at our peril. Either we are a self governing nation of citizens or we become the servents of the ruling class. Let us hope there is still time to choose.
wolfgang59| 2.11.10 @ 4:47PM
Tolkas, Bishop, Sammy, and Al,
I concur with all of you wholeheartedly. I did not read Shirer's book, but I have done reseach on the Third Reich in my studies on The Holocaust. Not only is BO like Hitler in the speeches they made (all symbolism, no substance), the emotional zealotry of thier followers (women feighnting at events), and attempting to control the media.
My biggest concern is the visual imagry that both of them use(d). The recruitment of artists to portray their ideas as grand endeavors, the school children that sing songs in praise of him, and BO's biggest was the acceptance speech at Mile High stadium. It reminded me of the rally at Nurenburg and the columns of light. Geez... It gives me the creeps just thinking about it.
Keep up the independent thought and critical thinking that make this country great.

The fellow that O. most reminds me of is the last guy to be on the recieving end of a "Tea Party". That would be George III, who is reported to have refered to the colonists as "My deluded people." See, O. thinks we are the ones who don't get it, because we have been led astray by malicious demagouges. His motives are pure, so what is our problem? Another quote from Geo. Rex: "I only wish for the good, so those who oppose me are traitors and scoundrels."
busbus| 2.11.10 @ 6:37PM
Ironically, my view is the opposite of those who have already replied. In my opinion, it is not Barack Obama or Michelle Obama but a combination of folks: Sarah Palin, Michele Bachmann, Mr. Tancredo, Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, Mr. Armey, Newt Gingrich, etal. These are the folks that bear watching. These folks have delusional followers! But again, it could be that they and all of you wish to devoid freedom of religion in America and reinstitute McCarthyism and Jim Crow laws in America. These folks are playing the game of "Divide and Conquer." Watch out! All of you might turn around and see no one left behind you just as happened in Germany.

Orator, messenger of hope, opportunist (crisis management or manufacturer). A lot of those still independent enough and sure of their own ability to synthesize information can see where he's going.
Like others here, I like history, and find parallels to other episodes of the past. What I fail to understand is how the press allows him to get away with comments like "borrowing to increase payroll" can be considered a responsible business postition. He cannot do anything alone, he needs obedient servants, which he is starting to lose.
Another upcoming historical event will be the approach to immigration. The failure to make immigrants assimilate including using English, understanding republican government, a nation of laws, is divisive. Most foreigners who chose to move here are coming of free will because they want to join America, her values and visions.

In one small aspect, she is correct----Americans' anger/frustration goes back many years, and has been building in intensity through several administrations; although it has now exploded due to the absuridity and corruption of the present administation's policies and paractices. The one and only resolution possible to solve/heal American's dissatisfactions is through the vote; and hopefully, the results of NJ, Vaginia, and Massachusetts are just a small indication of what is to come in November of 2010 and beyond. I stumbled upon this link quite by accident. Yes, Americans are upset. The country started collapsing around them the a few years back into the total mess it has become and, in the 13 1/2 months since Obama has been in office, it's not "fixed" yet. Everyone slams Obama for at least TRYING to do something---when he is up against incredible adversity. Do you really think McCain/Palin would have been a better choice? Do you really think re-electing Bush four years ago was a good idea? How I ever stumbled into this scary wonderland of blantant Republican closed-mindedness, finger pointing and hate is beyond me. Wake up, people. He's flawed, but he is actually trying to accomplish something. He's trying to clean up a mess he did NOT create. Cut him some slack. Pay attention to what is going on in this country instead of relying on slanted views that Fox "News" and people like Rush Limbaugh readily dishout. THINK for yourselves.

MikeD| 2.11.10 @ 3:51PM
Where to begin... First, I don't see how you could have just 'stumbled upon this site.' Although you may be surprised, there are lots of us that go here intentionally to express our opinions and swap ideas; which is the LAST thing obama and his 'willing lackies' in the media want. (Chris Matthews: "Tingle down my leg!" Give me a break!) Frankly, most of the reason we're in this mess is that the media, in their emotional stupidity, fell in love with obama because he said what they think! They never asked any hard questions.
I was also surprised that none of the 'esteemed' morons in the media ever questioned why the democraps cheated so much, particularly in Minnesota, to steal that coveted 60th seat in the Senate. The dems have proven that they'll do ANYTHING to get their way; they don't care if their demented plans destroy the Country. Most of those who voted for obama voted because they were:
1. Stupid!
2. 'Guilted' into it by being told that voting against the 'messiah' was RACIST!
3. Union fools who were told to do it by their union steward.
4. White liberal white men who are the most pathetic group of all...they're so easily guilted, especially academics who routinely prove they know nothing of any value.
5. The kids who thought it was 'cool' to get the first 'black' prez and got to 'tweak' their elder's collective noses at the same time.
6. All those who get benefits from the government and contribute nothing.
We can quite clearly think for ourselves. We're not swayed by the nattering nabobs of the narcissistic media. We actually understand the Constitution and are not easily 'guilted' or intimidated by people like you who prove how little they know every time they open their mouths!
Obama is not 'flawed'. He is a dangerous socialist beholding to George Soros and his merry band of anti American investors who want to drive us into the ground so they can buy up the pieces cheap. Check out George Soros and the Bank of England and the English Pound on Google sometime. You might learn something. We're also all waiting to see obama's transcripts. If George Bush was so dumb, why won't obama release ANYTHING about his history? Were his grades THAT terrible? (I'm not even mentioning his legal documents and credentials which he also refuses to release; and has spennt almost $2 million to keep secret. Did you ever wonder why?)
Then, of course, where did the $630 MILLION come from that elected obama? He won't account for more than $300 million of it that came from overseas. Why not? What is he hiding? Obama was the guy who screamed the most when G.W. Bush spent $250 million on his election. Obama spent almost three times and will not reveal its sources. Why? So many questions; so little time.
njre| 2.11.10 @ 4:24PM

We see through the empty suits that are the Obamas with our eyes wide open. We really feel sorry for you that you can't take your blinders off .
McCain would have meant trillions of dollars less in spending and deficits, much stronger national defense/security, many more people employed, much better economy now, no stupid healthcare deform and cap and tax, and less threats from corrupt labor unions and ACORN and commies/marxists!........

Dear OMG,
Firstly, I do not listen to Rush nor Fox news; secondly I am not a Republican; thirdly I didn't and still don't like McCain nor most of the members of the Congress.
I think Obama and the democrats are dangerous. I study control-loop systems in circuit stability. This system, this government, has too many poles on the right side of the S-plane. Non-electronic speak: the system is unstable and out of control. MORE POWER just makes the situation worse. I hope that dampening the system will occur this November.

If Obama doesn't like cleaning up a mess he never created he should have stayed in Chicago. When you volunteer to do a job, which he did, and you tell everybody how clever you are, which he loves doing, it means that the mess is yours, it no longer belongs to the previous owner. Obama is an ultralight, a whiner, a fool and a coward. He should take Harry Truman's advice - if you don't like the heat then get out of the kitchen.
stmichrick| 2.11.10 @ 2:33PM
Mr. Neumayr correctly describes the particularly high-toned shade of BS that oozes from this administration. Obama and comrades are doing a fine job of spoon feeding the base; you know, those that think that He represents a new level of insight into economics, world affairs and justice.
Fortunately for Him, the Old Media and popular culture have done an effective advance job (with little push-back) by portraying Bush and Cheyney as stupid and sub-human. For the shallow Left, hearing the issues of the day described by the administration in globalist, morally neutral verbiage comes off as novel and brilliant.
Thank modern education for not effectively teaching the history of the twentieth century and creating an electorate of saps.

Obama has everything ass-backwards. He is copying Franklin Roosevelt, who made the Depression last a decade by increasing taxes, expanding government, and waging war against private enterprise. Well, why not? If Americans are such a bunch of dim witted lame brains they should blame the liberal public education system. They’re just so under educated that they’ll never understand the Pretender n Chief because he’s so smart. That’s why he has to use a prompter. It helps him put his cerebral complex ideas in simple terms, after all, he is so smart his intelligence IQ is only superseded by the budget deficit. His argument that “its all Bush’s fault” is just too fact filled for country corn mush pone fed rubes to understand. Gets them every time. And that tingly feeling running up and down the legs of the masses has paralyzed their thinking process, much like electro-shock treatment for the insane.
