The Nation's Pulse

Pro-Choice Anti-Choicers

They're pro-choice -- except for Pam Tebow's choice.

It's a case study in the conundrum of liberal ideology: radical feminist groups declaring that a woman's choice to not have an abortion is, somehow, anti-choice.

The far left Women's Media Center put out a press release last week doing just that. The group ripped CBS for accepting a 30-second ad during the Super Bowl featuring college football star Tim Tebow and his mother, Pam.

The ad, sponsored by the Christian group Focus on the Family, draws attention to Pam's decision to bring her pregnancy to term despite health complications that threatened her life.

Millions of viewers will find that pro-family message a welcome relief from the typical raunchy fare aired during the nation's top sporting event. But feminists, apparently, don't appreciate the break from racy beer commercials. In fact, they're enraged by it.

"An ad that uses sports to divide rather than to unite has no place in the biggest national sports event of the year," Jemhu Greene, president of WMC, told the Associated Press.

Given the rhetorical firestorm, you'd think Tebow and his mom were using the ad to encourage Congress to enact the national "Keep Women Barefoot and in the Kitchen Act of 2010." Instead, Pam will explain her decision to have Tim despite doctors' advice to the contrary.

Far from pushing legislation or a political agenda, the Tebows will share their story about choice -- the choice to respect the sanctity of unborn human life. Feminists think it's more offensive than ads objectifying the female body or adulterer politicians (John Edwards and Bill Clinton, I'm looking at you).

Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of the pro-life Susan B. Anthony List, makes the valid point that feminists' worst-case scenario for the ad is that women "are exposed to an example of sacrifice for the sake of an unborn child."

Shocking, I know, especially when viewers could be watching naked women in the shower or a woman exposing her endowments during a congressional hearing.

It's a wonder anyone takes feminists seriously when their hypocrisy is so manifold. The duplicity is comparable to African Americans like Al Sharpton giving rich liberal white guys -- Chris "shiver-my-leg" Matthews being one -- a pass when they make racist remarks, but nailing conservatives to the wall for out-of-text comments that aren't remotely racist.

While the deceit is obvious, it isn't surprising. Abortion advocates have foisted the same nonsense for decades. And the illogic escapes the lion's share of mainstream media pundits.

Consider that abortion advocates claim to support a woman's right to make choices about her own body. To them, a child remains part of his or her mother until an undefined number of days, weeks, months, or years after birth. Until that magical -- and unknown -- point when human life begins, the child is just a product of conception. And until that point, the law should allow a woman to make whatever choice she deems right.

But while they're quick to applaud a woman's choice to abort her baby -- "I Had an Abortion" t-shirts, for example -- they seldom encourage the opposite decision and never celebrate it. The truth is in the numbers: for every adoption referral Planned Parenthood made in 2007, it conducted 62 abortions.

What's particularly stoking liberals' fear this time is that they can feel the abortion cause slipping through their fingers. More Democrats are soft-peddling the issue and more Americans becoming pro-life. The prospect of a powerful pro-life ad during the No. 1 television event of the year has them in a tizzy.

They have good reason to be afraid. They have an ally in Barack Obama, but after making lofty promises during the campaign to shore up his base, he's pussyfooting around. Democrats have huge majorities in both chambers of Congress, but they aren't acting, either.

pan>Worse for lefties, for the first time in decades, there's serious talk the Supreme Court could reverse Roe v. Wade. And the electoral purge that's in the works for November will set back the pro-abortion agenda even more.

The Tebow ad is just another crack in a ship that's headed for the bottom of the political and cultural ocean -- and sooner rather than later.

Yep, they are all for choice as long as you choose what THEY want -- a cadre of spoiled brats kicking and screaming because Mommy said No. An odd response from those who described the conservatives who spoke up in Town Hall Meetings as terrorists.

P.S. *More Democrats are soft-peddling the issue * is incorrect. They are soft PEDALING the issue.

jeff| 2.1.10 @ 8:37PM

are you being funny? it IS soft-peddling. how would you soft-pedal?

Peter B. Nelson| 2.2.10 @ 1:45PM

This is a rabbit hole, but... soft-pedal is a piano metaphor.

Main Entry: soft–ped·al
Pronunciation: \ˈsȯf(t)-ˈpe-dəl\
Function: transitive verb
Date: 1925

1 : play down, de-emphasize
2 : to use the soft pedal in playing

Bill Hussein O'Stalin| 2.1.10 @ 6:27AM

If the medical holocaust crowd doesn't like the ad, then they should run an ad with opposing views. It's amazing how liberals, collectivists and statists can't stand the thought of the public receiving information that they don't agree with.

republicanblack| 2.1.10 @ 3:38PM

As I have stated before if you believe that life begins at conception, then it is an individual. Now that is established, ask yourself the question, what rights does a person on life support (newborn, old person, accident victim etc. ) have, absent a living will or expressed desire, that a fetus does not have in deciding if that individual should remain or the plug should be pulled? And as I have posted before this is the most comprehensive argument for choice I have seen that respects faith and family. Though I am pro-life it is hard to argue against this.

http://keironjackman.wordpress.....-politics/

RogerCfromSD| 2.1.10 @ 5:17PM

Your comparison isn't applicable.

An adult has had the opportunity to create a living will. Most don't avail themselves of this personal responsibility.

A fetus/unborn child is reliant on its mother a father to protect, feed, and love it. It has no ability on its own to speak for itself.

Therefore it is the mother's responsibility to do all she can to act on the child's behalf.

Nobama| 2.2.10 @ 5:18AM

You're not a republican, repblack, but you are an idiot.

KyMouse| 2.2.10 @ 4:35PM

Republicanblack, you say "if you believe that life begins at conception..." Science settled that question long ago. For example, I have a 1988 edition of "The Developing Human: Clinically Oriented Embryology," which was written for medical (not seminary) students.

On its very first page of text, it states, "Human development is a continuous process that begins when an ovum from a female is fertilized by a sperm from a male...A zygote is the beginning of a new human being."

Concerning your point about "rights," I'm sick of talking about rights. How about talking about responsibilities for a change? Every mother's responsibility to care for and nurture her child (and if she can't or won't, to place that child with an adoptive family)? Every father's responsibility to care for and support his baby and the mother of his baby?

Responsibilities are just as important as rights.

Lauren| 2.3.10 @ 12:53AM

What if the mother can't afford to take time off of work or pay for the prenatal care that goes into a pregnancy?

KyMouse| 2.3.10 @ 9:01AM

Lauren, there are thousands of pregnancy resource centers, churches and agencies who can help her. Killing her baby is not the answer.

Simpleton| 2.5.10 @ 7:24PM

a. She is not talking about killing a baby, she's talking about aborting a fetus
b. You did not answer her question.

Missy| 2.8.10 @ 4:59AM

What's the difference, Simple?

stanley| 2.5.10 @ 10:57AM

If you can not take the time off from work it's simple, "DO NOT GET PREGNANT".

ZJC86| 2.5.10 @ 12:54PM

Not just "DON'T GET PREGNANT", "DON"T HAVE SEX IF YOU CAN'T DEAL WITH THE END RESULT".

Simpleton| 2.5.10 @ 7:25PM

Not getting pregnant is applicable if you are not pregnant already.

Of course it is "simple", but it is not an answer

Missy| 2.8.10 @ 5:00AM

The 'answer' is life. Choose it!

Carolyn| 2.9.10 @ 6:34PM

Well, Lauren, since the lady failed to keep her legs closed, does not mean that an innocent life should have to suffer. Who cares if she misses work or anything else. When she becomes pregnant, she has the responsibility to do the right thing. Give birth to the child, then if she really does not want it , give it up for adoption and to someone who will really love it.
Abortions literally tortures a baby, especialy those who attempt a partial birth abortion. A living human has to be murdered before it is aborted. Read "Lime 5" It will turn your stomach, as well, as maybe waking you up to reality. The doctors who perform abortions are really some very messed up people.

RoseGrower| 2.5.10 @ 1:31PM

I have to agree that responsibility is just as important as rights, and that is really the crux of the abortion issue. Reproductive technology is now so sophisticated that any woman who doesn't want children can live a child-free life with minimal effort. The pill, IUDs, long-term subcutaneous birth control and tubal ligation are easily implemented and easily reversed, and it is up to the WOMAN to take responsibility for utilizing any of these methods. It must be a downer for feminists that men and women expect them to be able to think and make rational decisions!

mlizzy| 2.5.10 @ 10:50AM

It's dead wrong to take the life of another human being through abortion. It's really that simple. (And I wouldn't pull the plug on grandma either.)

Missy| 2.8.10 @ 5:01AM

Great post! Choose life, you can't go wrong.

JIM| 2.5.10 @ 12:44PM

For the ones who beleave in abortion. May be your mother should have had it before you.

Stephanie| 2.1.10 @ 6:38AM

Of course the "women's groups" are in a tizzy.
The abortion industry is a huge money making business. And it's NOTHING about "choice". It's about capitol. MAKING MONEY!
And the hipocracy is stunning. I remember when the boy president Slick Willy was being impeached, wondering, where is NOW to stand up for Monica? Sexual harrassment in the workplace perhaps? If it had been a republican in the oval office, they would have been on him like flies on something out of the back of my horse!

Dennis Bergendorf| 2.1.10 @ 7:37AM

Lynn Johnston, the cartoonist who did the wildly popular "For Better or Worse" strip, faced a challenge midway through the comic's run. She had chosen a chronological format (having the family's two kids grow up in real time). But that tended to limit story lines, and Johnston felt a new child would offer more possibilities. So she had the mother, Ellie (then in her mid-30s), become pregnant.

Of course, "Ellie" stewed about the development, but ultimately chose to have the baby (a girl named April).

Johnston was quoted as saying she was stunned to receive over 500 letters, and nearly all were from feminists who were outraged over the decision not to "terminate." Bass is right. It's choice only if it's abortion.

orangemtl| 2.1.10 @ 7:45AM

"No, no: you don't understand: Prochoice means that we support the right to choose FOR you, and for you to submit. Remember, we're the highly educated intelligentsia, and you are---well, just a bunch of backward flyovers clinging to your guns and religion."

Dean| 2.1.10 @ 8:27AM

What's interesting about the uproar of the Tebow ad is not only the choice issue, but also the free speech issue. Not only do liberals only allow for one choice, they also only allow for one type of speech--that with which they agree.

"Serious talk the SC could reverse Roe vs. Wade"? When's that going to happen? After Obama has put 2-3 more 45 year old pro-aborts on the court for the next 30 years?

We blew it. If a Republican - didn't have to be too conservative, just as conservative as George W Bush for Pete's sake - had been elected in 2008, then we'd have another Alito instead of Sotomayor, and THEN there'd be such "serious talk".

Now - who knows? Given the jelly spines of Republicans, I would estimate it will take 12 years of Republican administrations just to undo the damage that 8 years of Obama do. So in 2028, we MIGHT be back where we were in 2008.

But then again - who knows? Maybe Kennedy or even Sotomayor will someday actually see an ultrasound. Forget Ginsberg("less people we didn't want to have too many of"), Stevens("Christians are always wrong") and Breyer.

JinOhio| 2.1.10 @ 6:10PM

Isn't it possible that all of the appointments of Obama are not lawful, considering he is not a natural-born-citizen as required by Article II, Section 1, clause 5, of the Constitution?

If that is proven through the quo warranto process in the DC court then Sotomayor's position on the SC may be called into question.

Plus, I truly don't see Obama serving for another 4 years after his 1st term. Too many American's are awake and involved. We The People now know what is truly happening and you can bet your bottom dollar, we aren't going back to sleep now or never!

I have been a football fan my entire life. I played and coached at the youth, high school and collegiate level(Div.II). I supported the Chicago Cardinals (sigh) from the very early days of my childhood.
Having said that I have boycotted the NFL since Rush Limbaugh was denied a very small ownership percentage while at the same time a platform is given to the consumate lefty, jock sniffer, Keith Olberman and criminals such as Ray Lewis and Michael Vick play. If I knew when Tebow's ad was going to air I would turn on the Super Bowl just to watch it. My Super Bowl viewing which began with number one ends this year.

I believe I heard a spokes person for Focus On the Family say that the Tebow ad would run during the first quarter of the game. I'm planning on tuning into the game for this ad alone. Also, I believe she mentioned a short spot during the pre-game.

Congratulations on a well written article! I certainly will use your statement: "Pro-choice anti-choicers" more often. May I add, the real "prochoice" people are people in the prolife movement! Planned Parenthood is NOT PRO-CHOICE unless of course you choose contraception or abortion, the latter, preferred and more profitable. I salute and pray for Mr. Tebow, his family and his church!

…Bottom line: if a woman is pregnant and doesn’t choose abortion, that is hateful. Only when she chooses abortion is she fully exercising her “right to choose.” As David Bass says over at The American Spectator about these so called women’s rights groups: “ But while they’re quick to applaud a woman’s choice to abort her baby — “I Had an Abortion” t-shirts, for example…

Doktor Riktor Von Zhades| 2.1.10 @ 11:40AM

A couple of thoughts on the above article.

1) I just wonder how many "counselors" at places such as Planned Parenthood, have actually suggested to a young woman to carry the child to term and place it up for adoption. More often than not it is my belief, and no I cannot prove it, hence it is my belief, that they just suggest, kill it and be done with it.

2) According to Jeanne Monahan of Family values;
"... almost $350 million of American taxpayer dollars supported the work of Planned Parenthood from October 2007 to September 2008. And, according to tax records from the same time period, this 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization had a net income $85 million greater than its expenses. That looks suspiciously like a profit.... "
BTW, that works out to about $1.25/person in the US. However of course it is more per person when you factor in that not EVERYONE pays taxes.

Holly| 2.5.10 @ 12:33PM

A representative from a pregnancy resource center came to our church to speak and she said that over 80% of the women that come into the center specifically searching for an abortion, when they get all the facts and given an ultrasound to see for themselves that their baby is not a blob of tissue, over 80% of them choose life. This is why pro-abortion groups are so adimit about keeping the pro-life cause quiet. It cuts into their business in a major way.

Carolyn| 2.9.10 @ 6:51PM

You would think with that kind of profit planned parenthood would want to keep some of those babies for future profits.
We are a throwaway society. Not only do we throw our no longer wanted things away. We throw humans away. Too much evil has become in charge of life on this planet. Evil has always been with us, it just seems to be taking the lead over good. How many truly good potential humans have been aborted??

The " industry " side of the abortion argument is so often ignored. After George Tiller's murder, there was some discussion as to Tiller's wealth from a career performing late term abortions. I am not condoning Tiller's murder in any way. The calculations I saw showed that even at modest reimbursement levels and relatively high staff and office expenses, it is likely the doctor netted many millions of dollars over his career from performing late term abortions.

Maybe the relentless push by some abortion rights advocates is really an attempt to eliminate the " blood money " aspect of abortion by making it completely publicly funded as if it were some sort of a community service.

NavyBrat| 2.1.10 @ 1:08PM

I feel completely comfortable, as a die hard UT Vols fan, in saying that Tebow is the best college player EVER to on a pair of cleats. Yes, even better than Manning when he was at Tennessee.

The eugenecists would have people believe that they are for "choice." With their senseless opposition to this ad, they've proven that the only "choice" they are advocating is the choice of abortion. Yes, how very "devisive" that someone might see this ad & stop for a minute & think, "wow, I better think twice about what I'm about to do." This message flies in the face of the argument the eugenecists make. How many other Tebows, JD Salangers, Michael Jordans, or Beethovens have been aborted in this country. To place this thought in the public mindset is DISASTEROUS for the culture of death. Because it will open even MORE eyes to the inherent WRONG of "abortion on demand."

Bob| 2.1.10 @ 2:32PM

As most of you know, I'm as pro-choice and libertarian as they come when it comes to abortion and gay marriage. But this ad actually strengthens the choice issue and I support it strongly. Whether you are anti-abortion (you guys are really NOT pro-life or you'd be against wars as well), or pro-choice like me, you want to reduce the number of abortions. Tebow is an excellent example of a young man who thinks before he copulates and if he convinces someone else to do the same BEFORE they become pregnant, that's great.

There is a controversy, here, however. I've heard that Tebow's mom could not have received an abortion in the Philippines in any event because it was illegal -- so it was not really a "choice". Even if that's true, I believe it is a positive attribute for one to "choose" not to have an abortion and that should be promoted.

Jeremiah| 2.1.10 @ 3:13PM

Gosh, Bob, I know it is difficult for leftists to get nuanced concepts. It would be difficult for pro-lifers to be pro-life and for instigating wars of senseless aggression. It is perfectly compatible - and actually preferable - for pro-lifers to be for going to war to preserve freedom and defeat tyrants. In the 30's all the peace movement in Europe was for appeasing Hitler (at least for as long as he wasn't coming for them). That dirty, old warmonger Winston Churchill hollered for almost a decade that freedom, itself, was at stake and that the free powers must confront and defeat Hitler. Churchill was hated for this - and denounced by peace movement types such as you. If the free countries had acted with vigor in the mid-30s it probably would have cost over 100,000 lives. But they waited until it was clear the monster was coming for them. And some 18 million lives paid the price for the peace movement's silly sophistry. So who, exactly, is pro-life in this scenario.

Shoot, though I generally oppose the death penalty, one can quite consistently be pro-life and pro-death penalty. See, in the nuanced thought of conservatives, we differentiate between the innocent and the guilty. The notion that we must spare the innocent and, in some cases, execute the guilty is logically coherent. You leftists' notion that we must spare the guilty and execute the innocent is a wild contradiction.

Keep reading the Spectator though. We may just l'arn you yet.

Bob| 2.1.10 @ 3:30PM

So, Jeremiah, can you be "pro-life" and support the dropping of atomic bombs on Japan? "Nuanced" is just another word wishy-washy.

By the way, I have no problem with dropping atomic bombs or the war in Vietnam. In fact, I enlisted to fight in Vietnam because I believed communism was a threat. The problem with you God types is that you can't believe there are patriotic people like me who actually fought for this country that can be pro-choice and not peaceniks. I fought so you and and I could live in a country with true liberty and you "mythical creature in the sky" types would no legislate your religion on me. You social conservatives don't really believe in liberty, do you????

Missy| 2.8.10 @ 5:05AM

But, Bob--what about the liberty of the unborn? You always conveniently ignore that detail.

Right to life is primary.

Carolyn | 2.9.10 @ 7:02PM

Bob, I would think after having to Viet Nam that you would have gotten some religion. After all the crap you saw and experienced. I have a friend who was a prisoner of war and his faith in what you call a mythical creature in the sky was made stronger by it.
It also will make you happy to know that some of the countries that had bombs dropped on them were primarily Christian countries.
Of course, war is another one of those things where the one world bankers make a big profit and we underlings lose a lot of everything. And, that is neither a conservative or liberal matter, or a democratic or republican matter, but a far more complex matter than that.

BigFish| 2.1.10 @ 4:23PM

An even more nuanced concept is this argument: why would citing a woman's (Tebow's mom's) choice not to have an abortion be considered justification for not allowing her to have that choice? I've asked that question before & haven't gotten a straight answer yet.

Ken (Old Texican)| 2.1.10 @ 4:55PM

Jeremiah

Splendid, concise, and accurate. Thank you for 'splain it to the idiot.

John Allen Dickinson| 2.5.10 @ 10:42AM

The real issue in all of this is the fact that the gay ad wasn't allowed to run in 2004 because CBS had a policy of not accepting certain advertising but it is allowing this ad. Personally, I don't care if this ad runs or not--I am prochoice. Choose "life"? If that is your choice. Better--keep choice--and don't choice take it away from other women who might make a different decision. And, "choosing life" doesn't guarantee outcomes. Just ask Saddam Hussein's mother, who had no choice.

Missy| 2.8.10 @ 5:07AM

No one has the right to kill another, including a pregnant woman.

Possessing a uterus does not give you license to kill.

Sangredulce| 2.1.10 @ 3:21PM

Baby killing is indeed illegal in the Philippines (PI). Murder is illegal in the United States, yet how many homicides happen here? Abortion is performed and can be had in the PI if wanted. plus, as an American missionary, the Tebows were 2 hours from HK, 4 hrs from Japan and 12 hrs from the USA if they really wanted to follow the advise of the Doctor. Personally I know of three Mom's that received the same medical advise, and all ignored it. Today, there are three thriving children instead of three empty hearts and dead babies.

Marc Jeric| 2.1.10 @ 3:21PM

Personally I do not care whether a woman chooses to abort or to give birth. But the name taken by abortionists "Pro-choice" riles me up since they want government-paid abortions; that name reminds of "People's Democratic Republic" names given to their mass-murdering terrorist regimes by communists.

Bob| 2.1.10 @ 3:35PM

There are many of us out here who actually believe in choice and liberty and that is not restricted to abortion -- but also to marriage and other things. So I truly consider myself "pro-choice". People who advocate abortion over choice have something wrong with them. I abhor "pro-life" more than "pro-choice", because many of those NRA "pro-lifer's" don't mind if people are given the death penalty or can justify collateral damage in a war.

As for government paid anything -- no ELECTIVE/CHOICE procedures should be government funded whether it is abortions or boob jobs. You choose -- you pay.

Jolly One| 2.2.10 @ 5:20AM

Plan on gettin' knocked up anytime soon, Bob?

WRJonas | 2.1.10 @ 3:30PM

The importance of the word ,choice ,will be understood much better later on.
Jesus said he who harms these little ones would be the recipients of very harsh judgment. I think that he meant that and even some abortionists have come to understand the magnitude of their crimes.
In this world Satan prevails but he has no authority in the next.
Those who have rejected Jesus Christ have all made their choice and then the real consequences will be measured.

Was it Ms. Greene who made the (false) claim a couple of years back - it was someone who would qualify as "pro-choice" - that incidents of domestic violence peak during the Super Bowl?

She and her ilk didn't seem to be concerned about uniting people when that phony claim was made.

Defining the abortion of a human baby as a "choice" is an interesting play on words! I wonder if these so-called "free choice" defenders would defend someone's choice to abort a litter of cute little kittens??

Or worse:

A thought question for the "pro-choicer": How is Obama's defense of killing babies who survive abortions (IL. S.B. 1095 infant born alive act) different from hunters who kill baby fur seals??

If you look at what abortion eliminates someday there will be no more obamas or radical pro-choice feminists. They will abort themselves into extinction. After that sanity will again reign and then roe v wade can be overturned.

Simpleton| 2.5.10 @ 7:32PM

Ah, a goober thinks that this is a recessive genetic trait!

"Abort themselves to extinction" is emblematic of the stupidity of the pro-forced-pregnancy crowd

Missy| 2.8.10 @ 5:09AM

Between gays and pro-aborts you liberals are guaranteed self-extinction.

Sorry it hurts, but the truth often does.

CBS Double Standard: Network and Church Battle Over Ads | America Watches Obama links to this page. Here’s an excerpt:

…— giving birth to a man who went on to win one of college football’s most prestigious awards, becoming in the process, in the eyes of many, a genuine celebration of life. David N. Bass outlined the fury in terms of the pro-choice movement yesterday. But there is another problem here. It seems the ad, sponsored by Dr. James Dobson’s Focus on the Family, was accepted by CBS — when…

Glenn Warner| 2.2.10 @ 3:23PM

The reason the lefties hate the Dobson/Tebow ad is that they have no response to it. First they lack a passionate private beneficiary who
would be willing to pay the $3 million to fund such an ad. But if they did, what would such an ad portray. A successful middle aged woman
extolling the virtues of a career which may have been interrupted by carrrying that bothersome fetus to term? Another woman in one of
those "I had an abortion" Tee shirts, telling the superbowl audience how proud she is of exercising her constitutional rights? A group of poor youth rapping about how they wish they'd never been born? John Edwards saying "If only Reille had had an abortion, I might be attorney
general of the United States."? The reason the libs don't want this ad to be been is the same reason they didn't want Heathcare on CSPAN.
They can't handle the truth. You have to wonder why after thirty plus years of intense debate and rancor, a thiry second apolitical ad has so
much potential. You really think Tim Tebow was put on earth to play football? He doesn't.

The choice to kill a child is not an appropriate choice in a free society. Nor is the choice to kill one's mother -in-law, or the shop owner down the street. At least that is the basic common sense of the pro-life mentality. You can argue that a fetus is not a child, but science disagrees.

Copyleft| 2.5.10 @ 10:54AM

To hear this article's description of it, the commercial doesn't seem to be a "commercial" at all. After all, it's not advocating a point of view, or promoting an opinion; it's just "telling Pam's story."

Of course, that's nonsense. Its purpose IS to advocate a point of view--a specifically political one. As such, the Superbowl should have rejected it, as they do all political ads.

wwwexler| 2.8.10 @ 5:16AM

Waaaaaaa, waaaa, waaaa! Liberals excel at bitching, crying and whining--get a job, dumbocrat.

k962| 2.5.10 @ 11:08AM

All I have to tell the leftist is use your mute button or change the channel when the Tebow commercial comes on. See no problem, you won't be offended. Or are you afraid somebody else might hear it? Oh thats right, only YOUR speech is protected. Sorry Lefty, Constitution still reigns.

Simpleton| 2.5.10 @ 7:35PM

..or they can simply draw attention to the fact that CBS is being hypocritical and should suffer.

That too, is the same First Amendment's granted right, goober!

Sorry goober, you are too stupid to interpret the Constitution.

Missy| 2.8.10 @ 5:12AM

On display for all to see: "LIBERAL TOLERANCE."

Isn't it lovely?

BTW, goober, your whining is unattractive.

ONTIME| 2.5.10 @ 12:27PM

Why don't some of you ask the muslims among us if they believe in abortion and I will bet you a decent lucnh they will tell you, NO. They are overcoming obstactles in other countries by simply multiplying their lot, while those countries they inhabit that are not predominately muslim are killing their own prior to birth and think they are doing the world a favor....perhaps they are.

Wrong...| 2.5.10 @ 1:29PM

Sorry, but you seem to have gotten it wrong. The ad is antichoice because of the organization which paid for it, not because of the people in the ad. Tebow's choice is exactly that- a choice. A perfectly acceptable choice.

Trying to deny other women that same right to choose- which is what Focus on the Family is doing- is antichoice.

The other offense is CBS, who broke their policy in accepting the ad, lied about changing their policy, and then denied a gay dating website's ad.

As for myself and the prochoicers I know, we speak up against CBS and Focus on the Family; not Tebow or her choice.

Missy| 2.8.10 @ 5:18AM

Simpleton| 2.5.10 @ 7:22PM

Except that Pam's was not a choice. It was a forced pregnancy since Philliphines has had made abortion illegals since the 1930s.

The uproar is not that Pam did not abort her fetus as she wanted to, it is that she lied that she could but chose not to.

Missy| 2.8.10 @ 5:21AM

What a nasty little liar you are--not surprising since liberals lie.

All Pam Tebow had to do was fly back home to the U.S. and get an abortion.

She chose life instead. Good for you, Pam!

Mr.Joshua| 2.6.10 @ 8:19AM

The uproar has nothing to do with the content of the ad directly. The uproar is that the rules CBS established SPECIFICALLY against advocacy commercials, which is currently only applied against pro-homosexual messages.

It is referred to as "a clear double-standard". And, for those about to jump down my throat about "pro-gay" propaganda, keep in mind that the United Church of Christ add, does very little to endorse homosexuality except to say that everybody is welcome in their church and that is the way they believe Jesus would have wanted it. Not exactly explicity gay-porn or anything here.

facts| 7.12.10 @ 2:01AM

A representative from a pregnancy resource center came to our church to speak and she said that over 80% of the women that come into the center specifically searching for an abortion, when they get all the facts and given an ultrasound to see for themselves that their baby is not a blob of tissue, over 80% of them choose life. This is why pro-abortion groups are so adimit about keeping the pro-life cause quiet. It cuts into their business in a major way.
