Witchcraft's Candidate

Obama flies in to endorse a bad woman.

In the entire history of jurisprudence of the United States of America, there are no cases that I know of more shameful than the prosecutions of several groups of day care operators on totally false, trumped up charges of child abuse. In the Fells Acres case in Massachusetts and the McMartin Pre-School case near Los Angeles and in some other cases in the 1980s, wildly, insanely fabricated charges were made against totally innocent men and women running child care centers.

These charges involved such mental illness artifacts as that teachers at the schools put meat cleavers in the rectums of small children and then drew them out -- without leaving a mark -- that teachers flew around the school yard on brooms, that teachers cut off the legs of animals in front of children, all with zero evidence, of course.

The Fells Acres case in Massachusetts put several totally innocent men and women in prison for extended periods and ruined their reputations and lives -- all, again, on charges that could not possibly have been more insane.

These were cases that made the Stalinist Show Trials of the 1930s, with prosecutor Andrei Vishinsky, seem sensible and temperate by comparison. They were abuses of prosecutorial discretion on a monstrous scale. They were brought to ridicule by many writers, chiefly the great Dorothy Rabinowitz of the Wall Street Journal editorial board.

Now, here come some really breathtaking parts. These cases were little by little overturned and sentences commuted by authorities in various places, even in Massachusetts. But in the Bay State, guess which state prosecutor fought like a tigress to put the totally innocent Gerald Amirault back in prison and keep ruining this innocent family's life?

A woman named Martha Coakley. This woman, possibly the most questionable person ever to run for office in this country, is now the Democrat candidate for the Senate seat vacated by the death of Edward Kennedy.

I learned of this from my old pal Dorothy Rabinowitz at the Journal. I was still reeling from reading about this travesty when I turned on my TV Sunday morning to see our President, Barack Obama, speaking to a pep rally in Massachusetts on behalf of this bad woman.

Of course, every word Mr. Obama said in his speech was either a lie or wildly misleading: his claims of putting families back to work are a joke; his claims that he is standing up to the Wall Street bankers are actually laugh out loud funny (tell me how many bankers your administration is prosecuting, please, Mister President); his assertions that his party will not raise taxes on the middle class are comical considering what his health care plan will cost people with good health plans.

But those were Mr. Obama's standard evasions and mistakes of fact and frankly, he may even believe them himself, so he gets a pass, as he always does -- his whole life is about getting a pass.

Then, however, he put his arm around this woman, Martha Coakley, who kept innocent human beings in jail on totally faked charges that made the Salem Witch Trials look innocent, and I knew we were in real trouble.

If our President can endorse a woman who openly debases the judicial process, a woman who actually believes in witchcraft, we are in desperate shape.

President Obama believes he can trust Vladimir Putin. He believes he can deal honestly with Ahmadinejad. He believes that with no experience at all, he can wreck the health care system and build a better one. And he believes that a woman version of Vishinsky should be a U.S. Senator. These are frightening times.

But face the fact. Here we are. Unless the upstart challenger, Scott Brown, can pull this one out, we are about to have a woman who believes that innocent people should be put in jail just for political correctness' sake ("We Believe The Children"), who literally does not believe in a society of laws, in the U.S. Senate. This is very scary stuff.

Obama is completely focused on himself. He sees the rest of the world as existing only for the purpose of making him look good.

Obama is the kid who was left at the house in the Hamptons with the key to the Ferrari, and his instinct is to make the most of it because he knows it will not last. Before he and his cohort clear the White House, I hope they make him turn out his pockets and then go through the nude scanner.

loulou| 1.18.10 @ 11:23AM

Appleby: Excellent analogy.

Michelle and Hussein O are making hay while the sun shines. Like children, they are grabbing whatever they can while the getting is good.

I am confident that the fires of liberty in the hearts of those in Massachusetts are now sufficiently kindled and stoked for tomorrow's bonfire.

Coakley is cut from the same cloth as Pelosi.

loulou| 1.18.10 @ 11:24AM

But without the plastic surgery. Coakley clearly has not been "refreshed" by a good surgeon.

Melvin| 1.18.10 @ 7:46AM

But Ben, Marcia, I'm sorry Martha had good intentions when she embarked on her own little personal Jihad against Fells Acres.
That is what really counts in the long run right? Good intentions, are always the default get out of jail card for Liberal politicians when they screw up massively and make some innocents lives a living hell.
It doesn't matter if they destroy human beings, it doesn't matter that they destroy livelihoods, and it sure as hell doesn't matter that they tear apart communities, as long as they have good intentions.
If there is any payback for these good intentions is the Duke rape case with Martha junior former District Attorney Mike Nifong.
Yep, old Mikey Nifong thought he was going to ride the lacrosse players all the way to the state house and maybe the US Senate.
But Mikey didn't count on one thing. That the accused students parents didn't want to cop a plea just to get their kids out of jail and Mikey putting another scalp in his sanctimonious war belt.
They fought Mike Nifong, and they fought that lying bitch Crystal Gail Magnum who on her false testimony almost sent innocent men to prison because she thought her payday and her spot on Oprah was just around the corner.
Now Mike Nifong is a disgraced former Durham District attorney probably cleaning pig manure at one of the local hog farms.
Hopefully if Scott Brown wins, a disgraced Martha Coakley will come down to North Carolina and join former Durham District Attorney Mikey Nifong in cleaning the manure out of the pig pens, because that is all a liberal politicians good intentions are good for these days cleaning up after pigs.

What Coakley did to the Amiraults is a tragedy. Does she have no conscience?

Quartermaster| 1.18.10 @ 5:02PM

What she did to the Amiraults was not a tragedy, it was criminal. It was done with malice aforethought, not accidentally.

Exactly! Martha has no integrity, no moral compass, no interest in truth or justice. It's just all about Martha, and her career ambitions. Scott Brown has done our nation a service, even before he gets sworn in.

Tomorrow, the good people of MA will once again take a strong stance for freedom. God bless your courage. As one MSNBC talk show host said. (you know who it is) "I feel a tingle running up my leg"!!

James Pawlak| 1.18.10 @ 8:27AM

Just another (Democrat) Janet Reno.

Robert Pinkerton| 1.18.10 @ 11:16AM

Many years ago, I described Janet Reno as a grandstanding witch-hunter who wants to be as dangerous to the liberties of ordinary Americans, as Feliks Edmundovich Dzerzhinski was to the liberty of ordinary Russians in 1919 or Heinrich Himmler to the liberty of ordinary Germans in 1934.

Steve Goodman| 1.18.10 @ 8:29AM

Her real partner in this "children's crusade" is Janet Reno who worked tirelessly to hound Scott Snowden into prison on the same kind of incredulous and trumped up charges of child molestation. And, Reno soon demonstrated her incompetence when, as Attorney General of the United States under Bill Clinton, she authorized the Waco massacre of 74 men, women and children, 12 0f whom were less than 5 years of age.

We would (and could) expect nothing less (or more) from Coakley.

Bilwick| 1.18.10 @ 8:37AM

"Of course, every word Mr. Obama said in his speech was either a lie or wildly misleading. . . ."

No biggie. Just another day on the job for Il Dufe.
Remember: "There is no truth but socialist truth."

Anthony| 1.18.10 @ 8:37AM

The Democrats are in full melt down mode!!Thanks to Drudge, we discover, once again, how Patrick Kennedy is a chip off the old block. Like his drunken father, who was famous for not remembering the names of people he was supposed to endorse, (Osama Bama) Partick (3 am Kennedy) did the same by constantly calling Martha Coakley Marcia.
Ah yes, that Kennedy mystique. And of course, what Democrat rally would not be complete with it's "All Bush's Fault".
But you gotta love foot in mouth Coakley, no moonbat (thanks Howie Carr) MA moron would dare call Curt Shilling a Yankee fan. This woman gives empty suits a bad name and makes Obama out to be Churchillian.
Yet still to the leftist elites and some erstwhile conservatives, Selwyn Duke over at the "American Thinker", Sarah Palin is such a rube and an embarassment.
I think America's elites are experiencing a medical condition that requires the services of a proctologist.

JP| 1.18.10 @ 8:58AM

From what I saw, much of the Coakley rally revolved around the, "It's all Bush's fault" meme. This is pure desperation on the Dems part. They hope they can rekindle the ant-Bush sentiment one more time. Of course, the average Joe understands this. That's why they put the President and a huge assortment of Dems in high political office. The average voter wants reasonable solutions, not agitprop and Fascism. On the domestic front Bush and the GOP was already going in that direction (albeit very slowly).

I still believe that Martha/Marcie/Marsha Coakley will still prevail in Mass. They have the numbers, the organization, and the Sec. of State on thier side (remember Al Franken). If Brown pulls this off it would be the biggest political upset since Dewey-Truman (well maybe not that big. But big nonetheless).

loulou| 1.18.10 @ 11:27AM

That's right. Never underestimate the power of ACORN. Especially in a corrupt Democrat state like MA.

Jeff| 1.19.10 @ 12:27PM

Top notch post!

WalkingHorse| 1.18.10 @ 8:44AM

If Mr. Brown weren't such an affable and decent fellow, he would be more than justified in providing a rejoinder to Coakley's libels masquerading as campaign spots - Coakley as Cotton Mather in drag.

dnha14| 1.18.10 @ 8:58AM

In the speech Osama Bama said that Scott Brown Voted with the Republicans 94% of the time. Didn't Mr. Bama vote with the Dems at a higher percentage? Of course the Republican voted with the Republicans. When are politicians going to stop feeding us this tripe? Oh right, never because they think we're stupid.

Big J| 1.18.10 @ 11:16AM

Oh contra ire, Mon Frere:

Obama voted "present" most of the time.

When he actually WAS present, yes, he voted with the liberal bloc.

Lockandload| 1.18.10 @ 9:21AM

From the Daily Kos last November. Coakley first gave the Pedophile Father Geoghan a pass.
"Martha Coakley's status as frontrunner in next month's Democratic primary for the Special Senate Election to replace the late Ted Kennedy may be threatened as a result of a decision she made more than a decade ago as a county prosecutor". Story below:

Isn't it great that every single Democrat is evil to the core to the point of being demonic, and that all Republicans are noble and good-hearted?

Thank God the world is a simple place where people are either Noble Heroes or Dastardly Villains. Real life is exactly like a comic book, or professional wrestling. Makes it nice and easy to vote.

RAMIII| 1.18.10 @ 12:37PM

You have a good point, but shades of grey are much more difficult to convey than black and white.

Unfortunately the realm of politics/power attracts the best and/or the worst of humanity.

S.L. Toddard| 1.18.10 @ 1:18PM

I agree that it attracts the worst. The best though?

bob alou| 1.18.10 @ 1:15PM

Well at least you didn't bother to try and defend Coakley's despicable behavior.

S.L. Toddard| 1.18.10 @ 2:06PM

I don't know what you mean. You didn't "defend Coakley's despicable behavior" either. Why would either of us do that in the first place?

Max| 1.18.10 @ 10:06AM

The scariest part of all is that half the electorate will still vote for this sorry excuse for a human being.

ACynis| 1.18.10 @ 7:46PM

You are 10000% correct.
How can any sane, compassionate, normal person vote for someone like her.
It simply astounds me, but, as you say, it is simply frightening.
This country is not long for the world if about 50% of the electorate in any state has no problem voting for an evil monster witch like Coakley.

The allegations in this article would have to be true or Coakley could sue. It just goes to show how low the Dems have gone in their evolution into a rather anti-American and rather thuggish party. This woman’s election to the US Senate would be put them step closer to that ‘goal.’ The mystery is why the Dems seem unaware that this kind of stuff just puts one more nail in their political coffin. Are they all hunkering down and nervously reassuring each other that Obama and his gang from Chicago are going to make all of them incumbents for life? Voters who are still unsure about whether to vote for Brown or Coakley should review the video of Coakley’s dead face reaction to her thuggish aide hip-checking the reporter to the sidewalk.

gearjammer| 1.18.10 @ 11:38AM

Sacco and Vanzetti Redux. It's " Massa"chusetts don't forget. It was rumored that Teddy the " conscience" of the Senate was gonna help this family, the Ameriults, but then he learned they were not illegal immigrants and he said screw them. Do not discount the crazed, jackal media either in this entire episode. Also, most conservatives at the time said nothing. They had their usual knee jerk reaction that the law enforcement types were always right, blinded by their law and order fetish. People of good will came together to get some degree of sanity and justice. They were democrats, republicans, and independents, liberals and conservatives and none of the above-just like the folks who will vote for Scott Brown. The big time trial lawyers were most notably absent from the trenches, as in Waco=Coakley and Reno have both won awards from the trial lawyers, by the way. They were rewarded with keeping our crazed litigation system alive and well. Remember the big tobacco settlement-WSJ reports just 3 per cent went to smoker cessation. Not a single conservative seems to mind the injustice. Remember when the Republican Senate tried to limit trial lawyer compensation to 400k an hour ? The dems shouted the bill down-do you remember. I guess real conservatives would have sided with Harry Reid and Teddy and Boxer on this one-it smacks of a maximum wage in right wing weirdo land I reckon. What a corrupt twisted government, media, and law, and every other institution that matters have evolved. How did this happen ?

Steve| 1.18.10 @ 12:27PM

My fear is that Brown will win but there will be recount after recount until the corrupt Democrat-controlled election board gets the count they want, just like with Al Franken in Minnesota.

ncatty| 1.18.10 @ 1:38PM

Agreed.

JHB76| 1.18.10 @ 12:42PM

One of Coakleys latest "protecting the people " moments was in 2008 when she prosecuted a father of a 4 year old boy for assault after the father caught an illegal immigrant attempting to molest his son in a Market Basket men's room.
The father went to trial on the assault charge but of course the illegal was a no show at his indecent assault trial.

Marcell| 1.18.10 @ 12:43PM

My fear is that Brown will lose, & nothing will change in the Democratic Party; they will just look at Mass. being a close one.

Fionnagh| 1.18.10 @ 3:02PM

Then get your wallet out, troll, and contribute to Scott's campaign.

GONE TOO FAR
As a nation, we have allowed ourselves to drift too far from our roots, those established when the Pilgrims arrived and when our system was codified by the 19th century Democrats from Jefferson, Madison on to Cleveland, as cited in The Changing Face of Democrats on Amazon.com and claysamerica.com. We’ve allowed the Old World ideas of Rousseau and Marx to infect our politics through the 20th century Democrats, and now we are paying the price for it. Whether we will regain our proven way again remains to be seen. Whether enough of the electorate will choose the New World way or stay the course being laid down by Obama and become just another nation ruled by the few elite over the wishes of the many with individual freedom a thing of the past is yet to be decided. America proved prosperity comes from freedom, not dictatorship. Claysamerica.com

Maxwell| 1.18.10 @ 1:44PM

I look at Vladimir Putin and I think of KGB agent who would put a 45 to someone's head, pull the trigger, watch the brains splatter all over the wall and think nothing of it. After that he would take a little girl to get ice cream and tell her mother what a sweet little girl she is.

I look at Barry and I see his wife kicking his backside for not having more of a spine. Of course I can also hear George Soros tell Barry, listen, this is what you are going to do.....

Barry is such a tool.

Northern Rebel| 1.18.10 @ 1:45PM

I remember the Fells Acre case, and the Boston Globe and Herald, piling on this family.

From neighboring Connecticut, I remember the silence from these media organs, as the truth came out, although the Herald editorial page showed some courage, and admonished Coakley.

If this had been a republican official, they would have been burned at the stake in Salem.

Disgraceful!

Also, the genesis for this entire scandals might be Harvard school of Social work. It is a big mistake to underestimate Obama, aka Abu Hussein from Kenya, our Community Organizer-in-Chief. He has his communist cohorts installed as czars (or, as I call them komissars) in executive charge of everything; he has his system of local soviets fully functional (ACORN, SEIU, AFL-CIO, teacher unions). The Mass. recount will take several weeks and the Browm majority win will melt away until that s***bag Coakley is proclaimed the winner with a 300-vote majority. All illegal alien votes, all felon votes, all dead people votes, all duplicate votes, etc. - will be declared legal; most of absentee and military votes will be thrown away. Practices sharpened in elections in Florida, Washington State, and Minnesota will be refined and extended. Say hello to Senator Coakley!

The Coakley-Reno connection, mentioned by some posters, was the first thing that occurred to me after reading Ben's piece. Coakley recently said that people with hangups about abortion should stay away from the medical profession, an interesting way of dodging the issue of conscience clauses. It seems that public officials, especially female public officials, who are fierce advocates of "abortion rights" tend to be fanatics about the issue of child abuse. It's as if they need to compensate somehow for the moral emptiness they exhibit in their advocacy of pre- and post-natal murder.

As Ben says, she is a bad woman, plain and simple. The Dems put their foot in it when they referred to the contested Senate seat as belonging to Kennedy, but they may have had something r in mind a little deeper than they realized--perhaps they really meant that the seat belongs strictly to politicians with Kennedy's moral compass.

Jobe| 1.19.10 @ 2:41PM

You are telling me that a political machine that has kept at least one Kennedy in office for my entire lifetime, even serial womanizers and drunks who kill people, is going to be defeated by what has to be the stupidest electorate in the history of voting? I have no sympathy for the citizens of California, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, and Massachussetts (sp?). They have destroyed their own states (fouled their own nests), and now want to foul ours. I guess I shouldn't talk. I'm from Ohio which ranks 47 in the list of the states friendly to business.
