We have never seen, at least in the modern history of the United States, a right-wing street-protest movement. Conservatives who oppose Roe v. Wade march on Washington every January 22, the anniversary of that 1973 decision; but aside from that single issue and that single day, the American right over recent decades has, until this summer, carried out its organizing in a comparatively quiet fashion, via mimeograph machine and pamphlet and book and e-mail and text message, and left the streets to the Left.

So we have something new in our political life -- the summer's apoplectic and bordering-on-violent town-hall meetings, and the large "9/12" rally on Washington's National Mall that drew tens of thousands of people to protest America's descent into "socialism" (or "communism," or, occasionally, "Nazism").

American Prospect
Soi-disant conservative columnist Kathleen Parker, a fierce 2008 critic of the pulchritudinous Governor Sarah Palin and a derider of Joe the Plumber, is revealed by a gifted researcher in the pages of AmPro to have her own long-standing interest in plumbing as Art:

Save the Males, Kathleen Parker's 2008 polemic on sexual permissiveness and libertinism, contains the following euphemisms for vagina: "inner sanctum," "familiars," "you know what," "very private parlor," "sacred vessel," "vestal vestibule," and "hirsute abyss of God's little oven." We will be, laments Parker
in her obligatory chapter on Eve Ensler's The Vagina Monologues, so "awash in vaginaism," that we are nothing beyond "vaginas on the plain seeking out other vaginas with which to hold hands and gaze unlongingly into the silky night of a manless moon."

But, putting aside the bauble called Nobel Prize, it is such a relief Bush is gone. He was acceptable, strong under pressure, but he and his family want power almost as much as the Kennedys-- and that is very bad. Power is positive only in moderation.
You all saw what power did to the Kennedys, why do have you enabled the Bushes so much?

Who in Reagan's family is or was power-mad like the Kennedys and Bushes are/were?
The Reagan family has a smart but modest, son, on the radio. That's it.

More amd more I trust conservatism; less and less I trust the GOP.

Well Obama's Noble Prize is becoming a controversial issue after the news about nuclear weapons. Its a great honor to get a noble prize but still a lot of efforts required from President Obama to maintain peace. I hope they will be doing.

it is a good choice and a welcome acclaim to the policies and goals he endorses, however it maybe a good but a rather premature call:)

kelvin| 3.2.10 @ 10:32AM

it appears a good move as he is doing much for the global community in alternate fuel and environmental issues as well as giving prudent global security for sale by owner

Did Obama really deserve the Nobel Peace Prize? I'm not quite sure we have any more peace now than we did with Bush. With the wars still going on and with our new war with Afghanistan, more lives will continue to be lost. Although I did benefit from
Obama college grants, wars shouldn't need to be fought just for oil and stopping the Taliban.

After the Bushes, a lot of people put too much hopes in Obama. I guess did promise a lot of things during the campaign but no one's really a miracle worker! The Bushes probably just did a lot more damage than everyone realized! The mess they left can't be cleaned up overnight!

BestBingoSpots| 3.5.10 @ 12:49PM

Wow, I am surprised to see that he won it. I am not exactly sure what he has been doing.

Vince| 3.7.10 @ 11:22AM

I believe someone else could have done with the Nobel Peace Prize instead of Obama .. as pointed out before, I am not even aware of any activities he has undertaken to promote peace. What about the war-fare going in Afghanistan, Iraq and Iran .. and Syria. Lebanon / Israel, what exactly has Obama done to promote peace in these regions? Uganda .. The north, Kony, ... etc, so many examples could be cited.

Obama's winning of the Noble Prize is certainly a great achievement for him and the nation. It shows not only Obama is doing great for the country, but for the first time in a log period it seems that an US president is also getting appreciation and respect from the rest of the world.

I think Obama's Nobel Price is like winning a Gold Medal for the country. I hope he can continue his work and prevent future crisis.
