Fraud rackets. Newt. The Coens. Not blinded by science. Plus more.

Thus, it appears that Copenhagen, elevated to Hopenhagen, has morphed into Nopeinhagen.
Worth noting: The U.N. conference begins Pearl Harbor Day. Wonder if anyone, but especially Obama and his administration, noticed that?
Oh, wait: How could they? They don't know American history, do
they?

TRUMPING PROCESS
Re: Reader Mail's Eternal
Vigilance:
Open Letter to Gingrich:
Newt, I used to have a great deal of respect for you until you endorsed Scozzafava. Here is a woman who has nothing in common with conservatism. Nothing.
How did you justify this endorsement? Well, there were four meetings of the local GOP chapters and they all picked her. So let me get this straight. You let PROCESS trump PRINCIPLES?
Well, Newt, now you know why I am no longer a registered Republican (after 22 years) and probably won't be back. I too am no longer going to vote for RINOs. I'm only going to vote for someone I believe in.
Newt, you can keep your process; I'll keep my principles.

NONSENSICAL
Re: James Bowman's Two
Unserious Men:
They [the Coen brothers] are, it seems, like the character in Peter DeVries's novel The Blood of the Lamb of whom it is said that "he could not forgive God for not existing." But the revenge they take on Him in /A Serious Man/ seems to me less mocking than pathetic.
G.K. Chesterton wrote that militant atheism is nonsensical unless
the atheist, at some level, is a believer. To prove it,
Chesterton asks his readers to consider a great blasphemy against
Thor.

the Church is doing its best considering the pressures it is under. Politics is such gobbledygook today I don't care if it is Jeremiah Wright, the KKK, or gay Scoutmasters.
It's only funny when you read about it in Mad Magazine or Cracked.
Now, the molester scandals were bad, but when you live in a 'society' that glorifies animalistic behavior, why blame catholics so much and not others?
to show our sense of rectitude is impeccable.
Not likely.

BTW,
the UCC is harmless, it is all sound & fury.
But you know that. You guys are always one step ahead.

Mr. Brooks,
Amen.
The houses of faith are being tested as they have not been in a millennium or two. The success of American rugged individualism, built upon faith in oneself and belief in brotherhood, imperfectly executed but still exceptional, gave us prosperity never seen before. Sadly, many, but from all, have taken their inheritance without appreciation for it. This has allowed for several generations to live off the efforts of others. When one is no longer responsible for himself and turns a blind eye to responsibility for others, nations crumble. Greece and Rome did not fall until they became bloated and their leaders visionless. A Jewish prayer, “God give me enough that I don’t grow bitter with you but not so much that I forget you.” Even with this Great Recession, Americans are generally such a prosperous lot that too many of us have forgotten that blessings today are not guaranteed tomorrow.
Mad is legendary and timeless. Alfred E. Neuman still does not worry while Slyvester P. Smithe is worm food. Cracked?!? Alan, you are showing your age.

PPS,
We ought to go easy on all those of the cloth, as long as they are not committing outright crimes.
And I don't mean jaywalking.

You got it, Ira.
but I'm not young, if that's what you meant by reading Cracked. I'm well over 50 and read Cracked way before the age of Internet.
I don't want to be hard on youths, though. Their boomer parents are nonplussed and passing it on. Imagine how Gen. X will mess up their children.
I don't begrudge anyone any pleasure, but parents once had more of a link with the aggregate wisdom of 2500 yrs. That is-- or was--the big difference.
