Desecrating Catholicism

The Gospel of Teddy. Charlie Crist and Pepe. Libya lite. A liberal day of service on 9/11. Plus more.

WEARY
The monotony of the cadence is wearing thin.
The soaring rhetoric will now begin

To grate on the listeners’ so tired ears
Because beneath the oratory no one hears

Anything!  There’s nothing there!
But few heeded the message “buyer beware.”

Now very quickly in the full light of day
The bright shining vision has faded away.
-- Mimi Evans Winship

Riverside Church sounds more like a Unitarian church to me. Whatever one thinks of Unitarians, they do have the virtue of being upfront with what they believe--a virtue it seems Riverside does not share.

As much as one may suspect, "inclusiveness" does not include anything resembling an orthodox Christianity. "Openness and inclusiveness" in fact is posed as the direct opposite of the proclamation of Christ crucified.

The Books of Acts tells of Peter arrested and held to appear before the High Priest Annas, Caiaphas, the elders and the scribes. Peter testified that the crippled man was healed by the resurrection Lord, Jesus. Peter then went on to confess: "And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved." (Acts 4:12)

Lord Jesus was not an abstraction or a mere "concept". He is historical, particular, and concrete. The way of salvation is specific. Eternal life is life with the Father.

The saints and martyrs did not suffer and die for the faith only to have an "inclusive" church whose members worship and shoot the breeze about God "however you may conceive of Him/Her".

Ted is in heaven, but he's got soooo much community service up there.
it is cold comfort to Ted that heaven has 100 percent pure cocaine 24/7.

very very sad Kennedy isn't still here with us in this vale of tears.
An envelope with a sample 1.2 grams of primo Peruvian flake was to be delivered to his office in DC just a few weeks from now. Ted missed out.

You snooze, you lose.

But we must always be optimistic.

after Ted finished Community Service (stringing harps and fluffing up clouds) he will snorting the best stuff he ever did.
There's not just 100 percent pure coke in heaven, it is 100.000000000000...

never been stepped on.

the doc on duty in Heaven will give Ted's nose a quick retread, and then after Community Service has been completed, it's party time, Excellent!

The catholic church seems not to understand history. I'm certain that in 50 years the church will be mocked for giving abortionists like Kennedy such a glorious send off.

Do they not sense or care that their provocative, cannot-be-constrained hatred for America could manifest civil war, not just race or class war?
