Honduras — Riding Tigers

A warning to President Obama from John F. Kennedy.

President Obama has denounced the actions taken by the Honduran Congress, Supreme Court and military, all actions taken under the rule of law — Honduran law — in the nonviolent arrest and removal from office of strongman (caudillo) Manuel Zelaya. President Obama’s denunciation was based, using Jay D. Homnick’s apt phrase, on “standard collegiate peacenik rhetoric.”

Joining in this shame are the UN General Assembly that approved a resolution by consensus without a formal vote on June 30 (press releasetext), and the Organization of American States (OAS) that issued a resolution by acclamation on July 5 (press release and text).

Among the supporters of Zelaya are the caudillo of Venezuela, Hugo Chavez, the president of the United Nations General Assembly, and the secretary general of the OAS. Who are the latter two?

The General Secretary of the OAS is José Miguel Insulza. He is a Chilean lawyer who obtained an M.A. in political science from the University of Michigan. He was a part of the Marxist Allende government and was exiled from Chile from 1973 to 1988.

The president of the United Nations General Assembly is Miguel d’Escoto Brockmann. From 1979 to 1990 he was the Foreign Minister of the Marxist, Sandinista, Nicaraguan government. His official biography on the United Nations website, presumably one approved by d’Escoto, repeatedly states that he is a Catholic priest. The biography ignores the fact that the Vatican suspended his priestly faculties, and those of two other Sandinista priests, Ernesto and Fernando Cardenal, in the 1980s, more than 20 years ago.

In his Inaugural Address, President Kennedy issued a warning to former colonies who sought to model themselves after the Soviet Union. He warned them to defend their own freedoms and not seek power by riding the back of the Soviet tiger lest they end up inside. Today, his words serve as a warning to President Obama. Instead of supporting the Hondurans who are defending their freedom, he is riding the tigers of international socialists like Zelaya, Chavez, d’Escoto and Insulza. He will end up inside.

On can only pray that Obama alone ends up inside the tiger, and the United States escapes. A long bath in slow working stomach acid is almost too good for The One.

Obama may wind up in the mouth of the Tiger - I sure hope so and that he takes his spolied child-wife with him - better yet, Obama and Michelle will wind in the mouth of voters fed up with these elitist Facist socialist solipsistic fools and out of the White House in 2012 - crippled in 2010 - I DESPISE OBAMA and his policies and hos thug politics. He is an absolute embarrassment to the USA - Can't wait to get rid of the idiot...

Do we have to wait for B.O. to refuse to leave office to do what the Hondurans did?

I would settle for ousting him from the country.

Bill| 7.8.09 @ 10:01AM

That is why he is standing with dictators, and the would be dictators, he is afraid that Americans will do he same thing once he crosses the line enough. Maybe, he will look for them for support, when the time comes.

Years ago, my parents told me not to hang out with the wrong crowd, lest I be sucked into their bad habits and disrepute. That sage advice was proven prescient as I watched unseemly colleagues become destructive adults. Decisions about the company you keep define you -- whether unconsciously or even merely intellectually. They speak to your sympathies, your agenda, and sometimes even your audacious hopes.

In his autobiography, Pat Buchanan recounts that Miguel d'Escoto, his classmate at Columbia, was always speaking like a Communist. Should we be surprised that the Kenyan has as his "runnin' dogs" people like d'Escoto, Ayers, and Wright? My mother used to say that you're known by your associations. She was correct even though, as a kid, I thought her advice goofy.

Just saw this on Boortz:

During his visit to Russia this week President Obama had something rather interesting to say about our armed forces. He said that "the future does not belong to those who gather armies." Really? Well, I have this question for our Commander in Chief. Which country do you think is more in control of its future ... the country that keeps an army, or the country that does not?

Now, the same may be said for a country keeping within its laws. The chosen one does not like armies or the rule of law. And he is the CEO. If it weren't so dangerous for America, I'd say I would like to buy a bleacher seat for the game where he gets his clock cleaned. Hopefully, if we survive this narcissist socialist, that day will be in November 2012.

Guys,
I just had a chilling thought.

What if Obama and Crew wouldn't mind a massive attack on America?

What if that would be THE crisis they could take advantage of to harness all of us...literally?

rdman| 7.8.09 @ 1:09PM

IMPEACH Obama...

Old Texican| 7.8.09 @ 2:06PM

Alas, rdman
We cannot impeach him. His congress critters are in charge...and are happily following their "liberal" fantasies and the pied piper.
No!
We can only try to slow him down until 2010 and hope good people SHOW UP TO DAMMIT...VOTE!

danfromatlanta| 7.8.09 @ 2:10PM

It's up to us to hold our conservative representatives and senators to conservative standards. It is up to them to vote conservative interests. If we all do what is needed, obama will be the one term failure jimmy carter is. bho is in such a hurry to push through his socialist agenda since he knows the US public would never tolerate the government tyranny that goes along with it, and he knows his party will be thumped soundly in the midterms. His "stimulus" plan is a resounding failure, his party has overstepped their bounds, and will register their dissatisfaction with dem failures in the midterm elections.

marturion| 7.8.09 @ 2:32PM

Old Texican:
re: Chilling thought

Consider that the Obanination comes from a group that seems to consider "victims" to have the highest possible moral stature, and that the (nearly) whole word "stood with us" right after 9/11. The Obamination want to restore America's moral stature in the world. So, I expect that weakening the US to the point of inviting an attack of some sort--Nuclear, Chemical, Biological--would suit his worldview.

Al Adab| 7.8.09 @ 4:23PM

Alas. We have set our sails upon a new ocean. No longer the "boistrous sea of liberty" but rather one of icy silence where debate is "hate" and freedom something to be feared. If America continues to disown its birthright, history will not forgive us and the future of mankind, that unknown country, is dark indeed.

Old Texican| 7.8.09 @ 4:36PM

Amen, Al Adab.

dark indeed!

A clever way to put it, but unfortunately I think it would be more accurate to view Obama as one of the tigers, with freedom loving people in America and elsewhere ending up inside. I think that is Obama's plan anyway.

Al Adab| 7.8.09 @ 5:42PM

Thanks Texican, Always appreciate your thoughts.
No Super Vikes or Vee tails today?
We must keep up the battle of words for if that is lost, what other form might the defense of our Constitution take. I fear to hazard a guess.

David Lind| 7.8.09 @ 5:59PM

Are not Obama's comments and his position exactly the view he will expect to receive when he declares himself 'President for life' due to "the overwhelming public mandate"? While not Muslim, the guess is our President does, in fact, believe in 'one man, one vote, one time' politics. Before New Year, 2010?

Old Texican| 7.8.09 @ 8:04PM

Al Adab
No flying thoughts today. On another thread I'm wrestling with ostriches. check Bush doctrine thread........and weep for the stupid.

If only Ted would re-read Jack's inaugural address and tell the president he should read it too. How Jack and Ted came from the same stock is still a mystery to me.

Over the last decade I have had the chance to spend several stints in Honduras. Marvelous place, other than the fact that I nearly lost a limb to the bugs, but I digress. While I was there I befriended several family members of a very powerful and influential former "Senator." I met the man once and he told me that his former role in the government was "land procurement." The estate he lived on was a former holding of a British citizen. His idea of humor was currency based; he had paid the former owner "one dollar" for the property, not "one pound." From dawn to "breakfast" one of his sons and I would watch the sunrise and discuss "politics." One of the most fascinating and truly innovative aspects of the Central American body politic is the unwritten "fourth branch" of governing, one that they rely on and one we certainly will need soon. They refer to it as the "junta."
Several other things I should mention, they are to a fault outstanding capitalists and they are fiercely nationalistic. I have never been to anyplace where the people love and revere their land and their children as much. We could learn a lot from them, especially that "junta" maneuver.

What is so bad about ridding one's country of tyrants and dictators? Mr. Jefferson had much to say in the Declaration of Independence on that subject. Some of you liberal "thinkers" need to peruse the document.

Charney's most forceful argument concerned the irony of the occasion for The Nation's piece:
