Scourging at the Tiller

When will “respectable” left-wing extremists take responsibility for America’s violent society?

Liberalism hacks off the branch on which society sits, then blames conservatism for its fall. On smug shows like Hardball, liberals gasp self-righteously about the assassination of abortionist George Tiller and the shooting at the Holocaust Museum.

How — they ask while glancing furiously at the “right” — did killing become thinkable in America?

Mother Teresa answered their question over a decade ago at a D.C. prayer breakfast that they snored through: “Any country that accepts abortion is not teaching its people to love but to use any violence to get what it wants.…If we accept that the mother can kill her own child, how can we tell other people not to kill one another?”

The fashionable left presides over a culture of death, using man-made legal parchments to mop up its encircling pools of blood. But the blood never comes out; the stain remains and grows more obvious with time.

What threatens America’s future the most is not the transparently rancid extremism of the insane, but the “mainstream” extremism of the rich and powerful. To a Chris Matthews, left-wing extremism is somehow rendered “respectable” by law and recent custom. But reality is impervious to such phony distinctions.

As Abraham Lincoln said of legal slavery and the inexorable patterns of history that ripple from injustice, “every drop of blood drawn with the [slaveholder’s] lash shall be paid by another drawn with the sword.” Do we really think that every drop of blood drawn with the abortionist’s scalpel is exempt from the invisible laws of justice? The longer we permit this scourge to continue the more horrible America’s fate will be.

That hidden James Von Brunns exist in the hinterlands of America is scary. But what’s more chilling is the commonplace legal evil done “in clean, carpeted, warmed and well-lighted offices, by quiet men with white collars and cut fingernails and smooth-shaven cheeks who do not need to raise their voices,” as C.S. Lewis once put it. Extremists exist not just on the margins of society but in the center of it: the Park Avenue feminist on her third abortion, the charming and “brave” abortionist feted at cocktail parties, the celebrity who pens an anguished memoir about drugging to death an enfeebled and annoying parent.

Around the time James Von Brunn was preparing to shoot up the Holocaust Museum, Barack Obama’s extremist mentor was shooting off his mouth about “them Jews.” The liberal elite are shocked by the former, yet tolerant of the latter. Jeremiah Wright still sits at their posh dinner parties in Chicago, as do for that matter Muslim activists, whose statements about Israel and the Jews differ from Von Brunn’s, if at all, in degree not kind.

Killing the weak and undesirable is the “final solution,” said Hitler, but as Chris Matthews and company walk through the Holocaust Museum in shock at such notions they neglect the extent to which their own moral philosophy mirrors his. The culture of death which they excuse and extend is essentially Hitlerite: the “final solution” to an inconvenient pregnancy is abortion; the “final solution” to soaring health care costs is euthanasia; the “final solution” to disease is experimenting on embryos; the “final solution” to disability is prenatal screening, etc., etc.

“Every child a wanted child” is a slogan Hitler himself could have devised. Instead, pro-abortion liberals did, and they have been killing “unwanted” children ever since. They are in no position to lecture “the right” on America’s violence.

Another thing that adds to the atmosphere of casual violence in America today is the Entitlement Mentality. When you tell people, most specifically young people, but also those fading hippies who still cling to the Sixties, that they are Entitled to material possessions as a matter of Right -- that they are in fact entitled to things they cannot produce, and that those who preach Entitlement cannot give them, why should anyone be surprised when robbery with violence is the result? If I promise you the Right to own a home, and you have no money, why should you not break into a home and squat there by right? If somebody made only 2500 pairs of a certain brand of sneakers and you have a Right to those sneakers but your mother supports you on welfare, why should you not feel entitled to stab someone to death and take the sneakers that his working parents bought him -- or that he worked to buy?

Lincoln once said emphatically that no one was entitled to the rewards of the coerced sweat of another mans brow. He was talking about slavery. Today we call it Entitlement. In both cases it is the same.

Burton Wright| 6.12.09 @ 6:33AM

Amen brother!!

Robert Rosencrans| 6.12.09 @ 6:48AM

One point that should be noted is that James Brunn did not fit in as a right wing terrorist.

http://ace.mu.nu/
The suggestion that the Standard may have been a target complicates any view of the racist shooter in contemporary left-right terms. Von Brunn's white supremacist roots put him under the rubric of a "right-wing extremist," but the substance of his views — which included everything from believing that President Bush may have been in on the September 11 attacks to denying that President Obama is an American citizen — are too far on the fringe to fit into conventional political classification.

Big J| 6.12.09 @ 8:35AM

Another more recent and disgusting example of this goose and gander hypocrisy is clearly illustrated in the two completely different reactions by the Obama administration regarding the murders of George Tiller and Private William Long.

George Tiller was murdered in cold blood while attending church on Sunday, by a "right-wing extremist". Our dear leader issued a statement within hours condemning this "heinous crime", stating that he was "shocked and outraged". The same day, Eric Holder ordered U.S. Marshals to many abortion clinics for added security.

Private William Long was murdered in cold blood in front of a recruiting center on Monday, June 1st by a Muslim convert. Finally, on Wednesday the Obama administration issued a limp-wristed statement claiming that Obama was "deeply saddened" by this "senseless act of violence". No outrage. No extra security at recruiting stations. Notta.

I can only surmise that Obama hates our country, our freedoms and our troops. It pains me to say that, but I invite anyone to prove me wrong.

Sad.

Bob C | 6.12.09 @ 8:59AM

As we watch the politically correct kooks place blame for the Holocaust Museum killing on "right wing extremists", it is always curious how they get to that description ?

The neo-nazi group believes in the totalitarian control by an individual over the masses of jews, blacks or muslims and that political preference is by very definition as far left as the scale goes - total control by an individual - dictatorship

It would be refreshing if the lefty kooks would do a little reading about the Constitution of our Republic, then they would not need to blindly accept the words of Obama and his Chicago thugs as being gospel truth, but alas, that is not going to happen.

We can't wait for Janet Napolitano to weigh in on the subject since she got it wrong in her terrorists analysis - maybe this guy sneaked in through the mexican sieve after he served time for his similar acts back in the sixties ? or possibly the Homeland Security dolt forgot to jot down his long standing hate postings on various neo-nazi and skinhead websites - we should probably keep a better eye on the hate mongers who have a know history of action as well as words ? what do you think Janet ?, or are you too busy helping direct traffic at the border !!

Becky| 6.12.09 @ 9:06AM

I am hopeful that the trend in those calling themselves pro-life continues. I find it odd that the left promotes and defends abortion and euthanasia, yet hasn't found a criminal worthy of the death penalty because they may be innocent. I guess people on both ends of life are not accorded an innocent or guilty status in determining their fate. Both babies and old parents are guilty by virtue of being a "burden" both physically and financially.

It is common today to hear at the funeral of someone who died from a long illness, that we treat animals better by "giving them a shot" and "helping them along." The people that are helped most by both euthanasia and abortion are the ones left living.

ame| 6.12.09 @ 9:13AM

If it's not torture to crush the skulls of babies and then suck them out of their mothers' wombs or to leave babies born of botched abortions to starve to death or release pedophiles to prey on and rape innocents then it isn't torture to waterboard terrorists - people who will kill Americans and destroy America and who BEHEAD OTHERS - and THAT is a minimum
punishment as far as these reprobate animal thugs are concerned.
WHERE IS THE OUTRAGE AND THE PHOTOS PLASTERED ALL OVER THE WORLD ON THAT?
and Obama says ... nothing...and remember - Janet takes her anti-military pro-illegal immigrant orders from the Chicago thug identity politics apologize for America Obama - stop blaming the guards for the orders of the Red King.

Obama has no moral or ethical code - he just does whatever is expedient for votes and power and for support from Soros - he wants to tax everyone's health care EXCEPT FOR UNIONS AND GOVERNMENT WORKERS - he has no principles -
Obama is a coward, a barbarian coward who kills innocents but saves murderers.

Son Of Sam | 6.12.09 @ 9:37AM

The saddest part of the whole shooting at the Holocaust Museum was watching the son of murdered security guard Stephen Johns talk about his dad. Father's Day is just around the corner, and now this boy -- who was sweet, quiet, intelligent and clearly loved his dad and the very ground he walked on-- is going to be without his father. On Father's Day. And for the rest of his life.

The most frustrating part of it is how the so-called "apostles of tolerance" cannot connect the dots between their fraud of an ideology, and the tragedy that has befallen modern day America. That young boy on TV was African American. A hater took his dad away, but NO ONE wants to talk about just how many dads have been taken away by the goddammed welfare state and the lying, fraudulent so-called "war on poverty". You can go to any inner city in America, and there's whole neighborhoods where there's not a dad to be seen. That's because a poor man cannot possibly compete against Uncle Scam and his giant check writing machine, against programs that reward poor women for NOT marrying the fathers of their children. And that, my friends, is the main reason why there are so many youth gangs: because there are so many fatherless boys, boys without strong positive role models. And all because upper class white limousine liberals have got a jones for arms length social reform and the bullshit "war on poverty". Their idiot ideas of "helping" have destroyed millions of families for three generations. So tell me, who are the REAL haters?

But let's not stop there: even before birth, the children of the poor --especially those who are not white-- have the deck stacked against them. I have a boy only a few years older than Stephen Jr., and his chances of being carried to term by his mother were statistically speaking FIVE TIMES higher than the son of the slain security guard. Abortion is being used to exterminate people of color in America, especially African Americans. It's not an accident that there are far more abortion clinics in the inner cities than elsewhere, any more than it's an accident that we tolerate rates of violent crime there which bring out the SWAT teams in the suburbs. So tell, who are the REAL haters?

The founder of Banned Parenthood, Margaret Sanger, was a racist who despised non-white Americans and cheered the eugenics policies of Hitler's National SOCIALIST Germany. Her modern followers continue in her blood drenched footsteps, only they attack us patriots and conservatives for trying to stop them in their mad schemes, calling US "fascists" and "extremists .

I re-iterate: WHO ARE THE REAL HATERS?

stand strong until freedom dawns

Hey guys....

What happened to David Matthews?

Did that fool finally get the boot.

Bizarro Dave Matthews| 6.12.09 @ 10:23AM

We have 20,000 murders a year in this country. The only reason we are talking about this one as a nation is that the political class smells an opportunity. In addition to the usual blather about right-wing extremists is the suspense about "Will this be charged as a hate crime?" What exactly would it matter? You think an extra 2 or 3 years tacked onto the end of a sentence of an 88 year-old man matters? Like he's going to give a crap. And that's if he survives his wounds. The best way to treat this is to give the old fart no publicity. Don't mention his name. Don't mention his website. Talk only about the security guard. As for the turd who murdered him, let him sink into obscurity, a worthless zero. Instead, the MSM can't help itself. They hold as much responsibility with their guarantee of publicity as anyone else.

L. Ross| 6.12.09 @ 10:29AM

The last few days I saw Dave Matthews post, no one responded to him. I think he felt unappreciated and left.

'I can only surmise that Obama hates our country, our freedoms and our troops.' and
'and remember - Janet takes her anti-military pro-illegal immigrant orders from the Chicago thug'. I totally agree. She certainly left AZ in a mess and now is in DC doing the same.

Brian B| 6.12.09 @ 10:38AM

Let's not forget that the pious Obama bemoaning Mr. Tiller's fate is the same fellow whose mentor is an unrepentant domestic terrorist who not only made bombs but quite possibly murdered a police officer with one.

BTW, that Mathews creep must have been banned as he popped up on (I think) the UKTelegraph site a day or two ago spouting the same inanities.

Big J| 6.12.09 @ 10:40AM

Please take the time to watch these videos. They are very long (about an hour each), but I am sure you will find them worth the time. Hands down, the best description of the Modern Liberal I have ever heard. I am starting to believe that Liberalism is as much a danger to our country as terrorism. Just my take.

....a crazy thought: can we get some rich and rightous person to open an "Abortion Museum". Could that person be stopped ? In fact, couldn't it be a charitable entity under our tax law , supported by deductable contributions ?
Imagine the displays....imagine the gnashing of teeth...imagine how many lives (and souls ) would be saved ! just a thought.

Pretty hard to argue when a saint points out Truth:

Allen| 6.12.09 @ 8:00PM

Great Article!

Personally, I'd like to see someone link abortion to the current and future troubles the nation is facing. The link is not hard to make: Killing 1.3 million people every year for 35 years creates a deficit of 45 million people, actually more because of the generational factor (how many of the people we aborted in 1973 would have had children of their own?); This changed the demographic assumptions that were the basis for social security and a myriad of other programs, therefore creating a humungous future financial burden without enough taxpayers to pay for it.

Too often, we have been told that abortion is a private issue that is no one else's business. However, as in every other area, morally wrong private behavior snowballs into public disaster.

…routinely performed late term abortions; a horrific practice indeed. The other example he sights, the white supremacist who shot and killed a police officer at the holocaust museum is completely without validation. Anyone with any type of intellectual honesty knows that…

matt jones| 6.13.09 @ 2:20AM

to the untrained eye this article is a crafty piece of work. to others however, with enough sense to look beyond the ends matter most of all mentality, can see this article for what it is: virulent associations and propaganda. lets begin. first of all every child is a child wanted is not a line that one of the worst human beings who ever lived could have come up with. the difference matters and is found in why so many were killed: while the 'quiet men' perform nessesary evils by preventing human beings without the care and love their existence demands and deserves, the tyrannical, the revolutionaries and those who like the last two, claim to be great visonaries, base their- and here most defiantly a culture of death- modes of operation on two equal facets- those died serving the agenda, dogma, etc. were heroes in death, and those who died opposing the above mentioned individuals- now, read closely folks, this is important- *deserved* to die. the hate and rage that go in to genocide and planned targeting are also marks of a culture of death that life is defined by set rules which are more valuable than the lives themselves. however abortion is based on an understanding that lives are valued above all else, as well as their quality. notice i wrote lives not life, wherein the latter denotes anything alive, while the prior denotes actual ensambles of humanity. another thing, for future reference most liberals denounce Reverand Wright, but oppose the mention of it's association with President Obama- Wright was a family pastor, so the change did not occur until later in President Obama's life. to conclude this article founded on the need to vilify groups in America as a source for problems embodies the enviornment in which radicals like brunn or the extremist who shot Dr. Tiller thrive- finger pointing.

Oldefarte| 6.13.09 @ 1:57PM

The narcissistic blindness of a liberal's mind can be seen in a now aging NE senator who long ago abandoned a sinking automobile [that contained a helpless female companion], after same had careened off a bridge into the water. This liberal did not report the incident until hours later, before first conferring with numerous lawyers as to his upcoming legal problem resulting from this incident. Years later, when this liberal was confronted by another brash young woman inside a bar on Florida island, exclaimed to her DON'T YOU KNOW 'WHO' YOU'RE TALKING TO? Shortly thereafter, this liberal's nephew, sexually assaulted this woman for, no doubt, NOT KNOWING WHO SHE WAS PREVIOUSLY TALKING TO! Now, this aging liberal is arrogantly attempting to cram down America's throat his welfaric universal healthcare ideas, and, in effect, accompolishing the same tragic results as the brash young woman faced years ago. As a play on the liberal slogan of the NAACP previously, A LIBERAL MIND IS A TERRIBLE THING TO WASTE!!!!!

Marc Jeric| 6.13.09 @ 2:01PM

That moron von Brunn (you recognize the German name here, with the Prussian nobility prefix) was probably in his youth a member of Hitlerjugend. Good comments here! What we have happening currently in our country is the culmination of years of brainwashing by the liberal elite in our country. The American People have been conditioned to exercise certain compassions and stand up for racial injustices. On the surface you would think having compassion and not being a racist are good things right? No doubt this is true if this were the actual goal and reason for the left's onslaught of pushing "equality". However what we have now is an infiltration by those I consider worse than the nazis. Worse? Well by sheer numbers we can definately begin to make that argument. 5000000. The victims of the murders seals the argument considering the murdered are ALL innocent. The left points at racism with their left hand while using their right to hold the mic and make anti-white statements. With their right hand they gather attention for the rights of terrorists while using their left to pass the scapel. This is an orchestrated attempt to destroy our country from within. The irreligous, racist, and anti-american left have their orgins not from the blessed soil of the americas but from the thorny soil of the communist and nazi regimes.

More disingenuous spin from George Neumayr.
Make all the analogies with abortion you wish, but James von Brunn chose the Holocaust Museum to make his Major Statement for one reason: It was a living symbol of everything he detested. And Jews, for him, are at the nexus of anything bad. The speech by Rev. Jeremish Wright, repellent as it was, doesn't rise to the level of first-degree murder. Or maybe I missed something.

The rush to show that liberals are the "real" terrorists is highly dishonest. When will we conservatives, including Mr. Neumayr, have to guts to look into the mirror and admit we've got a few design flaws. Nazism is a phenomonon of the Right, not the Left. Toss out that silly book by Jonah Goldberg and read some real history.

Max Rossell | 6.15.09 @ 4:21AM

"The new US President, George W Bush, has signed an executive order cutting off federal funding to international agencies which support women seeking an abortion. "

"The outgoing Bush administration this week will finalize a regulation establishing a "right of conscience" allowing medical staff to refuse to participate in any practice they object to on moral grounds, including abortion but possibly birth control and other health care as well."

"On November 16, George W. Bush announced that the next Deputy Assistant Secretary for Population Affairs will be Dr. Eric Keroack. The U.S. Office of Population Affairs advises the Secretary and the Assistant Secretary for Health on reproductive health issues, including adolescent pregnancy, family planning, and sterilization, as well as other population issues.

Keroack, an anti-abortion, anti-birth control obstetrician/gynecologist, is the medical director of A Woman's Concern, a Christian Crisis Pregnancy Center (CPC) in Massachusetts. In 2005, this CPC got $1.5 million in state funds to teach abstinence-only education in schools."

"Outgoing Republican President George W. Bush has had the most pro-life record of any U.S. president in history, representatives of pro-life groups told CNSNews.com on Friday.

On Thursday, in one of his last acts as president, Bush declared Jan. 18 “National Sanctity of Human Life Day,” stating that the "the most basic duty of government is to protect the life of the innocent.""

Sean, it looks like Bush DID try to do something about ending abortion, you just forgot. It took me all of five minuets to Google "bush w federal funds abortion" and come up with the above quotes. I suggest you do that same.

Sean| 6.15.09 @ 1:51PM

Bush did everything that made no difference. I'm surprised anyone would try to make the argument you present. The truth is Republicans would rather cudgel the Left with the issue than show real leadership.

Missy| 6.15.09 @ 2:06PM

Well, Sean, your hero Obama has certainly shown leadership--on the issue of infanticide. His evil policies assure the slaughter of many more innocent babies.

Yo, Pauley:

Whether or not Mr. Von Brunn is a registered Democrat, Republican, Libertarian or "Other" is entirely beside the point. He is a radical of the Far Right -- his beliefs, tone of voice, and actions (past and present) make that conclusion unavoidable. This isn't about party membership.

By the way, I'm a male, not a female -- so much for my being an "ignorant slut." But then, it's par for the course for intellectual thugs like you to spew first and ask questions later.

A taunt is not an idea.

Great article, George - Will be forwarding this to my family and friends, both conservative and libs, as your points are dead on right (pun intended).

Wish I had time to respond to the moonbats on this thread but gotta get to the shooting range - Will be thinking of y'all though...

Who is John Galt?

Pauley| 6.15.09 @ 8:02PM

Seek, you're ignorant or devious but regardless--Von Brunn was a regular blogger at Huff-Post and DU. He is one of you, just like Hitler who was a National SOCIALIST and that Muslim guy who killed one of our soldiers, too.

Deal with it, libtard. Nice try, though, pretending he is one of us--you're all haters over there.

I knew you were a guy, dumbo--but being a liberal, I knew you were a slut, too!! And a hobag. lol

Hey Sean,

Ever heard of a dictionary?
They even have one on the "internets" now, Einstein.

Mr. Baker,

It's easy to bait people when they THINK they're so much smarter than they actually are, huh?
And they think they're dealing with a bunch of stereotypical redneck rubes?

Great job, great points, great word. Thanks for bringing it to my attention, since I went to government schools most of my life.

Angel| 6.16.09 @ 12:55AM

Ain't nothin' stereotypical or redneck rubed about you, Nick (though, I do like rednecks!). :)

How've you been?

Sean| 6.16.09 @ 6:32AM

Missy, there you go again. Do you always leap to unwarranted conclusions?

DICK, nothing. I just like calling you DICK.

Nick| 6.16.09 @ 10:54AM

Angel,

I've been good, how about yourself?

Thanks for the compliment. And although I do work outside, and my neck does tend to get red this time of year (it gets golden brown later); I'm a Yankee.

I have always liked things Southern though, my uncle is from Alabama. And I love southern rock!

The bleeding heart liberals that post here have convinced themselves they are debating with Jed Clampett and Barney Fife. I would rather have Jed as president than B.O. Jed might not have been wise in the ways of the world, but he had common sense.

Hope things are well with you, Angel.
God Bless!

Angel| 6.16.09 @ 2:18PM

Nick--lol! You always make me laugh. Hope you have a fun summer--take care.

Angel| 6.16.09 @ 2:20PM

Yeah, and Jed wasn't corrupt and power hungry, either.
