Conventional wisdom places the blame for the Pakistan Army's battlefield hesitancy on its lack of training and equipment to fight an insurgency such as wrought by the Taliban. Perhaps the simplest and clearest explanation was given anonymously by an honest but far too junior Pakistani Army officer: "Dear chap, there are no promotions in battling these religious fanatics."
The young captain could have added that the hundreds of millions of dollars purportedly sought to "properly arm and train" the Pakistan Army by the Zardari government rests heavily on Washington's acceptance of the under-equipped status of the seventh largest military force in the world. This is in spite of the estimated $10 billion already transferred to Islamabad from the United States during the Army-favored Musharraf years.
What is it then that holds back the well-organized Pakistan Army? Is it that it does not like to fight fellow Moslems and is structured to battle only its non-believing Indian neighbors? From a military standpoint this just doesn't hold water. The ancient regiments of Pakistan have lengthy histories of taking on all comers. Since the early 19th century Moslem Pathan hill tribes have been the enemies of these bagpipe-led warriors organized by the British during the days of the Raj.
The tradition of the Pathan (Pushtun) has been to defy the dominance of the Punjab from which six of the nine operational corps of the Pakistan Army are drawn and headquartered. Moslem against Moslem often had been the order of the day for regiments raised from Western India during British colonial days.
In the past several years the elite Special Services Group has been pursuing an accelerated recruitment and training program. There are approximately 3,000 of these troopers trained by the British SAS, U.S. Special Forces and Chinese Special Forces. Formed into six battalions, these soldiers are capable of operating in small cadres, as is the usual case with special operations forces. SSG elements were the lead unit in the assault that retook Bruner from the Taliban last week only sixty-plus miles from the capital city of Islamabad. By all accounts these tough troopers are more than up to the tasks assigned to them.
So what holds back the rest of the Pakistan Army from pushing out the Taliban from their positions in the Swat valley? The initial response from military leaders has been consistent. The politicians in Islamabad, they say at army headquarters in Rawalpindi, believe they can negotiate with Taliban leaders in such a manner as to preserve the political support of Pushtun tribal elements overall.
For its part, the Pakistan Army command has for many years worked closely with Pushtun militants: this was true against India and the Soviets in Afghanistan. These same groups now make up today's Taliban. Parallel to this sense of loyalty to old comrades-in-arms is the thinking that civilian law enforcement, in concert with local paramilitary units, does nothing to follow-up the army's initial victories. Hard won battles are perceived as undercut by civilian ineptitude.
In other words the army blames a lack of local follow-up and yet at the same time is itself hesitant to initiate a crushing blow on its old buddies who are now in the Taliban leadership. Many more explanations are available from General Staff in Rawalpindi, but the bottom line is always the same: "Our real enemy is India and always will be!"
To add to the arguments justifying army hesitancy for a large-scale attack on the Taliban, there is a continuing belief that the U.S. truly wishes to diminish the power of Islam in Pakistan and Afghanistan. Such views are rarely uttered to Western official representatives, but the depth of their feeling is often transmitted privately.
One factor acting as an obstacle of unstated but perhaps even greater importance is that American-trained General Ashfaq Pervez Kiyani, Chief of Army Staff, apparently has no immediate interest in heading a military action to take over once again from Pakistan's ineffectual civilian leadership. Kiyani is quite satisfied with being able to shift potential blame for Islamic militancy and Taliban encroachment onto the civilian government.
The Pakistan Army has been the keystone of its nation's independence for 62 years and strongly believes it knows best how to preserve it. Other than as strategic leverage the Taliban may have little interest militarily in Pakistan's rumored 50-60 nuclear weapons -- but their close friends in al Qaeda definitely do. The hope is that Gen. Kiyani and his officers are right when they say they have the matter under control. Washington certainly doesn't!
Aaron| 5.6.09 @ 6:32AM
The Pakistani Army is without question strong enough to stop this current crises, but the problem is the combination of all the items the author wrote about. I'm not sure the Army really wants to stop it. I've worked with members of their Army in the past and have nothing but respect for those I've met. They as well showed me deep respect and their level of discipline and devotion to duty was incredible.
What is really interesting is that the only fix for Pakistan is for them and India to hash out their problems once and for all. That conflict however is perhaps the one thing that has kept both of their militaries strong and well trained.
Melvin| 5.6.09 @ 7:53AM
Aaron is right, in his analysis of the military situation in Pakistan. Americans tend to try to push the attitude of, "Fix it now!" well that is not the case in many cultures around the world and especially in Pakistan.
On the outside the Pakistan Army looks like a bunch of rubes running around without a clue in how to defend their country, but by the very nature of their culture it will take a while to sort out, and the India situation is no different, these people hang on to memories like elephants and they cannot become homeboys with the Indians overnight, it will take years to erase the distrust from both sides of the border.
Think of it this way, "Appearances can be deceiving." And that is the case of the Pakistani Army.Trust me they are not a bunch of Rubes.

Why has Pakistan become America's problem?
Why is the rest of the world Americas problem?
Why can't America look after it's own problems?
Why has the American Constitution become irevelent.
Who attacked the world trade centre? why no investigations? Why the cover ups?
Why when America and the world discovered the War in Iraq was based on a lie, why did America and it's allied forces not leave?
Why were people been tortured to lie, making false statements.
Why did the Talabans destroy the poppy production? and why since America and Britain is in Afghanistan the Poppy production has tribbled in production? Why has the drugs in Mexico and on the streets of America rising, and in Europe. How is these huge quantities of Getting into America and Mexico and Europe?.
Why is what Pakistan such a vital part of the Afghanistan, could it be that the Talabans don't want the Opium production coming out of Afghanistan. Iran don't want it coming through their border because they have a huge addiction problem, hence the on going threat against Iran. If the Manufacturing base in America is to be destroyed what will replace it? Drugs like they once did to China truned every one in China addicted to Drugs, the question is are we seeing that being done to the American people?.

Aaron & Melvin. I agree with both of you. However, I think the REAL problem in Pakistan is the ISI, the intel service. That organization is penetrated, at almost every level, by Taliban & Al Qaeda sympathizers or operatives. When your spy outfit is full of traitors & double agents, it's kind of hard to conduct effective operations. Until that den of rats is cleaned out, these problems will continue, in my opinion.

Dear "destruction"
You have no clue. Please remove your tinfoil hat so your brain can cool down.
1) the war in Iraq was not illegal nor was it based on a lie. The war was (and is being) fought to liberate a people from oppressive fanatics. Did you miss the footage of the prison that was opened and children, scarred from torture, ran to try and find their parents? Did you not see the mass graves of innocent civilians tortured for their ethnic background of their thoughts and dreams of freedom? The weapons of mass destruction myth has been debunked when thousands of tones of yellow cake uranium ore was discovered and shipped to Canada to get it out of the region. The horrors of Saddam Hussain were real and he died a easy death as a result of his crimes. THANKS TO AMERICA!
2) It is America's problem. The terrorist's attack was on OUR SOIL! IDIOT, I know you saw the death in NY. The only way to stop the Muslim tide sweeping freedom from the planet in the name of a satanic god is to meet them head long. Your peace-and-flowers drug-induced-haze where you see peaceful hippies everywhere is a lie. All that generation did was promote free love and produce illegitimate children. It is over and it was a failure. aMERICANS ARE TAKING A STAND TO INSURE our nation CAN REMAIN FREE. Obama wants to weaken our nation but that will not stand long. He underestimates the average American and is getting an education.
3) The Taliban did not destroy the poppy fields. I STOOD IN THEM PERSONALLY and can unfortunately tell you there are more poppy fields today than ever. The Taliban use them to fund their operations. The heroin produced goes through Pakistan in the hands of the Taliban. Again, IDIOT, you are in a drug-induced haze speaking of things you know nothing about.
4) American's would look at their own problems if it weren’t for self serving politicians (Pelosi, Obama, Boxer et al) undermining the freedom of the American people. You, you ill-informed hippie, are the real problem behind all of this. You voted them in and now have become a conspiracy nut typing lies anonymously from your mother's basement but totally unwilling to DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT! Take responsibility and grow up.
Thomas| 5.6.09 @ 11:06AM
The lack of military action against Taliban, and Al Qaeda elements in Western Pakistan has little to do with the Army. It has everything to do with Pakistani internal politics. Pakistan is a complicated place. You have various religious ties layered over a bedrock of tribal and familial affiliations. This makes any concerted action against groups inside Pakistan very difficult for the government.
Until the government push against the Taliban in the Northwest Frontier Provinces, the Taliban, and Al Daeda, kept a low profile in Pakistan. Their main area of operations was in Afghanistan. Add to that the fact that the Taliban had strong tribal and familial ties, as well as religious ones, to the people of the NWFP. Therefor, it was not desirable for the Pakistani government to move against them. Moving militarily against the Taliban would have likely resulted in open conflict with a significant portion of the indigenous population. In 2007, the Taliban, with help from allied groups in the NWFP, literally took over the Swat valley. Though the number of actual Taliban was small, the Frontier Constabulary was unable to have any impact upon their operations. This was largely due to the support that Taliban elements have within the established population. In addition to indigenous support, the Taliban practice intimidation techniques similar to those used by the Viet Cong. To top it all off, the Taliban have support from the more radical Muslim elements in Islamibad. For these reasons, the Pakistani government treads very softly with regard to the Taliban in Pakistan. Now, the NWFP is a semi-autonomous region and may become autonomous if the Pakistani government is not careful. But, it is not a lack of military prowess that allows this to continue, it is politics in Islamibad.
Skep41| 5.6.09 @ 11:51AM
This is starting to look like China in 1947. A determined insurgency facing a huge but torpid military and a degenerate ruling class that is blind to its own interests. Anyone who thinks that an American administration too cowardly to launch a punitive reprisal against the cockroach-like Somalia pirates, an operation well within our current resources, will take any action to deal with this situation is delusional. But once we bug-out of the region (a foregone conclusion with the Obamunists slashing and demoralizing our military) these nuked-up savages will be left to their own Islamic devices. Once they're done reducing the female half of their population to the level of livestock and murdering everyone dumb enough to work with the Great Satan at some point in the past they can get one with the work of murdering six million Jews, nuking India and each other and hopefully spreading radiation and chaos to the Russkies and Chicoms who nuked these primitive homicidal fanatics up in the first place. The crash in the world's oil supply will affect the disarmed and cowardly Euros and the Japs more than us but it will advance the Obamunist agenda of ending individual automobile ownership in this country. In a few years little will be left in the Middle East besides a few mutated nomads wandering amongst the Chinese oil rigs in the glowing radioactive desert.

Why the hell is the USA involved at all with Pakistan?
The populace there hates the USA and if they do not like the Taliban, they should mobilize the millions of Pakistani's and repel them.
It is not up to the USA to squander - yes squander - millions and millions of US taxpayer money to fill the Swiss bank acct. coffers of that corrupt country.
Let India and China worry about Pakistan.
Long long ago the USA went way off track in ignoring the wise advice of George Washington and Alexander Hamilton to NOT get involved in the affairs of foreign countries. As a result we are involved in the affairs of hundreds of countries - mosly to help them - for which we receive their hatred, dislike and enmity.
(The best example of this is France , and the Arab countries!!!)
And here we are involved with a muslim country that hates our guts.
The USA is broke !!!
Financially and morally.
We cannot afford to be the world's cop any longer nor can we afford to give billions of dollars of taxpayer money to corrupt govt's that use the money to engorge their Swiss bank accounts.
If we think Pakistan will be a threat to the USA then simply DO NOT ALLOW ANY PAKISTANI into the USA !!!!
911 was a failure of intelligence and coordination. Let's beef up our capability here as well as begin prohibiting those countries that harbor terrorists - Pakistan, the Arab countries, etc., from having their nationals enter the USA unless special policies are enacted.
Let India and China worry about Pakistan.
It's about time we mind our own business, arm ourselves to the teeth - literally, and use overwhelming and deadly force to respond to any and all threats and attacks.
So, for instance when those Somali pirates attacked that US ship, we should have given them warning - diplomatic and via aircraft dropped leaflets - that if any US ship is ever attacked again, EVERY Somali port used by the pirates, as well as any suspected pirate ship - will be totally and completely ANNIHILATED.
The Swedish model is ARMED NEUTRALITY.
The USA needs to adopt this tact and not be afraid to use overwhelming and deadly force.
The USA need only actually use this policy once. After the world knows we mean business, they will not mess with us.
For those who think this is crazy, well, how often, from 1945 till today, did terrorists (not the home grown variety) attack the Soviet Union ??
I believe the answer is ZERO !!
Everybody knew that if you messed with the Ruskies, you would wind up dead.
And the Russians did not avoid terrorist attacks because they were nice guys either.
The Pakistani's hate the US far more than they dislike their brethren, the Taliban. If Pakistan wants to go back to the 9th century, let them.
It's their business if they want to go to hell.

Dear "will you die..."
I do it because I am a human being and I actually care for my fellow man. I have seen children, innocent children, suffering from diseases we can easily prevent. I have hope that the scourge of Muslim faith can be defeated and people can once again have hope of freedom in this world. I also do it because my Christian faith asks me to live as an example of God's love to others. I can either suck up resources and live a selfish life or I can live a meaningful life and try and make this world a better place. I choose the latter. You can spout your hate all day and in the end you will just suffer alone and angry. I also suffer but my suffering will be tired bones and muscles as I worked to be part of something bigger than the purchase price of the next electronic gadget. I will die tired, just like you will; but I will die as a fulfilled soul. You, sir, will die as an empty vessle; dark and hollow inside. I pity you.
Dearest Jeff,
Thank you for the compliment.
Dear ACynic,
We are there because they have nuclear weapons. The Taliban believe in a final storm of destruction destroying two thirds of the world leaving behind only suffering and the true Muslim faith. If we do nothing they will capture the nuclear warheads and transporth them to America and Europe and detonate them. PERIOD! In what cave, specifically, have you been living? Is your Tofu spoiling and giving you digestive problems? You live on EARTH, not just in your little corner of the planet. We are all connected! Didn't your mommie teach you that? The entire planet is engaged in a war of freedom, economics and over ideology of faith. The final war has already begun and the stakes on the table are no less that the survival of the species.

1Freeman-Bravo. It is nice to see an calm, articulate response to some of the crazier posts here. As a recently retired soldier and still associated civil servant, I see (daily) the awesome displays of conviction and love of country still present in the Army. These are not the soldiers of the 80's (when I first signed on) that are only interested in a college fund, but informed and intelligent citizen soldiers. Be very proud of our men and women in uniform for they are doing the lions share of protecting our liberties.
We need to follow up that example and take a page from the statists playbook by becoming active and forceful in defending our liberty at home. Attending local government meetings, supporting like-minded politicians with more than a checkbook wave and teaching our youth. Those are the ways to safeguard our inalienable rights.

Boy, things are shaping right up.
Three Anglo-Afghan wars in the 19th century (with successful enough results for the British, following each one: Disasters and ‘graveyard of empires’ are sensationalized misinformation).
The Punjab conquered and absorbed in a little more than a decade, once things got rolling, following acquisition of Aden colony in 1837: Complete by about 1849.
The East India Company government was absorbed as the India Office of the British goverment, 1858-1948.
British Bengal, expanded, and formed into partitioned Bengal and over 540 states, all unified into a super-dominion in 1947, and then partitioned into two autonomous dominions, in three parts, and six confusing states, under King George VI in 1947.
The British Empire of India (1878-1948), George’s title of Emperor of India, Vicky having been the first empress, was ended in 1948 (what spanned from the Red Sea, Aden Colony (present-day Yemen) to Burma (present-day Myanmar), south to British Malaya, Singapore and Borneo (present-day British Commonwealth Malaysia and Singapore and Indonesia).
British successes, 1791-1948: Include confused border demarcations and the “Golden Triangle’s” opium poppy cultivation.
Thank you Britain for pioneering the international drug trade?
Marxist Communist Russia (the U.S.S.R.) took up Kipling’s “white man’s burden” in Afghanistan, about 1978-89 withdrawing when it chose to do so; its troops forming into columns and withdrawing like soldiers: No chaotic spectacles like British Aden colony, 1967, or Saigon, 1975).
Then Saudi Arabia, Pakistan (A.K.A. the Muslim Raj), Russia and India (A.K.A. the Hindu Raj), took over the work in Afghanistan, via surrogates, 1992-2001 Lord Curzon would be proud of what his work became in Inja and the region, not the least in the Persian Gulf and Tibet, no?).
And now comes the Americans trooping about in British Commonwealth territories, with ‘General David’ the new successor to the Anglo-Irishmen: Field Marshall Napier and Field Marshall Lord Roberts of Kandahar.
(Success beyond the wildest dreams and schemes of the two Pitts or Rhodes!)
Britons and Commonwealth subjects provide some minor assistance, even though it is, after all, Queen Liz II’s Commonwealth, with 53 autonomous dominions by 2005, and over a billion subjects . . . . (A.K.A. the “independent nations of the British Commonwealth of Nations”).
No wonder Queen Liz II ordered the band to play the Star Spangled Banner in 2001.
(don't worry, if there is a general war on the continent of Asia, then it will be Asians, not Americans who will do the bulk of the ground fighting: Commonwealth Asians included).
Of course there’s no question but that the prayers of The American Spectator “information warriors” are going out for the operators (A.K.A. pilots) controlling the drones in Pakistan who are sitting in the control centers here in the U.S.A. Our dedicated “warriors” ho are braving the risks of carpal tunnel syndrome (My gosh, I bet it makes the “information warriors” proud to call themselves ‘mericans. . .).

I have also heard that there is a plot to use Syria against Iran, and Iran against Russia, and Russia will be attacked also, I imagine that it's about America idea of destablisation of the whole Middle East, and destablisation of Russia in simple terms.
I also heard that if this is followed through that The UK would be attacked.
None of what is going on is good, all Americans think they are fighting a war on Terror, but lack the wisdom to realise, its a war on hamanity.
A war on civilization, tools Recession, Depression, Closures of large companies, creating unemployment, in America and Europe an a huge scale, creating poverty such as not seen since the days of Charles Dickens. Flood the streets and towns with Drugs, creating the kind of Drugs war that has been going on in Mexico all across America and Europe.
The people of the third world will just be allowed to starve to death, they have the land but dont grow any food they rely on Aid. By the time they wake up they are living in Famine.
Foot & Mouth disease, un-leashed on Farmers in Europe, and disease in America will cause death amongst farm animals. The disease that is killing the Bee population, will cause crops not to be polleninated and crops will fail, and disease will get the rest, and shortage of water, and drought, will take out millions in the third world.
People will want to sell houses and move but no one will have the money to buy them. You will have to walk away and leave them. Detroit is a place you could buy a home for less than $5000, because there is no Jobs, whole towns and Cities will become desolate. It's coming, and people will still be fighting about the Demcrats and the Republicans, if these people could really solve problems don't you think they would to win support? it's because they can't, they have no answer to the world problems. And they can't deal with it, if they did they would end up like JFK and Lincoln, shot dead. One has to try to imagine the MAFIA, and how their organisation works, and what they do to people who don't follow orders. America has been hyjacked by criminals, and no one knows who they are.
And while you can go to the Movies, and allow yourselves to be brainwashed you'll never know who they are. They seem like sweetness and light, but are wolves in sheeps clothing.

=>President Obama and the Punjab
It is tiresome to hear President Obama mis-pronouncing the name Pakistan, as he did the whole time during his pseudo-On The Job Training (OJT) of February 2007-November 2008.
Obama’s: Pah-kee-stawn.
The name Pakistan was concocted by the India Office of the British government at Whitehall, in the 1930s.
This was pre-1970s-onward standardization of international spelling and pronunciation (a standardization of the “trans-literation,” if one prefers).
For example: In British Bengal, Cawnpore hadn’t been re-spelled Kanpur at the time that Pakistan was concocted (and as it is now spelled in India).
Kanpur is just a different spelling of the SAME name. The name of the city hasn't changed at all. It has the same name that is pronounced the same way, when spoken, as it has always been pronounced in the spoken word, whether spelled as Kanpur or Cawnpore.
Two different spellings, and different rules of pronunciation associated with each different spelling, leading to the same spoken pronunciation.
Cawnpore is the anglicized spelling, pronounced phonetically, and the latter is the new international standard: where a is pronounced ah and u is pronounced oo).
Pakistan is not pronounced as Pah-kee-stawn. An Anglo-African American as intelligent as Obama is, should do better.
Especially one who is Commander-In-Chief of the urbanized-&-rootless American Hatfields, McCoys & Webbs trooping about in the British Commonwealth country, thereby facilitating the brutal de-culturization of its peoples and the development of Lines of Communications (in the military sense of the word; ports, road, rail, air, pipeline, information-communications technologies, print, broadcast, closed-circuit, satellite, submarine cable. . . ), from the Persian Gulf and North Arabian Sea, across, the Indian peninsula, north into, across, & through Afghanistan, and north into the Russian -Stans and west through the Caucasus and into eastern Europe (and then to the Greater World beyond. . .).

=>"Kurrachee Needs More Curzons"
Kurrachee versus Kurachi would have been the better example of spelling changes, of the names of cities on the Indian peninsula, but same pronunciation, in this instance.
Kurrachee was the old anglicized spelling (pronounced phonetically in English English).
Kurachi is the new international standardized spelling scheme (with i pronounced as ee, as in feet).
The slogan "Kurrachee Needs More Curzons," sprawled across a banner, strung across an avenue, greeted George Lord Curzon, Viceroy of India (1895-1905), on one of his visits to the city.
[Kurachi was the spelling when I was there, but there were no "Kurachi Needs More Crowleys" banners greeting my arrival (I wasn't surprised; I'm not now; and I'm not complaining. . . .)]
Kurrachee was the spelling at the time that the name Pakistan was concocted by the India Office of the British government at Whitehall, in the 1930s; a good decade-and-a-half before the new dominion of Pakistan was formally established (in 1947).
Pakistan is not pronounced as Pah-kee-stawn.

=>“Kurachi Needs More Crowleys" (the banner that never was).
Even recognizing that it is obviously mis-information propagandized to whip up and mislead the American population, and in spite of over six years of it, it is still mind-boggling to hear the sensationalizing being made by our government.
Government announcements of round-the-clock meetings over the situation in Pakistan is something mind-boggling to hear!
The latest in the long and ever-growing list of mind-boggling NONSENSE of our Global War On Terror (GWOT)-become-Overseas Contingency Operations (OCO) era of the past seven-and-a-half years (the past six-and-a-half being the worst of it and the past four years reaching Frenzy-Of-The-Absurd levels (foreign and domestic).
Obviously, there is going to be no end to the sensationalized absurdities of National Security and Climate Change Crises.
They’re being steadily ramped up and made worse.
Pakistan?
I’ve known plenty of Pakistanis over the past four decades, professional and non-professions, military, technicians, scientists, engineers. I’ve liked most that I’ve known: In general, I’ve found Pakistanis to be very intelligent, very capable, and very courteous people.
Coup d’etats?
Hey, it’s Pakistan, for goodness sake.
Kurachi?
No "Kurachi Needs More Crowleys" banner when I was there, but there was some violence during the crisis period of 1979-85, including the bombing of the
American embassy (less-than a year after I’d sat and had beer in it).
Security on navy guided missile destroyers and cruisers on port call at Kurachi (a secure port) at the time: Forecastle and fantail sentries, armed with M-14 rifles, rover and Petty Officer of the Watch armed with .45 cal. pistols, and two .50 cal M-1 machine guns, emplaced behind sandbags, set up at 2 locations, with overlapping fields of fire (and with M-69 grenades launchers), with ready-service ammunition.
The USS Cole incident in 2000, and the need to re- teach American sailors of the Bush-Clinton-Bush navy techniques that American sailors were once competent in, are still inexcusable (it was Department of Defense policies that led to the situation, the same kind of policies, 1946-48; 1954-58; 1971-75).
It was used as an excuse for government funding to kick off the building up of the new mercenary company, Blackwater international.
The Af-Pak OCO?
Even with all of the absurdities of the past six-and-a-half years, government announcements of round-the-clock meetings over the situation in Pakistan is still something that is mind-boggling to hear.
->Pah-Kee-Stawn
Between Cawnpore and Kurrachee versus Kanpur and Kurachi, the explanations of the pronunciations in the international standardized spelling scheme (a as ah; u as oo; and i as ee), then one can see the basis of President Obama's bizarre pronunciation of 1930s-British-government-coined Pakistan as Pah-kee-stawn.
To quote George Orwell, regarding Obama's absurd pronunciation: "I understand HOW: I do not understand WHY." Although, I haved a suspicion. We'll just have to wait and see. . .
With the mental intelligence of our Anglo-African American president, his father having been a chosen tribal member of an African tribe in her majesty’s Crown Colony of Kenya, British East Africa, his staffs, and his extensive travels. . .
Then one can only wonder why this absurd pronunciation?
What is the point that will probably be made and what lesson will we all be expected to learn from it?
What a rotten, corrupt, lying and filthy government (National Security Council, via departments of State and Defense) we have in the U.S.A. now.
Crooked-as-a-dog's-hind-leg.
And we Americans, and the whole world, have to now suffer under IT.

What do you know about, the Khazars. You have a great understanding ot the Pakistani History.
When India and Pakistan were split up to form two seperate countries, had much to do with Religion.
The problems faced by Pakistan and India, the West wants to use Pakistan to destablise India. The CIA will play a part in setting up false flag attacks to fire up the regional problems.
The Iraq war, planned from the 1990's, but had to have a problem to sell to the masses, they used the Attacks on Sept 11th, to sell it to the world, even though Iraq had nothing to do with Sept 11th, the spin went on to sell the fact Saddam was killing his own people, he was able to do that because America sold Chemical & Biological weapons to kill the Kurds.
Saddam was more stupid than anything else, he did not realise he was being used to keep the Middleast destablised, with the attacks on the Iranians, using the Chemical and Biological weapons sold to him by the United States.
Saddam got the go ahead to attack Kuwait, once he invaded it gave America a reason to attack. Many people are still suffering from Gulf War Syndrome. Now there are people coming back from Iraq with mental illness, from the crimes they have to live with.
American Allies, are no longer fond of American attitudes, the people who are fighting with America are people who would rather be friends with America, but their foreigh policies makes it impossible.
Obama has no foreign policies of his own, Obama is continuning the same Bush Policies. Which leads me to think that Bush never had a policy nor does Obama, but a policy from the inner circle, of the world wide NWO fantasy.
We are at the end of the line, not because we had to be, but because we have lost control, by Religion, and lack of understanding, and the failure to read and understand where we are in history, and lock of ability to seperate facts from fiction.
Europeans stole the land of America from the Red Indians, and now support the land of Palestine to be stolen by the Ashkanazi Jews from Russia, who were Pagans, who chose the Jewish faith, because if they did'nt, they would have been attacked by the Christians, if they chose Muslims they would have been attacked by the Christians. This is a Pagan tribe called the thirteenth tribe, from Russia, they adopted the Jewish faith, but are like fish, all fish in the sea is not salmon, its all about survival.
They chose a King, King Bulin. The people in Israel has no connection to the Arab world what so ever These people are like chalk and cheese. America is being bestroyed by these people in the Banking system, the Political system, and the Military system. Thus the entire United States of America is to be ruined. The Christians do not realise they are supporting a Pagan custom.
All who supports Israel will be blessed, not true all who support Israel will be distroyed. Because they are evil, they supported a false god, and pagan practices.

Hi Welcome to the real world:
Thanks for the compliment, but it’s not true that I have a great understanding of Pakistani History. That’s not a claim that I would ever make.

The English governemt has 438 years' experience in what is now dubbed Social Engineering (manipulating peoples' cultures, including their own). Forced relocations of peoples, and the experience goes back to at least the early 1600s in the Persian Gulf and north Arabian Sea (effectively as contractors to the Persians in the forceful removal of the Portuguese).
Manipulation of religions and native cultures is an old practice. Creating kingdoms and empires out of tribes is also an old practice ('first nations'). Conquest by Rule By Law is an especial British specialty.
It's no secret that religion has much to do with the British reforming of the Indian peninsula in 1947. It was, and has been, too obvious. The re-formaton of the princely states, 1791-1947, always had religion heavily factored in, usually on a divide and conquer basis, for greater ease of control.
British Bengal, and over 540 princely states, all unified into a super-dominion in 1947, and then subsequently partitioned into two autonomous dominions (India and Pakistan), in three parts (India, West Pakistan and East Pakistan), and six confusing states. All done in a matter of only months in 1947.
The French and Portuguese states were later absorbed by India.
Obviously, Kashmir, a majority Moslem state under Hindu rulers, is still a problem. Geography factors in also in the dispute.
=>“The problems faced by Pakistan and India, the West wants to use Pakistan to destablise India.”
I don’t believe that this is true at all.
The U.S.A., Japan, Britain and the EU are actually building up India, industrially and militarily. The U.S.A. and Japan have been doing so for over 40 years, especially after the British withdrawal of its naval and military garrisons from ‘East of Suez,’ 1967-71.
Indian industrial development accelerated following the end of the Cold War (1946-89), especially 1993-98. Both industrial and military development has accelerated even more, 2000-present.
Russia has been involved with India also, both during and after the Cold War.
Pakistan has also been developed militarily, especially via the U.S.A., for over 40 years.
Crisis-Anniversary wise, involving these two British Commonwealth countries, then we’ll be coming up on the anniversary of one of the numerous post-1947 Indian-Pakistani wars and the end of East Pakistan (present-day Bangladesh) soon. . . However, the Nixon administration didn’t announce round-the-clock meetings due to the events at the time.
Geez, even the Clinton administration didn’t announce round-the-clock meetings such as the Obama administration has sensationalized due to the confrontation between the two ten years ago.

Hi Welcome to the real world:
At first, I mistook your question for Kazakhstan.
About 7 years ago, with the advent of the rapid post-conglomeration reforms (capitalizing on ‘synergy’s’), then I joked with another engineer that work on the Texaco pipeline project through Kazakhstan (positions for which were being advertised) was beginning to look tempting. . . He laughed (I was only joking around). I’m glad that I never took that
seriously (and had little idea at the time, why)!
But, I realize that you’re not referring to Kazakhstan, but, rather, something BOTH more ancient, and new, where the Caucasus is concerned.
I’m aware of Arthur Koestler’s premise that the majority of Jews are not really Jewish.
My familiarity with Koestler is more with some of his writings on totalitarianism.
I am aware that he was a Jew who was a Marxist Communist for 7 years (1931-38), abandoned the Comintern, and then became a fervent Zionist, and then abandoned Zionism in 1949. From Socialist Internationalism to nationalism to individualism in 18 years' time.
Like George Orwell, he wrote bleak depressing fiction about totalitarianism. Orwell refers to Koestler in some of his writings.
Koestler then later came up with his premise that the majority of eastern European Jews are not really Jewish, but are actually descended from an eastern European people from the Caucasus, which he named as Khazars. Of course, the Khazars are well outside modern and medieval history and go back at least about 14 centuries or more, if I remember correctly.
So, effectively he declared that he believed himself and the majority of Ashkenazi Jews to be descendants of these ancient “Khazars.” Not the 'seed of Abraham,' but gentile converts to Judaism.
I’ve noticed that this has popped up in essays on the internet in at least the past four years. One Jewish writer I saw, who in an essay declared that he believed himself to be a "Khazar," ended his essay with: “Next year in Kiev!” Which struck at me, as purely the kind of sense of humor that many Jewish writers, actors and comedians have always had. Whether Jew or “Khazar,” it was a clever and funny way to end his essay.
To be honest, I’ve never taken this seriously, and still don’t.
At the same time, it boggles me to hear reformed Protestants and Catholics make absurd statements, such that the present-day country of Israel is "God's chosen people." Absolutely rediculous!
The variation on the theme of the old millennialist Christian heresies associated with this and popularized in the post-Cold War years is bizarre: The self-labeled pre-millennialist's re-establishment of the temple stuff . Christ is going to return so as to offer animal sacrifices from present-day Jerusalem, for the next 1,000 years???!!!!
To Himself?
And these sad post-1989-version-of-the-Moody-Bible-Institute malformed individuals call themselves Christian!!!?
This version really was not common in the pre-Cold War era of the Jesus Movement, 1966-89.
Back then it was symbology from the Apocalypse of St. John (A.K.A. The Book of Revelation), ratonalized on a Cold War theme, such as an eagle representing the U.S.A., a bear representing the U.S.S.R., locusts representing helicopters and Armageddon being a nuclear war. A variation of this old Cold War version, 1966-89, may return yet. . .
But it actually looks like the the only thing that’s going to be Left Behind is this miserable Rapture rubbish we've been plagued by, whichever variation, since it began to be popularized, nation-wide, about 1969 to present.
Now the Congregatoinal Protestants are being reformed to be more useful: Living their Purpose Driven Lives. . .
We'll have to just wait and see. . .
I don't knock the individuals. Most are decent, sincere people. But, I detest the organizations who are misleading and mal-forming them.

@Aaron (What is really interesting is that the only fix for Pakistan is for them and India to hash out their problems once and for all.) -- Actually this is a ""MYTH"", Islamic R. Of Pakistan, would not even stand as ONE nation if it becomes a friend to India, because,
1> there is no ONE flavor of Islam like in Middle-East in Pakistan
2> Huge sentiments of regionalism prevails and are often very hostile with each other
3> perhaps, first and only cast based Islamic Society
4> Several languages, inherited from India
5> Different Cultural Identities, again unlike any other Islamic countries. e.g a Pashtun and a Mohajirs are very hostile to each other in cities like Karachi & Peshawar.
etc.
Since it was built in the name of Islam and a land other than but out of India, It always remained in a race with India to prove (its) History right. Also, these are the only two factors can keep Pakistan together & no wonder, this has been the Foreign Policy all over the years.
Pakistani People are very much like Indians, but to keep them separate as one country, the leaders of this country always charge them with anti-Indian sentiments(kind of Superiority Complex), that also, vindicate them of providing basic necessities, in short Look India, drink India, eat India, & everything India, but at last don't forget to Blame India when anything fails or runs short, and that was the only popular public movement till recently (or before long march for Chief justice).
No Wonder if you have ever seen a Govt/ Military Official statements categorizing another country as ENEMY NUMBER 1 :-)
Being an Indian (as many are), Its feels like your neighbor is standing on his gate and staring at you for 62 years :-), damn!!
thanks for reading!!

The Indians and Pakistanis are like two children who can't or won't get along or just leave each other alone. Know why so many educated Indians and Pakistanis come to the US? It's because, even though their hearts are at Home, they realize that the childish madness will never stop. Well, it'll stop when, in a fit of pique, they nuke each other, God forbid.
