Obama will offer instructions on everything from tires to
hygiene, but abortion is still above his pay grade.
Public life in America resembled a pre-school classroom this
week: the President informed citizens to "wash your hands" and
"cover your mouth when you cough," while alleged adults at CNN
hoisted up letter-grade placards at the prompting of Anderson
Cooper and Wolf Blitzer: "What grade would you give President
Obama for…?"
What grade would you give President Obama for financing the
killing of unborn children at home and abroad, Gloria? That
question never came, but he deserved at least a few gold stars
from Begala, Borger and Gergen. Indeed, one would have to give
him an A+ for corroding "the character" of the country, to borrow
his phrase from Wednesday night's press conference. (George W.
Bush did that, Obama implied, by treating terrorists like swine.)
Meanwhile, Joe Biden, concerned about the spread of the swine flu
virus, told NBC's Matt Lauer on Thursday morning, "I wouldn't go
anywhere in confined places now." Apparently Biden has finally
found the crisis within six months he promised during the
campaign.
Change your tires regularly, wear a condom, avoid Puerto Vallarta
-- this administration is certainly looking out for the American
people. But President Obama remains diffident about giving advice
on the issue of abortion, at least advice that could save lives.
Cover your mouth when you cough, he tells citizens, but ask your
doctor if you should kill your baby, for "doctors" somehow are in
a better position to judge the justice of it than "members of
Congress or a president of the United States." Who knew Obama was
capable of such a modest understanding of the federal
government's authority and wisdom?
Did his answer to the abortion question at Wednesday's press
conference contain a single honest word? I wonder about even the
thes and the ands. The more garbled his syntax, the more you know
he is lying through his teeth: "You know, the -- my view on --
abortion, I think has been very consistent."
Then he proceeded to offer a slew of inconsistencies. The
"Freedom of Choice Act is not my highest legislative priority";
he had told Planned Parenthood during the campaign that signing
FOCA was the "first thing" he wanted to do. "I think abortion is
a moral issue and an ethical issue"; a few moments later he
treated it primarily as a medical issue. "The reason I'm
pro-choice is because I don't think women take that -- that
position casually"; moments later he said he is pro-abortion
because he considers it a right. Whether women view abortion
casually or not is, therefore, irrelevant to him. "I think that
those who are pro-choice make a mistake when they -- if they
suggest -- and I don't want to create straw men here, but I think
there are some who suggest that this is simply an issue about
women's freedom and that there's no other considerations." Some
who suggest? Yes, they are on your staff.
Obama considers the waterboarding of murderers an evil beyond
debate, but regards the aborting of pre-born children as "an
issue that people have to wrestle with and families and
individual women have to wrestle with." As far as I can tell,
there is no wrestling over the issue in his mind at all; babies
are down for the count. No Geneva Convention protections for
them.
CNN's Happy Jack Squirrel time aside, Obama's first 100 days have
been despicable, a long opening stride towards tyranny. And
millions of Americans just don't care. It is no wonder Obama
talks to them like propagandized pre-schoolers.

SLG: ALL of the items you list are of equal importance (to me at
least). Right or wrong, when one writes an article, it's best to
pick a topic and stay with it. The topic in this article just so
happens to be Obama's radical pro-abortion stance. It would
literally take a novel to list all of his radical and socialist
views.
It drives me nuts when people accuse conservatives of caring
about only 1 or 2 issues. That is certainly not the case. I would
remind you, however that the unalienable rights endowed by our
creator start with LIFE: liberty and the pursuit of happiness
follow the first. I believe that is because without the first,
the others are not possible.
Furthermore, I don't recall anyone telling you to "shut up",
unless I missed a post. I certainly wouldn't. Free speech is one
of the most valuable rights we have. Remember, it would not exist
in your world had your mother made a choice other than the one
she made.
I think the article is a good one. Sadly, the liberals in this
country prefer to offer more rights to convicted murderers and
terrorists than they would offer an unborn human being. That is a
true statement. I welcome your rebuttal to it, but please provide
proof.
I think I'll call my mother now and thank her for making the
"choice" she did :)

increase abortion is too much to fathom. He's a fascist monster!
Sheryl| 5.1.09 @ 10:56AM
I haven't quite figured out what got SLG in such a lather, but
this article never says that nothing matters besides abortion. I
think it should be pointed out, though, that while many other
issues are very important, if we do not have the right to life,
the most basic right of all, we have no rights at all. No one has
a right to be "pro-choice" regarding the taking of someone else's
life. Mr. Obama imagines every other issue in the world to be
well within his "pay grade." I'm not sure why figuring out that
people have a fundamental right to not have their lives stolen
from them is above that "grade."
JP| 5.1.09 @ 11:14AM
SLG,
In 1945-46 when much of the world was literally starving, and
dieing in horrific fashion, the Supreme Command of Europe and the
State Department began an very lengthy and expensive
investigation of the murder of 6 million Jews. While this was
going on, Communist riots and insurrections were occuring in
France, Italy, and Greece. Palestine was in civil war, Indo-China
had a full blown revolution as did China and parts of North
Africa.
In the US, a very sharp recession was taking hold as millions of
vets were returning and the DOD was dis-arming.
With all of these problems, why in the world would the US and
Great Britain care if a few million Jews were murdered? The
Soviets at the time refused to stand-down thier 320 combat
divisions in Europe (roughly 3 million men, 25000 tanks, and
100,000 guns). With the Soviets poised to "finish the job", why
do you think Truman and his State Dept risk diplomacy
investigating Nazis atrocities?
In 3 years some 50 million babies were violently butchered. I
think a nation that can do that has more problems than what you
describe. Truman knew that Justice is the foundation of any
civilization. What we are doing now is not only unjust, but
barbaric. A nation that can slaughter its own children is capable
of any sin.
If our President doesn't give a frogs fat ass about the right to
life of the most innocent members of our society, why should he
care anything about YOUR rights? The same lying politician who
believes that children who survive an abortion should be left to
die also believes that terrorists who slaughter Americans should
be allowed to live...do you really think that this same slimeball
is going to care about your rights to free speech or self
defense? Do you think he cares whether illegal aliens steal your
job, sell drugs to your kids or cancel out your vote? For that
matter, do you notice there are NO Dems or libs out there arguing
that the President should stop "obessing" with abortion and get
on with socializing the banks or sucking up to the bomb throwers
in Iran?
The libs understand that all these issues are inextricably
linked; that's why they proceed forward on all issues and all
fronts at all times. We conservatives must do no less.

David| 5.1.09 @ 3:43PM
SLG, Big J has it right. A person's right to life IS the most
important issue. Protecting the lives of the weakest among us
should be our number one concern. There are many issues important
to conservatives, but somehow, my pocket book and how full it is
just doesn't seem quite as important as taking innocent life.
Carpenter| 5.1.09 @ 4:25PM
SLG, I can almost sympathize. A few weeks ago George Will, a very
well known columnist with some conservative credentials, wrote an
article bemoaning the predominance of blue denim trousers in
American society. I felt a small piece of the lather you seem to
be in at that time, considering the grave issues that are all
around us. Of course, some might argue that an obsession with
other people's garment choices at a time when the world is
smouldering and our great nation is stumbling towards socialized
ruin is unworthy of a serious political writer. Well, SLG, George
Will may be heading in the direction of Maureen Dowd or Paul
Begala, Olberman or Matthews, but this matter is really worth
having a clear opinion about, as well as many of the issues you
have raised. As Mark Steyn puts it, "the future belongs to those
who turn up for it" . If we continue to countenance our genocidal
abortion policy, and allow it to be sanitized by referring to it
as "choice", we really don't need to wonder what the future will
look like. It will be ugly.

that’s much akin to Whistling In The (proverbial) Dark, AKA

Like, let’s agree, nobody (with the exception of a few deranged
wackos) really likes abortion, right? Hence SLG’s point:
Misplaced priorities. Get the tough stuff fixed and maybe win a
few elections. Then try going after your arch-nemesis, abortion.
Or “choice.”
But, there again, there have been bombings, a few arson attempts

vehemently are just going to continue ranting and not exert
themselves further.

SLG, what you seem to be failing to grasp is that we are all
working together to defeat the Community Organizer and his
minions on ALL of these subjects, and that we can reverse his
murderous policies on abortion at the same time. That is what we
will be doing in the next two elections: replacing first his
enablers in Congress, then replacing him. And we will do this
with candidates who are pro-liberty, pro-capitalism, pro-defense,
and pro-life all at the same time.
It's voters like you who have me worried, though. November will
roll around, and you'll be saying how much you want to strip
Obama of power, but those fool Republicans have sided with the
unborn again, so you just can't bring yourself to pull the
opposition lever. And then you'll blame us. Reflect, and persuade
yourself that that would be a grave error.
As for our friend David Mathews, he says "You voted for George W.
Bush, right? You loved Sarah Palin, right?" as though those are
bad things. Looking back, I see George W. Bush winning two
elections, presiding over nearly seven years of prosperity
(brought down in the end only by the machinations of the
Democrats), and keeping the country safe and strong, even to the
point of finally persuading our often reluctant allies, who
responded by electing new conservative governments more in line
with our own. Looking ahead, I see Sarah Palin or someone like
her picking up the pieces of our wrecked republic once we have
chased this mistake-in-chief out of office.
Come on, SLG, let's all do this together. The weeping from the
David Mathewses of the world alone would make it worth it.

SLG: ALL of the items you list are of equal importance (to me at least). Right or wrong, when one writes an article, it's best to pick a topic and stay with it. The topic in this article just so happens to be Obama's radical pro-abortion stance. It would literally take a novel to list all of his radical and socialist views.
It drives me nuts when people accuse conservatives of caring about only 1 or 2 issues. That is certainly not the case. I would remind you, however that the unalienable rights endowed by our creator start with LIFE: liberty and the pursuit of happiness follow the first. I believe that is because without the first, the others are not possible.
Furthermore, I don't recall anyone telling you to "shut up", unless I missed a post. I certainly wouldn't. Free speech is one of the most valuable rights we have. Remember, it would not exist in your world had your mother made a choice other than the one she made.
I think the article is a good one. Sadly, the liberals in this country prefer to offer more rights to convicted murderers and terrorists than they would offer an unborn human being. That is a true statement. I welcome your rebuttal to it, but please provide proof.
I think I'll call my mother now and thank her for making the "choice" she did :)

Dave, give it up. You won't be able to trademark or copyright "politically irrelevant extremist minority" even if you do repeat it over and over and over and over and over and...
Little t| 5.1.09 @ 10:19AM
Well, it's actually worse than that.
In his opposition to the Born Alive Infants Protection Act, Obama showed his unwillingness to extend basic protections to babies born alive during an attempted abortion.
JJ JR| 5.1.09 @ 10:21AM
Y'all,
Three cheers for Mr. Neumayr's intellect as aptly displayed in this article. The paradox and grotesqueness of Obamanation providing Constitutional protections to terrorists who would incinerate us all in second while doing EVERYTHING imaginable to increase abortion is too much to fathom. He's a fascist monster!
Sheryl| 5.1.09 @ 10:56AM
I haven't quite figured out what got SLG in such a lather, but this article never says that nothing matters besides abortion. I think it should be pointed out, though, that while many other issues are very important, if we do not have the right to life, the most basic right of all, we have no rights at all. No one has a right to be "pro-choice" regarding the taking of someone else's life. Mr. Obama imagines every other issue in the world to be well within his "pay grade." I'm not sure why figuring out that people have a fundamental right to not have their lives stolen from them is above that "grade."

SLG,
In 1945-46 when much of the world was literally starving, and dieing in horrific fashion, the Supreme Command of Europe and the State Department began an very lengthy and expensive investigation of the murder of 6 million Jews. While this was going on, Communist riots and insurrections were occuring in France, Italy, and Greece. Palestine was in civil war, Indo-China had a full blown revolution as did China and parts of North Africa.
In the US, a very sharp recession was taking hold as millions of vets were returning and the DOD was dis-arming.
With all of these problems, why in the world would the US and Great Britain care if a few million Jews were murdered? The Soviets at the time refused to stand-down thier 320 combat divisions in Europe (roughly 3 million men, 25000 tanks, and 100,000 guns). With the Soviets poised to "finish the job", why do you think Truman and his State Dept risk diplomacy investigating Nazis atrocities?
In 3 years some 50 million babies were violently butchered. I think a nation that can do that has more problems than what you describe. Truman knew that Justice is the foundation of any civilization. What we are doing now is not only unjust, but barbaric. A nation that can slaughter its own children is capable of any sin.
Son Of Sam| 5.1.09 @ 11:59AM
Hello SLG,
If our President doesn't give a frogs fat ass about the right to life of the most innocent members of our society, why should he care anything about YOUR rights? The same lying politician who believes that children who survive an abortion should be left to die also believes that terrorists who slaughter Americans should be allowed to live...do you really think that this same slimeball is going to care about your rights to free speech or self defense? Do you think he cares whether illegal aliens steal your job, sell drugs to your kids or cancel out your vote? For that matter, do you notice there are NO Dems or libs out there arguing that the President should stop "obessing" with abortion and get on with socializing the banks or sucking up to the bomb throwers in Iran?
The libs understand that all these issues are inextricably linked; that's why they proceed forward on all issues and all fronts at all times. We conservatives must do no less.
stay strong until freedom dawns

This Administration has shown the nation and the world just how incredibly ignorant and inept they are. If I were not a native citizen of this land... I would think this is all great comedy....but being who and what I am I can see it as nothing short of catastrophic tragedy.
If we had a parliamentary form of government.... I am willing to bet my left gonad that we would be having a vote of no confidence / recall election within 90 days..... sadly we do not have this option.

Copperhead David Matthews regales us with ever-so-insightful wisdom. Here's the executive summary: "Blah blah blah". Turn the page, David. We've heard that same blather for eight years.
Here's the real point: David, you didn't address a single point in the article or anyone's post. By any measure, that qualifies your post as just "background noise". Is that your escape from the reality of the evil of abortion? Come on, David: answer up: which babies are okay to kill?
David| 5.1.09 @ 3:43PM
SLG, Big J has it right. A person's right to life IS the most important issue. Protecting the lives of the weakest among us should be our number one concern. There are many issues important to conservatives, but somehow, my pocket book and how full it is just doesn't seem quite as important as taking innocent life.
Carpenter| 5.1.09 @ 4:25PM
SLG, I can almost sympathize. A few weeks ago George Will, a very well known columnist with some conservative credentials, wrote an article bemoaning the predominance of blue denim trousers in American society. I felt a small piece of the lather you seem to be in at that time, considering the grave issues that are all around us. Of course, some might argue that an obsession with other people's garment choices at a time when the world is smouldering and our great nation is stumbling towards socialized ruin is unworthy of a serious political writer. Well, SLG, George Will may be heading in the direction of Maureen Dowd or Paul Begala, Olberman or Matthews, but this matter is really worth having a clear opinion about, as well as many of the issues you have raised. As Mark Steyn puts it, "the future belongs to those who turn up for it" . If we continue to countenance our genocidal abortion policy, and allow it to be sanitized by referring to it as "choice", we really don't need to wonder what the future will look like. It will be ugly.

And speaking of lightweight, intellect-free irrelevance, it is great to see David Matthews' comments again.

Is anyone surprised that an arrogant liberal suffering from NPD would treat Americans like pre-schoolers? How soon do you think he'll be lecturing us on why its in our best interest to wipe his ass with our laws and Constitution?
As for BO's mindless drones (Tom Paine, Dave Matthews and all the other mind numb Democrats who defend BO's excesses) they can kiss my oh so fit derriere.

Americans are just relieved and overjoyed to watch a president speak smoothly after eight years of mush-mouth Dubya.
We marvel at the wine-like flow of rhetoric and the handsome visage of Obama.

Great article. Anything and everything to deconstruct any semblance of a family-based society will in the end be its downfall. At least Mr. Obama is consistent in that!

Public life in America resembled a pre-school classroom this week: the President informed citizens to "wash your hands" and "cover your mouth when you cough," while alleged adults at CNN hoisted up letter-grade placards at the prompting of Anderson Cooper and Wolf Blitzer: "What grade would you give President Obama for…?"
I'm going to be laughing my ass off when your family gets the pig flu, George.

Righteous indignation? Preaching to the choir? Knocking y’r head against the wall in masochistic fashion? WASTING EVERYBODY’S TIME - - except the zealots who thrive on anti-abortion ranting?
That sure seems to be the response to SLG’s earlier comments. Face it, with the present Marxist bunch, you’re sure not going to get any laws changed. With the courts’ compositions, ditto. So, that’s much akin to Whistling In The (proverbial) Dark, AKA Wasting Everybody’s Time.
With, as he/she illustrated rather eloquently, so many other more critical problems facing our poor country, the zealotry of the extreme “social conservative” faction is almost unfathomable. Almost.
Like, let’s agree, nobody (with the exception of a few deranged wackos) really likes abortion, right? Hence SLG’s point: Misplaced priorities. Get the tough stuff fixed and maybe win a few elections. Then try going after your arch-nemesis, abortion. Or “choice.”
But, there again, there have been bombings, a few arson attempts and even shootings – so, let’s hope that those who object so vehemently are just going to continue ranting and not exert themselves further.
the-gunslinger| 5.2.09 @ 1:07PM
Get the feds out of housing, mortgages, education, medicine, farming, welfare, pork-barrel spending, the market, the economy, etc...and they could concentrate on the ONE job they're supposed to be doing: defense & borders.
Every problem we've got can be traced to Big Government. Time to cut it down to size. Bickering about individual issues can make us lose sight of the big picture, the big problem...which is big government.

SLG, what you seem to be failing to grasp is that we are all working together to defeat the Community Organizer and his minions on ALL of these subjects, and that we can reverse his murderous policies on abortion at the same time. That is what we will be doing in the next two elections: replacing first his enablers in Congress, then replacing him. And we will do this with candidates who are pro-liberty, pro-capitalism, pro-defense, and pro-life all at the same time.
It's voters like you who have me worried, though. November will roll around, and you'll be saying how much you want to strip Obama of power, but those fool Republicans have sided with the unborn again, so you just can't bring yourself to pull the opposition lever. And then you'll blame us. Reflect, and persuade yourself that that would be a grave error.
As for our friend David Mathews, he says "You voted for George W. Bush, right? You loved Sarah Palin, right?" as though those are bad things. Looking back, I see George W. Bush winning two elections, presiding over nearly seven years of prosperity (brought down in the end only by the machinations of the Democrats), and keeping the country safe and strong, even to the point of finally persuading our often reluctant allies, who responded by electing new conservative governments more in line with our own. Looking ahead, I see Sarah Palin or someone like her picking up the pieces of our wrecked republic once we have chased this mistake-in-chief out of office.
Come on, SLG, let's all do this together. The weeping from the David Mathewses of the world alone would make it worth it.

Regarding the dichotomy of O's position on abortion contrasted with waterboarding of mass murderers: so anti-intellectual of us to point it out.

Sorry to be so late in responding to Abbleby's rant of 5.1.08.
