A Fateful Trip

Only mere months into the Obama presidency and already my head is spinning. Massive chasms of debt, class warfare in the streets, government takeovers of private industry and servile shows of "respect" to foreign dictators have occurred with lightning speed. And because of a handful of Republican Senate moderates, nearly all attempts to block this agenda are dead on arrival.

And now, out of this nightmarish whirlwind comes word that those who love the founding principles in this country -- life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness as protected by the U.S. Constitution -- and worse, those who put their lives on the line in defense of same, are considered not only extremists but now, even terrorist material.

It's not so much that a bunch of pointy-headed liberals over at the Department of Homeland Security thinks that conservatives are dangerous to the country they would foist upon us, it's the addle-brained conclusions that they draw; like linking white-supremacists to abortion opposition.

This would come as news to the founder of Planned Parenthood, Margaret Sanger, a woman who was the best friend racist whites could ever have, insofar as reducing the minority population is their common goal. After instituting a "Negro Project" in 1939 and dispatching clergymen to disguise her intent, she wrote to a colleague, "We do not want the word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population, and the minister is the man who can straighten that idea out if it ever occurs to any of their more rebellious members."

But it's the slander against our veterans that really takes the cake. The DHS report mentions that "rightwing extremists will attempt to recruit and radicalize returning veterans in order to exploit their skills and knowledge derived from military training and combat." Their lone proof of this is that Timothy McVeigh, who carried out the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995, was a veteran. This brilliant logic comes from the same folks that won't associate in any way countless terrorist acts across the globe with the religion of peace they call Islam.

Yes, my head is spinning. It's like one of those TV shows where the premise is so ludicrous yet the solution to it so obvious, that it makes you want to bang your head against the wall. Kind of like a Gilligan's Island, where you're surrounded by nincompoops with no hope of escape or rescue.

Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale,
Of truth, love and liberty;
That started with a Glorious Cause
So people could breathe free.

King George was a mighty sovereign,
His redcoats brave and true;
Against them stood the Minutemen
Who donned the Buff and Blue.

The battle raged for eight long years;
The Delaware was crossed.
If not for the spirit of the Minutemen
The nation would be lost.

The Founders thanked the Lord above,
And felt their efforts blessed;
They knew that a government that governs least
Is one that governs best.

Then storms of change blew all around,
The winds grew cold and stiff;
The U.S. Constitution's now
A fragile paper skiff.

And so our country's upside down,
Awash in perversity;
The children of our Minutemen
Are now the enemy!

Our government has just declared
These folks who won't obey:
The NRA, and Christians too;
Those millionaires, and their wives;
Abortion foes, and freedom-loving veterans,
Must be taken away.

No guns! No God! No rule of law!
Or state sovereignty!
Like President Obama, it's radical as can be.

So welcome to the USA,
We're sure you'll want to stay,
Unless you're on the Right and then:
It's Guantanamo Bay!

One has to wonder why Janet Napolatano had no problem labeling right wing extremists as possible trouble doers, but the term radical Muslims or Islamofacists will never leave her lips or be observed in print in government reports while she's at the helm of Homeland Security.

"DHS report mentions that "rightwing extremists will attempt to recruit and radicalize returning veterans in order to exploit their skills and knowledge derived from military training and combat." Their lone proof of this is that Timothy McVeigh, who carried out the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995, was a veteran. "

Sadly, the popular Little green Footballs blog also echoed that meme.

"I’m seeing it brought up repeatedly that the report contains a reference to veterans, mentioning that some of these groups are seeking to recruit them. This is nothing more than a fact, and the report even says that only a tiny number of veterans would join such groups — but that their talents could bring a great deal of capability to the extremists. Has everyone simply forgotten that Timothy McVeigh was a veteran? "

Re: Timothy McVeigh. Who is John Doe #2, and why was he never found, and why is the government not looking for him? For a possible answer, go to "The Secret Life of Bill Clinton" by Ambrose Evans-Pritchard, formerly chief of the Washington bureau of the London Sunday Telegraph

Alan Brooks| 4.22.09 @ 1:26PM

Tim McVeigh was white, so it felt good to execute him.
like the time I called up a radio talkshow the night Matthew Shepard was killed and said, "all of a sudden gays are in favor of capital punishment"

a guy calls up 20 minutes later:
"you tell Alan we gays are no pushovers!"

Why the shock that BO (the man who bowed to a Muslim tyrant) had his broads at DHS label veterans, Christians, pro-life Americans, gun owners, and lovers of the Constitution as potential terrorists? I expect nothing less of Bo and the Democrat neo-fascists (that includes the useless faux "conservative" Blue Dog fascists too). In 1930's Germany it was the Jews, believing Christians (Protestants and Roman Catholics), Jehovah's Witnesses and anyone else who offended their "messiah" so why should it be different now?

Liberty or Death| 4.22.09 @ 4:26PM

This is just one more aggressive step, one more chess piece in the attack on Christianity in this country. If we do not stand now, eventually Christians will be hunted down, just as the Jews were in Nazi Germany.

If you think I am just one of those crazy, "right-wingers," just look at history's example. The Holocaust started with words, with false accusations and blame.

This report demonizes our military and attacks the conservative message, and comparatively, Christian people who hold to that message.

MT| 4.22.09 @ 6:04PM

Liberty--you might be a right winger, but you're no crazy. Watch for the start of the gay community's witch hunts against Christians in the (near?) future.

mike| 4.23.09 @ 7:32PM

the linking of veterans to terrorists was based on the danger a military trained individual would face, that after opposing many individuals with due intent to kill them, that upon returning and being unable to adjust to society after such a truamatic expierence would find themselves in a position to be taken advantage of by individuals with goals to, oh i don't know, link religion with terrorism, and create their own little 'witch hunt'? in addition, why did Mr. tomlinson, feel the need to add lovers of the Constitution to his list? were gun owners, Christians and pro life Americans not persuading enough without ading that little bit of association of your own? the report focusesw on those who ould be likely to perpertrate such attacks- to which those with accses to fiearms, belief in seperatist states and frequent use of the words holocaust and murderers to discredit what they don't like. sounds like danger to me.

Y'all,

I think a collective demand is in order: Okay Lisa, how long did it take you to compose those fabulous (and sad at the same time) substitute lyrics?

mark| 5.11.09 @ 12:43PM

Over 6,000,000 Jews were slaughtered by the Nazis, and even many more millions of Jews suffered from persecution short-of-death from the Nazis. Approximately 5,000,000 "Non-Jews" were also slaughtered by the Nazis, including 100,000 homosexuals, 200,000 gypsies, and 200,000 disabled persons.

Compare those "millions" of victims with the "handful" of Jehovah's Witnesses. There were only approximately 6000 Jehovah's Witnesses in Germany during the 1930s-40s. While many of those 6000 German JWs were repeatedly arrested during the 1930s and 1940s, only a fraction were jailed or imprisoned for any significant length of time. Only about 200-300 German JWs lost their lives, and the majority of those died from any number of causes other than having been executed. Approximately 1000 JWs from other European countries lost their lives while incarcerated by the Nazis.

During that same time period, there were more Jehovah's Witnesses arrested and jailed in the United States than in Germany. In fact, from 1941 until 1945, approximately 4500 American Jehovah's Witnesses "elected" to go to prison rather than serve in the U.S. Military and go fight against those same Nazis who were committing those atrocities.

Approximately 3000 of those 4500 American JWs were even offered "conscientious objector" status, in which they were offered "non-combatant" work as a substitute, but 99% of those JWs refused to even help out that much.

In fact, it is an insult to mention Jehovah's Witnesses alongside Jewish Holocaust victims given that Jehovah's Witnesses view the Jews much as did the Nazis.

The WatchTower Society teaches its own version of "replacement theology", which says that GOD rejected the Jews as His "chosen people", and replaced them with today's "Jehovah's Witnesses". In fact, the title "Jehovah's Witnesses" was originally applied to the Jews by the Prophet Isaiah, and is even quoted on the wall at the entrance to the Holocaust Museum in Washington D.C.

The WatchTower Society, in calling its own members "Jehovah's Witnesses" is attempting to steal that designation away from the Jews. The WatchTower Society even teaches that all of the Bible's promises of restoration for the Jewish people now belongs to the followers of the WatchTower Society.
