Bill Croke's article nearly brought me to tears, with the beauty of not only his prose, but of the place names themselves: "Copper Lakes near Sunlight Basin," "Painter Creek," and his final description of Grinnell Meadows. I was filled with a wave of nostalgia and longing for my own nation, and my own country, South Carolina, and the Congaree Swamp, Lake Jocassee, and the Foothills Trails.
