You might have missed it, but it was boomed in January.

The chief reason is Mr. Reagan himself. He knows history will not much value him for signing yet another meaningless treaty with the Evil Empire. But the President who defended America, who ushered in the beginning of the end of the nuclear age — such a President would rank with Churchill, FDR, and Abraham Lincoln. That is the company Mr. Reagan is shooting for, if he can steer his Star Wars program through the coming months of fury.
Gregory A. Fossedal, an editorial writer for the Wall Street Journal, is co-author (with Daniel O. Graham) of A Defense that Defends (published by Devin-Adair of Greenwich, Connecticut, which also has available reprints of this and other articles on Star Wars by Mr. Fossedal).

Well Reagan met with Gorbachov and signed a huge nuclear arms control treaty, that reduced the world's nuclear arms. The Neoconservatives fought him every step of the way. For them the Cold War would never end. These same lunatics want us to spend vast amounts of American money, defending Europe from the missiles of the ghosts of Hitler, and Stalin, and a non existent Iranian atomic weapons program. All these countries don't need this phantom defense which is only agravating both Russia and China. The only nuclear power with a program to blow up much of the world is Israel with it's Samson Option. That is the country which should be surrounded with an Star Wars program to stop them from blowing up the world.
The heads of the Israeli military and intelligence communities have spoken up against the warmongering of the present government of Binny Netanyahu and his defense minister Barak. Among them is the current headof the military General Ganz. The current head of the Mossad who has said that Iran is a rational player and is not an essential threst to Israel at this time. Others who have spoken up are General Ashkanazi, former military chief, former Shin Bet head Yuval Diskin, and former heads of the Mossad Meir Dagan, and Effriam Halevey. I wish we had such brave officers in this country, who could have stopped the disaster in Iraq from happening.

TEHRAN - The former head of Israel’s Shin Bet security agency has criticized Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Ehud Barak for adopting a bellicose stance on Iran, according to the Haaretz daily.
Yuval Diskin, who was speaking at a public meeting in Beit-ul-Moqaddas (Jerusalem) on Friday, said Israel’s political leaders are exaggerating the effectiveness of a possible military attack on Iran, AP reported.
“I don’t have faith in the current leadership of Israel…,” he stated.
“I do not believe in a leadership that makes decisions based on Messianic feelings,” Diskin added.
Former Mossad chief Meir Dagan backed Diskin on Sunday, saying that he disagrees with Netanyahu’s policy on solving Iran’s issue, according to Haaretz.
He also called a strike against Iran’s nuclear program “stupid”, AP reported.
Former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said at a conference hosted by the Jerusalem Post in New York on Sunday that he is against an attack on Iran, criticizing Netanyahu’s policy on Iran, Bloomberg reported.
In addition, Israel’s military chief Lieutenant General Benny Gantz, in an interview with Haaretz published on April 25, said that he does not believe Iran will decide to develop nuclear weapons, describing the country’s leadership as “very rational”.
“I think the Iranian leadership is comprised of very rational people,” Gantz stated."

Come on: You boys would have assassinated Ron if he came near the Presidency. You let the media, you control, do your assassinating for you. Ron has lit a fire that is just getting started. Excellent article and accurately true in conception, theory, perception, reality, and fact.
So to look at the overall context of what President Reagan had to deal with is amazing how much he accomplished as US President.
Of course today, with Obama as President, the opposite is happening, as Obama intentionally gives away America's defenses to the Russians and Chinese, along with his direct downsizing, gutting, and hollowing out of the US Military, via Defense Budget, stopping and or delaying new technology from being implemented, stopping the upgrades and new inventory resupply of Military hardware of ships, planes, etc, along with his intentional proposal to remove 80% of America's nuclear arsenal and their delivery systems, as Obama sees America has the evil empire, and not the socialist-marxist communists.
