It’s liberal versus liberal in today’s cage match. MSNBC host Lawrence O’Donnell blew up at Salon.com reporter Alex Seitz-Wald for writing an article that got everything wrong.
Of course, that isn’t why O’Donnell was mad. No, he was irked at Seitz-Wald for not crediting him for being wrong first.
O’Donnell attacked Seitz-Wald on Twitter, before going on a bizarre nine-minute tirade against him on-air:
Seitz-Wald’s fellow Salon reporter Alex Pareene (who also got the IRS scandal wrong) then decided to write a piece defending Seitz-Wald and Salon.
As we’ve explained many times, the idea that the IRS scandal is not actually a scandal is wrong. Many Democrats claimed that the existence of BOLO (Be On the Look Out) lists using terms associated with liberal groups means that the IRS targeted liberals as well as conservatives. However, the BOLO list does not prove that liberal groups were targeted, only that they were separated, and Inspector General J. Russell George and former IRS chief Steve Miller have both denied that the IRS targeted liberals.
The best part here is that O’Donnell, Seitz-Wald, and Pareene are all on the same side—and they’re all wrong. Maybe they should get their facts straight before they argue over who said it first. Then again, Seitz-Wald probably got off easy. O’Donnell has made a far bigger fool out of himself in the past:
